A Brief Introduction to This Edition of the Notes
Owing to the fact that there are games today, so is there an edition of the Notes. Owing to how it is also a holiday, however, this edition of the Notes is decidedly truncated so that the author might dedicate the largest part of his day to Unbridled Leisure.
Please find below both (a) a brief preview of today’s MLB.TV Free Game and, after that, (b) all of today’s games rated according to NERD, this site’s very proprietary watchability metric.
Today’s MLB.TV Free Game
Los Angeles AL at Los Angeles NL | 20:10 ET
C.J. Wilson (63.2 IP, 99 xFIP-, 0.8 WAR) faces Zack Greinke (20.2 IP, 105 xFIP-, 0.5 WAR). The latter was uncharacteristically ineffective in his most recent start, posting just a 1:3 strikeout-to-walk ratio against 24 batters in 4.0 innings. Greinke’s velocity has been down about 1.5 mph this season relative to 2012 — even including his starts before his DL stint.
Readers’ Preferred Broadcast: Los Angeles NL Television.
Today’s Complete Schedule
Here’s the complete schedule for all of today’s games, with our very proprietary watchability (NERD) scores for each one. Pitching probables and game times aggregated from MLB.com and RotoWire. The average NERD Game Score for today is 5.4.

Carson Cistulli has published a book of aphorisms called Spirited Ejaculations of a New Enthusiast.
If only Correia could muster a “2” NERD score, the MIN-MIL game would be a straight–and roughly as exciting to watch as a poker game (not that that’ll stop me: I’ll be watching until I have to head to work).
