12:00 |
Comment From Art VandelayAngry Jose Bautista is the best, even when he’s throwing out his own shoulder.
12:00 |
Eno Sarris: I can’t believe this is a hot take for some: I love bat flips.
12:01 |
Comment From XanderI asked this to August, but he didn’t want to touch Fantasy, so: I have a good problem. In my Keeper league, I have Sano, Bogaerts and Corey Seager for 2 spots, plus a utility spot. Should I keep all 3? Should I deal one for pitching (which is by far my weakness)? Who would you consider dealing of the 3? And keep in mind I’m a delusional Red Sox fan who loves Xander Bogaerts like a son.
12:01 |
Eno Sarris: I wonder if Sano isn’t the guy to deal here. No positional value, probably will hit .230 or so next year, lucky to hit .240 I think. And peak value, you’ll get what you want.
12:02 |
Comment From BorkSo now that Sam Dyson has joined the No Fun Allowed team (captained by Brian McCann), what’s their roster looking like?
12:02 |
Eno Sarris: Dude Sam Dyson’s stuff is ridiculous and McCann is like a top three catcher in the league so we’re off to a good if not fun start.
12:03 |
Comment From CTMikeWhich team, Dodgers or Mets, do you think will do a better job adjusting to seeing Greinke and Degrom for the second time in the series?
12:03 |
Eno Sarris: I have no idea. In a vaccum, if the players don’t die, I think I like the Dodgers lineup more! I know the results in second half favor the Mets, but there are more good hitters in the Dodgers lineup imo.
12:03 |
Comment From Toronto FanPowerful afterglow
12:04 |
Comment From NorthsiderI took a nap last night at the end of the 6th inning and woke up just in time for the start of the 8th. Could you give me a short recap of what I may have missed.
12:04 |
Comment From NorthsiderWas that the most chaotic inning in baseball history?
12:04 |
Eno Sarris: asked, and answered
12:04 |
Comment From NorthsiderI live in Chicago and have noticed a lot of stores are reducing prices on sours. I’m happy about the discounted prices, but is this a sign that they are less likely to be stocked or that the sour fade is slowing down?
12:04 |
Eno Sarris: Maybe the city has a different feel for the sour? Because NoCal loves it. The Rare Barrell wants $300 for ten sours over the course of a year in a special society and it sold out in like ten minutes.
12:05 |
Comment From JohnDavid Peralta had a big 2nd half. His high BABIP helped, but he’s also top 25 in average exit velocity. What do you expect from him in 2016? .280, 22/10, and 80/80 reasonable? Thanks.
12:06 |
Eno Sarris: I’d be careful about projecting too much growth. He’s 28. I know it’s “not his fault he’s old” as Billy Beane said to me about Joey Wendle, because he was a pitcher, but we might have seen his best last year. Which was pretty good.
12:06 |
Comment From Toronto FanI didn’t know it until I saw it, but I’ve been waiting my entire life for that game.
12:06 |
Eno Sarris: I kinda feel we all were waiting for that to happen. It was amazing. So glad a few idiots throwing crap didn’t ruin it for people.
12:06 |
Comment From Tomi live near the border with the northern lands, which means we have tim horton’s. went their for breakfast, the staff bat flipped my sandwich into my bag, amazing. also they have good coffee.
12:06 |
Comment From Reginald Denton IIIWill there be a price on Bautista’s head next year? I would think so.
12:07 |
Comment From LarryAIve become obsessed with the Yankees no-beard policy:
1) how is that legal, what if it was a religious thing?
2) Whats the limit, if i guy shaves in the monring and has a 7pm shadow by gametime is that OK?
3) Who is in charge of policing this rule?
4) if someone on Bryce Harpers level was ready to sign a FA deal with the Yankees but said, “I have a beard, I wont sign unless I can keep it”. What would they do?
Dont just lude me, I need answers!
12:07 |
Eno Sarris: Dude I hate that policy. If I signed a big long deal there I’d shave for the signing and then never shave again and see what happened. Honestly. I hate piddly crap like this.
12:07 |
Comment From TomNot to mention the no-fun team has Madison Bumgarner to anchor the staff! They’re in pretty good shape already.
12:08 |
Eno Sarris: Truth, we now have perhaps the three most important pieces for a single game win.
12:08 |
Comment From LarryASo if Stolen bases decrease with age, does that mean odds are Betts doesnt get to 21 SBs next year?
12:09 |
Eno Sarris: He’s 23, I’ll give him a year or two of possible growth, but I wouldn’t project more than 25.
12:09 |
Comment From klofI have Russell ($9), Lindor ($6) Correa ($9), and Kang ($15) in FGPts. Only Russell has 2B eligibility so he seems like a keep, but which of the others would you trade/has the most trade value? Or should I try to keep all 4? (pre-arb prices)
12:09 |
Eno Sarris: I think you keep all four because Kang is the obvious trader because of price and age upside, but also would get the least in trade. You can play him at 3B/UT/ use him to pump up PA at MI positions.
12:10 |
Comment From dudie buttyou holding on to Eovaldi in deep dynasty/keeper?
12:10 |
Eno Sarris: As long as you have a little more time to debate it and wait for health news. If he doesn’t have surgery or anything, yes.
12:10 |
Comment From Art Vandelayway to rub it in that I didn’t get in the ambassadors jerk.
12:10 |
Eno Sarris: Well, dude, it opened while I was here chatting, so I didn’t either.
12:10 |
Comment From GaroldDo you think Dyson’s mind just kind of snapped after that HR? There’s no other way to explain his behavior with EE and Tulo, right?
12:10 |
Eno Sarris: Uh he really patted Tulo’s butt which is just Bizarre.
12:11 |
Comment From BradDyson criticism is out of control. How would people feel if they gave up that homer, and the batter stares at you and throws bat at his team’s dugout. We all would be pissed too. Why is Bautista allowed to show emotion but Dyson can’t?
12:11 |
Eno Sarris: Oh that part is fine, but the Tulo thing was just weird.
12:11 |
Comment From Jake Arrietas BeardCubs fans should be pulling for the Mets tonight, right? That seems like the better matchup, and might as well get that 1969 monkey off the back while we’re at it….
12:11 |
Eno Sarris: Unless the difference is super obvious, I don’t think rooting for a specific team works out the way you want. What if you get the Mets and then Harvey Thor deGrom lights out?
12:12 |
Comment From LarryAWatching a playoff game, you at least have the game on, a FG chat window, twitter, how many screens/tabs are you operating?
12:13 |
Eno Sarris: Gotta open spotify for music ideas, have eight tabs on Yahoo, six on Chrome (which is super light weight for me), twitter, coveritlive, game. Got my computer hooked up to monitor so three screens.
12:13 |
Comment From BorkOne great thing about last night is it gets non-baseball fans talking about baseball in the office. The latest conversation I’ve heard is Andrus was paid off to blow the game.
12:13 |
Eno Sarris: Also good was the commenter saying that the Rangers did the whole thing on purpose which is just crazy talk imo.
12:14 |
Comment From LarryAWait a moment, when you see the bat flip in its entirety from the OF angle, the bat doesnt actually travel that far. It barely makes it outside the left batter box
12:14 |
Eno Sarris: I think the stare might have done as much for the anger as the flip.
12:14 |
Comment From Eddie BrockESPN player rater had three pitchers, AJ Pollock, and Dee Gordon in the top five this year. How should I react to this.
12:14 |
Eno Sarris: Steals fell off big time this year. It doesn’t mean the same thing will happen next year.
12:15 |
Comment From Miggy AzaleaRe: The no beard policy – can something like that actually be enforced onto a player if he wants the higher ups to drink a nice tall glass of STFU?
12:15 |
Eno Sarris: Yeah could they really suspend a player for facial hair?? Maybe they could take team endorsements away but if I just got $150M from them…
12:15 |
Comment From EthanGood day, Eno. Are there styles of beer that are better for aging than others, or styles that shouldn’t be aged?
12:16 |
Eno Sarris: Yes very much. IPAs should not be aged, pretty much no pale ales or session pales. Lagers don’t gain much. Pilsners don’t gain or lose that much, but new pilsners have hops in them so I’d drink them fresh. Imperial barrel-aged stouts, stouts, porters, those are the best to age. Sours, too. Saisons sometimes get tarter.
12:17 |
Comment From pBHow is jumping up and down and high giving screaming high fives by the dug out after scoring a run different than a bat flip?
12:17 |
Eno Sarris: Maybe there’s something personal about the matchup between the hitter and the pitcher and the focus/ TV focus on the batter in that moment that makes it a big deal? I mean, celebrate young man, you just ate the whole pie.
12:17 |
Comment From jasonone game today… a a large pizza to myself…hopefully a quick win for the metstabolism
12:17 |
Eno Sarris: weird, this was next in the queue
12:17 |
Comment From klofchances that little glass case over schwarber’s videoboard roof ball ends up staying there forever? feels like the cubs creating quirky, shrine spots in an already pilgrimmed to ballpark.
12:18 |
Eno Sarris: Probably fun unless it reminds people of the time they got close but didn’t get it in which case people will try to take it down.
12:18 |
Comment From JohnI read your article on Andrew Heaney. Do you expect him to start adding some Ks with the improved change to go with the good slider? Top 40 pitcher for 2016?
12:19 |
Eno Sarris: Yeah I think all he needs to do is throw the slider more for more swSTR/K. I like him.
12:19 |
Comment From klofwould the nats TRADE harper a year before his big pay day? seems like he would leave anyway at this point but would the fanbase stand for it? how many prospects will the yankees have to give up for him??
12:19 |
Eno Sarris: Prime guy for hometown huge extension, IMO.
12:19 |
Comment From BorkNext time Bautista (or anyone) hits a home run, they should just flip out like a pitcher does after a strike out. Since that’s allowed and/or respectable.
12:19 |
Eno Sarris: People got mad at the Mejia stomp and it does turn back around.
12:19 |
Comment From klofthe halloween Enjoy By is SOSO SO SO SO GOOD mango melon honey orange stickiness yes!
12:20 |
Eno Sarris: Yah I don’t get why people don’t like it, I thought it was great. I got some stone fruit with the tropical but man yes it was great.
12:20 |
Comment From Pale HoseAgree that beard policy is dumb, but I don’t see how it is different from a dress code.
12:20 |
Eno Sarris: Sure but are there team dress codes or are they league-enforced?
12:21 |
Comment From #barvesIs Matt Wisler top of the rotation material? He looks the part but pitchers are so hard to project.
12:22 |
Eno Sarris: No I don’t think so. Change looks bad to me, curve big and slow and obvious, fastballs decently fast but not amazingly commanded or have great movement. Gives up homers on the fastballs, which is a bad sign IMO.
12:22 |
Comment From BorkWhat do they Jays do with Osuna next year? He’s got all the tools for a starter but damn is he a good closer.
12:22 |
Eno Sarris: People tell me they talking about him starting.
12:22 |
Comment From Art Vandelay
obligatory "Homer at the Bat" reference
12:23 |
Comment From CTWHow do I pick two of these guys in a triple slash keeper? If it matters I would only get Posey for 2 more years, the other guys for 3. Posey Mookie Arenado deGrom
12:23 |
Eno Sarris: I would need Arenado most of all. I love deGrom but put up against bats like this… Mookie second.
12:23 |
Comment From LarryANot your fathers Rootbeer? Hey I like going to A&W with my dad, getting burgers and 2 tall Root beers!
12:23 |
Eno Sarris: (and spiking the root beers?)
12:23 |
Comment From Trolley DodgersJustin Turner should dye his beard blue and white, orange is a Mets color.
12:24 |
Comment From Bork
They didn't say anything about hair policy tho.
12:24 |
Comment From BorkIf the no fun team had a team dress code what would it be? Full amish outfits?
12:24 |
Eno Sarris: This lude was dedicated to the way I would dress if I were a major leaguer: amish, except in the hair, where I would be Josh Johnson.
12:24 |
Comment From Joe From TorontoIs it wrong that Drew Hutchinson has shaken my faith in FIP?
12:24 |
Eno Sarris: FIP is a hammer. We have finer tools at our disposal these days.
12:25 |
Comment From Joe From TorontoBTW… GOOOOOO JAYS!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOO
12:25 |
Comment From Another Toronto FanI’m so hungover right now
12:25 |
Comment From Art VandelayIf Andrus was trying to throw the game, he’s not very subtle.
12:26 |
Comment From Joe From TorontoJoey Bats is a hammer!!!

Comment From klofare white sox fans who cheer for the cardinals terrorists?

Comment From ShazbotBaseball gods or no baseball gods?
12:26 |
Comment From BorkWho you got in Jays/Royals series?
12:27 |
Eno Sarris: Jays. Those bats are rolling again. I think they can figure out the pen.
12:27 |
Comment From Pale HoseEno is a never nude. No problems with dress code.
12:27 |
Eno Sarris: Yeah pretty much.
12:29 |
Comment From IMOEno, you say IMO to end your answers too often, IMO
12:29 |
Comment From RotoLandoOh yeah, it’s Thursday! Hi, Thursday chat guy!
12:29 |
Comment From BorkI kind of hope Cueto and Price match up just for a battle of the rentals.
12:30 |
Eno Sarris: Rent-a-game IMO
12:30 |
Comment From eelzI asked you on twitter about building a bullpen of plus fastball guys with > 20% SwStrk. You said sure but to hope for command/left-handedness. I am just having a hard time envisioning how this couldn’t work.
12:32 |
Eno Sarris: Just went and called up small sample slider guys from 2014 to check this out. Jordan Walden, Josh Outman, Brandon Gomes, Sergio Sanots, Luis Garcia, David Purcey, Cory Gearrin: I need to run the year to year stickiness on these things still, and find out when you can really believe in these numbers I guess I’m saying. But yes, if I worked for a team, I’d have a list of these guys ready.
12:32 |
Comment From Johnny5Aliveyou realize if they call that utley play properly in the first place, we probably arent even having a game today?
12:32 |
Eno Sarris: That play made me very angry. We don’t know what would have happened, but that play made me very angry.
12:32 |
Comment From Toronto FanThat game 5 seems like could galvanize a team, if that exists
12:32 |
Eno Sarris: Or, at the very least, calm the pressing.
12:33 |
Comment From Joe From TorontoDo you think there will ever be a year where SO many guys have legit Rookie of the Year numbers, but have ZERO chance of even getting a first place vote?
12:33 |
Eno Sarris: Of course. the game is getting younger and players are debuting closer to their peaks.
12:33 |
Comment From LarryABrett Anderson in 2 games of the CS if the Dodgers advance? How did we come to this?
12:33 |
Eno Sarris: Not a great attention to depth, or the depth pieces didn’t work out.
12:34 |
Comment From eelzWas Tulo too touchy re: Dyson’s tushy tap?
12:34 |
Eno Sarris: An expected butt slap is welcomed and fine. An unexpected one in that position… I’d probably say something back like wtf.
12:35 |
Comment From MiketronWhich team still standing does the 7 game series hurt the most? I would think the Cubs or Royals with their lack of pitching depth.
12:35 |
Comment From DowryWhat % of league championship $ winnings should be used to purchase a gift for your GF/wife, who had to listen to fantasy nonsense for 8 straight months?
12:35 |
Eno Sarris: 10-20%. I mean, you did the work.
12:35 |
Comment From DeeWhat should the Padres do at SS? Try to sign a FA: Cabrera or Desmond? Trade for Castro/Baez, Lowrie, Miller, Escobar, Ramirez?
12:35 |
Eno Sarris: Not sure if Desmond is going to age well. I’d try to get Castro.
12:35 |
Comment From MikeIf he invites you, and providing the Jays went all the way, would you be at Munenori’s bush party?
12:36 |
Eno Sarris: You know I’d be in Appelman’s and my wife’s ear like five seconds after the game ended.
12:36 |
Comment From VicYou what worries me? A 90+ year old Cub fan that dies less than a week before the Cubs finally win a World Series. That’s just sad.
12:36 |
Eno Sarris: Yes that is sad.
12:37 |
Comment From eelzCan you lobby for SwStrk+ (relative to league average) to be a thing that is a thing on FG?
12:37 |
Eno Sarris: I’d rather have it by pitch type if that’s what you mean. Although that would take away one of my twitter shticks.
12:38 |
Comment From Toronto Fan“You know I’d be in Appelman’s and my wife’s ear like five seconds after the game ended.” What does this mean? Where are you going to be?
12:38 |
Eno Sarris: I’d be asking them for permission/funding to attend Munenori Kawasaki’s bush party.
12:38 |
Comment From LarryAPeople talking as if Epstien should go straight to HOF is the cubs win the WS, but the narrative of breaking 2 droughts is just that. He had large roles in Cubs and Sawx, but he didnt even draft these cubs. What someone like Sabean or Cashman did is way more impressive, right?
12:39 |
Eno Sarris: I think you have to add pieces to home-grown pieces, and you have to grow the pieces and put them in the right places and hire the right coaches. Not saying Cash and Sabean don’t deserve kudos, but I give Theo propers.
12:39 |
Comment From Frequent Butt TapperI get Tulo’s reaction all the time.
12:39 |
Eno Sarris: Imagine if you went around goosing people.
12:40 |
Comment From ryanhot take on Condé Nast acquisition of Pitchfork
12:40 |
Eno Sarris: Shouldn’t mean much for now but could make for more fun in the future. super hot take right
12:41 |
Comment From MiketronI can’t wait until the playoffs are over and the chat gets real weird…
12:41 |
Comment From Miketronhot take on hot cakes
12:41 |
Comment From BorkIf the Cubs win the WS will it end the drought of terrible Chicago pizza?
12:42 |
Comment From Klaus von ScheisseDo you think Gary Sanchez can be an average to above-avg starting C?
12:43 |
Eno Sarris: .240/.300/.400 seems like a best-case scenario, which is actually above-average. I was going to but .390 though, and that’s basically average.
12:43 |
Comment From WardoHow much do you think the Untappd “gotta check ’em all” mindset of a certain subset of beer drinkers influences the way certain brewers operate? I’m thinking specifically of Trillium, who rolls out a new beer or a new dry-hopped version of an existing beer practically every other week. Is there a dynamic at play where they realize I might not spend my lunch break grabbing Congress Street, but I’m definitely gonna make the effort for a one time only Azacca Dry-Hopped Congress St. that’s 2 bottles pp?
12:44 |
Eno Sarris: I love new beers. I consider it a bit of a weakness, but I love new combinations. When I eat food, I start by eating a little bit of everything. Then I start combining things differently. By the end, I’m trying to get a piece of everything on one fork. I’m made for new beers.
12:45 |
Comment From Klaus von ScheisseWhat are your thoughts on Brandon Drury? How is his bat and how’s his D? What kind of future does he have?
12:46 |
Eno Sarris: Projections have him striking out 2o% of the time or so, and that’s off, given his debut and minor league stats this year. I think new projections will be more like .260/.310/.400, which means he can play at second or third.
12:46 |
Comment From RotoLandoIt would take a legendary combination of leg strength, commitment and coordination, but I would love to see someone do the M.C. Hammer dance all the way around the bases for a HR trot.
12:46 |
Eno Sarris: CAN’T TOUCH THIS
12:47 |
Comment From Johnny5Aliveput your rooting interests aside, cameron thought like 40%, what do you think the mets chances are?
12:48 |
Eno Sarris: Isn’t it closer to 50/50? I mean deGrom is deBusiness. I don’t know. I thought my fandom was done but I have the goosebumps and the butterflies and the game is like seven hours away.
12:48 |
Comment From GuestI care very little for Theo Epstein’s legacy, but I’m somewhat baffled by the idea that 4 years of management isn’t enough to deserve credit for success. iirc literally only Castro remains on the club from before his tenure, and Baez is the only starter from the system before his arrival.
12:48 |
Eno Sarris: Yeah I mean he drafted Schwarber and Bryant and signed Soler, right? and I CRUSH on those guys.
12:48 |
Comment From anonWhat is the best rotation setup for the cubs in nlcs?
12:48 |
Eno Sarris: Arrieta Lester Arrieta Lester Arrieta
12:49 |
Comment From AmpersandI normally love sours but I bought a six-pack that I just do not enjoy at all. Claims to be a hoppy sour beer but just tastes like carbonated unsweetened lemon juice. Any suggestions of ways to make it palatable? Maybe mix it with something?
12:49 |
Eno Sarris: I wonder if you mixed it with a thick amber, if you’d end up with a juicy IPA type beer…
12:49 |
Comment From LarryAWill you go next summer to the Pitchfork/Teen Vogue Music festival?
12:49 |
Eno Sarris: hahahahaahaha yes if my wife lets me
12:50 |
Comment From houdinimissing the point on Yankees beards – you get paid to be a yankee but part of being a yankee is being held to a higher standard. they look for a certain type of cat to lavish with riches
12:50 |
Eno Sarris: I see nothing about beard choices that correlates with or signifies higher standards.
12:50 |
Comment From Johnny5Alivei joined a brewing club last night
12:51 |
Eno Sarris: Congrats! The local brew club has spawned three breweries here.
12:51 |
Comment From Art VandelayI seriously want to certified mail an empty envelope so I have an excuse to leave work 30 minutes early and commute back to my home bar in time for the game.
12:51 |
Eno Sarris: YES THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT
12:51 |
Eno Sarris: (also I have ticket to tonights UCLA/Stanford game so today is going to be all sorts of crazy)
12:51 |
Comment From MiketronIs Dylan Bundy forever ruined?
12:52 |
Eno Sarris: I don’t really like what they are doing in Baltimore. I think they are being too prescriptive with their pitchers. React to the specifics of the pitcher you have in front of you!
12:52 |
Comment From Johnny5Alivehow long would an MC Hammer dance around the bases take, though, you know mlb is trying to speed up the game
12:53 |
Eno Sarris: Well Hammer actually did his like he was on speed maybe he was so if you did it real time, you might be faster than say David Ortiz http://tatertrottracker.com…
12:53 |
Comment From BorkOnly if the M.C. Hammer dance is done with Dyson pitching and McCann catching.
12:53 |
Comment From KesCoopThe bat flip. Batters celebrating home runs in big spots like Bautista did has been going on forever. See clips of playoff home runs for Bobby Thompson, Kirk Gibson, Carlton Fisk. Why such a big deal now?
12:53 |
Comment From Johnny5Alivei find myself catching myself from crying thinking about the mets and what could happen tonight
12:53 |
Comment From ColbyDidnt he draft Rizzo with the Sox too and trade for him?
12:53 |
Comment From anonWhat should we expect from schwarber next year? regression? 20% of games behind the plate?
12:54 |
Eno Sarris: The K% / batting average thing could go either way, but most likely a little regression as they find some holes. I’ve seen some awkward swings on pitches inside.
12:54 |
Comment From GuestWas there bad blood between toronto and texas or bautista and dyson? def get a “come at me bro” vibe from bautista on that bat flip, not just joyful showboating.
12:54 |
Eno Sarris: Perhaps they felt that the Choo play was on purpose? I think there’s been a little jawing.
12:54 |
Comment From Johnny5AliveDamon went from Jesus to corporate for all that yankee cash
12:55 |
Eno Sarris: Yes that was not a thing that made me happy.
12:55 |
Comment From RotoLandoThere is a German restaurant 4 minutes away from the hospital we’ve picked out. Once my wife goes into labor, how many liters can I get in, and is this advisable at all?
12:55 |
Eno Sarris: Actually not crazy because you might spend 12 hours trying to sleep sitting down, which should be easier with drink.
12:56 |
Comment From Miketronwe need Statcast data on MC Hammer Dance times!
12:56 |
Comment From ChristianHow do you feel about Dogfish Head? I toured their brewery and like their brews a lot but they are definitely expensive and I get the sense many people find them gimmicky.
12:56 |
Eno Sarris: They like Mikkeller in that they try everything. Sometimes those things are awesome. Many/most times they are not. But their best is up there with anyone’s still.
12:56 |
Comment From GeorgieWhat kind of player do you forsee syndergaard being down the road? matz?

Eno Sarris: I could see Thor being great in between TJ surgeries. Matz may find more ways to injure himself, he just seems to do that. Also, I’m still wondering if those secondary pitches are going to be better than average. If not, he could be Cashner from the left side. Actually, that’s a decent comp.

12:58 |
Comment From DougYou think Matt Duffy is a decent long term keeper? Top 75 guys?
12:59 |
Eno Sarris: No, I’m a little skeptical. Might be a .280/10/10 guy, a Scutaro type. Useful but top 75, you kinda want more upside.

Comment From GuestDave thinks Cubs move Castro this offseason and go with Baez/Russell up the middle. Castro’s cheap, and I still don’t see him having a ton of value given two pretty shoddy seasons in recent memory; he frankly may be best suited as a super backup. Thoughts?
1:00 |
Eno Sarris: I think the Cub will be looking for pitching and Castro may have saved his value enough to get them something okay. With LaStella, they have backup plan at second, too. Seems ripe for trade.

Comment From Whats that odorKeep next year: Odor or Schwarber?
1:01 |
Eno Sarris: Schwarber on the chance that he catches.
1:01 |
Comment From GuestRangers clearly have been working on that play all year, right? Look at all the clips of their batters purposefully taking up a ton of space in the box while runners on third pay close attention.
1:01 |
Eno Sarris: I think this is crazy.
1:02 |
Comment From Will GrahamDo the Cubs really need pitching, though? Arrieta/Lester/Hendricks is a really good front 3, and they have a ton of options for the 4th/5th spot. It’s not that big of a priority.
1:02 |
Eno Sarris: I think they need pitching as much as they need anything, and Hendricks as a fourth is better than as a third (duh but still).
1:03 |
Comment From GuestFriend of mine who worked spring training for Rangers said he saw them practicing it for months.
1:04 |
Eno Sarris: Oh god really. I don’t know. It’s an argument that it’s legal, basically, or why would they practice it. But for one run, maybe, one time?
1:04 |
Comment From Art VandelayThink the chance is there to see a Harvey/Syndergaard relief appearence? In a close must-win game, do they still let Familia go four or five outs? How long is deGrom’s leash? Generally speaking, how do you think the Mets pitching works out tonight?
1:05 |
Eno Sarris: Definitely a chance of a starter, but which one. Maybe Matz first, since lefty.
1:05 |
Comment From GuestI’m completely joking btw, this is an absurd idea. Are people really saying this was somehow rehearsed?
1:06 |
Comment From Art Vandelay*frantically deleting my rant about the idiocy of calling it a designed play*

Comment From sherlockNot only are the Mets pitchers amazing, they’re also intimidatingly good looking. Why isn’t life fair?

Comment From ChristianI think the Yankee dress code adds to their Evil Empire mystique. Damon forsaking the beard for the pinstripes just kinda cemented the betrayal thing. A clean shaven, productive Dustin Ackley will get booed at Safeco (even though the Mariners gave up on him) where if he went to Cleveland or something he’d just be ignored.

Comment From JoeGet a chance to drink any Baltimore/DC beers much? Dogfish, Flying Dog, DC Brau are all good, but any new ones to know?
1:07 |
Eno Sarris: I hear Blue Jacket is good
1:07 |
Comment From GuestSurly WET was a HUGE disappointment to me. Crazy because I love all their stuff uniformly, but this tasted like white wine or something to me? And $20 for a 4-pack, woof.
1:07 |
Eno Sarris: oh man really? Still want it.
1:07 |
Comment From JohnWould you rather have Puig or Soler in a dynasty league? Close?
1:07 |
Eno Sarris: yeah close but Puig offers better upside for batting average with the power.
1:07 |
Comment From Another Toronto FanHow does a guy like Pillar go in the 32nd round? I mean that guy is slick in the field
1:07 |
Eno Sarris: The bat, I’d guess.
1:08 |
Comment From Johnny5Alivedo you even play duda? id almost say kelly johnson could be doing what duda’s been giving you…
1:08 |
Eno Sarris: I’d play him against a righty, yes.
1:08 |
Comment From fatsso, is stroman an ace going forward or what?
1:08 |
Eno Sarris: Traded a lot of swSTR for GB, which is weird. Still great stuff.
1:08 |
Comment From ArchieEarly keeper question, please sir. Need to pick 3 from: Cole, Harvey, Bogaerts, Betts & Schwarber. Thanks!
1:09 |
Eno Sarris: Take the batters. You’ll help flood the first round with pitchers that you can take there.
1:09 |
Comment From GuestBluejacket is kinda meh unfortunately. I like Right Proper (a lot of mildly wild things like saisons), and Ocelot is making nice IPAs out in Virginia. For how many breweries we have it’s remarkable how few inspire, though that’s probably true everywhere.
1:09 |
Eno Sarris: Top top shelf out here in NoCal are probably Cellarmaker, Fieldwork, Rare Barrell. Couple of other big names have dropped off a bit. Russian River if you want to count it.

With a phone full of pictures of pitchers' fingers, strange beers, and his two toddler sons, Eno Sarris can be found at the ballpark or a brewery most days. Read him here, writing about the A's or Giants at The Athletic, or about beer at October. Follow him on Twitter @enosarris if you can handle the sandwiches and inanity.
on the tiny chance the guy asking for beer recommendations in Baltimore is looking……I’ve never been there, but Stillwater artisanal is one of my favorite brewers.
I’ve had a few that have made it down to Whole Foods in DC. I’m hoping to go up to them in Baltimore soon.
