Apropos of Little: Oakland’s Chris Carter
What’s Probably Most Notable Today
What’s probably most notable today — so far as Official Baseballing News is concerned, I mean — is either how (a) Toronto is likely to replace Jose Bautista (en route to the DL) on their active roster with very exciting outfield prospect Anthony Gose, or how (b) brutally efficient right-hander Roy Halladay is making his return from injury tonight with the Phillies, or how (c) perpetually intriguing right-hander Trevor Bauer is scheduled to make his fourth major-league start tonight with the Diamondbacks.
What’s Most Notable to Right-Thinking People, Actually
Of greater consequence for right-thinking people today — more than the three Pressing Current Events invoked above, that is — more pressing is the player page of Oakland first baseman Chris Carter.
What the Author, Personally, Would Do to Chris Carter’s Player Page
Meditate all up on it, is what.
What Else the the Author Would Like to Do to That Page
Explore it, I guess. Explore it like an expert spelunker would explore a mysterious ancient cave.
Why He (i.e. the Author) Would Do Those Things
On account of its (the player page’s) animal magentism, is largely why.
A Third Thing the Author Would Like to Do
After he’s done meditating all up on Chris Carter’s FanGraphs player page, the author would like to — and, in fact, has plans to — to navigate via the internet to whatever videos of Chris Carter are available at MLB.com.
A Video That’s Available There
A video of Chris Carter from MLB.com that’s sponsored by Budweiser is this video:
Another Example
A video of Chris Carter that’s sponsored probably by Head and Shoulders-brand dandruff shampoo is this video:
A Third Thing
A thing that isn’t a video of Chris Carter is this, which is his slugging percentage: .962.
Other Notable Games
Toronto at New York AL | 19:05 ET
According to the internet, Blue Jays outfield prospect Anthony Gose is likely to be recalled as a replacement for Jose Bautista — who injured his left wrist on Monday — on the active roster. Gose was ranked first overall among Blue Jays prospects during the preseason by our Marc Hulet and second by Baseball America and second by Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com and fourth by Kevin Goldstein of Baseball Prospectus and, actually, eighth by John Sickels of Minor League Ball. Here’s his (i.e. Gose’s) line from Triple-A Las Vegas: 432 PA, .293/.376/.434 (.375 BABIP), 10.9% BB, 21.3% K, 29/39 SB.
Readers’ Preferred Broadcast: Toronto Radio.
Arizona at Cincinnati | 20:10 ET ***MLB.TV Free Game***
Diamondbacks prospect Trevor Bauer (13.1 IP, 114 xFIP-, 0.2 WAR) makes his fourth major-league start. After some trouble in each of the first two, Bauer’s third start was considerably more successful. To wit: 6.0 IP, 21 TBF, 6 K, 1 BB, 8 GB on 14 batted-balls (57.1%), 2.29 xFIP.
Readers’ Preferred Broadcast: Arizona Radio.
Today’s Complete Schedule
Here’s the complete schedule for all of today’s games, with our very proprietary watchability (NERD) scores for each one. Pitching probables and game times aggregated from MLB.com and RotoWire. The average NERD Game Score for today is 4.3.
Note: the following Game Scores include the poorly conceived playoff-odds adjustment discussed in a recent edition of Daily Notes. Also note: the following table is entirely sortable.

* = Fewer than 20 IP, NERD at discretion of very handsome author.
Carson Cistulli has published a book of aphorisms called Spirited Ejaculations of a New Enthusiast.
I would have thought that the handsome author would have awarded one Mr. Jacob Turner a NERD higher than the most average of numbers.
