Eno Sarris Baseball Chat — 2/11/16

1:37
Eno Sarris: be here soon! in the meantime, this track is awesome

12:02
Chad: Is Danny Duffy gonna get a rotation spot?

12:02
Eno Sarris: I guess he can keep Chris Young at arms length, but I doubt he has much more than 100 IP.

12:02
Barney: When can we expect to see Zips projections added to player pages?

12:02
Eno Sarris: Once they all done!

12:02
Miketron: Could Raisel outperform Carlos Carrasco this year or am I going too far?

12:03
Eno Sarris: Too far. Versus price, maybe.

12:03
Alex: Enosaurus, my league needs help. We are a head-to-head points league and all enjoy that format better than roto. Please do not judge us. The problem we run into is that our week essentially turns into “who can start the most pitchers” every week. We’ve capped transactions to two per week, but I still don’t feel like this is enough. How do normal points leagues avoid this problem?

12:03
Eno Sarris: Toggling the starting pitching points so that bad starts are more negative?

12:03
Chad: Reported that Oberholtzer looks to get 5th spot in rotation and that VV could use more seasoning…Why? He’s seasoned enough and at worst his “lack of seasoning” has to be 10 times the seasoning that Oberholtzer has.

12:04
Eno Sarris: Could be service time, could be ‘let’s see what we got,’ could be about managing the innings for VV. I was worried about this, but I do think VV gets 100+ in MLB.

12:04
Miketron: Returning TJ guys, who you got McCarthy or Bailey?

12:04
Eno Sarris: Bailey had it earlier and had more of a track record, right?

12:04
Zonk: The White Sox payroll last year was $120 mil. Right now, it sits at almost exactly $120 mil. I wonder if this is the whole reason the White Sox are seemingly doing little to nothing to address gaping holes. Sure, Latos, but what about SS and OF? Do you think Hahn is under a strict spending cap?

12:04
Eno Sarris: Aren’t they hot and heavy with Ian Desmond now?

12:04
Q-Ball: What remaining non-QO free agents do you find interesting? Some potential gets there for the bargain-bin shoppers?

12:04
Eno Sarris: Desmond.

12:05
one sirras: Eno, 14 team league deciding between an 18th rd Richards and a 20th rd Stroman as my final keeper. Who ya got?

12:05
Eno Sarris: Stroman. Richards not guaranteed to K more guys, and you get two more rounds.

12:05
Heinz: Still buying Keuchel as an ace this season?

12:06
Eno Sarris: Not really. He’s outside my my 17-pitcher first tier. I think the Ks will go back to 7 per nine.

12:06
DLowe: Hi Eno! Who do you think will have a better year as a closer in 2016? Britton or Giles? Looking at both saves totals and peripherals.

12:06
Eno Sarris: Britton.

12:06
Q-Ball: $3 mil for Latos seems like a worthwhile risk. He’s only 28, history of performance, and he pitched OK last year in a down year. Is his personality/history the reason so many teams were Latos intolerant?

12:06
Eno Sarris: But Latos is the Freshmaker! I think injuries have robbed him of effectiveness, but yes at $3m he’s a great bet. If he’s healthier, he’ll be much better than that.

12:07
K. REN: I HAVE DADDY ISSUES!!!!

12:07
billy m.: i am the heir to a hotel company, but my dad is making me repeat school to prove that i am competent enough to handle the company. advice?

12:07
The Cincinnati Kid: Paint me like one of your French girls

12:07
Eno Sarris: well done people, well done all around.

12:07
Hero: Lots of cold water thrown on Sonny Gray during SP discussions on podcast. I play in a H2H points league and in ’14 he finished as a top 15 SP and in ’15 he was top 11. Talk to me in those terms, and not Roto. You expect the same results from him this season or doesn’t matter the league setting, he will regress?

12:08
Eno Sarris: The problem is mostly Ks and the fact that mostly people that K and BB as much as he does have worse ERAs. But as long as he stays in Oakland, and if you don’t really have an innings cap, He should be top 20 again at the very least.

12:09
Q-Ball: Speaking of potential bargain free agents, why the lack of action on Austin Jackson? Is he holding out for too much? He isn’t what he was, but he’s still young, a 2-win player who plays a premium defensive position competently. He’s a good fit somewhere, am I right?

12:09
Eno Sarris: May end up a backup/fourth guy, but should get an MLB deal.

12:10
Hero: Is Mookie Betts going to get better or did we see what he will be? He finished as a top 16 bat in my league (H2H points) so I’m not complaining but hard to see him rise above that. Thoughts?

12:10
Eno Sarris: I think the growth will come from his walk rate. More times on base could mean more steals. But even though he’s 23, I can’t imagine he’s going to develop much more power.

12:11
Poe Cameron: Eno, are you going to Pitchfork again this year?

12:11
Eno Sarris: Hopefully. Haven’t asked the wife piece yet.

12:11
kim: Was Matt Duffy’s 2015 a mirage?

12:12
Eno Sarris: Only in terms of counting stats, maybe. He can make contact, play decent defense, maybe even steal a few more bases. But not betting on more/same power.

12:12
The Cincinnati Kid: With Gattis injured, what’s the % chance Reeds breaks camp with the Astros or still 0?

12:13
Eno Sarris: Higher than zero. But I heard four to six weeks, and hitters only need two weeks to get going, so it may not be a big deal.

12:13
Cecil Fielder: Hey Eno-heading up to Portland, Maine for the weekend with my girlfriend. Any advice on breweries to hit, or avoid? Any bar suggetions?

12:13
Eno Sarris: Don’t know Portland that well, but Cascade and Hair of the Dog are the musts that I’ve tried.

12:13
GucciFritos: Enoooo! So I was just offered his Correa for my Sano and C Martinez in a 12 tm h2h pts keeper league. This is a no brainer right? I’m high on Sano and C Mart but the opportunity to get Correa seems too good to pass up…

12:14
Eno Sarris: man i would love to build a team on CC. Yes for me.

12:14
Batman: no amount of e coli is going to stand in between me and this 6 pound chipotle burrito. see you on the other side.

12:14
The homie : Yoooo what it do Eno

12:15
shubbles: over/under: my wookie or my cookie?

12:15
Eno Sarris: wow that one barely came together.

12:16
Saska: Which fringe-y SP would you keep, Shoemaker or Hutchison? I was surprised they have pretty similar Steamer/Fan projections.

12:16
Eno Sarris: Shoemaker. Nice park.

12:16
Sammy: What beer do you like most that others seem to hate on? Conversely, which beer do you dislike most that many people love?

12:16
Eno Sarris: For me liking more than otherss: AleSmith X? Knee Deep Breaking Bud? Or the opposite. Fat Tire? Anchor Steam?

12:17
some guy: For ~$3m+incentives, it seems that Cliff Lee would’ve been the better gamble than Mat Latos (assuming that was even an option), right?

12:17
Eno Sarris: Not for me. Lee tried to pitch with this exact situation last year and it didn’t really work out.

12:17
Jeet: Trumbo with consistent ABs in Camden Yards and playing so many away games in the Bronx, Fenway and Toronto. Wide awake sleeper?

12:17
Eno Sarris: Late power, sure.

12:17
Johnny Bench: Can you name a few American League catchers that can be had for $1, but possibly provide value? Basically any bottom of the barrel catchers worthy of targeting?

12:19
Eno Sarris: Those are the worst values in baseball!! Michael McKenry may push his way into a role, I guess. Hank Conger? JR Murphy probably going to cost a few bucks.

12:19
Hannah Hochevar: Just because the O’s make the most sense to sign Gallardo doesn’t mean they HAVE to, right? They are free to make their own decisions. Odd that for their too big off-season signings (him and Crush) they are essentially bidding only against themselves.

12:19
Eno Sarris: And making bad decisions if you ask me. Gallardo is not good.

12:19
Mookie the Wookie: Hey Eno! Auction Calculator question. When I plug in my leagues scoring 12 team, $280, 7×7 (R,HR,RBI, SB, OBP, SLG, K ) ( BB / 9, K / 9, K / BB, QS, ERA, WHIP, SV ) the calculator seems to value Kershaw at about $120, Scherzer and Sale at $70+. While Trout and Harper are valued at about $60 a piece. Can you help me understand what’s going on? Is pitching over valued in this league?

12:20
Eno Sarris: K/9 and BB/9 makes elite starting pitchers really valuable and pushes most of the rest of the starting pitching useless. That setting really favors stacking up on relievers with a couple aces.

12:20
Texas Dolly: Who’s most likely to take over in Texas should Tolleson stumble?

12:20
Eno Sarris: Dyson first. Kela second.

12:20
Joey in China: Do you think Corey Seager will be more of a .280 20 80 player or more of a .300 30 100 player?

12:21
Eno Sarris: .280. 30 still possible though.

12:21
Matt: I saw a few people say that it wouldn’t be crazy to see Christian Arroyo at the big league level this year. Thoughts?

12:21
Eno Sarris: Giants don’t have to push him unless third base is a problem. I bet not.

12:22
Hank: Is there a prospect that hasn’t already played in the majors (sorry Corey Seager) that you see having a big impact on a pennant race this season?

12:23
Eno Sarris: JP Crawford could be useful in late year, but not in a pennant race obviously, had to look again at the question lol. Julio Urias? Tyler Glasnow? Alex Reyes? Nomar Mazara?

12:23
Closer Vulture: Please rank in terms of best bet to eventually take over the closer role: Benoit, Madson, Colome.

12:23
Eno Sarris: You got it, though maybe Madson first.

12:24
Bill: Most people seem to think that Paxton is going to start at AAA this year. What happens if he pitches well down there and nobody in the rotation gets hurt or pitches particularly poorly? He just keeps pitching well in AAA?

12:24
Eno Sarris: Someone in that rotation will be hurt. That rotation includes Hisashi Iwakuma last time I checked!

12:25
rp guru: Silvino Bracho outlook?

12:25
Eno Sarris: Works his way into the 7th/8th, but not closing just yet.

12:25
James: Listened to you last year and got great bargains on Desclafani and Rasiel in my NL only. Is Lamb the guy this year? Any others?

12:26
Eno Sarris: Finnegan, Conley, Velasquez, Davies. Along with Lamb.

12:26
ken: When the off season began, Puig was almost a lock to be traded. Nothing happened though. Is it because Mattingly left?

12:26
Eno Sarris: I don’t think Friedman cares much about clubhouse chemistry. I think they might have heard some good offers, but the rumors were overblown.

12:27
Eno Sarris: From Roto Lando

12:28
Ben: Which of the veterans on 1 year deals for Braves do you think can rebound enough to entice a trade at the deadline? (Norris, Beckham, Bonifacio, KJohnson, JJohnson, etc.)

12:28
Eno Sarris: Norris, maybe as a reliever.

12:28
Shower Thoughts: With so many major leaguers left on the market, who is to say some billionaire doesn’t bribe MLB, MLBPA and the ownership and builds his own team… I think expansion is soon necessary.

12:28
Eno Sarris: It does seem plausible now. Enough talent at least. Another way to up offense, too, maybe.

12:28
Gareth : Hop slam in cans this year. Thoughts on cans versus bottles?

12:28
Eno Sarris: I always pour into a glass so I love cans.

12:29
Joey in China: When should you start considering to rebuild? With this whole youth movement, all my 29, 30, 31 year old keepers are starting to scare me and I don’t want to miss the boat on the Seager’s , Buxtons, etc.

12:29
Eno Sarris: Just buy young MLBers, even if you have to ‘overpay’ a little. Don’t buy prospects outside of the top 10.

12:29
JT: Are Newcombe and Kepler enough for Shelby Miller in a keeper in which Miller’s on the cusp of being cut?

12:29
Eno Sarris: very much so

12:29
Gareth : I know you like craft beers, but are there any European pilsners or lagers that tickle your fancy?

12:30
Eno Sarris: Pinkus Organic Ur-Pils was the beer that brought me back to beer.

12:30
Cat: Do you know a ton about beer or do you just love drinking and talking about it? Or both?

12:30
Eno Sarris: Love it more than I know about it.

12:30
The Ghost of Dayn Perry: Coming to you live from the Charlotte airport! Where the beers are expensive, the flights are delayed andFFJCMAJCNA IMMA WEREWOLF

12:30
Reggie: Do you have any injury concerns about Tyson Ross and Chris Archer due to their high slider usage?

12:30
Eno Sarris: A bit. My opinions on this are evolving and not in stone, and by mechanics I’m more concerned about Ross than Archer.

12:31
Buff: Arodys Vizcaino: How likely is he to be the Braves’ long-term answer at closer? Injury concerns? Others (Foltynewicz, Withrow) who could take the job?

12:31
Eno Sarris: as likely as any Closer of the Future, which is to say, not super likely.

12:31
Johnny5Alive: i hate that i have to teach invert lab on thursdays and i have to spend most of the day prepping for it… and only get to spend a few minutes with you eno

12:31
Eno Sarris: let’s cherish these moments

12:31
Gareth : The Dodgers monopolizing the international market is really bad for the 29 other teams in the sport. If some of those guys emerge, as well as other guys from the regular draft, that’s a scary wealth of riches (and trade pieces) to have.

12:31
Eno Sarris: They going to change the rules again in this CBA.

12:32
RIPCarlosMencia: Everyone seems very in love with Syndergaard. I get he throws hard, is beautiful, blah blah but is there a much higher level of risk with him since he hasn’t had TJ yet?

12:32
Eno Sarris: Not because he hasn’t had TJ, but because he’s had forearm issues in the minors.

12:32
D.J. Trump: Eno, I just made a sandwich and ate it. It had shredded cheese, tortillas, and spicy beef. Therefore, you owe me $8 for it.

12:32
Eno Sarris: Is this like asking Mexico to build the wall?

12:32
Ken: Why do relievers need less plus pitches? Even if they only see a hitter once per game it seems like they would still get hit hard with fewer quality pitches.

12:33
Eno Sarris: It’s easier to keep a hitter off balance in one plate appearance than over the course of three plate appearances.

12:33
Jesus H Christ: What’s the worst contract of the offseason?

12:33
Eno Sarris: Chris Davis? Ian Kennedy?

12:34
Waka : WAKA! FLAKA! BAU BAU BAU BAU BAU BAU BAU

12:34
Natitude Adjuster: Going to Asheville for bachelor party in early June. Baseball and beer. I win?

12:34
kiley mcspaniel: woof woof! yip yip!

12:34
Eno Sarris: short and sweet

12:34
Jackson: As a Mariners fan (or any other I guess), is there much to get excited about with Karns or is he more of a solid-average player with lots of team control… which is something to get excited about in its own right.

12:35
Eno Sarris: He’s at his ceiling. What’s left to develop is a full season of work, and maybe a little bit of HR suppression as he gets more confident with the changeup.

12:35
Prince Wednesday: BTW, Congrats on your beers consumed last Sunday. That had to be a lot of fun.

12:35
Eno Sarris: Crazy. Topper, Sip of Sunshine, Julius, all in succession.

12:36
sn4k3: How hard should I be going after Addison Russell in a small keeper league where we can keep ten guys indefinitely? Feel like the long term prospects and need for upside plays with the small league make him valuable, but how much so?

12:36
Eno Sarris: This is the time. I think he’ll be much better this year.

12:36
Yellowbedwetter: how does this chat work? do you pick next in line, does the system pick next in line or do you just pick what you want? not complaining, just curious.

12:36
Eno Sarris: I pick what I want. I try to keep up but Im at 12:15 now.

12:36
The Oriole Bird: re Portland (in response to Cecil Fielder): Go to Maine Beer Company!! It’s 20 minutes north, in Freeport. Also, a propos of nothing, LL Bean’s flagship location is open 24/7 in Freeport. Weird, right?

12:36
Eno Sarris: Oh, should have asked if Maine or Washington.

12:37
Anthony: Who are you higher on, Kyle Zimmer or Sean Manaea? See either one of them making an impact this season? Feels like at their age, it’s time to shine and both teams could have a spot for them out of spring.

12:37
Eno Sarris: Little bit higher on Manaea. Both make me nervous health wise, but Manaea nice park and they’ll slot him in sooner.

12:37
Prince Wednesday: Also, regarding SS, do you like Desmond, Castro or any other bounce back candidate to outperform their projections?

12:37
Eno Sarris: Desmond in The Cell could be kind of fun.

12:37
Bork: would the e coli even get a chance to do anything when it’s going to be coming out the other end within the hour anyways? serious question please respond.

12:38
Eno Sarris: this has been my experience with Chipotle so

12:38
Cristobel: Carlos Correa is the next….whom?

12:38
Eno Sarris: A-Rod

12:38
Mandarin!: The strikeout rates are unreal, the fastball and change-up are both plus, why doesn’t Jose De Leon get more love? Is it his age relative to level?

12:38
Eno Sarris: A bit of a “pop-up” prospect in that he didn’t have pedigree before. He gets good love though.

12:38
MP: I’ve been playing with the auction calculator and have a couple questions. Our auction only extends to our starting lineups does that mean i should set reserves to 0? The adjusted price when I input keepers takes into account remaining money and positions?

12:38
Eno Sarris: yes

12:38
Eno Sarris: and yes

12:39
Divisive Issue Spotter: Will Votto be inducted into Cooperstown as a player? (He clearly will be inducted as a manager, once he makes the inevitable transition after his playing days are over.)

12:40
Eno Sarris: I think he’ll have some crazy rate stats that will open eyes and be really compelling to the voters voting at that time, yes. Dunno if he’ll manage, though. Bet he takes his money and isn’t around baseball after.

12:40
Gareth : If you like breaking bud, have you tried Simtra? Talk about a hoppy slap in the face! We used to be able to get knee deep here in cleveland but the supply recently dried up. Shame. They do so nice stuff.

12:40
Eno Sarris: Some of their stuff is too much for me, including Simtra. But BB is pretty great.

12:40
Ringtone Composer: Maikel Franco: You buying all the shares, some of the shares, or none of the shares at prices you’re seeing?

12:40
Eno Sarris: Some shares

12:40
Leif Erikson: “Air Senors” is an anagram of your name. Remember that next time you are playing bball. Also “Ass Ironer”. I’ll leave the use of that up to you.

12:40
Eno Sarris: I will use those. Depending on how my game is going.

12:41
Maxamuz: NOLAN

12:41
Bruh: This year’s Jake Arrieta will be_____

12:41
Eno Sarris: Let’s see. Oft-injured high-velocity guy with upside that hasn’t done it yet. Nate Eovaldi?

12:41
Nelson: Does Strickland need Casilla and Romo to both get injured to see some saves?

12:42
Eno Sarris: No, I think he might push his way into it no matter what.

12:42
Batman: What say you? “Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins said that the team doesn’t expect to choose a closer between Osuna and Drew Storen until midway through spring training, if not later…”

12:42
Eno Sarris: (Pick Osuna)

12:42
Anthony: Grichuk or Conforto in a 20 team, Dynasty league. Same price.

12:42
Eno Sarris: Conforto. His plate approach and batted ball mix makes me moist.

12:42
Floyd: Eickhoff’s curve ball is unreal. Given that and his excellent SSS stats from 2015, he may not go cheap or be a true sleeper but I’d be willing to push his price or reach for him.

12:43
Eno Sarris: I believe. Two really good breakers — the slider was top five in whiff rate — a decent change, and a riding fastball that can be better than its velocity readings.

12:43
marine biologist: i bet a friend that wilmer flores would get 500ab this year for the mets. who do you think wins the bet?

12:43
Eno Sarris: You, because between Wright’s back and Asdrubal Cabrera’s suckiness, he’s got a lot of daylight.

12:43
Derek: So beer athlete question: I’m a long distance runner and the nights before my half marathons I try to drink a few beers. Just enough to tire me out so I can sleep but also enough to load up on my carbs. My problem is it’s a very fine line to walk before I get too drunk and I have to race hungover. I guess my question is should I go for two imperials for their high abv or four lighter beers for the carbs?

12:44
Eno Sarris: Lighter ones. with water, but you knew that.

12:45
Nelson: Any other breweries worth going to in Charsleton, SC besides Westbrooke?

12:45
Eno Sarris: COAST, Holy City, and RJ Rockers, though the last is in Spartanburg.

12:45
Natitude Adjuster: Wait… do people hate on AleSmith X? Just tried it for the first time the other day, on the strength of their IPA. I thought it was really good–and eminently sessionable.

12:45
Eno Sarris: It just doesn’t rate as highly for some. For me, it’s a top three-to-five session.

12:46
Gareth : Used to work for the indians. We share the same concourse downstairs as the players, media ect. I was waiting outside the retail office to check in my takings for the day when a bunch of Angels players came around the corner (they were heading to the elevator ). I recognized Mike Trout, but also Chris Ianetta was there, Hank Conger as well as a few other lesser known guys. I really really really wanted to act all visibly exited then yell at the top of my lungs “oh my god, it’s Hank Conger!” But the Indians as a whole really don’t really like staff bothering the players, so I didn’t do it. I work for another company now, but still regret chickening out in that moment.

12:46
Eno Sarris: They would have laughed their ass off.

12:46
Second Half Splits: They’re not predictive, right? But like…I’m totally using them to get psyched about Desclafani. And to talk myself out of Joc Pederson. Am I crazy?

12:46
Eno Sarris: I don’t think they are by themselves. But when I see a change in approach plus a change in splits (Desclafani), then I get interested.

12:46
PRETTY PLEASE ENO: Dude can we get your SP ranks included in the table for the updated RotoGraphs composite ranks? That would be SO AWESOME.

12:47
Eno Sarris: Yah I will make Sporer do that for the Draft Kit rankings.

12:47
Joe: Braves closer?

12:47
Eno Sarris: Grilli first, to keep the youngsters cheap.

12:47
Joe: Milwaukee/Cincy closers?

12:48
Eno Sarris: Maybe Will Smith, but he and Jeremy Jeffress literally split all of the things I look for in a closer (velocity, K rate, handedness, role), so that one is super tough. Hoover going to get first crack in Cincy, but Diaz will take it from him at some point.

12:48
ClaytonKoufax: Is Joc Pederson’s 2nd half struggle related to mental? Mechanic? Or rookie slump?

12:48
Eno Sarris: He’s athletic and has dominated everywhere. He hasn’t needed to make adjustments like he needs to make now. I remain optimistic.

12:48
Ceetar: Had a Hopslam in a can last night. Delicious. #humblebrag Tonight, Nugget Nectar in a can.

12:49
Eno Sarris: Hopslam in the mail to me but no NN yet.

12:49
Jeff in T.O.: You ever sign pitchers to long-term guaranteed contract? I have both Wade Davis and Betances coming due this season. either I can keep both for just 2016 @ $3 & $6, or I can extend both or either for +$5/season more. Thoughts? Thanks Bud!

12:49
Eno Sarris: I’m in a league like this and I’ve sworn off extending pitchers.

12:50
Max Kepler: Ja oder Nein?: So you love Max Kepler. In a keep forever (no penalties) league where 144 players are kept year to year, how early should he go in the free agent draft? Top…three rounds? Five rounds? First roun?

12:50
Eno Sarris: that’s like 12 teams, 12 keepers, so you’ve got most of your lineup and starting rotation. Top three rounds I think. You want to be able to pick from the best pitchers that were not kept, maybe get a closer.. fourth round?

12:50
bold prediction: Jerad Eickhoff 214.2 IP 3.32 ERA 1.09 WHIP 8.116822 K/9

12:51
Eno Sarris: 8.1116823 K/9 for me but sure

12:51
Gareth : Joe Ross eventually better than his brother?

12:51
Eno Sarris: Possible because he’s still trying to throw the changeup.

12:52
Natitude Adjuster: Trea Turner going to hit at all in MLB this year? Looked overmatched last year. But that speed….

12:52
Eno Sarris: He actually made great contact, so I see the K rate coming down. Dunno about power.

12:52
The sub: Again I’m on this chat while my students are working. But the teacher wants to show a video. So now you’re stuck with me.

12:52
Eno Sarris: Donald Duck geometry pool video?

12:52
jake: Gonna be a new Dad in April. Aside from lack of sleep, what else can I expect?

12:53
Eno Sarris: Equal amounts of joy and exhaustion. Total change in outlook on life and priorities. It’s amazing.

12:54
Anthony: The Adam Conley hype doesn’t make much sense to me…please explain outside of spin rate stats.

12:54
Eno Sarris: Above average whiffs on all three pitches, plus change, great movement on his pitches, had more velocity before injury and showed more velocity late last year, great home park, one of few young ready pitchers on back end of that staff.

12:55
Eno Sarris: Important to remember that I have him 110, which is in the deep mixed league, NL-only league range.

12:55
Joe: What does Park’s line look like?

12:55
Eno Sarris: .240/.320/.440 with 22 homers in 2/3 playing time?

12:55
Marty: A lot of people saying any team in the AL has a shot with exception of the A’s. So we should be expecting the a’s to be there for for the second WC then right?

12:56
Eno Sarris: Athletics are projected to win 78 and the SD on these things is five wins, so they could easily win 88. Plus, if they on pace to win 90 with luck, they can trade to improve squad. It’s possible.

12:56
Mike Marshall: Is it worth it for the Dodgers to move a good prospect or two for a stronger 8th inning option, or is the bullpen strong enough as is?

12:57
Eno Sarris: Much more likely they use money. Tommy Hunter could help?

12:57
guest guest guest: do you shy away from prospect with big time curveballs in coors (i.e. jon gray)?

12:57
Eno Sarris: That’s a slider, right? But yes.

12:57
Floyd: Do you like Finnegan to close for the Reds? He seems to have the confidence and mow ’em down air to him.

12:58
Eno Sarris: They going to try him as starter and I think he has the stuff.

12:58
award-winning costume designer: You need to have a FG meetup where everyone is required to dress as their favorite Sly Stallone character. I call dibs on “Cobra”.

12:58
Jeet: Yellowbedwetter has got to be the best Pearl Jam tribute screenname yes?

12:58
Yellowbedwetter: I LOVE LINENKUGELS SUMMER SHANDY! IT’S SO GOOD, I CANT EVEN SPELL IT!

12:58
Eno Sarris: uh, well done?

12:58
Hugh Jorgon: Is Eno short for something? Enosaurus?

12:59
Eno Sarris: Named after Brian Eno.

12:59
MKB: What’s your projection on Kolten Wong? Worth keeping? Or should I go find another 2B? Given Gyorko’s presence and all.

12:59
Eno Sarris: Worst case scenario, Wong has the big side of a platoon. But I think Gyorko could be true backup. One more eligible guy could be okay.

1:00
Joe: Blake Snell MLB IP in 2016?

1:00
Eno Sarris: 40 tops?

1:00
wilpy: rank in order of how soon they shift to third: Seager/Russell/Bogaerts/Devers/Jeter

1:00
Eno Sarris: Jeter! Devers, Seager, Bogaerts, Russell.

1:00
Bryan Ferry: Can we just be friends?

1:01
Eno Sarris: as long as you’re not a Jealous Guy.

1:01
Marty: Bribing MLB is easier said than done because you’d be cutting the revenue pit into 1/31 rather than 1/30, and that would come at a prohibitive premium

1:01
Eno Sarris: Good point.

1:01
Guest: Thor (the god, not the pitcher) sucks. Let’s why does he get a day? It should be Enosday.

1:01
Eno Sarris: Not going to argue.

1:02
Marty: Tigers 2016: MAKE COMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

1:02
Joey in China: Can you explain the Correa love? He’s young and talented, but A-rod?He put up some great numbers last year, but his low FB rate coupled with his VERY high HR/FB rate screams power regression. What am I missing?

1:03
Eno Sarris: 21 years old and debuted like that. 48% GBs not huge, and GBs go down every year until 26-27, so more fly balls coming. Can hit homers inside off the black and oppo. Debuted young, made great contact, had good patience, good speed, and great defense. Works super hard and is already the team leader.

1:04
Klof: Stuck in jury duty. The juror instructional video used movie clips mostly from movies that portray a perversion of justice

1:04
Eno Sarris: “Don’t take money like these guys.”

1:04
Brett: When does Trevor Story get called up? How good will he be?

1:05
Eno Sarris: I think he could make the team with a good spring, but the strikeouts make me nervous. They acting like they might be good, so Story could come up to replace Reyes and play his way into second base, though, so he’s interesting in all leagues.

1:05
Marty: Woah what the hell did you do last Sunday? I was in Vermont and couldn’t even get those!

1:05
Eno Sarris: Just a few trades came in and I cashed in with my friends at the super bo.

1:06
Wheres da ludes at: You ever notice how some farts are like healthy loud windy ones and then other ones are all squeaky and wet like something’s ripping out of some tiny extra hole somewhere? Asking for my dog.

1:06
Eno Sarris: And when you’re excited for the first, and you get the second, it’s just devastating and sometimes dirty.

1:06
Yo Mama: Which of your parents is the German one and does he/she also have a total lack of respect for personal space like the Germans in Germany do? I’m bout to start throwing ‘bows getting off the Strassenbahn.

1:07
Eno Sarris: My mom, and she’s been gone longer. It’s a weird thing, though. They won’t jaywalk but they’ll read their paper in your nostrils.

1:07
Hank: There were some questions about Kris Bryant being able to stick at 3B defensively long term. After watching many Cubs games this season, I thought he looked VERY good at the hot corner. Do you think he stays at 3B for the majority of his career?

1:07
Eno Sarris: Yeah I think he’ll be fine until age robs some athleticism, so at least 30 or so.

1:08
RotoLando: Remember those wax tubes that you had to bite the top off of, that had the sugar water in them? It’s 2016. Why don’t we have those for booze yet?

1:08
Eno Sarris: oh god that’s going to happen

1:08
The Cincinnati Kid: Someone on FG said Polanco will likely not be a middle of the order bat (down the road)–do you agree with that? It seems like he would fill out more eventually

1:08
Eno Sarris: I see him more as a 1/2 bat too. Good power, but not three/four power.

1:08
Dan: Do you have a pitchers ranking? I really do not trust yahoo’s rankings.

1:09
Zwibi: What are the odds cingrani becomes the closer in cincy? I cant find what to make on the guy. Some sources say he cant handle being a max-effort RP

1:10
Eno Sarris: Managers use lefties as closers half as much as they should given the population of lefty relievers. He’ll have to be demonstrably better than Diaz to get the role when Hoover fails.

1:10
Joe: Why Dyson over Kela? Kela seems awesome.

1:10
Eno Sarris: Agreed but Kela cheaper and younger and Dyson pitching deeper in the game, so role favors him.

1:10
E5: Public service reminder: When looking for Interlude material regarding kids (Eno’s or your own) DO NOT type “Lude Kids Material” into the search bar.

1:10
Zorak: Nugget nectar is in cans this year, too. God I love Nugget Nectar.

1:11
Bork: Borkwife has new friend. New friend has child. Borkwife giving Bork that look. What do I do?

1:11
ew: please don’t say moist anymore.

1:11
Eno Sarris: asked and answered interlude.

1:11
Wade Wilson: ENOOOO. Drinking way too many cool IPAs and Stouts right now, but its bitter sweet. Getting married at the end of the year and want to save money/lose a couple pounds, but the idea of drinking less makes me sad. What should I do?

1:12
Eno Sarris: Don’t ever finish a bad beer. Shave a beer here or there. Don’t have that last beer before bed you won’t even really remember how it tasted.

1:12
Nelson: What is the difference between a pale ale and a session IPA? None, right?

1:12
Eno Sarris: Who the F knows.

1:12
Rollings Tone: So what type of music do your parents listen to today?

1:13
Eno Sarris: Dub, Asian and Middle Eastern Dub for my dad, and the stuff they listened to years ago.

1:13
Chris: Can you talk about the reasoning behind your decision to pick Ozzie Albies in the second round of the BP dynasty mock draft? I own him in a 12 team dynasty league but I don’t know how I can justify keeping a guy with bottom-of-the-scale power.

1:13
Eno Sarris: Shortstop with plus speed that’s young enough for more power to emerge.

1:14
Marty: My friend taught in Munich and he jaywalked and an old lady started beating the crap out of him saying he was a terrible influence on the children.

1:14
Eno Sarris: See? SEE?

1:14
Marty: You havent experience the lack of German personal space until 10 gargantuan bavarians pile into a ski gondola made for 8 italians.

1:14
Eno Sarris: lol

1:14
Joe: If you had a chance between passed-over Lackey and Joe Ross in a draft, which? Depends on current staff at the time?

1:14
Eno Sarris: Ross.

1:14
John: Is there a good pitcher who gets less love than Jose Quintana? He is about as consistent as they come but basically no one ever discusses him.

1:15
Eno Sarris: Is true. But has bad change and is mostly getting by on show-me change, average velocity, plus command, plus curve. Seems like a package that could crumble fairly quickly to me.

1:15
Marty:

1:17
Eno Sarris: I don’t do much drum and bass, but take a look at this.

1:17
LBJ: Pale Ale’s are delicious and Session IPA’s taste like water down crap. There, I settled it. I’m ready for the session fad to die.

1:18
Eno Sarris: I like some 5-6% beers. Something has to start the day off.

1:18
Eno Sarris: And by starting the day off, I mean at an appropriate time, as in the first beer. Sigh.

1:18
RunTMC: So why isn’t there a Samoa stout yet? Caramel, Chocolate and Coconut.

1:18
Eno Sarris: Let’s.

1:18
Dan: If there was expansion in the next few years, which city most deserves a baseball team?

1:18
Eno Sarris: Montreal leaps to mind. Charlotte, Portland, Austin next on list for me.

1:19
Greg: Hey Eno, great pitcher rankings as always. On another note–please rank soler, conforto, peralta

1:19
Eno Sarris: Conforto Soler Peralta

1:19
Eric: Do you consider the Trumbo trade “high upside”? For that matter can any acquisition of an age 30+ player be considered “high upside”?

1:19
Eno Sarris: High upside in that it cost barely nothing and might be worth barely something?

1:20
Phil: What’s a reasonable expectation for Buxton in terms of his SB potential this year? Steamer has him at 20.

1:21
Eno Sarris: 57 in 2013, if he’s full healthy, I’d add about ten to that.

1:21
Christian: Better 2016: CC or Verlander AND WHY

1:21
Eno Sarris: Verlander found the high fastball, CC we need to go on faith that the knee is good.

1:21
Marty: Verlander apparently just started doing serious prep work last year. Not sure if I believe it, but if it’s true, he could do some damage this year.

1:22
Eno Sarris: Interesting. Yeah I could see him going by guts and velocity until now. Maybe he’ll talk to me about it.

1:23
RotoLando: I’d like to brew a beer with yeast from Jayson Werth’s beard, and dump a bucket of Werther’s Original candies in it for flavor? What would we name this?

1:23
Eno Sarris: Sweat.

1:23
Zigs: Have to disagree with you Eno. San Diego is the city that most deserves a baseball team. It gets old going down to Petco and watching that farm team play. Would love to have a real team come to town.

1:23
Eno Sarris: You sound like Tim Flannery.

1:23
Greg: 2B seems to be a good spot to wait on in drafts this year. Who do you like best this year out of odor, rendon and Wong?

1:23
Eno Sarris: Odor given that he’s going about same/ lower than Rendon. In real life game, Rendon.

1:24
zwibi: I am thinking of doing a kind of platoon with david peralta and billy burns this year. Am I crazy to think that I could get close a 15-30 .290 player for next to nothing?

1:24
Eno Sarris: It’s good.

1:24
guest guest guest: do i keep gpolanco this year, or am i a year early on his breakout?

1:24
Eno Sarris: Without settings I say yes.

1:24
Mike: Pick my 5 keepers for me, I cant. Correa, Machado, Betts, JD Martinez, Sano, Freeman or King Felix.

1:25
Eno Sarris: Felix gone, easy. Correa in easy. Betts too. Machado too. Cut one of Sano, JDM, FF? FF for me. R and RBI are going to be bad, doubt there’s much power upside left.

1:26
Enosaywhat: Did you just predict Buxton to steal 67 bases this year? In MLB? Or was that a typo? Because he’d have to get on base a lot and be healthy and in the majors all year.

1:26
Eno Sarris: haha no, add ten to Steamer’s 20 to get to 30.

1:26
Mike: Shit I forgot Springer, 2 of Springer, Sano, and JD was my real issue haha. Im dumb

1:27
Eno Sarris: Oh. Huh. Yeah. Huh. Springer over JD for steals upside.

1:27
Enosaywhat: Conforto over Soler? You like him like THAT? I didn’t realize it was so serious! (And I’m just illiterate in regards the Buxton question…my b).

1:28
Eno Sarris: I have to reign myself in. A no-nonsense projection for Soler is .260/25, and that has some playing time risk, too. Conforto has playing time risk, too, but whooee do I take the fans’ .280 over his projected .260.

1:28
Chris: Do you think Domingo Santana’s minor league walk rate is sustainable at the major league level? He seems very underrated in OBP leagues.

1:28
Eno Sarris: agreed

1:29
Why we all dumb: Cause it’s the end of the chat. Sad face. Since it’s almost over…keep Russell or JP Crawford as bench pieces (have Machado) OR Pederson as Util hitter (have Betts, Marte, Conforto in OF).

1:29
Eno Sarris: Pederson, actually. I like Russell, but once again, the projection is hard to push past .260/18 for now.

1:30
MP: How do you see Kang this year for fantasy? If he misses 2 weeks to a month how does that impact things for you.

1:30
Eno Sarris: I still think he can .280/20 in limited time.

1:30
Gradually Gollum: What would have to go right for the Pirates (other than poor health for the rest of the division) for them to wins the pennant, Precious? We wants to know *GOLLUM! GOLLUM!*

1:30
Eno Sarris: Polanco takes step forward, Kang relatively healthy, and one of their pitching prospects is ready.

Hey guys, 12 team mixed H2H 7×7 (OBP, SLG, L and HLD) My 6 keepers are:
Posey
Crush
Tulo
Bautista
Heyward
Kluber

My question is, should I try to compete this year with these 6 keepers or should I begin the rebuilding process now while I can still get value for Bautista/Tulo?

I have deals on the table:
Corey Seager for Posey or Carlos Correa for Bautista, Posey and Kluber? Doing either one of these trades makes me hold onto Tulo until I can trade him in-season for future picks
