Owing to the conspiracy of certain Life Events against him, the author is unable to provide in this space today the sort of robust analysis and unfettered prose for which he’s become nearly famous on no fewer than one (1) continents.

As compensation of sorts, however, he (i.e. that same author) has produced the following animated GIF of Atlanta right-hander Kris Medlen‘s changeup from Tuesday night’s Braves-Mets game — which pitch actually features a higher swinging-strike rate this season (27.3%) than last (26.0%), when it was responsible for preventing more runs than all but Fernando Rodney‘s and Jason Vargas’s versions of the same offering.

Dammit, beat me to it! Not hard to make that guy look bad. That hitch in Davis’s swing is ridiculous.
