Our Team
The Research and Development Department is a critical component to the success of the Milwaukee Brewers organization. We develop the information used in decision-making processes across all other departments. Job Description
Will work with the Baseball Research and Development, Baseball Systems Departments, and the entire Baseball Operations Department to deliver research and tools to improve decision making. The position requires a person who has intellectual curiosity, is a self-starter and can communicate technical and analytical concepts effectively to non-technical people. Being passionate about using data, analysis, and technology to improve decision making processes is also a key differentiator.

Core Duties

  • Work with Baseball R&D and Baseball Operations to understand analytical needs and implement best practices for meeting those needs
  • Investigate emerging data sources and identify potential for predictive value and actionable insights to improve decision making
  • Develop visualizations and other mechanisms for disseminating analytical results to Baseball Operations, including consideration for less technically and analytically inclined consumers

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) or in the current pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Operations Research, or related field from four-year college or university. Associate (Intern) – Baseball Systems

Our Team
Baseball Systems is the software backbone of Baseball Operations. We provide data and decision-making tools for analysts, coaches, and front office personnel to help win a World Series. Our department consists of a team of data engineers and a team of software engineers who work across all different aspects of Baseball Operations providing support and tools relevant to each group. We work directly with stakeholders in every department of Baseball Operations to ensure every project we work on drives value to the organization and helps us win more games on the field. We help drive technical innovation to find new ways to solve baseball problems.

Job Description
As part of the Baseball Systems department, this role will work closely with the Data Engineering and Software Engineering groups to enhance existing tools and processes and build new ones using technologies that bridge multiple engineering disciplines.

Core Duties

  • Investigate user identified data quality concerns relating to areas such as game statistics, scouting reports, and transactions. Diagnose and fix the issue(s).
  • Load new datasets from vendors into internal databases and make the data available to users.
  • Develop user interface (UI) components using front-end technologies, ensuring user-friendly design.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:
The Amateur Domestic Scouting department is primarily responsible for improving organizational talent through the Rule IV Draft and UDFA signing process. The Amateur Domestic Scouting department strives to be best in class at identifying, evaluating, and valuing amateur baseball talent through a relentless commitment to our process and our people. This includes, but is not limited to creating well-rounded scouting practices, building relationships, leveraging R&D for process support, developing strong staff education frameworks, and establishing sound decision-making processes.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Area Scout is responsible for overseeing the draft process for players within their designated geographical area. This role places a strong emphasis on collaboration with other members of the amateur operation to gather and verify a wide range of critical information, including, but not limited to, background details, medical records, performance data, and player evaluation, all of which are vital to the Amateur Scouting efforts. A key responsibility of the Area Scout is to establish strong relationships with players, parents, coaches, and other relevant sources to ensure the accuracy and depth of the collected data, which is essential for informing decision-making. The ideal candidate should be inquisitive, openminded, and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collect and verify comprehensive information, including background details, medical records, performance data, and other relevant information to inform scouting decisions.
  • Collaborate with the National Coordinator, Amateur Scouting, to align efforts and ensure consistency in scouting practices.

Job Summary:
This position supports the Advisor to the President in preparation for, and then through, the upcoming transition to the President role at the end of the 2025 season. Prior to the transition, responsibilities may include research projects, presentation writing, meeting planning and summaries, note-taking and correspondence, and other tasks as assigned. Following Advisor’s transition to the President role, this Assistant will continue in a support role, working closely with the Sr. Executive Assistant to the President. The Assistant will have wide exposure to the baseball operations senior leadership team and all underlying sub-departments. Job Duties Beginning Immediately:

  • Design and produce complex documents, reports, and presentations, for a variety of internal audiences.
  • Conduct baseball research projects as directed by Advisor to the President.
  • Compose memos and correspondence and assist with other writing and communication projects.
  • Become a power user of internal systems and valuation materials. Assist in ongoing efforts to improve and streamline those systems and materials.

Job Duties Following the 2025 Season:

The Cleveland Guardians Baseball Research & Development (R&D) group is seeking to hire Data Scientists at a variety of experience levels, including senior, entry-level, and intern/fellow. In this role, you will work alongside the rest of the R&D group to transform a treasure trove of scientific data (e.g., box scores, bat/ball/player tracking, video, biomechanics) into an information pipeline that helps us acquire better players, improve those players, and equip our coaches and players to emerge victorious.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Building statistical and/or machine learning models to guide player acquisitions, player development philosophy, and Major League decision-making.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Boston Red Sox are seeking a Senior Data Engineer, Baseball Systems who is a hands-on database expert responsible for administering and optimizing large-scale SQL environments, building robust data pipelines, and ensuring high-performance access to critical baseball operations data across on-prem and cloud platforms.

RESPONSIBILITIES
