12:03 |
: i’m here!
|
12:03 |
I’m hosting a subsidiary chat in the comments section after you depart… |
12:03 |
: those people have been lonely, this is a great service.
|
12:03 |
I recently learned that Goose Island Bourbon County always comes out day after Thanksgiving (at least in CT it does). Are there any other super popular beers that come out at 1 specific time every year that you know of? |
12:03 |
: I can think of Dark Lord day at Three Floyds and Hunapunu day at Cigar City. Those are events!
|
12:04 |
Shouldnt the Jays lose a couple on purpose (maybe thats what they are doing by benching all the starters) so they can face the Rangers instead of Yankees or Astros in the first round? I could see the Jays putting double digits on those Rangers lefties |
12:04 |
: I dunno that I play this game. Home field is better than determining matchups IMO.
|
12:04 |
Best somewhat widely available beer you’ve had recently? |
12:04 |
: Easy Jack?
|
12:04 |
Your Beltre article was excellent. Easy to understand why he’s a future hall of famer from that interview. |
12:05 |
: Refreshing that he admitted flaws and found such great solutions to them.
|
12:05 |
Does Rollins get left off the roster in the NLDS? They aint benching Seager, right? Kike sits too I guess |
12:05 |
: Rollins will be there.
|
12:05 |
Should I be concerned about Matz’s back stiffness? It seems like he gets one freak injury after another. Does this mean anything for the playoffs? |
12:05 |
: He’s been injured a lot in minors too. Fortunately stiffness sounds like something that could clear up in 10-14 days.
|
12:05 |
![]() eno time! |
12:05 |
This is not how I want the Mets to look heading into October |
12:05 |
: No such thing as momentum.
|
12:06 |
Next season remind me to use up all my innings and games played before the last week fo the season. Half my team is shut down and my starters are getting pulled in the 4th. |
12:06 |
: yeah it sucks. But I do like to load up on last day starters just for fun.
|
12:06 |
Is Aaron Altherr a keeper for next year in OBP league? Or a try to sell in offseason on end of season production? |
12:06 |
: Not a big fan.
|
12:06 |
Eno! Thanks for the beer recs on my SF trip last week. Are you starting Archer at home against the Jays this weekend or should I pick up Kyle Hendricks at MIL as insurance? |
12:06 |
: Archer’s an every starter and Kyle has had some homer issues and is headed to a bad park.
|
12:07 |
Fantasy only, Trout or Harper next 5 years? |
12:07 |
: Trout steals bases still.
|
12:07 |
This isn’t bc he’s killing me in the Finals, but what’s up with Carrasco that is making him so high peaks and low valleys? |
12:07 |
: I don’t think he has good command. He throws his stuff hard at the middle of the zone and sometimes, if the movement is down a bit for whatever reason, I think he can get hit.
|
12:07 |
Mookie Betts a top-15 keeper in a slash-line league (w/the other standard categories)? |
12:07 |
: Yes. Very hard to get that kind of OPS with steals.
|
12:07 |
Do you think there is something wrong with Felix Hernandez? Could he be hiding an elbow injury? |
12:08 |
: It could just still be the ankle setting everything off.
|
12:08 |
A lot of people are still down on Lewis Brinson’s hit tool despite his incredible 2015 season. What are your thoughts on his MLB future? |
12:09 |
: Very interested in what he’s going to do next year, particularly with the K%. I have a feeling that he’ll debut poorly with a big K% and then do the work to whittle it down again. Good news is he’s … dripping with tools.
|
12:09 |
Does Tim Anderson take over as SS for the White Sox next year? |
12:09 |
: Maybe but I’m not that into him.
|
12:09 |
$8 Carrasco for $2 Lindor if I already have Correa? |
12:10 |
: No. If you’re going to trade one of the hottest young shortstops in baseball — and I think I would trade Lindor over Correa eight times a week and twice on Sundays — you have to get a bat back. Carrasco plus something maybe.
|
12:10 |
Dustin Ackley has performed pretty well for the Yankees. Do they have thoughts of starting him full-time at 2B next year? |
12:10 |
: He looks like he’s taking the job, yes.
|
12:10 |
please help with what to do with Strasburg tonight! Have 1 start left on season and need a QS. with potential rain in Atlanta tonight, I’m gonna watch the radar, but if it looks iffy, should I just go with Hendricks in Mil on sat or Lynn in ATL on Sun? Also Aesop Rock is nice. |
12:11 |
: I like Lynn best. Although I guess they could sit him on the last day. Tough one. Strasburg best pitcher so just cross your fingers I guess.
|
12:11 |
I’m glad Aesop holds up this well. I was obsessed with that guy for a while. |
12:11 |
: Yeah there’s a little bit of something new in that new tune too.
|
12:12 |
Do you think Desmond can be a sleeper pick next year? |
12:12 |
: Sure. A little early for it all to fall apart. I have him in OBP dynasty and am not selling. But I will sell next year if he has a good year.
|
12:12 |
Marcus Stroman! Just seems to keep on rolling. Think he’ll be limited in innings next year due to having so few from this year? Or more like TJ, where some pitchers have been getting a fair amount right off the bat? |
12:12 |
: Maybe even more than TJ because it wasn’t an arm injury.
|
12:13 |
such thing as doubt. players are humans. |
12:14 |
: I don’t believe they are random number generators, as I told Sam Fuld the other day. But will you remember a late September loss after deGrom shuts down the Dodgers and you win a 1-0 dogfight in October? Nah.
|
12:14 |
Will Jorge Soler be a starter in the Cubs OF next season? Maddon has been using him in a part time role since he came off the DL. |
12:14 |
: There’s a lot of pressure on the Cubs to win now. I still believe. Coghlan lives by the BABIP dies by the BABIP.
|
12:14 |
I know he’s 19 but if Urias hadn’t gotten hit around and lost all control in AAA playoffs would we be seeing him in LA for the playoffs? Also for the next 5 years the proven results of Stroman or the ace upside of Urias? Thanks Eno! |
12:16 |
: Stroman over Urias, the bust rate lower on Stroman. I do think Urias is close and thought he might be up soon, thought he might be a reliever this fall, but maybe it’s not the results, maybe they saw something that created the results like a falling arm slot or velocity.
|
12:16 |
Last over/under of the season: my stubble or my bubble? |
12:16 |
: Stubble is so awful but I’m afraid of what your bubble is.
|
12:17 |
do you think the cards mishandled martinez/wacha innings/pitches, etc, this year? |
12:18 |
: Who knows anything about this. I think I’d try to count stressful pitches and track those. Spratt has a thing up today about that. Did Martinez and Wacha throw a lot of stressful pitches? (Also the change is supposed to be super healthy)
|
12:18 |
Do you think Mookie will walk more as pitchers start to respect his power? leads MLB in zone% right now |
12:18 |
: Yes, I think that’s generally how it works and yeah you have to respect a guy that can hit 20 homers.
|
12:18 |
The Jays are not starting Price for the rest of the season and resting all regulars in todays game. Looks like they are tanking to matchup with the NL West champion, good move or not? |
12:19 |
: Oh so they are doing that. Or maybe they just don’t want one of their guys hit by a pitch? YOUCH YESPEDES
|
12:19 |
: Hey I kinda like that nickname for Yo
|
12:19 |
: Yespedes
|
12:19 |
Wow – another fascinating final week of the season! I feel like this new Wild Card era has really rejuvenuUIEPBuiPBE OIFHIO OHF SHIUT HOUIFB BJBDBiiUFB I”M A WWREREWOLF Fnj |
12:20 |
Are you dripping with tools? |
12:20 |
: If those tools are cutting fruit into tiny bits, wiping butt cheeks, and carrying two 20-30 pound boys while trying to get out the door, then yes.
|
12:20 |
Here’s a fun game, someone names a musician or really any celebrity, and then everyone guesses if they have a Christmas album, then you look up their discography. The person that names the artist should be shooting for maximum disagreement. Think Bono, Billy Joel, CNN anchors, etc. |
12:21 |
: Oh god throw them all into a dumpster and set it on fire.
|
12:21 |
What is up with all the empty seats at Yankee Stadium lately? Do Yankees fans not exist anymore or has that place just sapped all the life out of the fan base. |
12:21 | : You’re probably talking about behind home plate and those are super expensive. I wrote about it a bit, one of my favorite stories. |
12:22 |
What will Addison Russell’s stats look like in 2016 |
12:23 |
: I’m big on him so I’m going to push the Rest of Season projections a bit. .260/.330/.425 with 20 homers and five steals. That might be top five!
|
12:23 |
Should dynasty owners of Rizzo be concerned about the 30 plunkings? I’ve been lucky for 2 years now with him but seems like an inch or 2 away from a broken wrist. |
12:23 |
: Yes it’s something to think about. At least there are good 1B/OFs you can roster, that’s better than selling a stud in his prime.
|
12:23 |
I would walk 500 miles |
12:23 |
And I would walk 500 more |
12:23 |
To be the man who walked 1000 miles |

What do you make of Matt Boyds cup of coffee? |
12:24 |
: music answer
|
12:24 |
:
|
12:25 |
: in that, I think it’s impressive that he’s shown better velocity than I thought he had, but it was also not a good debut from results standpoint. Is that Michael Jackson’s worst effort or what.
|
12:26 |
HEY DINGLEBERRY QS CITY LOL IN YOUR FACE LOL GOD WHY WON’T YOU JUST LIKE ME DAD I MEAN ENO |
12:26 |
Your name doesn’t autofill on google search until you type in “eno sa.” Pretty insulting. |
12:26 |
: Brian’s got me on wrap.
|
12:26 |
I’d be trading Carrasco to get Lindor. Carrasco’s inconsistency is driving me nuts and I’d still have Sale, Stroman, and some of the young guns. |
12:27 |
: Oh sure. I’d do that. And then I’d turn around and shop Lindor for a bat that fits team better. A tiny bit worried that Lindor is debuting above his head a bit.
|
12:27 |
Will Gregory Polanco ever learn how to pick up a #$%@##@$@# baseball without bobbling it 3 times? For the love of God he plays outfield like a drunk giraffe. |
12:28 |
: Oh man I’m remembering the time that he blew that game by running around a fly ball and then falling down. It’s funny because I think he can be a really good defender but he has really iconic screwups. Hopefully he’ll learn a bit, because the rest of his game is developing and he has a really nice head on his shoulders.
|
12:28 |
Stroman and Wainwright both back! I’d like to think this is the dawning of the age of pitcher health quarius, but it’s probably just two great athletes recovering over 4 months, which doesn’t seem too remarkable. Still, done for the year usually means done for the year. Also, Smiley. |
12:29 |
: Well you not asking a pitcher to cut left and right like soccer or basketball player, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Waino couldn’t play basketball today.
|
12:29 |
DeSclafani a breakout for 2016? |
12:29 |
: His K and swinging strike numbers are up huge since he went to slider/curve. He told me the right things about not worrying about velocity gap on his change. I’ll have him as a last pitcher in some leagues for sure.
|
12:30 |
Betts still has somewhat of a popup problem ~4% if I’m doing it right. But he’s put up BABIP over .300 over the full season and never seemed to have BABIP problems in the minors. He’s up to .290 on the season which is what he did in the minors as well. Safe to project .285+ into the future or still worried he drops into the .260/.270 range long term? |
12:31 |
: How much long term is left? Worried the injuries come more often and his play suffers from playing through them, like they did this year. I believe he hits the ball hard, and that he’s done a lot to mitigate his flaws but I’m still worried about a cratering in O-contact%.
|
12:31 |
Does Matt Williams set the ceiling on the negative impact a manager can have on a team? |
12:31 |
: He made horse poop out of horse poop in terms of clubhouse personalities, if you ask me.
|
12:32 |
Is Derek Norris a keeper for you or can I move on (Swihart still on my MiLB roster). Thanks! |
12:33 |
: I don’t think he has much upside left (except in OBP, I think that can come back) so this is pretty much who he is. If that’s keepable in your settings, that’s fine. Swihart might be a productive major leaguer but not have a fantasy bat.
|
12:33 |
I need morearticles analyzing the 1 game NL playoff. I want this horse killed and then beaten. |
12:33 |
: My firm stance is that this isn’t baseball. I’d rather have a three-game series.
|
12:34 |
: God Drew Hutchison all like, I’m your starter on the day after party day in the middle of the rain, you couldn’t let Jeff Francis take this bullet for us
|
12:34 |
If Cherington hadn’t been fired mid-season, would they have ended up keeping him, now that the Red Sox seem headed to a third place ~.500 finish rather than the atrocious season they seemed on track for? Or is blowing a large fraction of a billion dollars on Hanley Ramirez, Rick Porcello and Pablo Sandoval a firing offense on its own? |
12:34 |
: A lot of this stuff is optics. What happens if Hanley is a good first baseman next year and Pablos’ defense recovers.
|
12:34 |
You think Bogaerts will become a 20HR hitter? |
12:35 |
: Here’s the thing. I think he’s a swing adjustment away from it, and he’s shown that kind of power before. Will he make the right adjustment and stop beating the ball into the ground?
|
12:35 |
I’m glad Dr. Zizmor had the presence of mind, even after turning into a werewolf, to hit send once his transformation was complete. |
12:35 |
I always knew Dr Zizmore was a werewolf, you can just tell from that grin in the subway ads… |
12:35 |
Bob Dylan christmas ftw |
12:35 |
I name all of my homebrewed beers after articles you’ve written. In two weeks I’m looking forward to the Wheat Zack Greinke Learned from Felix Hernandez Exactly IPA. |
12:36 |
: wasn’t sure where that was going and then bang! lude
|
12:36 |
You seem to disagree with Twins announcer for saying Gibson shouldn’t pitch to the score. Elaborate – this is a platform with more than 140 characters. |
12:37 |
: Nah I think it’s just ironic that the Twins have a hall of fame case for Jack Morris built on the belief that he pitched to the score. I agree you should pitch well often. I could see a few more sinkers than breaking pitches if you’re up, but if you become really predictable, you can get in big trouble.
|
12:37 |
I joined a long-term keeper league for this season with two friends and 9 strangers. After winning the regular season, I’m up over 200 points in the championship. What is the appropriate amount of gloating to do? Is it weird that I feel bad about beating everybody like this? Should I invest all of my prize money in beer for the draft next year? |
12:37 |
: I think you keep it mellow so they don’t find a way to kick you out. I love my long-term money league that I win every year.
|
12:38 |
Besides the obvious things (bottles, diapers, crib, socks) what is the one thing an expecting father needs to have for a baby? |
12:38 |
: White noise machine. Sleep sack.
|
12:38 |
Do you think Francisco Lindor’s stats will be better than Russel’s next year? Lindor just keeps hitting HRs!! |
12:38 |
: It’s there, in particular, that I expect regression.
|
12:39 |
Are you buying what Dave said in his piece about Kyle Hendricks? Do you think Hendricks has improved his skills and is “trustworthy” in a dynasty league? |
12:41 |
: I don’t know where these strikeouts are coming from. He has an elite changeup, yes, but he’s had that for a while now. And his swinging strike rate is pedestrian or worse. Third starter for the cubs is what Dave said, and that I can agree with. That doesn’t really mean trustworthy in dynasty.
|
12:41 |
Matt Duffy current line .300/.339/.436. Matt Duffy 2016 o/u .270/.310/.400? |
12:41 |
: Under this line, over your second line.
|
12:41 |
How difficult is it for a player like Billy Hamilton to slap the ball on the ground and just get on base!!! |
12:42 |
: They don’t respect his power, so they can be aggressive in the zone. I think that makes everything harder.
|
12:42 |
why is chat box so tiny? |
12:42 |
: To make me look bigger?
|
12:43 |
Eno, what do you think of the Jerry DiPoto hire in Seattle? |
12:44 |
: Half the GM’s work, or more, is people managing and hiring the right people. He didn’t do a great job of the first, I dunno about the second. Your GM isn’t actually running any analytics, so all you need for him to have an open ear to the numbers guys. I don’t know, honestly. Probably better than Jack Z, but dunno.
|
12:45 |
Hello Eno. Something has been bothering me deeply lately, and I wanted to get your thoughts. So when pitching around a hitter in a particular situation when you don’t want to give him anything to hit, but you also aren’t intentionally walking him, announcers will refer to this as the “unintentional intentional walk.” But shouldn’t this be called the “intentional unintentional walk”? In the former, you have the word “unintentional” modifying the term “intentional walk”, indicating that the intentional walk was unintentional—as in, wupps, we mistakenly intentionally walked him. In the latter, you have the word “intentional” modifying the term “unintentional walk”, indicating that you purposefully threw an unintentional walk. |
12:46 |
: You are correct. Maybe you can leave this one in your rear view mirror now?
|
12:46 |
:
|
12:46 |
So hypothetically this Hurricane comes through and rains out games across the east coast, does the MLB have to make up all of the games? Can some of the inconsequential games just be left unplayed? |
12:46 |
: Yes I think meaningless games can be cancelled.
|
12:47 |
Aren’t you glad your Parents weren’t Bryan Ferry fans? Eno sounds way better |
12:47 |
: Well obviously they were, but they also had good taste in first names.
|
12:47 |
What to make of Starlin Castro for next season? |
12:47 |
: Full time work somewhere else, above-average shortstop, below average fantasy shortstop.
|
12:47 |
Best beer to compliment whiskey? |
12:47 |
: PBR
|
12:47 |
If CIN picks up an outfielder, are they more legit than their record makes them look? That IF is great, and their young SPs could be a force. (Wishful thinking here b/c if any player deserves to play for a winner it’s Votto.) |
12:48 |
: I like Iglesias a lot. If Bailey can come back, I see 1-2-3 in rotation and a few longshots in minors and current rotation. They aren’t that far away, and Bruce can be a little better too.
|
12:48 |
![]() Watch out, east coast! |
12:48 |
: That last one’s a doozy.
|
12:48 |
remember when we everyone laughed at the marlins for trading for dee gordon? |
12:49 |
: I mean if I could do that deal in fantasy I would have done it a million times over.
|
12:49 |
Seems like Hanley being a good 1B at this point is about as likely as Pedro being one, not much more than wishful thinking. |
12:50 |
: I mean hopefully he can stand in one place and not hurt himself, but yeah I guess that’s tough to ask for.
|
12:50 |
Why do I keep having a nightmare about Wainwright coming out of the bullpen and striking out Cespedes to end the NLCS? |
12:50 |
: Blame Beltran.
|
12:50 |
Probably stupid theory: wouldn’t it be better to have your batters be relatively homogenous in terms of type? Patience-power guys go well with other patience-power guys because they get guys on base and then let them walk home. Speed-contact guys go well with more speed-contact guys, because speed matters more when the ball is in play more. Probably not enough value to be squeezed out here, but it’s also easy to think of a lot of winning teams that had a type. |
12:51 |
: Simulations have shown that mixes are better and I think it’s more about matchups. Let’s say you have a control meister on the board, maybe the patience guys have a little trouble but the contact guys are happy.
|
12:51 |
Because really, what incentive do the Nats have to answer your questions, after all? I mean, nothing satisfies you. Everybody asks for personnel changes. So the Nats have personnel changes. Then you write, “Oh, they’re just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.” First of all, that is a terrible metaphor. This team is not sinking. This team is soaring. If anything, they are rearranging the deck chairs on the Hindenburg! |
12:51 |
needs a vasectomy ! |
12:51 |
the red sox only really recovered BECAUSE cherington was effectively canned, and the team stopped playing washed-up vets every day |
12:51 |
: Hmm not sure about that last one.
|
12:52 |
What is a white noise machine? Is it Friends reruns turned down low? |
12:52 |
: A machine that sounds like a human being going SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
|
12:53 |
: whoa, hold on, people can’t get into the chat. Lemme look at this.
|
12:53 |
: you listen to this
|
12:53 |
:
|
12:53 |
: because steel drums
|
12:56 |
this is eno sarris and i’ll be groovin tunes like fastballs so sweet and saucy you’ll hit them outta the park every time like an eagle swooping down and snatching that hare in your talons and being like it’s all good baby, let’s just ear these tracks |
12:56 |
: It’s like just us 100 people or something. Nobody else can get in.
|
12:56 |
Clearly the entire thing is intentional. It should be something like laissez faire intentional walk. |
12:58 |
: Hey it’s just us!
|
12:59 |
: I’ll do a little bit more in this group, sorry to others, something happened today on October first perhaps.
|
12:59 |
THE STARS AT NIGHT! ARE BIG AND BRIGHT! |
12:59 |
if a teams owner used to be an exotic dancer, would that be good motivation to get the team to play well and make the playoffs? |
12:59 |
: Well come on now Indians. Wait, not the real life Indians. I don’t want to see any of the current owners in a two-piece.
|
1:00 |
Does AJ Pollock improve on this season or does he come back to earth in 2016? |
1:00 |
: I think it’s all repeatable, but he’s 27 so he won’t steal as many bases next year.
|
1:00 |
Technically its SHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHSH |
1:00 |
: yeah that HHHHHHHHH sound is a humdinger
|
1:01 |
I agree that’s it’s tough to not expect HR regression f on Lindor next year. What do you expect out of him overall? |
1:01 |
: I think he can beat the batting average projections, so maybe something like .285/.320/.400? excellent for a real-life glovely shortstop, but in fantasy that’s probably a .285/7/20 guy.
|
1:02 |
Once a historical period has a name, it’s pretty hard to do much about that. There’s probably someone out there saying, “Guys, the Iron Age had nothing to do with iron!” but no one cares. |
1:02 |
it’s like some wormhole closed and only our ship got to the new planet |
1:02 |
Pretty good this planet, plenty to eat, doesn’t seem dangerous once you learn to avoid the beach at night, but I wonder where our friends are. |
1:02 |
: Gonna be a lot of one-person ludes today.
|
1:02 |
Realistic stat line for Trea Turner 2016? |
1:03 |
: Nice debut for him. .275/.320/.425? More power than Lindor, less speed.
|
1:04 |
Do you have any playoffs-only strategy stuff like Cameron’s bullpen game? |
1:04 |
: What about shuttling the outfielders from left to right depending on who’s your best defender and who’s at the plate?
|
1:04 |
I learn a lot in these chats, about baseball, and what goes through the heads of psychos. |
1:04 |
: That’s not nice, I’m just a little strange.
|
1:04 |
Why do you live in Palo Alto again? |
1:05 |
: Met my wife at school here, she works there, and the real answer is family.
|
1:05 |
What do you expect from Conforto next year? So far he’s been fantastic. |
1:06 |
: I’ll take a little power regression, but half his homers have been oppo, which is a *really* good sign. I’ll take the way over on the rest of season projections for next year.
|
1:06 |
Tell me why fantasy baseball is better than fantasy football. |
1:06 |
: Way bigger sample means that you’re seeing more true talent results and not the result of a bouncing oblong egg in 16 games.
|
1:06 |
and because Palo Alto is the best… obviously. not that I grew up there or anything |
1:07 |
: Fairly terrible college town but otherwise probably the best suburb in America.
|
1:07 |
Please rank for dynasty: Buchholz, Hendricks, Hammel, Medlen. |
1:07 |
: Hendricks Hammel Medlen
|

I’m in a holds league (dynasty) for the first time and I’m not sure what to do with the RPs I have. I managed to grab a lot of top relievers (Watson, Capps, Kela, McGee) and would like to keep them. But there are also a lot of unowned RPs that I could just grab next year. Do I keep these RPs instead of players like Souza, KDavis, Hammel, or Medlen? Or over a potential closer like Wilhelmson? |
1:08 |
: Holds guys are easy to grab. Try not to keep any of them, though Kela probably closest to being a closer next year, he’s somewhat tempting. Rather have Souza and Davis at least.
|
1:08 |
…because it’s better than Menlo Park |
1:08 |
: That is for sure.
|
1:08 |
Any off season beer meet-up’s in CalifornIA |
1:08 |
: Yeah we will have to do that. Trying to get a Pitch Talks to come out here.
|

RE: Palo Alto chat, I haven’t been able to keep up with your chats in a long time (stupid work). Is the Rose and Eno or the Eno Pro or whatever still in the works or did those dastardly kids get in the way? |
1:09 |
: Hey we should do a playoff game at the Rose and Crown. Won’t be a ton of people but could be fun and easier for me to do.
|
1:09 |
because real life football is going to be hard to explain to our grandchildren as something people were totally okay with |
1:09 |
you do any pieces on affeldt? (since he’s retiring) |
1:10 |
: Oh crap maybe I should go to the park Friday and talk to him then. He’s pretty cool. Talked to him a lot for the split-finger thing.
|
1:10 |
Why doesn’t Khris Davis get much love? He’s had a pretty darn good year considering he missed a little time |
1:11 |
: Maybe some real life stuff. Right-hander that kills lefties, has contact issues, and glove issues. Fantasy, he’s been what I’d hoped he’d be before I dropped him a few times. Whoops.
|
1:11 |
Do you have unlimited access to ballparks? |
1:11 |
: Yes but there’s no seat waiting for me.
|
1:11 |
I love Khris Davis purely because he is Chris Davis’ Wario. |
1:11 |
Most important Affeldt question will surely be about the Farnsworth spear |
1:11 |
: Will have to get that in.
|
1:11 |
What do you think of Ross Ohlendorf? Does he make the Rangers playoff roster? |
1:13 |
: Talked to Reddick about taking Ohlendorf yard and he told me that they’ve been facing each other since they were 10 or something, and that Ross would hear about the homer later that day. He also is the guy that won his arbitration case on FIP type stuff. Other than that, my cupboard is bare.

J.J. Hardy revealed Thursday morning that he has been playing the entire 2015 season with a torn labrum in his left (non-throwing) shoulder. |
1:13 |
: remember when we killed the Twins for trading an oft-broken-down shortstop for so little? we might have been right, but look what’s going on with Hardy recently.
|
1:13 |
Fun Fact: Chris Davis and Khris Davis have hit a HR on the same day 15 times, including 7 times this year alone. |
1:14 |
: Why no black hole on those days?
|
1:14 |
Why do you keep saying you prject steals for Domingo Santana. He never really had any big steals stats in the minors. |
1:15 |
: I do keep saying that? I mean I think he can steal 5-7 a year, he looks that way in the field and on the basepaths, and even though that’s not a lot, it does mean he’s not going to be a minus there. Average fantasy OF gets something like 8 steals.
|
1:16 |
Do you think Henry Owens will start to strike more guys in line with his high swinging strike rate? Or is he a guy who’s going to be limited by his fastball? |
1:17 |
: The sinker gets 8% whiffs! It is worse velocity than I thought he’s down. But the four-seam has rise, the sinker has great fade, the change looks good by gap and velo… The slider being 78 might be a problem at some point. I wish he was in the NL.
|
1:17 |
Yeah, do you think the Twins are on to something legit that we haven’t quite figured out? They seem to always come up with guys who are really good that I’ve never heard of. |
1:18 |
: I’ll give the Cardinals that before I give the Twins that. Eddie Rosario is going to regress next year IMO. Hicks had good minor league stats. Who else we talking about? Plouffe was decent in minor leagues too. The Cardinals are churning out high exit velocity guys right now.
|
1:18 |
If you had to leave all your fantasy leagues and are the commish of your only league next year, what are your settings? |
1:19 |
: My oldest league is dynasty 6×6 with OPS and Holds, which is simple and I’m okay with it. But it’s not deep enough for my taste. I think I’d go to 20 teams and add some lineup slots. Probably get rid of the minor league slots.
|
1:19 |
Christian Yelich is my favorite hitter to watch, and only 23! What’s Eno’s forecast for him? |
1:20 |
: I’m hoping he can do something like Brett Gardner. I can’t see more power until he really does something about that ground-ball rate.
|
1:20 |
Eno! Playing for the championship and I need a good 6-7 innings from my SPs. I’ve got Thor, Verlander, Matz, Happ. I’m thinking of starting Verlander and sitting Thor, as he seems like a safer play. Then if Verlander happens to give it up, I’ve got Happ/Matz to try to help correct ratios. What would you do??? Thanks! |
1:21 |
: Yeah they could sit Thor pretty easily, or let him pitch three or four. I like your plan.
|
1:21 |
How long will Sonny Gray stay with Oakland? |
1:22 |
: Under team control until 2019. Gets traded before 2017, maybe during this coming year if they stink again.
|
1:22 |
Hey, I asked you a question on Twitter but had a follow up…would you trade Chris Davis for Carlos Santana, Heyward, Tapia, and the 22nd pick? OBP league, I’m technically rebuilding but finished this year strong and could contend this season. Thanks! |
1:23 |
: I’d do that deal if Manaea was in it too. Even if you had to add another piece.
|
1:23 |
Giants starting pitching is somewhat of a mess. What’s their rotation going to look like next year? MadBum, Leake, FA, Peavy, Heston? MadBum, FA, FA, Heston, rookie? yuk |
1:23 |
: At least they got a bunch of money! I think they get Leake and another SP on the market.
|
1:23 |
Man oh man drooling over the Rose and Crown beer menu right now. 4 hour drive is a no-brainer |
1:24 |
: It is good! Even if that list you looking at might be old.
|
1:24 |
: Okay guys, people calling me and emailing me and I gotta go. Fun small group chat!
|
1:24 |
Yeah! |
With a phone full of pictures of pitchers' fingers, strange beers, and his two toddler sons, Eno Sarris can be found at the ballpark or a brewery most days. Read him here, writing about the A's or Giants at The Athletic, or about beer at October. Follow him on Twitter @enosarris if you can handle the sandwiches and inanity.
Hey Eno! Thanks for the chat. What are your thoughts on Erasmo Ramirez long term? Do you think he can improve on this season or is this his ceiling?
