Alex: Enosaurus, my league needs help. We are a head-to-head points league and all enjoy that format better than roto. Please do not judge us. The problem we run into is that our week essentially turns into “who can start the most pitchers” every week. We’ve capped transactions to two per week, but I still don’t feel like this is enough. How do normal points leagues avoid this problem?

Eno Sarris: Toggling the starting pitching points so that bad starts are more negative?

Chad: Reported that Oberholtzer looks to get 5th spot in rotation and that VV could use more seasoning…Why? He’s seasoned enough and at worst his “lack of seasoning” has to be 10 times the seasoning that Oberholtzer has.

Eno Sarris: Could be service time, could be ‘let’s see what we got,’ could be about managing the innings for VV. I was worried about this, but I do think VV gets 100+ in MLB.

Miketron: Returning TJ guys, who you got McCarthy or Bailey?

Eno Sarris: Bailey had it earlier and had more of a track record, right?

Zonk: The White Sox payroll last year was $120 mil. Right now, it sits at almost exactly $120 mil. I wonder if this is the whole reason the White Sox are seemingly doing little to nothing to address gaping holes. Sure, Latos, but what about SS and OF? Do you think Hahn is under a strict spending cap?

Eno Sarris: Stroman. Richards not guaranteed to K more guys, and you get two more rounds.

Heinz: Still buying Keuchel as an ace this season?

Eno Sarris: Not really. He’s outside my my 17-pitcher first tier. I think the Ks will go back to 7 per nine.

DLowe: Hi Eno! Who do you think will have a better year as a closer in 2016? Britton or Giles? Looking at both saves totals and peripherals.

Eno Sarris: Britton.

Q-Ball: $3 mil for Latos seems like a worthwhile risk. He’s only 28, history of performance, and he pitched OK last year in a down year. Is his personality/history the reason so many teams were Latos intolerant?

Eno Sarris: But Latos is the Freshmaker! I think injuries have robbed him of effectiveness, but yes at $3m he’s a great bet. If he’s healthier, he’ll be much better than that.

Eno Sarris: well done people, well done all around.

Hero: Lots of cold water thrown on Sonny Gray during SP discussions on podcast. I play in a H2H points league and in ’14 he finished as a top 15 SP and in ’15 he was top 11. Talk to me in those terms, and not Roto. You expect the same results from him this season or doesn’t matter the league setting, he will regress?

Eno Sarris: The problem is mostly Ks and the fact that mostly people that K and BB as much as he does have worse ERAs. But as long as he stays in Oakland, and if you don’t really have an innings cap, He should be top 20 again at the very least.

Q-Ball: Speaking of potential bargain free agents, why the lack of action on Austin Jackson? Is he holding out for too much? He isn’t what he was, but he’s still young, a 2-win player who plays a premium defensive position competently. He’s a good fit somewhere, am I right?

Eno Sarris: May end up a backup/fourth guy, but should get an MLB deal.

Hero: Is Mookie Betts going to get better or did we see what he will be? He finished as a top 16 bat in my league (H2H points) so I’m not complaining but hard to see him rise above that. Thoughts?

Eno Sarris: I think the growth will come from his walk rate. More times on base could mean more steals. But even though he’s 23, I can’t imagine he’s going to develop much more power.

Poe Cameron: Eno, are you going to Pitchfork again this year?

Eno Sarris: Hopefully. Haven’t asked the wife piece yet.

kim: Was Matt Duffy’s 2015 a mirage?

Eno Sarris: Only in terms of counting stats, maybe. He can make contact, play decent defense, maybe even steal a few more bases. But not betting on more/same power.

The Cincinnati Kid: With Gattis injured, what’s the % chance Reeds breaks camp with the Astros or still 0?

Eno Sarris: Higher than zero. But I heard four to six weeks, and hitters only need two weeks to get going, so it may not be a big deal.

Eno Sarris: Don’t know Portland that well, but Cascade and Hair of the Dog are the musts that I’ve tried.

Eno Sarris: For me liking more than otherss: AleSmith X? Knee Deep Breaking Bud? Or the opposite. Fat Tire? Anchor Steam?

some guy: For ~$3m+incentives, it seems that Cliff Lee would’ve been the better gamble than Mat Latos (assuming that was even an option), right?

Eno Sarris: Not for me. Lee tried to pitch with this exact situation last year and it didn’t really work out.

Eno Sarris: Late power, sure.

Eno Sarris: Those are the worst values in baseball!! Michael McKenry may push his way into a role, I guess. Hank Conger? JR Murphy probably going to cost a few bucks.

Hannah Hochevar: Just because the O’s make the most sense to sign Gallardo doesn’t mean they HAVE to, right? They are free to make their own decisions. Odd that for their too big off-season signings (him and Crush) they are essentially bidding only against themselves.

Eno Sarris: And making bad decisions if you ask me. Gallardo is not good.

Mookie the Wookie: Hey Eno! Auction Calculator question. When I plug in my leagues scoring 12 team, $280, 7×7 (R,HR,RBI, SB, OBP, SLG, K ) ( BB / 9, K / 9, K / BB, QS, ERA, WHIP, SV ) the calculator seems to value Kershaw at about $120, Scherzer and Sale at $70+. While Trout and Harper are valued at about $60 a piece. Can you help me understand what’s going on? Is pitching over valued in this league?

Eno Sarris: K/9 and BB/9 makes elite starting pitchers really valuable and pushes most of the rest of the starting pitching useless. That setting really favors stacking up on relievers with a couple aces.

Texas Dolly: Who’s most likely to take over in Texas should Tolleson stumble?

Eno Sarris: Dyson first. Kela second.

Joey in China: Do you think Corey Seager will be more of a .280 20 80 player or more of a .300 30 100 player?

Eno Sarris: .280. 30 still possible though.

Matt: I saw a few people say that it wouldn’t be crazy to see Christian Arroyo at the big league level this year. Thoughts?

Eno Sarris: Giants don’t have to push him unless third base is a problem. I bet not.

Hank: Is there a prospect that hasn’t already played in the majors (sorry Corey Seager) that you see having a big impact on a pennant race this season?

Eno Sarris: JP Crawford could be useful in late year, but not in a pennant race obviously, had to look again at the question lol. Julio Urias? Tyler Glasnow? Alex Reyes? Nomar Mazara?

Closer Vulture: Please rank in terms of best bet to eventually take over the closer role: Benoit, Madson, Colome.

Eno Sarris: You got it, though maybe Madson first.

Bill: Most people seem to think that Paxton is going to start at AAA this year. What happens if he pitches well down there and nobody in the rotation gets hurt or pitches particularly poorly? He just keeps pitching well in AAA?

Eno Sarris: Someone in that rotation will be hurt. That rotation includes Hisashi Iwakuma last time I checked!

Eno Sarris: Works his way into the 7th/8th, but not closing just yet.

James: Listened to you last year and got great bargains on Desclafani and Rasiel in my NL only. Is Lamb the guy this year? Any others?

Eno Sarris: Finnegan, Conley, Velasquez, Davies. Along with Lamb.

ken: When the off season began, Puig was almost a lock to be traded. Nothing happened though. Is it because Mattingly left?

Eno Sarris: I don’t think Friedman cares much about clubhouse chemistry. I think they might have heard some good offers, but the rumors were overblown.

Eno Sarris: Norris, maybe as a reliever.

Shower Thoughts: With so many major leaguers left on the market, who is to say some billionaire doesn’t bribe MLB, MLBPA and the ownership and builds his own team… I think expansion is soon necessary.

Eno Sarris: It does seem plausible now. Enough talent at least. Another way to up offense, too, maybe.

Gareth : Hop slam in cans this year. Thoughts on cans versus bottles?

Eno Sarris: I always pour into a glass so I love cans.

Joey in China: When should you start considering to rebuild? With this whole youth movement, all my 29, 30, 31 year old keepers are starting to scare me and I don’t want to miss the boat on the Seager’s , Buxtons, etc.

Eno Sarris: Just buy young MLBers, even if you have to ‘overpay’ a little. Don’t buy prospects outside of the top 10.

JT: Are Newcombe and Kepler enough for Shelby Miller in a keeper in which Miller’s on the cusp of being cut?

Eno Sarris: very much so

Eno Sarris: A bit. My opinions on this are evolving and not in stone, and by mechanics I’m more concerned about Ross than Archer.

Buff: Arodys Vizcaino: How likely is he to be the Braves’ long-term answer at closer? Injury concerns? Others (Foltynewicz, Withrow) who could take the job?

Eno Sarris: as likely as any Closer of the Future, which is to say, not super likely.

Ken: Why do relievers need less plus pitches? Even if they only see a hitter once per game it seems like they would still get hit hard with fewer quality pitches.

Eno Sarris: It’s easier to keep a hitter off balance in one plate appearance than over the course of three plate appearances.

MP: I’ve been playing with the auction calculator and have a couple questions. Our auction only extends to our starting lineups does that mean i should set reserves to 0? The adjusted price when I input keepers takes into account remaining money and positions?

Eno Sarris: Conforto. His plate approach and batted ball mix makes me moist.

Floyd: Eickhoff’s curve ball is unreal. Given that and his excellent SSS stats from 2015, he may not go cheap or be a true sleeper but I’d be willing to push his price or reach for him.

Eno Sarris: I believe. Two really good breakers — the slider was top five in whiff rate — a decent change, and a riding fastball that can be better than its velocity readings.

Eno Sarris: You, because between Wright’s back and Asdrubal Cabrera’s suckiness, he’s got a lot of daylight.

Derek: So beer athlete question: I’m a long distance runner and the nights before my half marathons I try to drink a few beers. Just enough to tire me out so I can sleep but also enough to load up on my carbs. My problem is it’s a very fine line to walk before I get too drunk and I have to race hungover. I guess my question is should I go for two imperials for their high abv or four lighter beers for the carbs?

Natitude Adjuster: Wait… do people hate on AleSmith X? Just tried it for the first time the other day, on the strength of their IPA. I thought it was really good–and eminently sessionable.

Eno Sarris: It just doesn’t rate as highly for some. For me, it’s a top three-to-five session.

Gareth : Used to work for the indians. We share the same concourse downstairs as the players, media ect. I was waiting outside the retail office to check in my takings for the day when a bunch of Angels players came around the corner (they were heading to the elevator ). I recognized Mike Trout, but also Chris Ianetta was there, Hank Conger as well as a few other lesser known guys. I really really really wanted to act all visibly exited then yell at the top of my lungs “oh my god, it’s Hank Conger!” But the Indians as a whole really don’t really like staff bothering the players, so I didn’t do it. I work for another company now, but still regret chickening out in that moment.

Second Half Splits: They’re not predictive, right? But like…I’m totally using them to get psyched about Desclafani. And to talk myself out of Joc Pederson. Am I crazy?

Eno Sarris: I don’t think they are by themselves. But when I see a change in approach plus a change in splits (Desclafani), then I get interested.

Eno Sarris: Maybe Will Smith, but he and Jeremy Jeffress literally split all of the things I look for in a closer (velocity, K rate, handedness, role), so that one is super tough. Hoover going to get first crack in Cincy, but Diaz will take it from him at some point.

Eno Sarris: He’s athletic and has dominated everywhere. He hasn’t needed to make adjustments like he needs to make now. I remain optimistic.

Max Kepler: Ja oder Nein?: So you love Max Kepler. In a keep forever (no penalties) league where 144 players are kept year to year, how early should he go in the free agent draft? Top…three rounds? Five rounds? First roun?

Eno Sarris: that’s like 12 teams, 12 keepers, so you’ve got most of your lineup and starting rotation. Top three rounds I think. You want to be able to pick from the best pitchers that were not kept, maybe get a closer.. fourth round?

Eno Sarris: Above average whiffs on all three pitches, plus change, great movement on his pitches, had more velocity before injury and showed more velocity late last year, great home park, one of few young ready pitchers on back end of that staff.

Eno Sarris: Important to remember that I have him 110, which is in the deep mixed league, NL-only league range.

Joe: What does Park’s line look like?

Eno Sarris: .240/.320/.440 with 22 homers in 2/3 playing time?

Marty: A lot of people saying any team in the AL has a shot with exception of the A’s. So we should be expecting the a’s to be there for for the second WC then right?

Eno Sarris: Athletics are projected to win 78 and the SD on these things is five wins, so they could easily win 88. Plus, if they on pace to win 90 with luck, they can trade to improve squad. It’s possible.

Mike Marshall: Is it worth it for the Dodgers to move a good prospect or two for a stronger 8th inning option, or is the bullpen strong enough as is?

Eno Sarris: Much more likely they use money. Tommy Hunter could help?

Debuted young, made great contact, had good patience, good speed, and great defense. Works super hard and is already the team leader.

Chris: Do you think Domingo Santana’s minor league walk rate is sustainable at the major league level? He seems very underrated in OBP leagues.
