Eno Sarris: Masterson and Quintana are last. Anderson is a clear first for me. That leaves Ryu (just a little bit worried about league adjusting to 89 mph fastball, good change, and meh curve/sliders), Cash, Estrada, Parker in the middle. I’ll take Estrada and Cash, but obviously Ryu is working hard at changing my mind.

Eno Sarris: xFIP basically gives the pitcher a league average home run rate, while FIP does nothing to the pitcher’s home run rate. I think it can be really useful in shorter samples, relievers for example, because if a pitcher is giving up home runs on 20% of their fly balls, that probably won’t continue to happen. Look at Cains’ xFIP.

Eno Sarris: For the brewers themselves, yes, that’s a huge risk. I’ve heard of many breweries opening and fizzling quickly. Craft beer as a market is taking more and more of the overall beer market, so there’s more and more money there, but the barriers to entry are relatively low (~$50k), so there are a lot of fish in that sea.

My Oh My – Macklemore. How much are you buying the Red Sox rotation being massively improved this year? Lester looks like he’s back to his previous form, Buchholz remembered how to throw strikes and his off-speed stuff looks great, even Lackey managed a real, major-league-pitcher type start (against houston, but still). Probably won’t be better than TB at the end of the year, but fair to say they have the 2nd-best rotation in their division?

Eno Sarris: I think you can find some decent seats along the first base line, that’s in the sun if you like that. Standing room only is not as bad as it sounds. Lots of places to sit and drink, then go back out, stroll the park. Super cheap. 2) Rose and Crown in PA is walking distance (University) and despite the smell, has a great beer selection.
