Position: Video Technology Associate (Affiliate)

Department: Player Development
Reports to: Minor League Video Technology Coordinator
Duration: March 2022 – September 2022
Status: Part-time seasonal (ability to travel and work non-traditional hours)

Position Summary:
This individual will provide on-site video support for coaches, players, non-uniform staff during minor league spring training in Arizona and during the minor league season at their assigned affiliate team (Sacramento, Richmond, Eugene, San Jose). This role will be an immersive player development experience that includes hands-on training with cutting edge performance technology and video, while being an integral part of a team. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, be able to communicate effectively to non-technical people, and have both passion and intellectual curiosity for the game of baseball.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Video set up, capture, post processing and distribution of all home/road games
  • Log in-game video data using BATS software
  • Targeted use of high frame rate cameras to enhance training, teaching and evaluation
  • Prepare and distribute advance video materials before each series and update as roster changes happen
  • Work with coaching staff to create videos that strategically enhance daily game plan
  • Coordinate schedule with coaching staff to provide full video and technology coverage for all pregame baseball work
  • Work closely with Associate Analyst to ensure all captures are accurate and secure in designated database in a timely fashion
  • System checks, troubleshooting, and maintenance of all on-site technology and video equipment
  • Stage equipment for the day
  • Ensure tracking and VR headsets are charged and ready to use
  • Ensure video retrieval stations and iPads have the most recent video sync
  • Ensure advance video is visible and playing in designated location

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, including weekends and holidays as dictated by the baseball calendar
  • Ability to communicate effectively to all members of Baseball Operations
  • Familiarity with networking and basic IT concepts a plus
  • Basic experience working with scripting languages (Python, PHP, VBA, etc.)
  • Experience with BATS software, VR, Trackman, Dropbox, TruMedia, Edgertronic, Blast, Hawk-Eye
  • Passion for baseball, intellectual curiosity, baseball or softball playing experience and understanding of team dynamics
