Contract Crowdsourcing 2016-17: Day 5 of 10

Free agency begins five days after the end of the World Series. As in other recent offseasons, FanGraphs is once again facilitating this offseason a contract-crowdsourcing project, the idea being to harness the wisdom of the crowds to the end of better understanding the giant and large 2016-17 free-agent market.

Below are links to ballots for five of this year’s free agents, including more corner outfielders.

Other Players: Erick Aybar / Jose Bautista / Rajai Davis / Ian Desmond / Dexter Fowler / Carlos Gomez / Matt Holliday / Austin Jackson / Jon Jay / Matt Joyce / Brandon Moss / Mike Napoli / Angel Pagan / Wilson Ramos / Kurt Suzuki / Justin Turner / Chase Utley / Luis Valbuena / Neil Walker / Matt Wieters.

Why is there no QO question for Saunders? That one in particular seems to be right on the fringe.

And the QO amt is $17.2M, no?

No!! Why no QO question for Saunders?

Reading between the lines, are you suggesting that Saunders isn’t eligible for a QO?

He only puts up a QO question for players who have a shot at being offered a QO, and Saunders will definitely not be offered one.

I would rate him a better shot of getting one than Valbuena, Rasmus, Napoli or Utley. And maybe none of them get one, but Saunders seems closer to one than the other 4 if I’m a GM.

What? This is Saunders first healthy year in like 5 years and he wasn’t even as good as valbuena and plays a position lower on the defensive spectrum.

Except in years past the question has more than once been omitted from players who did in fact receive qualifying offers, so your explanation, while facially a reasonable one, is false.

It’s not the fault of the internet that Cuddyer was given a QO. The internet is always right.

Saunders has like no shot at a multi year deal, too much injury risk. So no he is not on the fringe.

I will be shocked if Saunders doesn’t sign a multi-year deal.

A corner outfielder only who isnt even good in those said corners with his injury history? Maybe an al team with an empty dh slot goes 2/24 max but that sure limits the market.. Bare in mind his fwar is generous, he graded even worse with Drs.
