Custom Leaderboard Event: Recently Traded Players
Regarding What This Is
The attentive reader — and, really, even the mostly impaired reader — will know that baseball’s trade deadline has recently passed. What follows, for the benefit of both types of readers — both the attentive kind and also the mostly impaired kind, too — is a custom leaderboard of all the players both (a) who were involved in a deadline trade this year* who also (b) have some sort of previous major-league experience.

*Wherein “deadline trade” is defined as any trade to have occurred between July 24th and 31st.

On the Possible Use of Said Leaderboard
It would make some sense to periodically reference this leaderboard — especially the August and September splits part of it — over the next couple of months, with a view towards evaluating the production of players who were traded at the deadline.

On the Leaderboard, Whether the Author Will Update It
There’s a non-zero chance that the author will update this leaderboard as traded players with no previous major-league experience begin to make their debuts at the major-league level.

Today’s Notable Games
Miami at Atlanta | 19:10 ET ***MLB.TV Free Game***
Right-hander Nathan Eovaldi, traded to the Marlins in the deal that sent Hanley Ramirez to the Dodgers, makes his second start for Miami. His line from July 28th (box): 5.1 IP, 24 TBF, 5 K, 2 BB, 7 GB on 16 batted-balls (43.8% GB), 4.84 xFIP. His average fastball velocity during that same start: 94.5 mph.

Readers’ Preferred Broadcast: Atlanta Radio.

Los Angeles AL at Texas | 20:10 ET
Ryan Dempster, following a trade that sent him to the Rangers from the Cubs in exchange for third-base prospect Christian Villanueva (about whom you can read this piece by our Mike Newman) and right-handed pitching prospect Kyle Hendricks, makes his debut for Texas. Also, per Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News, another person making his debut for the Rangers tonight is probably third-base prospect Mike Olt.

Readers’ Preferred Broadcast: Texas Radio.

Today’s Complete Schedule

Cromulent use of “embiggenable” there, Carson.
