12:01 |
Eno Sarris: I doubt I’d give up real assets for him because 110 IP might be his max.
12:01 |
Comment From TomMilwaukee was undefeated when scoring at least three runs until last night. RIP streak 🙁
12:01 |
Eno Sarris: Something’s going to give. I’m guessing it’s in the Wily Peralta / K-Rod direction.
12:01 |
Comment From LarryWhat should I do with Shelby Miller?
12:01 |
Eno Sarris: Hold until his command improves. Maybe a long-term sell since he’s not throwing his offspeed stuff more.
12:01 |
Comment From DanRajai and Liriano for Heyward. Which side do you prefer?
12:02 |
Eno Sarris: Heyward so hard I broke the button.
12:02 |
Comment From GoatSo they transplant your consciousness into Trout’s body and you take spring training to get a grip. What’s Mindofeno Bodyoftrout’s line in year 1? And what is his WAR?
12:02 |
Eno Sarris: Dunno. I’d probably steal less and reach less, but it might make for less power! That’d probably be worse, what with the too much thinking.
12:02 |
Comment From BeavisLoved your Greinke interview. Any thoughts on his streak of allowing 2 (or fewer) runs while pitching 5 innings?
12:03 |
Eno Sarris: He like that he’s always .. adjusting. Hesitate to call it tinkering because that’s as seemingly bad word.
12:03 |
Comment From CeetarSecond month of the season. Is sample size growing large enough to drop non-performers into the cornfield in favor of someone hotter? *cough cough, Curtis Granderson, cough cough*
12:04 |
Eno Sarris: If the non-performance centers around swing and strikeout metrics, I say yes. For Grandy, it’s tricky, because those were always going to be bad… but his margin for error was pretty small anyway.
12:04 |
Comment From GuestErvin Santana or Kluber?
12:04 |
Eno Sarris: I love Kluber, but Erv’s got the change going which was really all he was missing.
12:04 |
Comment From Bobhey Eno Love the chats. Did you know Cigar city is opening a new Cider bar in Ybor? should be good stuff! quick fantasy ? is giving up Goldy for Jfer in a keeper league an overpay? what do you think of goldy for jfer/altuve/webb?
12:04 |
Eno Sarris: Cool but I’m lukewarm on cider. If anyone could change my mind htough… I still don’t like the trade. Much harder to find a Goldy than a stud pitcher.
12:05 |
Eno Sarris: Just go for quantity, maybe trade your #2 for a bunch of smaller named pitchers with some upside.
12:05 |
Comment From LosMatt Cain or Salazar ROS?
12:05 |
Eno Sarris: K-BB, the best in-season predictor, says Salazar, doesn’t it? I love love his stuff still.
12:06 |
Comment From LanceWhat’s the ultimate upside for Yordano Ventura, and in your mind, he’s a top ___ pitcher in a dynasty league?
12:06 |
Eno Sarris: If the secondary stuff improves, and he keeps his velocity, watch out. top 25/30 by now in dynasty leagues already. If he doesn’t keep velocity, he could still be great for a few years like Kazmir.
12:06 |
Comment From Jaymeswhat’s wrong with alexi ogando? any thoughts on him as a deep league viable bullpen guy moving forward?
12:06 |
Eno Sarris: I’d wait a bit.
12:06 |
Comment From Meff JangumIs Jesse Chavez the real deal? Or is he a Sell High case?
12:07 |
Eno Sarris: He has all the weapons he needs to be good. Great home park and thrived in Texas.
12:07 |
Comment From BrianThoughts on Santos? He’s killing my Whip and K/BB. Saves/holds are nice but its a high price to pay.
12:07 |
Eno Sarris: His stuff is still wicked but he can’t command the fastball. Takes a while still for walks to stabilize, especially for a reliever.
12:07 |
Comment From RotoLandoGood morrow, Abbott. Justin Upton or Stanton in a dynasty points league?
12:08 |
Eno Sarris: Stanton. Upton’s K% and SB trend are a little worrisome for long-term prognosis.
12:08 |
Comment From Jays Fan III have Marcus Stroman on my farm. If you’re me, do you call him up right away in time for his first start (once he’s being called up)? Or do you wait a few starts to make sure he’s good to go and a decent lock to stay in the rotation?
12:08 |
Eno Sarris: Given how quickly they gave him the axe the first time, I might wait actually.

Comment From OrenI keep reading about Jason Heyward having bad luck. And honestly, I feel like I’ve been reading this for years now. Is there a point where a player is just unlucky more than others? I’m just struggling to stay optimistic with him when it’s the same excuses for him every time he struggles at the plate.
12:10 |
Eno Sarris: his BABIP for his career is .300 on the nose, it’s .254 now. I don’t think he’s going to ever have a great batting average, but he’s gone 27/21 and he’s stealing more this year. I think he’ll finish around .255/20/15 with the potential for a power outburst that pushes it further.
12:10 |
Comment From cbirdEno i have a glut of pitching in a 16 team dynasty league, but i put all my eggs in one basket with d arnaud at c. do i stick with tda or should i start looking to deal
12:11 |
Eno Sarris: I’d actually just look for quantity at catcher too. Catcher is the pitcher of the lineup — huge bust rates, long time before they’re good. Look at Mesoraco. Pick up a post-hype guy, someone like Zunino, Conger.
12:11 |
Eno Sarris: Still awesome, though the reach rates and contact rates suggest to me there might be a dry spell in batting average at some point. Then again, his career BABIP is like .380.
12:11 |
Comment From GuestR.A. Dickey: is he going to pull it together?
12:11 |
Eno Sarris: Velocity and command never returned to his great New York years, I think he’s more of a league average guy at this point.
12:12 |
Comment From Dr. MetHave you signed the true NY fan pledge yet. SMH.
12:12 |
Comment From Tony G.I drafted Aoki in hopes that he’d steal me around 30 bags. Not happy with the 3 so far, especially since I thought Ned Yost would let him run wild. Is it a product of a struggling Royals offense, or was I simply getting greedy with my initial projection?
12:12 |
Eno Sarris: I thought similarly but I think we can say now he’s not going to get the go-go treatment.
12:12 |
Eno Sarris: (He’s a little old for a career-high in sBs anyway)

12:13 |
Comment From GoatHey Eno- Morneau can’t be in a better lineup spot or a better ballpark… He’s crushing it and will hit for good average. No steals, but the other 4 cats look big time. Know you are glacial in opinion change but aren’t you just a little bit excited? Isn’t he this year’s Cuddyer?!
12:14 |
Eno Sarris: I’m relatively excited about him. He was sitting/sittable against lefties, but I see he’s pretty much starting every day now.
12:14 |
Comment From Billy BeaneHow good is Derek Norris, and should be he be owned in more fantasy leagues?
12:14 |
Eno Sarris: All AL-onlys for sure. Problem is that he’s a righty, the good news is he’s hitting against some righties. 18+ teamers?
12:14 |
Comment From GuestHey Eno. Relatively new to fantasy. Someone dropped Segura in my league. Is this crazy? Should I claim him? Thanks.
12:14 |
Eno Sarris: I would hop on that.
12:15 |
Comment From JakeAre teams too hesitant to enter rebuilding mode? The Orioles, Indians, Reds, Pirates, and Padres all seem to be guarding their chances of contention, even though none of them gets much better than 1 in 10 POFF odds, and don’t seem to have much chance of competing next year.
12:16 |
Eno Sarris: Dave and I had a little back and forth on this, and to some extent he convinced me that teams should go into season working on the upper ends of their possible projections, just in case it happens. And it’s a bit too early to sell, but at some point, everything not nailed down would go for me. I would have absolutely have sold Jose Reyes, for example. I realize this could say something to prospective free agents, but I think FAs just take the cash for the most part.
12:16 |
Comment From GuestDoes Starling Marte’s approach (low walk, high K%) have you worried about his slow start? Even last year he was barely walking and striking out about 25% of the time
12:16 |
Comment From Jamieout of oscar taveras and gregory polanco, which one do you think has the higher ceiling? i think taveras has a better chance has a better chance at reaching his ceiling, but that polanco has a higher one with his speed?
12:17 |
Eno Sarris: I think Polanco actually has a slightly higher floor, Taveras way higher ceiling. Both are top-ten talents, so they’re comparable.
12:17 |
Comment From skipperxcIs it safe to say Khris Davis is what he is? I’ve been holding out hope he’ll hit on a 30-HR pace, but currently he’s not worth playing over Leonys Martin as my 4th OF
12:17 |
Eno Sarris: He’s having the Brewer hitter disease: chasing everything. I’d adjust down to .250, but power could be anywhere from 20-25. Droppable in ten-teamers, but I’m still looking for some hope in 12-teamers.
12:18 |
Comment From hanstoneI’m deep at 1B and weak in OF so I am trying to trade my Goldy for Giancarlo even tho I think Goldy has more to offer because of his durability and he can steal bags. I worry that Goldy won’t keep up the great numbers with his team already crumbling around him. Similarly, I worry that Giancarlo never will play 150 games… and his supporting cast is just bad. Thoughts?
12:19 |
Eno Sarris: Don’t worry about supporting cast in any way except R/RBI (and I don’t really actively think about those until the second or third month, definitely not when it comes to building my team, given how teams eb and flow and player change teams). It’s defensible given your situation, but I can’t help but wonder if trading your second-best 1B for a struggling OF like Bruce or something wouldn’t be a better idea.
12:19 |
Comment From toot tootMookie, Mookie, Mookie, can’t you see, sometimes your stats just hypnotize me
12:19 |
Comment From Curious GeorgeHi Eno! Thanks for doing the chat. I’m curious to know what your typical strategy is in terms of your fantasy starting pitching? What I mean by that, is do you play match ups regularly, or typically pencil your starters into the lineup at all times?
12:20 |
Eno Sarris: I lean towards streaming in h2h leagues with regular 5×5 stats. I’m thinking about jumping into those pants in my 12-teamer with some issues and great pitchers on the wire.

Comment From guest #222231is there much different with masterson you’ve noticed or is he bound to regress back

12:20 |
Eno Sarris: Velocity way down and I think that matters for a guy that throws his sinker so much.
12:20 |
Comment From OntheDLIs Robbie Ray starting because it’s Houston… or is he actually ready?
12:21 |
Eno Sarris: Not qualified to answer this completely, but it’s more about team needing him and I’d assume a guy that’s been at high minors for multiple years is close to ready at least.
12:21 |
Comment From AllysonSantos. Should I swap him for Hawkins, Axford, Broxton or Rodney?

12:21 |
Comment From GuestBauer or Eovaldi?

Eno Sarris: Eovaldi because now.
12:21 |
Comment From Stephenadam jones’ plate discipline has always been an issue… but is it starting to catch up with him?
12:22 |
Eno Sarris: Was going to at some point, relying on contact ability solely can make for steep fall-offs in my opinion. I’d call him .270/24/10 at best this year.

Eno Sarris: Hold because Cespedes has some buy low qualities to him. But I love that staff.

Comment From Mariners fanCano’s power: product of Safeco or just waiting to find his groove?
12:24 |
Eno Sarris: I always thought of him as a 25 homer guy. I think he can still hit 20+ this year. Temperature a big part of the SafeCo Problem. It’ll rise a bit.

12:24 |
Comment From Pick A ProspectAlex Meyer or Andrew Heaney
12:24 |
Eno Sarris: Alex Meyer. No question for me, based on stuff.
12:24 |
Comment From KRodSold high on him in roto (for Werth). Will I regret it?
12:24 |
Eno Sarris: God I love that trade.
12:25 |
Comment From AndrewAt what point would you consider dumping a rate-killing closer who still has a seemingly firm grasp on the job? I play in a league with K/BB in addition to ERA and WHIP, so a guy like Balfour is blowing up three categories just to help in one. I get that there only a finite number of closers in the league, but the trade-off sure doesn’t seem worth it.
12:25 |
Eno Sarris: Especially since you can get bad rates and saves from the waiver wire. I’d explore.
12:25 |
Comment From Scottshould I trade Joe Smith for Martin Perez?
12:25 |
Eno Sarris: yes. Worst velocity among closers, bottom-three strikeout rate.
12:25 |
Comment From Stephenjose abreu can’t hit 50 HR… how much regression is expected?

12:27 |
Eno Sarris: I suggested “Jose!” but then someone suggested.. dammit I forgot.
12:27 |
Eno Sarris: It was a Puerto Rican nickname for Joses I think.
12:28 |
Comment From LilyHave Phillips at 2b he is killing me, thinking about going after Dozier or Zobrist… who do you like more. Can Dozier keep this up?
12:28 |
Eno Sarris: I liked Dozier for .250 20/20 going in, so yeah in some ways I think he can keep it up.
12:28 |
Comment From GrahamWould you trade Pujols for Carlos Gonzalez?
12:28 |

12:29 |
Comment From Jeff in T.O.My Sonny Gray and Napoli for his Abreu? I’m deep in SP, but not so much in power??

Comment From NickThoughts on Lackey? Still above average the rest of the year? I have an offer to give up Rajai Davis for him. I need pitching help. Thanks for your insight.

12:30 |
Eno Sarris: Don’t love Lackey but Rajai is a 1/3 player that seems very replaceable.

12:31 |
Eno Sarris: Have it on good info that it should at least be in the custom boards soon.

12:32 |
Comment From BeavisMore on adjusting/tinkering: do you think this is a skill that would allow one (e.g., Greinke) to stay effective later in his career? Is it quantifiable?
12:32 |
Eno Sarris: I think having multiple good pitches allows for it. If the fastball starts going, you feature another pitch more often.
12:32 |

Comment From Beers Before NoonDoes C Dick eventually get a full time job in Colorado or does Blackmon stay this hot all season?
12:33 |
Eno Sarris: Blackmon’s contact rate suggests he can .290 with power and speed so the only way I see Dickerson pushing in is if Cuddyer/Morneau is long-term broken (huge possibility).

12:35 |
Eno Sarris: Well I think he should work on the position, but the book on TDA is not done. 189 plate appearances, career, and the plate discipline is good.
12:35 |
Comment From RotoCuriousThoughts on Milone? He seems to be the one Oakland SP who hasn’t put it together this year.
12:35 |
Eno Sarris: He’s definitely number five. Not sure they have a guy that’s about to take that job from him though.
12:36 |
Comment From BruceI know its only been 5 starts, but are you buying Jason Hammel? Is he better than Morton?
12:36 |
Eno Sarris: I’d take him over Morton, yes.

12:36 |
Comment From GuestKevin Gausman. When?

Comment From JakeI realized I can make bratwurst hotdogs with relish and peppers and brown mustard on lightly toasted, heavy buns any time I want. It’s been an interesting week for my digestive tract.

Comment From Miller Time?Someone dropped B Miller in my league. I have Villar as my SS so I snapped up Mr. Miller. Good move? Is he going to start seeing the ball like he did until this year?
12:39 |
Eno Sarris: Good news because your SS is borderline and you need help there, even if Miller may only hit .250 this year and also has a chance of being sent down.
12:39 |
Comment From disco derkcan you explain to me in about 100 words why Mike Trout scores so great in WAR
12:40 |
Eno Sarris: Don’t need 100: He’s really good at every facet of the game, from patience to power to baserunning to defense. Done.
12:40 |
Comment From JALPercent chance Santos holds the job? I really needed him 🙁
12:40 |

Comment From BenjiIm a Braves fan and I got Heyward and Cole Hamels for Melky and Joe Nathan. Did I do good or was a homer in this trade?
12:43 |
Eno Sarris: I love the trade.
12:43 |
Comment From AntonHow do you project Scott Kazmir for the rest of the season? Given that he’s only in his second year since his transformation, I have no idea what to expect.
12:43 |
Eno Sarris: I feel like the walk rate will get worse at some point. And the DL will beckon, Hard to put him down for 150+.
12:44 |
Comment From GraemeBilly Hamilton, R + SB, 150 realistic?
12:44 |

Eno Sarris: Dickerson on talent, but I think McLouth will play more.
12:45 |
Comment From VicChasing saves – who is the better stash at this point – D.Webb or C.Qualls?
12:45 |
Eno Sarris: Qualls I guess.
12:45 |
Comment From A Fellow ProspectorHey Eno… when a hitter is over/underperforming, which metrics do you like most for determining whether the new level of performance is sustainable?
12:46 |
Eno Sarris: Right now, it’s K%, Swing%. Soon it’s O-Swing, GB%. I’ll put an eye on BABIP all year, but it’s not the first one.
12:46 |
Comment From JALMatt Adams ends year with ___ bombs.
12:46 |
Comment From SalfinoIt takes a Nobel prize winner to understand a percentage, but a third grader can understand a ratio. It’s obvious.
12:47 |
Comment From RickTaijuan Walker throwing yet
12:47 |
Eno Sarris: yes, but only bullpens. I think he’ll come up within the month though.
12:47 |
Comment From JoeyBellehow many bench OFs do I need to carry in Ottoneu, if noe of my starting 5 are plattoners
12:47 |
Eno Sarris: Two or three still?
12:47 |
Comment From El DuqueHow did hard throwers like Schilling, Clemens, Randy Johnson, Smoltz, Etc, and others, Glavine, Maddux, Mussina, Halladay, Brown etc.. Go 230 innings anually and it seems like no pitcher is able to do this for more than 3 seasons in a row now?
12:47 |
Eno Sarris: I wonder if fastball percentage is down as people go for strikeouts more now?
12:47 |
Comment From DexI shall not jinx Tulo by asking a question about him.

12:48 |
Comment From mookie monstamookie has reached base 57 straight games. just sayin
12:48 |
Comment From Matt of the IPAw/ the elbow injury (not to mention bad command) is bradley worth hanging onto in a shallow (keep 3) keeper league. if i ride him out ill be able to keep him in the 20th next year, but, while not desperate, i could use the roster spot to stream this year.
12:48 |
Eno Sarris: Keep three? Move on.
12:48 |
Comment From TimYou like Brandon Cumpton @ BAL today? …trying to get my stream on!
12:48 |
Comment From Jackworst international beer? Heineken?
12:49 |
Eno Sarris: Yes. Although I heard that they shine light on their beers in the production line and that the skunked taste is part of the taste so we can’t blame them for their green glass.
12:49 |
Comment From Veteran PresentsHey Eno, what do you think is happening to Jedd Gyorko? He’s swinging less overall but his zone swing percentage is the same as last year. His BABIP isn’t helping him, but neiher is a .065 ISO.
12:50 |
Eno Sarris: I’m just worried that his high swSTR is catching up to him. Maybe he’s a 25% natural K% guy.
12:50 |
Comment From JoeyBelleDo you write off your beer purchases?
12:50 |
Eno Sarris: yes, ti’s research!
12:51 |
Comment From DanI cant tell if Brett Lawrie is hitting awesome nad having bad BABIP fortune, or if he’s hitting terribly and just having a brief period of unsustainable HR/FB. HALP ENO!
12:51 |
Eno Sarris: Well, homers don’t count in BABIP, so it’d be a little higher if so. I still like his combo of contact rate, power and speed…
12:51 |
Comment From ChaseDallas Keuchel or Quintana?
12:52 |
Eno Sarris: Keuchel has more pitches.
12:52 |
Comment From Gila MonsterJorge De La Rosa’s velocity is WAY up. Has a good whiffs on slider, splitter, and a decent curveball. Thoughts?
12:52 |
Eno Sarris: Yeah he deserves a longer look than I’ve given him, but there’s something there.
12:52 |
Comment From jonIs Kluber too hit-or-miss for 10-teamers? He, Ventura, Salazar, and Eovaldi are my back end
12:52 |
Eno Sarris: Droppable in ten-teamers yes.
12:52 |
Comment From DavidI love me some Alex Meyers…who will have better fantasy numbers this year – Meyers or Stroman?
12:53 |
Eno Sarris: Meyers has help from his home park, and I like his stuff a bit better too.
12:53 |
Comment From GoatI hope you aren’t too worried about Hosmer’s ground balls?! Have put out an offer for him involving selling high on pujols.
12:53 |
Eno Sarris: I am, gonna be hard to hit more than 20 HR with that GB rate.
12:53 |
Comment From Mayday MaloneGausman or Heaney?
12:53 |
Comment From American League HustleTop 3 Closers most likely to lose their jobs in May?
12:54 |
Eno Sarris: Joe Smith (betting on Frieri), whoever it is in Houston (betting on Bass), whoever it is in Oakland (betting on Johnson).
12:54 |
Comment From JoeyBelleIs there a strategy for finding undervalued RBIs to trade for?
12:55 |
Eno Sarris: Look at someone who just moved into the five-hole on a team people aren’t paying as much attention to?
12:55 |
Comment From Mayday MaloneReally curious if you think COlby Rasmus is a buy low…because my HR & RBI stink
12:56 |
Comment From tommyIs there any way to get positional data in the Zips/Steamer projection downloads?
12:56 |
Eno Sarris: Yeah haven’t figured that out. Could use our draft tools spreadsheet and vlookup, I think that has positions in it.
12:56 |
Comment From Johnny RocketsThoughts on just stuffing MI spots with speed and not worrying about the rest of the categories (Escobar/Villar types)? MI is so weak, so any ‘extreme’ categorical production seems to be the way to go if you don’t have a top guy.
12:56 |
Eno Sarris: Yeah I try to go that direction if I wait on the MI in the draft.
12:56 |
Comment From I change names tooAnswer this fantasy question

Comment From Meano Enowhat a time to be alive
12:57 |
Comment From ChrisWhat are you hearing about Bauer time in Cleveland? Comparing his schedule and Josh Tomlin’s schedule, Tomlin looks like the more likely candidate to take Carrasco’s spot in the rotation. What do you think?
12:57 |
Eno Sarris: Tomlin was the guy that was put up against CC, so that wouldn’t be crazy.
12:57 |
Comment From Guest8 team keeper, which side do you like: Teheran/Brantley for Ellsbury/Cashner?
12:57 |
Eno Sarris: Ells/Cash yes.
12:58 |
Comment From Kill the winAlso, Deschutes has made its way to Ohio, so that’s awesome.
12:58 |
Eno Sarris: Red Chair, Abyss!
12:58 |
Comment From DexWhat’s the average O-Swing for batters around the league? I realized I had no benchmark when I looked up Morneau’s, but 41.1% seems high to me.
12:58 |
Eno Sarris: 30% is a good benchmark.
12:59 |
Comment From SadwickHow much longer of a leash can the Braves give Dan Uggla? I was crossing my fingers there would at least be a dead cat bounce this year, but it looks more like a splatter. 28.9% K%, 5.2% BB%, and a 0.101 ISO. It can’t be long until La Stella shows up can it?
12:59 |
Eno Sarris: The team is doing well but yeah there will come a time when the decision is made. Problem is he can’t slide into defensive replacement at any position.
12:59 |
Comment From TubeIs Tillman rosterable in a 10 team mixed?
12:59 |
Comment From GregWhat’s up with the Kung Fu Panda?
1:00 |
Eno Sarris: I’m worried it’s a Starlin Castro situation where he’s trying to be a guy he’s not by not reaching, not swinging, getting into 0-1 counts (he’s been swinging a lot less on the first pitch, for example), and getting into trouble. I think he should just grip and rip.
1:00 |
Comment From AaronJose Fernandez should be K-Fed. Let it wash over you.
1:00 |
Comment From BananamanDo you think it’s possible that in some parallel universe Ben Revere has hit hundreds of home runs?
1:01 |
Comment From Jeff in T.O.Rendon for Dee Gordon and the Cuban Missile????
1:02 |
Eno Sarris: We still calling Sexei the Missile? Cause I like Sexei. (don’t love the trade because I like Rendon the best, but if you need depth and steals it could make sense.)
1:02 |
Comment From SadwickKing leGuest, I never tried changing my name, but I do have a tiny Eno voodoo doll that I feed hot dogs to until my questions are answered.
1:02 |
Comment From JimboWhat is up with Michael Fiers. The way he is pitching you would have to think Milwaukee will be calling, correct? Any chance he can recapture the magic from a few years ago.
1:02 |
Eno Sarris: I think an 87 mph fastball works better in the minors.
1:02 |
Comment From JakeWhoa, why so low on Kuroda?
1:03 |
Eno Sarris: I still like him, but he’s old, his slider isn’t breaking that well, and he needs it to, because his SF doesn’t go in the zone.
1:03 |
Comment From stonepiesummer is approaching which means the bastardization of beer restarts with summer shandys

Comment From im from vermontit was supposed to say Grizzly. I just cant type.
1:03 |
Comment From im from vermontso yes a dip question
1:04 |
Eno Sarris: HAH. Well I used to, and was a Copenhagen guy, but man that was a long time ago and as soon as I quit, I thought it was nasty. I mean, I rinsed with my roomates’ spitter once and that was enough for me to consider quitting.
1:04 |
Comment From RyanENO, Frieri will be back in the closing role on………….?
1:04 |
Comment From Chicago MarkYou mentioned KRod won’t keep this up. Of course he won’t. But will he keep the job all year?
1:05 |
Eno Sarris: Jim Henderson isn’t pitching the 8th in wins, I’ve noticed. Will Smith is a lefty. Kintzler more of a GBer. he could.
1:05 |
Comment From Holy smokesRe: Lackey. Been money since he got skinny.
1:05 |
Comment From RyanI offered Skaggs for Aoki, and I got turned down. Is my offer too light?
1:05 |
Comment From GregAnthony Rizzo’s ceiling: A poor man’s Joey Votto?
1:05 |
Eno Sarris: Could have equal power, less BA, so sure. Could have more power than current Votto though.
1:06 |
Comment From Gaedel CastroPicked George Springer in our minor league draft, I get two free keeper years if I I put him on my major league roster before he hits 130 AB’s. You think a bench spot in 2014 worth a free ’15 and ’16 Springer? He looks pretty bad out there…
1:06 |
Eno Sarris: For sure in OBP. Maybe even in BA given your settings.
1:06 |
Comment From HaymakerBauer…you buying that he’s a changed pitcher and his MLB results will reflect his stuff this time (if it’s him and not Tomlin that comes up soon)?
1:06 |
Eno Sarris: The ball rates on all of his pitches are way way better than they were before, and the whiff rates are still good. But opportunity still lacks if Tomlin’s next.
1:07 |
Comment From Chicago MarkWalker > Miller ROS?
1:07 |
Eno Sarris: yeah I think so. Miller doesn’t have great Power/Speed upside, so Walker isn’t too far off there, and his BA should be better.
1:07 |
Comment From ADLHow was talking to Cashner in SF? I love watching him when his 2seamer is on, I feel like he gets more movement out of it than most. He offer any insight?
1:08 |
Eno Sarris: Great great great guy. We talked two-seamer, slider (he has two now), and his approach. Have grip pix. For Monday on Fox probably.
1:08 |
Comment From Matt of the IPAre: green flash, they have like a million ipa’s. most don’t live up to the hoppy description (too much malt character), but green bullet is legit.
1:08 |
Eno Sarris: I like Green Bullet (pineapple!) but some don’t.
1:08 |
Comment From Dr. Metlot written on Blackmon’s hot start and of course he’s an obvious “sell high” if you can. what’s a reasonable return for him given everyone knows this info!
1:08 |
Comment From jimbobHey eno, do you use any programs for your research, like R? Or are you plain jane and just excel :/
1:08 |
Eno Sarris: SQL, Tableau, Excel. That’s all I got!
1:08 |
Comment From Rated RookieHold Rex Brothers or cut him loose to pick up Hawkins? Who’s the closer in Colorado by mid and end of season?
1:09 |
Eno Sarris: I’d cut him now. Ottavino ahead of him, maybe. Even if they used Rex in that save situation.
1:09 |
Comment From Matt of the IPA“Eno Sarris: He’s small and blocked?” Are we not saying phrasing anymore?

Comment From KrisLol is CDick really Corey Dickerson’s nickname
1:09 |
Comment From JoeDoes Kluber just lack command of his stuff? He has a nice arsenal of pitches but seems to give up a lot of hits but doesn’t walk many.
1:09 |
Eno Sarris: Bit of a bad fastball situation.
1:09 |
Comment From RustyWhat’s your opinion of bourbon county? Have a favorite variant?
1:10 |
Eno Sarris: I like em way more after they’ve sit for a year or three. Just the straight up one. Although I haven’t had coffee.
1:10 |
Eno Sarris: Just because it came on my spotify.
1:11 |
Comment From Cheap Alky30 packs of Natty Light for $10. You have your quality, I’ll take the quantity.
1:11 |
Eno Sarris: 30 Natty Lights equals the ABV of about 10 beers of better tasting beer, so I’ll take fewer calories, less stocking space, and will only spend a few more bucks.
1:12 |
Comment From (not that) JamesHa!That moran tried feeding his eno voodoo doll hot dogs. Everyone knows you have to give it top-notch beer. What a moran. Also, an eno voodoo doll is a vooenoo doll.

Eno Sarris: Smyly richards

1:12 |
Comment From The FawnsIt seems that recently a talking-point has circulated among oldschool baseball types that MLB replay is bad, because it removes the old, lengthy arguments between umpires and managers. This is insane, right?
1:13 |
Eno Sarris: Lengthy, no thanks. But insane, spittle-flecked, dirt-kicking, red-face? Oh man I do sorta miss that.

Comment From Paul in KCWhat’s the chance Rondon holds the closer job ROS for the Cubs and how do you like his per pitch metrics?
1:14 |
Eno Sarris: Good chance, IMO, and he’s pretty good now that he’s a couple seasons healthy.

Comment From Mark David ChapmanI actually always wondered if you guys can see IP addresses…no reason.
1:14 |
Comment From Anthony BassI’m honoured that you believe I’ll take over in Houston, but I have to ask, why? And will I post decent a ERA & WHIP along the way?
1:14 |
Eno Sarris: Well, I’m waiting for him to start striking out guys, but he has more velocity than Qualls and better control than Fields.
1:15 |
Comment From Matt of the IPArendon more like rendonkulous
1:15 |
Comment From Wily Mo Money Mo ProblemsHow much do you think it would cost to hire John Taffer as a life coach? Every time I think about doing something stupid, he could yell, “YOU’RE A LOSER!” or “YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF!” It’d be a real game changer. Probably would have to wear a glasses on account of all the spit though…

Comment From poopsie wigglesSo, my friend, let’s call him “Ben” SMELLS. I mean, HE SMELLS. He just SMELLS. Anyway, he traded Prince and Travis Wood for Sonny Gray and Austin Jackson yesterday. Question is, do you understand that he smells HORRIBLE?!
1:16 |
Eno Sarris: He smells and he gave up the best player, I guess.

Comment From Farmer Ted (not a farmer)“Look at someone who just moved into the five-hole on a team people aren’t paying as much attention to?”…… So what’s the floor/upside of on Mr. Marlon Byrd, currently a free agent in my 14 teamer?
1:17 |
Eno Sarris: .270/20 with decent RBI if that’s what you’re looking for.
1:17 |
Comment From matlockthoughts on escobar? need a SS with miller being awful..18 teamer. hicks is out there as well…
1:17 |
Eno Sarris: .280/30 sb possible for esco. No on Hicks for me.

1:17 |
Comment From Eric HosmerWill I hit a home run before July?
1:17 |
Comment From Lefebvre BeliebvreYou said in an earlier comment to look at K% for under/overperformers… that said, reasonable to be concerned about Encarnacion? Sell now?
1:18 |
Eno Sarris: Yeah there is something to be worried about there. That said, his K% is now around league average, so it’s not a Brad Miller Situation. he could hit 30 with a .260 average this year and still be great.
1:18 |
Comment From Beer BarnJay Bruce is walking and stealing more but his power is down…good or bad sign
1:18 |
Eno Sarris: Power takes forever to gain enough sample for us to say anything. But I would look at his GB/FB rates.
1:18 |
Comment From Rubby De La RosaIs Rubby the best first name in baseball right now? (I know it’s pronounced “ruby”, but don’t ruin this for me.)
1:19 |
Eno Sarris: I always say Rubby in my head instead of Ruby, so I’m totally with you. Hopefully he’s still a starter.
1:19 |
Comment From AustinDo you think that Allen Craig at some point this season will figure something out and hit a little better? His GB% just doesn’t seem sustainable to me….also, have Peralta’s struggles as of late been BABIP related?
1:19 |
Eno Sarris: .280/18 is sorta where I had him going in and I doubt I need to change it much.
1:19 |
Comment From Jeff in T.O.Sorry, though the Cuban Missile was Chapman…
1:19 |
Eno Sarris: Ah. Well, comment still stands I guess.

1:22 |
Comment From JasonKennedy looked great last week against two good teams away from Petco. What’s your view of him going forward? Do you see real improvement?
1:22 |
Eno Sarris: A tiny bit more velocity actually! I like him as a final-two pitcher in mixed leagues.

Caught Alberts 500th, gave it to Albert for nothing. Insisted that guy who dropped ball and son came with him to meet Albert. What would you have asked for?

1:24 |
Comment From Wily Mo Money Mo ProblemsDo you think Chris Russo actually talks like that during everyday conversations?

1:26 |
Comment From SadwickEno, German sausage =/= American “sausage”, that’s why your stomach can take it. I had two german roommates and they never complained about anything more than not being able to find real sausage in the US. So many preservatives, so many….
1:27 |
Eno Sarris: totally plausible. probably have a rheinheitsgebot for sausage too.
1:27 |
Comment From Ron SwansonDoes Domonic Brown get his power stroke going or should I go for Ozuna…while I still can?
1:27 |
Eno Sarris: A lot of GBs for Brown, but even at current power pace, Ozuna only another 20 HR guy, and Brown has shown more upside.
1:27 |
Comment From JaimeWhat’s the deal with George Springer? Is he not ready? Will he turn things around?
1:28 |
Eno Sarris: Was always going to K% a lot and probably struggle like this.

Eno Sarris: Who says “Regina” *that* way?
1:28 |
Comment From TylerFlowersPowerHourWhy is Steamer so pessimistic on games played?

Eno Sarris: Got everything going in the right direction and pitching the 8th in wins often enough and Hawkins K’ing 3 per nine with a 42% GB rate.
1:30 |
Comment From Terrible TedI say Jo-Fer, as in: you’re going to go 0/whatever.
1:30 |
Comment From DaveJose Fernandes’ nickname should be “The Defector” like his pitch.
1:30 |
Comment From Mike89i’m getting really angry seeing all of these lopsided trades for people in this chat and I can’t trick anyone into taking Prince Fielder from me
1:30 |
Eno Sarris: I think he could still .280/28 pretty easily when things heat up in Arlington.
1:31 |
Comment From Johnny RocketsSpeaking of JHey and Cole, I’m looking to move both right now in order to acquire Yoenis and maybe another SP. Feel like Yoenis is putting it together and JHey’s production can be replaced.
1:31 |
Eno Sarris: Better get a sexy SP back.
1:31 |
Comment From Michael
Once Harper returns who should I move to thin out to acquire another piece? Pence, Myers, J Upton, Gomez, Hosmer?
1:32 |
Eno Sarris: Huh. Strange. Uh…. I’d move Upton I guess, his BA should drop to .270/.280 RoS and he’s had power outages before.
1:32 |
Comment From AntonWill Alex Wood finish off the season, or will his awkward delivery put him on the DL?
1:32 |
Eno Sarris: I think he’ll be good for a bit, but in dynasty I’d consider selling him in ’15 or ’16.
1:32 |
Comment From SadwickFor Fernandez’s nickname; you could go the way of New York calling Jorge Posada “Georgie” and just call Jose Fernandez “Josie”.
1:32 |
Comment From MichaelWho is the first big pitching prospect to get called up beside storman?
1:33 |
Comment From (not that) JamesAs a Braves fan who gets to see Jose Fernandez’s dominance regularly, I’d say he doesn’t need a nickname. Nicknames need him. As in, “That guy is good. He needs a Jose.”

Comment From EnosaurShould I hold on to Carlos Carrasco in an al only? In wondering how much of his performance was bad luck and unfair w his mid 3s xfip and great karate and
1:33 |
Eno Sarris: Feel like this decision is somewhat final, especially since it came after a decent start in SF. Sad.
1:34 |
Eno Sarris: And yes, we should just cal K-rate karate now for our phone’s sakes.
1:34 |
Comment From RoloAny chance SF replaces Linecum or Vogelsong in the rotation?
1:34 |
Eno Sarris: Vogelsong, but I’m hoping for Edwin Escobar, not Petit.
1:34 |
Comment From CamBuck Martinez with Triple Crown of baseball ignorance during Jays’ KC trip: Brett Lawrie having an excellent season because RBIs, infield shifts aren’t proven because pitchers, and Dayton Moore = excellent GM because Yordano Ventura. Sign off on the Old Yeller treatment for Buck?
1:35 |
Comment From SethDoes Erasmo have any shot at getting back in the Mariners’ rotation and succeeding?
1:35 |
Eno Sarris: Sent him to High-A! Wow. He might be behind Maurer at this point.
1:35 |
Comment From GuestHow many games you take your boy to? 2 home opners for my 18 mo old.
1:35 |
Eno Sarris: Been to two in SD, my wife is mad at me, so we’ll go to an SF game soon. He’s 2.
1:36 |
Comment From GuestNelson, 120 min Ipa or pliny the elder, if those are the options, what are you drinking?
1:36 |
Comment From Mickey MorandiniHow long until Dice-K takes over for Farnsworth?
1:36 |
Eno Sarris: I hate this sentence. Not your fault, but I hate it. I’ll take Farns’ velocity for time being.
1:36 |
Comment From STiVoDid you see that weird behind-the-back basket catch off the wall made by Kevin Frandsen the other night in Houston? How was there not at least a split second look of surprise by him–he couldn’t have meant to do that?!
1:36 |
Eno Sarris: Yeah that was the best part, the dead-pan.
1:37 |
Comment From stonepieeno do you like house or techno at all?
1:37 |
Eno Sarris: I’ve dabbled in house, but prefer EDM. Amon Tobin!
1:37 |
Comment From (not that) JamesAlso, Jose Fernandez v. Carlos Gomez shows that it’s not pimping a home run that people hate, it’s the way a player does it. Fernandez did it, but even though the Bravos got pissed, they knew he was celebrating, not trying to show up the pitcher. They had words, both sides apologized, and now everyone (including Braves players and fans) love Fernandez. CarGo, on the other hand, definitely seems like he’s trying to say “I own your soul, you worthless trivial pitcher” when he pimps a home run.
1:38 |
Eno Sarris: I have no idea how you can place a line between those two. I want more excitement in baseball, so my line is past Gomez. Maybe I don’t want FINGER GUNZ at a batter from the pitcher after a K, but otherwise, I’m good.
1:38 |
Comment From juan pierres mustacheheineken is intentionally skunked? does that mean i can sell the old milk in the back of my fridge and tell people that it’s that way on purpose?
1:39 |
Eno Sarris: It’s locally-sourced sour cheese-milk, but it needs a french name like “fraiche.”
1:39 |
Comment From DevinKind of a moot point now that you’re credentialed, but where’s your favorite place to sit at a game?
1:39 |
Eno Sarris: I have no cash, but behind home plate so you can see the break on the pitches.
1:39 |
Comment From RotoLandoCarlos Carrasco and Eno Sarris are forever linked in my mind now. The jury is still out, but they were giving him some dirty looks.
1:40 |
Eno Sarris: Wait what about Skaggs and Rendon? Can’t I be linked to them?
1:40 |
Comment From RotoLandoHOW IS EVERYONE GETTING HEYWARD FOR SO CHEAP!?!?
1:40 |
Eno Sarris: Gonna have to go try and buy.

1:40 |
Comment From TomIs Archie Bradley going to be a true ace, or more of a number 2 or 3?
1:40 |
Eno Sarris: 60+% chance he’s a bust. That’s true of all pitching prospects.
1:41 |
Comment From Jod DohnsonDEREK NORRIS IS THE REAL DEAL AMIRITE??
1:42 |
Eno Sarris: I’m not trying to avoid your question, I just wrote about Norris in this same chat, earlier. If you want more: turning his contact rate into a good K rate is huge, and his power is translating against RHP too now, so there’s a big chance he’s breaking out. Only problem is Jaso is a lefty and great OBPer.
1:42 |
Eno Sarris: Also, jesus on the hair.
1:44 |
Comment From deeep leagueris josh collementer terrible or semi-serviceable
1:45 |
Eno Sarris: Terrible but maybe a spot starter against more terrible offenses. Still has a good changeup.
1:45 |
Comment From BobWhy do you answer the stupid questions like which pie you would eat and don’t answer reasonable questions that some of us send.
1:45 |
Eno Sarris: Because we are having fun here and there are thousands of questions in my Q.
1:45 |
Comment From KendrysMoralesWhen will I sign and how will I produce?

Comment From hopefulhow can i get your job? (serious Q)
1:49 |
Eno Sarris: Write on your own site to show that you can write often and well with clean copy and clear ideas and perhaps a niche topic, migrate to a mid-major site at some point to grow audience, try to have some great singular pieces that stand out, have a twitter presence or facebook or both, work hard after work, risk your wife leaving you (ask Matt Berry about that one, but I heard lots of groaning too), then wait until you’re getting paid a little bit and know of more opportunities you could take if you switched jobs and went full time (and probably either have savings or some idea of help if you do go full time).
1:49 |
Comment From juan pierres mustacheman, if any of these guys that use player names to send in questions were actually those players, they would be the most insecure individuals ever. “will i have a decent ERA? am i a good person? please tell me it’s gonna be OK”

Comment From JoeWhen does Alex Guerrero resurface at the MLB level? Gordon has got to return to .230, right??

With a phone full of pictures of pitchers' fingers, strange beers, and his two toddler sons, Eno Sarris can be found at the ballpark or a brewery most days. Read him here, writing about the A's or Giants at The Athletic, or about beer at October. Follow him on Twitter @enosarris if you can handle the sandwiches and inanity.
Can you give me a list of a few buy low hitters that you like to rebound? April is over and some owners are getting antsy so it may be a good time to pounce.
