First Player from 2012 Draft Recalled to Majors
The Los Angeles Dodgers have recalled left-hander Steven Rodriguez from Double-A Chattanooga just three months after selecting him 82nd overall in this year’s amateur draft, reports MLB.com’s Alex Angert. The 21-year-old Rodriguez, who attended the University of Florida, posted this line between High- and Double-A: 19.7, 14.6 K/9, 2.8 BB/9, 0.0 HR/9, 0.86 FIP. According to Baseball America, Rodriguez features a “good cutter, 91-92 mph fastball, [and] plus command.” He’s expected to work in relief.

Brett Wallace Played Actual Shortstop This Season
There’s a piece by Brian McTaggart at the Astros official site called “[Brett] Wallace not an option at short for Astros,” which suggests, by means of implication, that Wallace, who’s listed at 6-2, 250 and does good work in the tookus department, could have been an option at shortstop for the Astros. It is here that the curious reader might wonder “Why would the Astros and/or Brian McTaggart thought such a thing?” To which the author, after a brief inspection of Wallace’s Baseball Reference page, can now respond: “Because he (i.e. Wallace) played nine games there (i.e. at short) this season at Triple-A Oklahoma.”

Rangers Sign Jurickson Profar’s Brother
The Texas Rangers have signed uberprospect Jurickson Profar’s younger brother, Juremi Profar, a 16-year-old third baseman from Curacao, reports Baseball America’s Ben Badler. According to Badler, Juremi doesn’t appear to have the ceiling of his older brother, but does appear to have the tools to play third base and hit for decent power.

New York AL at Baltimore | 19:05 ET
The Orioles and Yankees, separated by a single game in the AL East, begin a four-game series tonight. Someone who’s not impressed by that, really, is the Cool Standings’ simulator. Per that site, the Yankees still have an 85.2% chance of making the playoffs; the Orioles, just 47.3%.
