Eno Sarris Baseball Chat — 2/18/16
11:59 |
: ooooops
12:00 |
: was in the wrong chat room haha
12:00 |
: WHERE IS EVERYONE
12:00 |
: Well here you are.
12:00 |
: Here’s the song I would have shared. My wedding song.
12:00 |
: Rank these guys in a dynasty: Cole, Kluber, Jose Fernandez.
12:01 |
: I’ll take G Cole first, but I’ll take Kluber over Jose just because the fact that he didn’t come back clean from TJ.
12:01 |
: Biggest Mariner breakout player? Biggest bust?
12:02 |
: Tai Walker. (There are really only a few to choose from that are pre-peak, sadly).
12:02 |
: Bust? I keep waiting for Nelson Cruz to look his age.
12:02 |
: Starling Marte seems to be a popular pick to take another step forward. After the power improvement last year, is there more power to come or was last season the best we can hope for with him?
12:02 |
: I don’t see a lot of growth left, actually.
12:02 |
: I can’t tell if Corey Dickerson is being undervalued or overvalued going into the season. What does Eno Sarris think?
12:03 |
: Eno Sarris thinks that Dickerson is being undervalued. I think that power plays everywhere, and he’ll take at least 2/3 of the playing time and hit .275+ with 20+ homers.
12:03 |
: Weird OCD question: Why are MLB switch-hitters listed on this site as “B” but minor league switch-hitters listed at “S” (ex: Moncada)? Is it just a different person filling out the data?
12:04 |
: We do get that data from different places.
12:04 |
: What kind of discount do you apply at an auction to players that will be injured at the start of the season? More specifically, would you target any or all of Albert Pujols, Michael Brantley and Evan Gattis in an AL-only league? Thanks!
12:04 |
: I might want to pay less than even my projections spit out because I don’t like starting behind the eight ball. Especially with Pujols, who is Old.
12:05 |
: Who’s going to contend first – Brewers or Mariners? As a Mariners fan, I’m happy to see Dipoto actually put some thought into the roster construction, but then again, they just got compared to a bus or something like that. Should they have tried to take a more rebuilding approach, or is it okay to be a boring, predictable team that will probably contend for the WC until late-ish in the season?
12:06 |
: I’ve struggled with this. I think you do want to rebuild and get a good base of young players. You can then try to build for every year for a while, and then it becomes untenable and you rebuild. I *know* with my brain that if you’re projected for 78 wins, you can be a contender because of the nature of team projections. But I *feel* that being projected for 78 wins is so super unexciting that I would try to rebuild until I had a better team.
12:06 |

12:07 |
: Just took over in a dynasty league for an owner who just disappeared. It’s a 25/40 man roster with 200 roster spots for minors (per team mind you). The old owner disappeared just before the inaugural minor league draft and had 15 straight picks skipped. The farm is barren and the major league roster has basically only two assets worth major value. Where the heck do I even begin?
12:08 |
: Man they should have given you some sort of concessions for taking over that pick. And they really should have stopped the draft after five straight picks. The league screwed you. I’d contact the commish and be clear that you aren’t whining, your pointing to how the league conspired to screw you. I mean, what were they thinking when they skipped him the 12th time?
12:09 |
: Eno, really could use some help with final keeper choices, 15 team OBP roto $260/23 man roster. My final choices for 2 keeper spots are Brad Miller $7, Gardner $20, Neil Walker $17, Longoria $23, and McHugh $11, Quintana $14. I realize that none of the prices are great, but they are reasonable due to inflation in the auction as teams only keep 8. Thanks!
12:10 |
: Gotta take Miller there I think. I think he can .330 OBP with 20+ HR+SB, which means he’s more valuable than Walker, or at least similar value and much cheaper. I’d use the same logic to keep McHugh.
12:12 |
: Who are you taking at #4 or 5 overall in drafts this year (Assume Trout, Harper, Goldy are 1-3, and not interested in Kershaw that early)
12:12 |
: I like Manny Machado and Nolan Arenado there.
12:12 |
: Which player(s) do you like covering most and why?
12:13 |
: Joey Votto because, though I have very interesting conversations with Sam Fuld, people care a little bit more about the conversations I have with Joey.
12:13 |
: Reddick suggesting an extension still possible on MLB radio. You buy it?
12:13 |
: No. Beane told me that ‘even if we’re right, the benefit doesn’t outweigh the risk of being wrong. We can’t be wrong.’
12:13 |
: I forget, are you in or out on Gallo for 2016+?
12:13 |
: Out. The Baez/Gallo types scare the bejeebus out of me.
12:14 |
: Let’s listen to something my friend Matt Dennewitz recommended.
12:14 |
:
12:15 |
: Also: guys. On MLBNOW tomorrow. Gotta suit it, I guess, right?
12:15 |
: ESPN has Miguel Sano projected for .259, 90/38/100/4 w 180Ks. Are you taking the over or under (and on what specifically)?
12:15 |
: slight under on BA and HR but not by a ton.
12:16 |
: I’m trying to deal for Bogaerts (no cost, keep forever). Right now my offer is Stroman and Trea Turner. Good offer? Should I sweeten to get it done?
12:16 |
: Not good enough. Keep him.
12:16 |
: Hyun-soo Kim seems to quietly be gaining steam as a potential 2016 sleeper. Are you on board with this notion?
12:17 |
: He’s the worst of the three Korean hitters that have recently come over, as Rusney Castillo was obviously the worst of the Cubans coming over at that time.
12:17 |
: If you have the #2 pick who are you taking?
12:17 |
: Trout or Harper.
12:17 |
: I like Arrogant Bastard
12:17 |
: Portland, Me is unbelievable for beer lovers. Allagash tour was free (and probably had about 4 beers during) and Novare Rez is a little beer hall with something around 400 beers available. Just awesome.
12:17 |
: I’m here
12:17 |
: beer interlude.
12:17 |
: Thoughts on Wil Myers coming in to this season? Is he still too big of a risk? What kind of value would you put on him in exchange for a SP?
12:18 |
: I’m buying shares. I’d spend a Shelby Miller or Gio Gonzalez type on him.
12:18 |
: Does Yordano finally put it together this year? Along the lines of a 3ish ERA, ~8-9 K/9 for a full season while avoiding the catastrophic injury we’re all kind of expecting all while not punching anyone in the face?
12:19 |
: He did two things to be great late last year: started throwing harder, and started throwing his curve more. The second part is sustainable, the first? I have a feeling he’ll never be as good as we’d hoped, but also that this year will be one of his best. Take that to the bank! (jeez)
12:19 |
: Hey Eno whats good? So in a keep forever at the rounds they were drafted league I got proposed a very interesting deal. He wants Votto
12:19 |
: I get Buxton, Rodon and TDA at very low rounds
12:20 |
: I actually think that’s a decent return. Can’t forget Votto’s age even as he’s coming off his best season.
12:20 |
: For outfielders in 10 team league, I plan to keep Marte ($18) and Betts ($18) while tossing Cespedes ($17) and Puig ($19). Only want to keep two of these 4 since the price is a little high. What says you?
12:20 |
: You keeping right guys as much as I love Yo and Yas.
12:21 |
: Statheads dont usually like making assumptions without evidence, but that seems to be what everyone is doing with Jason Heyward, right? Why is he getting this seemingly arbitrary pass when Christian Yelich seems awfully similar 40 picks later?
12:22 |
: Seven homers in the projections are important. As is the fact that Yelich hasn’t yet hit double-digit homers and has the same ground-ball rate as Ben Revere.
12:22 |
: How do you feel about Schoop and Ketel Marte as cheap under the radar middle infielders this year?
12:23 |
: Fine. You’ll get a .250 average and 25/25 for cheap.
12:23 |
: TFW Jung-ho Kang knowingly stares at your tight manpris.
12:23 |
: Something something apricot.
12:24 |
: Defo suit tomorrow
12:24 |
: manpris suit, check.
12:24 |
: oh my god. I want This Must Be the Place to be my wedding song too. But being single is fun. Eno, are you my spirit animal?
12:24 |
: Your caged married parent spirit animal.
12:25 |
: Think Piscotty gets to 20 HR this year? Lindor to 30 steals? Steamer is very low on both, per its usual with rookies.
12:25 |
: I’ll say yes to both and I’m not particularly high on Lindor. I just think he can steal that and hit .275 with five plus homers. That’s not what people are paying for, but it’s also pretty good.
12:25 |
: @Daniel – I would sell of any assets for minor leaguers and play fantasy minor league ball for a year or two.
12:26 |
: Yeah I mean in terms of what to do you you’re going to have to pick up every ‘pop-up prospect’ you can find. Anybody with good numbers. Don’t rely on lists, the other guys will be looking at lists. PIck up Carson’s Fringe Five guys as soon as the column hits.
12:26 |
: If you’re going to “punt” a position this season, where would you target? Catcher? SS? Somewhere else?
12:27 |
: Catcher, but not in two-catcher AL- or NL-only leagues, where the $1 catcher is a bad backup and below replacement.
12:27 |
: Do you ever get stressed out about the order you drink your good beers? I have an 18 month old and I’m so tired all the time I feel like by beer #2 I’m already missing out on some of the taste because I’m feeling the 8% from beer #1
12:27 |
: Yes. So I plan for two beers. And yes. So tired.
12:27 |
: Does Mookie Betts’ inability to drive a golf cart lower his 2016 projections? Could it signal some sort of eye trouble?
12:27 |
: LOL
12:28 |
: Is it ok to have beer and salad for lunch? Not like in the same vessel, but you know, as a pairing?
12:28 |
: F it. Put it in the same vessel. Get a gose or a sour. My mom says to use sours for salad dressing. (Put some nuts in there for protein.)
12:28 |
: Seems like a far too standard song choice for a wedding, but at least you didn’t pick Every Breath You Take
12:29 |
: BOOOOOOOOOOO. Listen, man, it brought our two sets of parents together, and I’m named after the producer. What’d you have at your wedding.
12:29 |
: who is the Toronto closer this year?
12:29 |
: Osuna, at least eventually.
12:29 |
: MOSAIC HOPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
12:30 |
: It’s great, but as a dry hop. If they use it in the boil, it gets weird and vegetable.
12:30 |
: Who is a good comparison for Kim, Hyun-soo this year?
12:30 |
: Not this year, but when Markakis was better.
12:31 |
: Marcus Stroman struck out more than a batter per inning at every level of the minors and has some pretty remarkable pitches. His swinging strike rate in the majors, though, hasn’t been great. Plausible to project him over 8 K/9 this season (he was at 7.65 in ’14) or am I just trying to talk my fantasy-owner self into a player I love in real life?
12:32 |
: He traded vertical movement for horizontal movement on most of his pitches last year, and that’s better for GBs than swSTR, and his pitches all added GB and lost swSTR. Of course, there’s the possibility that this was related to his knee injury and he’ll get on top of the ball better this year. But I wouldn’t project for more than 14.
12:32 |
: I was in a debate about De Aza. They said he would want to leave the mets for more ABs, even on a bad team. But I think that being a member of a playoff team can be better for his future earnings. What do you think a player like him would really value? More ABs in a Meh lineup or less ABs and a chance for a ring?
12:32 |
: More ABs. Unless you’re one of the main cogs, you don’t get credit for winning. Mike Morse? Justin Maxwell?
12:33 |
: do you think anyone working for FanGraphs, BP, or any other major site will have someone with a HallofFame vote someday?
12:33 |
: Sure. Seven more years for me! Fewer for guys like Dave Cameron, Sam Miller.
12:33 |
: Do you think that splitters are worse for your elbow than other pitches? It seems to me like a greater percentage of Splitter-throwers are having elbow issues, but it may be my Yankee fandom skewing my perspective…
12:35 |
: Wrote a whole thing about this for the 2014 THT Annual, and it’s hard to study in the numbers, and even biomechanically. Most pitchers seem to agree there’s some risk and that they’ve been told to put it away. if you separate your fingers, you do activate the muscle that usually ‘protects’ your UCL, or at least wraps around the UCL, so maybe you’re weakening your ability to protect your UCL. Maybe. But in terms of how the ball is released, it’s thrown just like a fastball, which is good for you.
12:35 |
: I’m heavy on 1-2 hitters (B. Hamilton, Polanco, Puig for example), is it ridiculous to move similar hitter rankings up based just on projected batting order?
12:36 |
: Those things seem to change over the course of the season. Like Hamilton ending up in the 8 spot by the end of the year. Get good hitters.
12:36 |
: Can you briefly elaborate on your concerns re: Buxton? I know soft and spinning got him a lot last year but his upper minors exposure was so limited, he definitely still needs reps. But Paul said on the pod he thinks he’s Billy Hamilton which seems extreme to say the least, considering Buxton’s bat speed for one is light years better.
12:39 |
: I’m concerned about that strikeout rate, especially since he’s stuck out more in the higher minors and it’s supported by a bad MLB swSTR%. I’m not sure that Hamilton is the right comp. I’m worried he’s a healthy Maybin (when healthy). Could be Austin Jackson too. I’m not picking based on race, more plate discipline. Lorenzo Cain is the very best scenario. Dammit. Anthony Gose? Jesus. How about: Odubel Herrera with great defense?
12:40 |
: With whispers of Desmond landing in Colorado, where would you rank him among the top shortstops if Coors became his new home?
12:41 |
: with a plus BABIP, which is what Coors does for you, he could hit .275 with 20 homers and 15 stolen bases. That bumps him from sixth/seventh up to fourth?
12:41 |
: I know he’s never stayed healthy for a whole season, but any chance K. Zimmer breaks camp w/ the Royals? Or…is called up and makes 15-20 starts? What about S. Manaea for the same?
12:42 |
: Zimmer more likely because of team situations, I think. The A’s have a lot of guys they’ll try while keeping Manaea’s arb clock stopped. The Royals will want a shot in that rotation’s arm, I think.
12:43 |
: Bigger shot at 20/20. Lewis Brinson or Byron Buxton
12:43 |
: Brinson going to have trouble with the stolen bases, Bux with the homers. Stolen bases are so hard, I’ll go with Buxton.
12:44 |
: You’ve mentioned a number of very intelligent baseball players…but do you encounter the occasional meathead as well, or are most players at the major league level pretty sophisticated? Feel free to throw out an anecdote (without naming names, of course)
12:44 |
: Big slugger that just changed teams. Tried to engage him about many different aspects of his hitting and he just smiled and couldn’t come up with anything. Literally shrugged.
12:45 |
: Bowtie that shit.
12:45 |
: Considering no tie because I hate ties.
12:45 |
: I’m commissioner of a fangraphs points league, running on yahoo. End of last year, points were split 35/65% by pitchers/hitters on average by team. I want to get it closer to 50/50. Should I increase pitcher points or decrease hitter positions? Currently have 20 active players each day: 2SP, 2RP, 4P, 2C, infield, 1MI, 1CI, 4OF
12:45 |
: Add pitcher slots.
12:46 |
: Can Skaggs hang with Tropeano as a rotation dark horse for deep AL only?
12:46 |
: sure but Trop is the $1 guy and Skaggs is the reserve pick.
12:46 |
: Mookie (26) and/or Kipnis (14). Thinking of keeping Mookie and slotting him into 2B–much more valuable and Kip at 14 is too much (6 x 6, $260)
12:46 |
: yes
12:46 |
: Get to choose between Schwarber and Lindor for 1
12:46 |
: Schwarbs.
12:47 |
: Bring a FG event to Philly pls? We have awesome beer and Phils tickets will be cheap and readily available!
12:47 |
: Just need to dream up a story that gets me out there.
12:47 |
: Which country makes the best beer?
12:47 |
: As a German I’ll take America.
12:47 |
: I think you should wear a solid gold tracksuit on MLBNOW
12:47 |
: I do as well.
12:48 |
: I’m on the fence about keeping Osuna at $5 next year, or going with a $13 Castellanos or $19 Howie Kendrick. What are the chances Osuna starts or closes (since he has little value as a middle reliever)?
12:48 |
: I think he’ll eventually close, if not to start, and that those other guys are overpriced.
12:48 |
: do you have one of those tuxedo shirts for tomorrow?
12:48 |
: Also a solid idea.
12:48 |
: Dream Operator was my father-daughter dance at my daughter’s wedding..But I digress. Do the Dodgers still need a killer 8th inning reliever, or will Hatcher do? Would it be worth giving up a Holmes, for example, to strengthen that position?
12:49 |
: I guess by ‘wedding song’ I meant the song we first danced to, which might be the father-daughter dance? I thought they should sign Hunter. I think they’ll find a guy in the spring.
12:49 |
: Chances that AJ Reed wins the 1B job over Jon Singleton out of spring training? Chances that AJ Reed is the Astros 1B by July 1st?
12:49 |
: First is much less likely than the second. The second is decently likely.
12:50 |
: no love for my theoretical fantasy question? its totally random, I know. Just curious how many matchups you think you could win if you already knew who the top players were
12:50 |
: H2H? I’d still lose 20% or so.
12:50 |
: Former athletes turned mlb’ers Altherr and Yorman Rodriguez could get substantial Abs this year. Will they get exposed? luck into a 15/15 year with full ABs?
12:51 |
: Altherr makes me nervous, but with how bad that team is, the risk is all batting average and platoon splits, not playing time. So he should be good for that.
12:51 |
: over under for PARK: .330 obp/25 HR
12:51 |
: under
12:51 |
: Since I’ve asked liked 5 weeks in a row, I might as well keep the tradition going. Can you power rank the following SS assuming they are all still shortstops in 5 years time (rank where you have them in 5 years): Correa, Seager, Swanson, Lindor, Moncada, Bogaerts, Addison Russell.
12:52 |
: Correa, Seager, Bogaerts, Russell, Lindor, Swanson.
12:52 |
: Most intelligent baseball player you’ve talked to? In regards to knowledge about baseball statistics etc.
12:52 |
: Sam Fuld.
12:52 |
: If yr into Kevin Morby, might I suggest some Chris Cohen. Great album all around
12:53 |
: In dynasty fantasy, McCullers for my Zimmermann and Duda? I think I can grap Eickhoff for my empty roster spot.
12:53 |
: sure, if you can handle the drop in power.
12:53 |
: Shelby for $8 or nah?
12:54 |
: Yah. Enough promise in that second half drop in the changeup, the increased sinker usage, that he can stave off HR regression in bad park.
12:54 |
: I think another wardrobe question is what are you going to do with the FLOW
12:54 |
: Bit of a new haircut, interested to see if people notice/care.
12:54 |
: Eickhoff’s curveball is fantastic, but are we overlooking Nola’s? Higher whiff rate, crazy horizontal movement, and he can paint with it. Only HR was an inside the park job courtesy of Domonic Brown. Where’s the love?
12:54 |
: I love them both. Neither has great fastball so projecting them into ace is a little dicey, but really solid mid-rotation arms, not even back of rotation.
12:56 |
: 2B looks a weird position to me this year–I could see about 15 guys sneaking into the top five at the position–and I’m tempted to go cheap. Who do you like after the top dozen or so?
12:56 |
: Zobrist, Wong, Walker, Lawrie, Russell, Turner and MIller are all interesting to me after 11 on our ranks. And yeah, if I don’t get Odor, I’m probably peacing out until later.
12:57 |
: im thinking about writing about beer. But I need more than “this is tasty”. What’s your thought process when you drink a new beer? What do you try to notice as you drink it?
12:57 |
: Compare to other beers, try to put names on the scents and flavors, that’s about it. Maybe some industry context and some information about the brewery.
12:57 |
: Would I be reaching if I draft Correa 5th overall?
12:58 |
: Yes I believe so. Probably 40 HR+SB, though, so not by much.
12:58 |
: Hoover lasts how long as Reds closer?
12:58 |
: A month.
12:58 |
: My league values pitchers so much that the action calculator spit out the top 12 pitchers are more valuable than Trout, how should we fix this?
12:59 |
: I’m guessing you’ve got K/9 in, which makes the ace starters with good K/9 super valuable. Probably stop using K/9.
12:59 |
: airy pop time
1:00 |
: Using some leftover meatballs for meatball subs tonight. What do you serve it with? A salad just seems kind of blah.
1:00 |
: Roast some brocc.
1:00 |
: I’m in San Diego for a while from Boston. It is perfect baseball weather all year along, but the Padres are the local team….
1:01 |
: Hey, I *like* the song but I was expecting something a little more…off-kilter for you
1:01 |
: On your MLBN hit, you should mix in hidden beer references. “I don’t think Verlander is zombie dust yet. He has big potential to bounce back.” “Spring training is great! It lets everyone get a sip of sunshine after a long winter”
1:01 |
: all good ideas.
1:01 |
: You just blew my mind. Ima get one helluva look from the waitress at lunch today!
1:01 |
: (please don’t put salad in your beer was just kidding)
1:02 |
: Brantley is apparently taking swings and says he’s ahead of schedule, and I paid a lot to get him last season at a low keeper cost. Worth keeping as my final keeper over a pricey Joey Bats or moderately priced Pujols?
1:02 |
: Sure. Sounds like the price makes sense here. I don’t want Pujols.
1:03 |
: Rank these pitchers: Severino, Walker, DeSclafani, and Buccholz
1:03 |
: you got it
1:04 |
: Let’s keep going on your Osuna answer. Osuna may be better than Storen, but based on all the sound clips floating around in Toronto, it really seems like Storen is the Jays’ preferred choice. Not to mention, they keep mentioning that Osuna will be stretched out this year. You don’t think they follow through?
1:05 |
: I think them stretching out Osuna gives him great floor. He has the arsenal to be a good starter, so if he gets 100 innings and is a good starter, he’ll have that $5 value.
1:05 |
: What’s a reasonable expectation for John Lamb in 2016? I was really surprised to see him not drafted in the LABR draft on Tuesday. Are my hopes just too damn high??
1:05 |
: He should have been drafted. Love the Ks, the swinging strikes, the pitch movement. If he’s hurt to start the year, fine, put him on the DL and go hunting.
1:06 |
: Mike Morse signed a 2 year $16 mil deal after his WS with the Giants! That would seem to be a pretty good win for him. Would more ABs for Maxwell have changed anything? Dude was DFA’d like 5 times in his career.
1:06 |
: I still think playing time is the only way to show teams that you can perform.
1:06 |
: Is the upside for Aaron Nola kinds Sonny Grayish?
1:06 |
: more Ks and more homers.
1:07 |
: Susan Slusser said the A’s are still trying to trade Butler, potentially as a bad-contract-swap. What about the crown jewel of bad contracts to great players – Votto? Butler + a real prospect package (Barreto+) for Votto and significant cash?
1:07 |
: yeesh Butler in the National League. I don’t think anyone will come calling to get that deal.
1:07 |
: $6 Marcell Ozuna or $1 Joc? Standard 5×5, this year only

: I hate hops. I hate IPAs and most Ales. But a friend recommended Belgian Tripels, and I took to them right away. I’ve mainly had US-based brands, like New Belgium Trippel (I like it, and it’s affordable), Victory Golden Monkey, Sam Adams New World, Allagash, La Fin Du Monde. Have any specific suggestions for me? As an aside, why are the bigger corked bottles much more (per ounce) than regular bottles? In some cases, I can get a 4-pack of bottles for the same price as one 25 ounce bottle.
1:10 |
: Orval, St. Bernadus, Goose Island Matilda, Sierra Nevada Ovila, de struise. Not really my style, but I dig on some of those.
1:10 |
: So, I know that we don’t really understand the exact effects Coors has on offense, or pitching, and that some guys on the Rockies are good everywhere (Arenado). But Charlie Blackmon’s home-road splits, after three seasons, have to be the way things are for him, right? Sub-.700 OPS on the road the last two seasons. Does this hurt more in roto, or weekly H2H? The latter, right?
1:11 |
: H2H because hero to zero effect, probably.
1:12 |
: My girlfriend is a food scientist and sometimes says beers smell like canned vegetables…boiled Mosaic? My god, i’m learning so much!
1:12 |
: You weren’t lost in MY chat room, baby!
1:12 |
: Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my sleeper. Prepare to die.
1:12 |
: nice ludes
1:12 |
: In a discussion of which young pitching prospect you prefer, does the pitching coach come into play or do the skills win out? Iglesias or Severino – which pitching coach adds more to that player’s development?
1:13 |
: Skills. pitching coaches can save a veteran that needs a tweak.
1:13 |
: Just traded the Reds announced closer Hoover for Eugenio Suarez…keeping Jumbo Diaz’ looming shadow in mind, I’m happy yes?
1:13 |
: yes
1:13 |
: more value this year, Ryan Howard or Brandon Phillips? and do both reside at same address by October?
1:13 |
: BP. No, Howard might be home.
1:13 |
: Hi Eno! If Josh Hamilton is hurt worse than we think he is, shouldn’t the Rangers let me play LF, instead of trading for someone else?
1:13 |
: Yes.
1:14 |
: I need a closer, under the radar type. Who is primed to bust out who doesn’t play for the Brewers and who everyone isn’t already onto?
1:15 |
http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/the-change-finding-this-years-next-closers/ but Dan Hudson, Sam Dyson, Hunter Strickland, and if those are too obvious, Tony Zych, Nate Jones, Justin Grimm.
: This should help |
1:15 |
: I just completed a trade for Buxton today. This is the wrong chat to read after such a trade. Forgive me. I’ll be sitting here in the corner wiping my tears with the pages of the BA Top 100 list.
1:15 |
: I’m sorry. I may have been harsh. But Cameron Maybin was once a can’t misser, too.
1:15 |
: MARK TRUMBO?!?
1:16 |
: Sure.
1:16 |
: What are your thoughts on Adam Conley?
1:16 |
: I think he’ll take the fifth starter role, and he was adding velocity late last year and had more velocity in the past, so he could be better than a bad fastball guy. Great park for a bad fastball guy anyway.
1:16 |
: Dude, seriously, could you start hyping some guys who suck so I don’t have to pay premium prices on the guys who used to be sleepers?
1:16 |
: TOM KOEHLER FTW
1:17 |
: ties are the man keeping you down?
1:17 |
: Just crap around my neck. I don’t even wear dress shirts any more. Feels like something coming for my face.
1:17 |
: Can you rate in order of fantasy relevance for 2016? Career? Urias, Snell Giolito. Thanks
1:17 |
: Gio, Urias, Snell this year. Career? Gio… Urias, Snell.
1:18 |
: Schwarber or Carter hit for better average this year? Never mind. Who cares about the difference between .210 and .230?
1:18 |
: I’ll give Schwarbs over .230 and yeah that does matter!
1:32 |
: Okay, I’m back. Phew. internet problems.
1:32 |
: Eno: Can you imagine if Carson hit on every guy on his Fringe Guy list? And his guys in the Evaluating the Prospects article too? Imagine Carson Cistulli: Scouting Director
1:32 |
: I picked up Mookie Betts in all leagues because of him!
1:32 |
: Tell Vivalajeter to also look into Belgian Quadrupels. Three Philosophers from Ommegang is my favorite American craft.
1:32 |
: Am I wrong for believing Henderson Alvarez impresses upon his return in April/May?
1:32 |
: It’s not impossible.
1:33 |
: Whoever the moderator is. Can you stop letting through these irrelevant and meaningless messages, and put mine through, FFS? The Spice Master? With a legitimate and exciting question for Eno?
1:33 |
: uh. dude. I’m the moderator lol.
1:33 |
: Get a Craig Sager suit. The colors bro.
1:33 |
: YAS.
1:33 |
: Leoynis Martin is good, right?
1:33 |
: He’s okay. I think he can hit .270 with 10/20 type work against righties and sit against lefties, refind his defense.
1:33 |
: ok who spilled beer on the modem
1:33 |
: eno ded
1:33 |
: yup
1:34 |
: Who has the weirdest/most unique pitch grip that you have seen?
1:34 |
: That Mat Latos Critter pitch.
1:34 |
: Eno, I am going ice fishing this weekend (shouldn’t be overly cold, about 32F – 0C) what type of beer is good for colder weather drinking while fishing?
1:34 |
: Something like Prairie Bomb or Deschutes Black Butte XXV, a big imp stout that has some pepper in it and will warm your cockles.
1:35 |
: (I’m not sure what a cockle is, but I bet it’s better warm.)
1:35 |
: How common is it for MLB players to miss games because of a hangover?
1:35 |
: “Flu like symptoms”
1:35 |
: Gregory Polanco break out this season? Do you see a 15HR/30SB season for him in the future, even if it’s not this season?
1:36 |
: yes and yes
1:36 |
: Would you rather get a free Mike Trout in all your dynasty leagues, or be given 500$ in real cash?
1:36 |
: Cash. I’ve lost with Trout.
1:36 |
: over/under: my dungus or my bungus?
1:36 |
: STUPID MODERATOR
1:36 |
: America makes the best beer???? Really?
1:37 |
: Belgium a close second, but the range of styles in America trump it.
1:37 |
: Looks like I’ve been drinking to many IPAs because I can’t seem to find the Player Profile Pages.
1:37 |
: Just go to a player page. It’s there between the linked articles and the stats.
1:37 |
: American beer has the higher ceiling, sure, but higher floor is definitely Germany.
1:38 |
: I can give German floor, but I did just have a German ACDC inspired beer that fought Big Hurt beer for the worst beer I’ve ever had.
1:38 |
: (lesson here is to avoid drinking themed beers)
1:38 |
: Do you drink non-hoppy beer? I’m not a hops guy, and sour sounds just dangerous, what do you recommend for for the wuss like myself?
1:38 |
: Berliner Weisse, Belgian Pale, Porter.
1:38 |
: Saisons, too. Saison Dupont!
1:38 |
: Would you be cool with a Hanley/Myers situation at 1b on a dynasty team and then draft AJ Reed hella late? Is that sound or silly strategy?
1:38 |
: Sound.
1:38 |
: Any reason to think that Michael Wacha K% will increase this season?
1:39 |
: He keeps showing that plus swinging strike rate. Problem is, it’s off a plus changeup, and I’ve shown that changeup whiff rate has the worst relationship to overall strikeout rate among the various pitches. So he might be a healthy Jarrod Parker in the NL.
1:39 |
: Sun is shinin’ and the weather is sweet, j’ah. Makes me want to chat to this reggae beat. To the rescue, here I am!
1:39 |
: tell me more about austin meadows prodigous ass
1:39 |
: Don’t ever leave us, Eno
1:40 |
: I’ll give you guys a few more minutes because internets.
1:40 |
: In a league that uses K9 and BB9, you’re saying I should go heavy on Ace SP? I have Kluber already. Should I go all in and get 4 more ace SP for around $25-30 each?
1:40 |
: No, but you should have two or three aces and then ace closers, and then the rest just relievers.
1:41 |
INGREDIENTS 3 eggs |
1:41 |
: Am I being way too picky by saying I wish Gerrit Cole would strike some more people out?
1:41 |
: Team doesn’t care what you think, nor does he, but I get what you’re saying. Feel the same about Stroman.
1:41 |
: Eno – I play in innings cap leagues, which make K/9 more important than gross K’s. The question is, should I be then using K/9 as the category in the auction calculator? Also, how does using K/9 affect relief pitcher value there?
1:41 |
: It boosts relievers too much. Just put the innings cap in the calculator.
1:42 |
: Eno, I have some spice for you. In a keeper league, what do you think about trading Corey Kluber and Corey Seager for Jake Arrieta and Troy Tulowitzki?
1:42 |
: Would not do it!
1:42 |
: You have the best hitter in the deal, at least in 2017.
1:42 |
1:42 |
: I just don’t like you Eno and didn’t want to answer your questions.
1:43 |
: No, he was nice. And actually the dude I was talking about was nice. Just… nothing.
1:43 |
: Have you ever had a chance to talk to Mike Mussina? A friend of mine ran into him once and said he was one of the most engaging people to discuss pitching. But all I ever heard when he played was how aloof he was. Are there any recently retired great players you would have loved to interview?
1:43 |
: Pedro. Smoltz. Moose.
1:43 |
: Your candidate for the most overranked player on preseason lists?
1:44 |
: I love Michael Conforto in real life. I’ll take the over on the projected OBP and AVG and the under on any platoon issues. But with Yo there, I’ll give him about 500 PA. So .280/20 homers? I think he’ll get overdrafted for those numbers.
1:45 |
: You should wink on TV tomorrow after every time you answer a question
1:45 |
: Do the Hornacek wave.
1:45 |
: Best Iowa beers?
1:45 |
: Toppling Goliath is there, right? Them.
1:45 |
: One of my favorite non hoppy beers is Brooklyn’s Soriachi Ace…for the non hoppy fan out there
1:45 |
: yes, I like that one!
1:45 |
: WACHA
1:45 |
: WACHA
1:45 |
: WACHA
1:46 |
: There are some German “TV beers” which aren’t much better than run of the mill american macros. Maybe not american light beer bad, but just pretty meh drinkin lagers.
1:46 |
: Agreed. My favorite German beers are Koestritzer Schwarzbier and Pinkus Ur-Pils.
1:46 |
: Big Hurt beer…as in Frank Thomas beer? Send it to me.
1:46 |
: I’ts really bad. Really really really bad.
1:47 |
: Better in 2016: Valencia or Lawrie?
1:47 |
: Lawrie.
1:47 |
: matt damon…he whispered weakly
1:47 |
: Please rank these asses. Austin Meadows, Carlos Gomez, Bartolo Colon, J-Lo
1:47 |
: Austin, J-Lo……… Gomez ………………………………………… Colon
1:47 |
: Dyson o/u 40sb?
1:47 |
: Under. Just think they’ll find a way to limit his exposure. Not a good bat.
1:48 |
: Are you celebrating the beer purity law anniversary in April? (Too lazy to google the German word)
1:48 |
: Rheinheitsgebot? No. I think it’s set back beer making there and firmly plants them in yesterday.
1:49 |
: At 23 and 2 years removed from MLB Profar is basically a prospect again. What are you thoughts on him?
1:49 |
: Worried he can’t be a shortstop now. Because of the arm. So maybe a decent second baseman with a little power and speed?
1:50 |
: Okay! I caught up, even with that disastrous internetting.
1:50 |
: Now I must catch up to my email!
