McCutchen stole 20 bases last year and was caught 12 times. 20 for 32 is not an elite rate, or even a good one for that matter. If that was his success rate when he wasn’t stealing much, or most likely attempting in ideal situations, why would you trust him to steal a bunch of bags this year in possibly worse running situations?
