Eno Sarris: I don’t see a lot of growth left, actually.

Tinkerbell: I can’t tell if Corey Dickerson is being undervalued or overvalued going into the season. What does Eno Sarris think?

Eno Sarris: Eno Sarris thinks that Dickerson is being undervalued. I think that power plays everywhere, and he’ll take at least 2/3 of the playing time and hit .275+ with 20+ homers.

Larry Bernandez: Weird OCD question: Why are MLB switch-hitters listed on this site as “B” but minor league switch-hitters listed at “S” (ex: Moncada)? Is it just a different person filling out the data?

Eno Sarris: We do get that data from different places.

Walking Wounded: What kind of discount do you apply at an auction to players that will be injured at the start of the season? More specifically, would you target any or all of Albert Pujols, Michael Brantley and Evan Gattis in an AL-only league? Thanks!

Eno Sarris: I might want to pay less than even my projections spit out because I don’t like starting behind the eight ball. Especially with Pujols, who is Old.

Karl: Who’s going to contend first – Brewers or Mariners? As a Mariners fan, I’m happy to see Dipoto actually put some thought into the roster construction, but then again, they just got compared to a bus or something like that. Should they have tried to take a more rebuilding approach, or is it okay to be a boring, predictable team that will probably contend for the WC until late-ish in the season?

Eno Sarris: I’ve struggled with this. I think you do want to rebuild and get a good base of young players. You can then try to build for every year for a while, and then it becomes untenable and you rebuild. I *know* with my brain that if you’re projected for 78 wins, you can be a contender because of the nature of team projections. But I *feel* that being projected for 78 wins is so super unexciting that I would try to rebuild until I had a better team.

Daniel: Just took over in a dynasty league for an owner who just disappeared. It’s a 25/40 man roster with 200 roster spots for minors (per team mind you). The old owner disappeared just before the inaugural minor league draft and had 15 straight picks skipped. The farm is barren and the major league roster has basically only two assets worth major value. Where the heck do I even begin?

Eno Sarris: Man they should have given you some sort of concessions for taking over that pick. And they really should have stopped the draft after five straight picks. The league screwed you. I’d contact the commish and be clear that you aren’t whining, your pointing to how the league conspired to screw you. I mean, what were they thinking when they skipped him the 12th time?

pirates hurdles: Eno, really could use some help with final keeper choices, 15 team OBP roto $260/23 man roster. My final choices for 2 keeper spots are Brad Miller $7, Gardner $20, Neil Walker $17, Longoria $23, and McHugh $11, Quintana $14. I realize that none of the prices are great, but they are reasonable due to inflation in the auction as teams only keep 8. Thanks!

Eno Sarris: Gotta take Miller there I think. I think he can .330 OBP with 20+ HR+SB, which means he’s more valuable than Walker, or at least similar value and much cheaper. I’d use the same logic to keep McHugh.

Shawn: Who are you taking at #4 or 5 overall in drafts this year (Assume Trout, Harper, Goldy are 1-3, and not interested in Kershaw that early)

Eno Sarris: I like Manny Machado and Nolan Arenado there.

Eno Sarris: Joey Votto because, though I have very interesting conversations with Sam Fuld, people care a little bit more about the conversations I have with Joey.

Eno Sarris: I’m buying shares. I’d spend a Shelby Miller or Gio Gonzalez type on him.

Batman: Does Yordano finally put it together this year? Along the lines of a 3ish ERA, ~8-9 K/9 for a full season while avoiding the catastrophic injury we’re all kind of expecting all while not punching anyone in the face?

Eno Sarris: He did two things to be great late last year: started throwing harder, and started throwing his curve more. The second part is sustainable, the first? I have a feeling he’ll never be as good as we’d hoped, but also that this year will be one of his best. Take that to the bank! (jeez)

Jeet: Hey Eno whats good? So in a keep forever at the rounds they were drafted league I got proposed a very interesting deal. He wants Votto

Eno Sarris: I actually think that’s a decent return. Can’t forget Votto’s age even as he’s coming off his best season.

Ethan O.: For outfielders in 10 team league, I plan to keep Marte ($18) and Betts ($18) while tossing Cespedes ($17) and Puig ($19). Only want to keep two of these 4 since the price is a little high. What says you?

Eno Sarris: You keeping right guys as much as I love Yo and Yas.

Paul: Statheads dont usually like making assumptions without evidence, but that seems to be what everyone is doing with Jason Heyward, right? Why is he getting this seemingly arbitrary pass when Christian Yelich seems awfully similar 40 picks later?

Eno Sarris: Seven homers in the projections are important. As is the fact that Yelich hasn’t yet hit double-digit homers and has the same ground-ball rate as Ben Revere.

Batman: How do you feel about Schoop and Ketel Marte as cheap under the radar middle infielders this year?

Eno Sarris: Fine. You’ll get a .250 average and 25/25 for cheap.

Eno Sarris: I’ll say yes to both and I’m not particularly high on Lindor. I just think he can steal that and hit .275 with five plus homers. That’s not what people are paying for, but it’s also pretty good.

gbaked: @Daniel – I would sell of any assets for minor leaguers and play fantasy minor league ball for a year or two.

Eno Sarris: Yeah I mean in terms of what to do you you’re going to have to pick up every ‘pop-up prospect’ you can find. Anybody with good numbers. Don’t rely on lists, the other guys will be looking at lists. PIck up Carson’s Fringe Five guys as soon as the column hits.

Please Help: If you’re going to “punt” a position this season, where would you target? Catcher? SS? Somewhere else?

Eno Sarris: Catcher, but not in two-catcher AL- or NL-only leagues, where the $1 catcher is a bad backup and below replacement.

Wardo: Do you ever get stressed out about the order you drink your good beers? I have an 18 month old and I’m so tired all the time I feel like by beer #2 I’m already missing out on some of the taste because I’m feeling the 8% from beer #1

Eno Sarris: Yes. So I plan for two beers. And yes. So tired.

Quirks: Does Mookie Betts’ inability to drive a golf cart lower his 2016 projections? Could it signal some sort of eye trouble?

Eno Sarris: F it. Put it in the same vessel. Get a gose or a sour. My mom says to use sours for salad dressing. (Put some nuts in there for protein.)

PR: who is the Toronto closer this year?

Eno Sarris: Osuna, at least eventually.

Eno Sarris: It’s great, but as a dry hop. If they use it in the boil, it gets weird and vegetable.

Anthony: Who is a good comparison for Kim, Hyun-soo this year?

Eno Sarris: Not this year, but when Markakis was better.

Schiraldi: Marcus Stroman struck out more than a batter per inning at every level of the minors and has some pretty remarkable pitches. His swinging strike rate in the majors, though, hasn’t been great. Plausible to project him over 8 K/9 this season (he was at 7.65 in ’14) or am I just trying to talk my fantasy-owner self into a player I love in real life?

Eno Sarris: He traded vertical movement for horizontal movement on most of his pitches last year, and that’s better for GBs than swSTR, and his pitches all added GB and lost swSTR. Of course, there’s the possibility that this was related to his knee injury and he’ll get on top of the ball better this year. But I wouldn’t project for more than 14.

gbaked: I was in a debate about De Aza. They said he would want to leave the mets for more ABs, even on a bad team. But I think that being a member of a playoff team can be better for his future earnings. What do you think a player like him would really value? More ABs in a Meh lineup or less ABs and a chance for a ring?

Eno Sarris: More ABs. Unless you’re one of the main cogs, you don’t get credit for winning. Mike Morse? Justin Maxwell?

DB: do you think anyone working for FanGraphs, BP, or any other major site will have someone with a HallofFame vote someday?

Eno Sarris: Sure. Seven more years for me! Fewer for guys like Dave Cameron, Sam Miller.

PS: Do you think that splitters are worse for your elbow than other pitches? It seems to me like a greater percentage of Splitter-throwers are having elbow issues, but it may be my Yankee fandom skewing my perspective…

Eno Sarris: Wrote a whole thing about this for the 2014 THT Annual, and it’s hard to study in the numbers, and even biomechanically. Most pitchers seem to agree there’s some risk and that they’ve been told to put it away. if you separate your fingers, you do activate the muscle that usually ‘protects’ your UCL, or at least wraps around the UCL, so maybe you’re weakening your ability to protect your UCL. Maybe. But in terms of how the ball is released, it’s thrown just like a fastball, which is good for you.

The Cincinnati Kid: I’m heavy on 1-2 hitters (B. Hamilton, Polanco, Puig for example), is it ridiculous to move similar hitter rankings up based just on projected batting order?

Eno Sarris: Those things seem to change over the course of the season. Like Hamilton ending up in the 8 spot by the end of the year. Get good hitters.

Dan: Can you briefly elaborate on your concerns re: Buxton? I know soft and spinning got him a lot last year but his upper minors exposure was so limited, he definitely still needs reps. But Paul said on the pod he thinks he’s Billy Hamilton which seems extreme to say the least, considering Buxton’s bat speed for one is light years better.

Eno Sarris: I’m concerned about that strikeout rate, especially since he’s stuck out more in the higher minors and it’s supported by a bad MLB swSTR%. I’m not sure that Hamilton is the right comp. I’m worried he’s a healthy Maybin (when healthy). Could be Austin Jackson too. I’m not picking based on race, more plate discipline. Lorenzo Cain is the very best scenario. Dammit. Anthony Gose? Jesus. How about: Odubel Herrera with great defense?

hungryg: With whispers of Desmond landing in Colorado, where would you rank him among the top shortstops if Coors became his new home?

Eno Sarris: with a plus BABIP, which is what Coors does for you, he could hit .275 with 20 homers and 15 stolen bases. That bumps him from sixth/seventh up to fourth?

Anthony: I know he’s never stayed healthy for a whole season, but any chance K. Zimmer breaks camp w/ the Royals? Or…is called up and makes 15-20 starts? What about S. Manaea for the same?

Eno Sarris: Zimmer more likely because of team situations, I think. The A’s have a lot of guys they’ll try while keeping Manaea’s arb clock stopped. The Royals will want a shot in that rotation’s arm, I think.

DDSP: Bigger shot at 20/20. Lewis Brinson or Byron Buxton

Eno Sarris: Brinson going to have trouble with the stolen bases, Bux with the homers. Stolen bases are so hard, I’ll go with Buxton.

Biscuit: You’ve mentioned a number of very intelligent baseball players…but do you encounter the occasional meathead as well, or are most players at the major league level pretty sophisticated? Feel free to throw out an anecdote (without naming names, of course)

Eno Sarris: Big slugger that just changed teams. Tried to engage him about many different aspects of his hitting and he just smiled and couldn’t come up with anything. Literally shrugged.

swiss: I’m commissioner of a fangraphs points league, running on yahoo. End of last year, points were split 35/65% by pitchers/hitters on average by team. I want to get it closer to 50/50. Should I increase pitcher points or decrease hitter positions? Currently have 20 active players each day: 2SP, 2RP, 4P, 2C, infield, 1MI, 1CI, 4OF

Eno Sarris: Add pitcher slots.

Eno Sarris: First is much less likely than the second. The second is decently likely.

Eno Sarris: H2H? I’d still lose 20% or so.

DB: Former athletes turned mlb’ers Altherr and Yorman Rodriguez could get substantial Abs this year. Will they get exposed? luck into a 15/15 year with full ABs?

Eno Sarris: Altherr makes me nervous, but with how bad that team is, the risk is all batting average and platoon splits, not playing time. So he should be good for that.

Timber: Eickhoff’s curveball is fantastic, but are we overlooking Nola’s? Higher whiff rate, crazy horizontal movement, and he can paint with it. Only HR was an inside the park job courtesy of Domonic Brown. Where’s the love?

Eno Sarris: I love them both. Neither has great fastball so projecting them into ace is a little dicey, but really solid mid-rotation arms, not even back of rotation.

Schiraldi: 2B looks a weird position to me this year–I could see about 15 guys sneaking into the top five at the position–and I’m tempted to go cheap. Who do you like after the top dozen or so?

Eno Sarris: Zobrist, Wong, Walker, Lawrie, Russell, Turner and MIller are all interesting to me after 11 on our ranks. And yeah, if I don’t get Odor, I’m probably peacing out until later.

Derek: im thinking about writing about beer. But I need more than “this is tasty”. What’s your thought process when you drink a new beer? What do you try to notice as you drink it?

Eno Sarris: Compare to other beers, try to put names on the scents and flavors, that’s about it. Maybe some industry context and some information about the brewery.

Eno Sarris: Yes I believe so. Probably 40 HR+SB, though, so not by much.

Hmmm…: Let’s keep going on your Osuna answer. Osuna may be better than Storen, but based on all the sound clips floating around in Toronto, it really seems like Storen is the Jays’ preferred choice. Not to mention, they keep mentioning that Osuna will be stretched out this year. You don’t think they follow through?

Eno Sarris: I think them stretching out Osuna gives him great floor. He has the arsenal to be a good starter, so if he gets 100 innings and is a good starter, he’ll have that $5 value.

Jay the Bruce: What’s a reasonable expectation for John Lamb in 2016? I was really surprised to see him not drafted in the LABR draft on Tuesday. Are my hopes just too damn high??

Eno Sarris: He should have been drafted. Love the Ks, the swinging strikes, the pitch movement. If he’s hurt to start the year, fine, put him on the DL and go hunting.

gbaked: Mike Morse signed a 2 year $16 mil deal after his WS with the Giants! That would seem to be a pretty good win for him. Would more ABs for Maxwell have changed anything? Dude was DFA’d like 5 times in his career.

Eno Sarris: I still think playing time is the only way to show teams that you can perform.

Eno Sarris: yeesh Butler in the National League. I don’t think anyone will come calling to get that deal.

Tough life decisions: $6 Marcell Ozuna or $1 Joc? Standard 5×5, this year only

vivalajeter: I hate hops. I hate IPAs and most Ales. But a friend recommended Belgian Tripels, and I took to them right away. I’ve mainly had US-based brands, like New Belgium Trippel (I like it, and it’s affordable), Victory Golden Monkey, Sam Adams New World, Allagash, La Fin Du Monde. Have any specific suggestions for me? As an aside, why are the bigger corked bottles much more (per ounce) than regular bottles? In some cases, I can get a 4-pack of bottles for the same price as one 25 ounce bottle.

Eno Sarris: Orval, St. Bernadus, Goose Island Matilda, Sierra Nevada Ovila, de struise. Not really my style, but I dig on some of those.

Mile High Mirage: So, I know that we don’t really understand the exact effects Coors has on offense, or pitching, and that some guys on the Rockies are good everywhere (Arenado). But Charlie Blackmon’s home-road splits, after three seasons, have to be the way things are for him, right? Sub-.700 OPS on the road the last two seasons. Does this hurt more in roto, or weekly H2H? The latter, right?
