Eno Sarris: Sorry! Just a bit behind. But I’ll be here in six minutes.
9:01 |
Eno Sarris: lyrics of the day. prove you didn’t google it by telling me what the dude’s last two projects were. Okay that’s probably too hard.
In New Delhi (smelly Delhi) and Hong Kong They all know that it won’t be long I count my fingers (digit counter) as night falls And draw bananas on the bathroom walls The killer cycles (humdrum), the killer hurts The passage of my life is measured out in shirts Time and motion (motion carried) time and tide

9:02 |
Comment From MaxamuzLet’s start this chat out with a quick Lucas Duda blurb. He is hitting .320 over the past 7 days.
9:02 |
Comment From GeoffBest minor league stash for this year other than Myers? Taveras, Yelich, Wheeler, or someone else?
9:02 |
Eno Sarris: If they trade Ethier, it’s Puig. Love his combo of power and contact.
9:02 |
Comment From GeorgeYu for Cespedes and Buchholz. Who says no?
9:03 |
Comment From SandyOdds that the Yankees and Red Sox finish the season atop the AL East?
9:03 |
Eno Sarris: So, the odds that the Orioles crumble? I dunno, if Gausman is great today, those odds go down. They’re just missing a little starting pitching magic.
9:04 |
Comment From #SaditudeSo… what’s the deal with Justin Verlander’s last three starts? Just a rough patch or something under the hood that should worry owners?
9:04 |
Eno Sarris: Just a little BABIP blip. Velocity is actually up a bit over the past two.
9:04 |
Comment From mattAt a stem cell conference and very disappointed that I will not be able to follow along today 🙁
9:04 |
Eno Sarris: Your work is more important than mine.
9:04 |
Comment From FishSo…Rutledge is gone and Hill keeps getting bad news. I need a 2B to fill the gap until one of them comes back. Kelly Johnson, David Murphy, Dan Uggla or Neil Walker? Thanks!
9:04 |
Eno Sarris: Walker is decent. I like him actually.
9:04 |
Comment From Guesti offered matt moore for startling marte. need avg and steals. does this sound fair?
9:05 |
Eno Sarris: I think Marte might actually be a .275 guy true-talent. Strikes out 22% of the time.
9:05 |
Comment From AndrewThanks for chatting, Eno! I’m in a shallow league and have a logjam where I constantly have only two spots for Holliday, Heyward and Moreland. What’s the best solution? Just play the matchups?
9:05 |
Eno Sarris: Easy one is never play Moreland or Heyward against lefties. It’s unclear if either really has a problem, but there’s been enough smoke that in fantasy you can call it fire.
9:06 |
Comment From NapolisDeadHipsEno, are you at all worried about Yoenis not running? BABIP is very low, so I think the average bounces back, obviously you have to get on base to run, but even when he’s been there he hasn’t run. Considering trading Greg Holland and Yoenis for Adam Jones in a 5×5 roto, but I don’t want to. Thoughts?
9:07 |
Eno Sarris: I’m worried that he’s been caught three of four times. And that his strikeout rate jumped. Weird — his contact rate is about the same, but he’s swinging more at stuff in the zone and it’s not working as well. I think that he’s probably a true talent .270 hitter with 25ish/5-10 type numbers. Still great. Maybe Adam Jonesian. So I guess I wouldn’t really make that trade.
9:07 |
Comment From ClaytonDoes Josh Rutledge’s demotion make sense? It certainly doesn’t in fantasy world, but was he THAT bad in real life? I know you predicted him to go on a run, what are your thoughts?
9:08 |
Eno Sarris: Well he wasn’t that bad in fantasy but two real life parts of his game — defense and patience — were below average. then again, I REALLY don’t think much of DJLM, so I think this is temporary. Obviously surprised by it. I thought he was a little BABIP love away from looking really good.
9:09 |
Comment From GregoryStarlin Castro – should we be worried?
9:09 |
Eno Sarris: I don’t think so. I think he’ll have a nice month or two at some point and get everything back up to his customary .290/10-15/20+.
9:09 |
Comment From Maxamuz
The Duda Abides.
9:09 |
Comment From NapolisDeadHipsGausman…watch, laugh, and enjoy that change-up.
9:09 |
Comment From Enosaurus RexRrrrroooooaaarrr!!!!!!!
9:10 |
Eno Sarris: That was fun.
9:10 |
Comment From GregoryIs Jeff Samardzija proving to be an ace? Are there 10 pitchers in the majors you’d take over Shark?
9:10 |
Eno Sarris: He and Harvey are on half my rosters and I’m having a good pitching year. Love him. I wonder what the tail end of his career will look like, once the velo goes down and his control rears its head again, and he’s a bit older than you might think, but he’s good now.
9:10 |
Comment From DanIs it worth hanging on to Jaime Garica in a keeper league? 40-man rosters w/ 25 keepers.
9:11 |
Eno Sarris: I’ll probably keep him in my 18-teamer, but not sure if I would in a 12-teamer. Shoulders suck.
9:11 |
Comment From CeetarShould I trade Lincecum for Daniel Nava or Jason Kubel? My offense sucks, my pitching is at least okay. (Ottoneu/Fangraphs points)
9:11 |
Eno Sarris: Sure. I’d take Kubel because he’s fine if you can slot him in against righties.
9:11 |
Comment From GuestWho comes back to the bigs first, Josh Rutledge or Jesus Montero?
9:11 |
Eno Sarris: Rut Rut. He’s not trying to learn a new position. Montero has to learn first base and then be better than Smoak. He can do those things, but man.
9:12 |
Comment From DjangoWhat is the difference between Jason Heyward and Bryce Harper in a dynasty league? Is it a top 10 pitcher? Top 15?
9:12 |
Eno Sarris: top 20? If OBP, top 50. But in batting average league, maybe Harper outdoes him in that cat, and probably in power, speed up in the air, and team issues (R/RBI) also.
9:12 |
Comment From Galaraggabetter ROS Kemp or Gomez?
9:13 |
Eno Sarris: Kemp’s shoulder worries me. Must still hurt. I’ll take Kemp, but if I could trade Kemp and something for Gomez and a clear upgrade on my something, I’d probably do it.
9:13 |
Comment From Yan…Im TiredIs Ryan Howard rosterable in an 8-team league? Though I suppose this also begs the question of whether platooning in an 8-team league is an efficient use of the roster spots.
9:13 |
Comment From magguuGood day! My SP is in shambles after drafting Hamels and Price. Is Kyle Gibson worth a pickup at the expense of a stashed Colby Lewis? I’ll send you a case of Good People American IPA!
9:14 |
Eno Sarris: I’m interested! Kyle Gibson might not be a big strikeout guy. I might wait for another report from Lewis. It’s not good to hear he’s at 85ish right now. If he feels better before coming up, then I’d rather have the vet here.
9:14 |
Comment From TimA.Eaton still worth holding on to?
9:14 |
Eno Sarris: I think TJ is coming. And the DBacks have decent options in center.
9:14 |
Comment From Rags11 Team NL-only roto. I’m in first overall. Something like 3rd or 4th in saves, with two closers. Nobody else has more than two closers. Should I trade a future keeper piece for a third closer in a pre-emptive strike to lock up the category? Or stand pat and see how things shake out? Waiver is reverse-standings, so I’m pretty much never going to get an emerging closer off of injury or role change.
9:15 |
Eno Sarris: I think you think two steps ahead. Like pick up Boxberger in SD. or a handcuff for a guy that seems like he’s fine, like Melancon (probably gone, but you get the picture). Another way to think about it: you can only get three more points in that cat and nobody has more closers than you. Just need to get lucky.
9:15 |
Comment From John TudorWith the recent rash of injuries to the Cardinals’ pitching, do you think they kick the tires on Bob Tewksbury and/or Rheal Cormier?
9:16 |
Eno Sarris: NO BUT WHY NO CMART OR WACHA
9:16 |
Comment From GoatEno!! So if Billy Hamilton gets called up where does he jump to on your SS rankings? He may not even play everyday, but pinch runs late on in games and gets a bunch of SBs… For the right team, given that SSs low on the board are in general pretty dire, that could have a lot of value in itself, no?
9:16 |
Eno Sarris: For sure he’d immediately be top 15 at worst. I think he’d come into the top 12.
9:16 |
Comment From SandyWhat beer should I drink tonight?
9:17 |
Eno Sarris: Had some Goose Island Matilda last night, and it’s readily available and decent. If you don’t want to IPA it all up. If it’s warm by you, pick up a saison. Brux from Sierra is great.
9:17 |
Comment From BillEno, I’m in first place (by a lot) of a shallowish 12 team h2h. Just traded some of my depth and Doug Fister for Hamels. Immediately got offered Verlander/Heyward/C. Perez for Kershaw/Swisher. My utility and RP slots are weakest, but I’m hesitant to change up my team too much when its going so well. What do you do in similar situations?
9:17 |
Eno Sarris: I like the deal. I’m not worried about Verlander.
9:17 |
Comment From JTNot fantasy related, but why does miggy get credited with a homer on the play that bounced off bourne’s glove? if that stays in the park its clearly an error, so why was that not just a base error?
9:18 |
Eno Sarris: What do you give him? A triple and an error?
9:18 |
Comment From LudeBurgerLIGHTNING!! REAL LIGHTNING!
9:18 |
Eno Sarris: A bit… premature.
9:18 |
Eno Sarris: Unless you mean you just saw some, in which case: cool.
9:18 |
Eno Sarris: I always liked heat lightning.
9:18 |
Comment From Flannel UndiesCan John Danks be relevant in a 12 team 5×5 league for this season? Who is his best comp for the rest of the season?
9:19 |
Eno Sarris: I’m not interested. 4/1.3/6K9 if he’s healthy.
9:19 |
Comment From JeffHey Eno – Ucai here. Isn’t Everth Cabrera > Prado at this point? Even if Prado’s hitting eventually comes around (he has been putrid), Everth’s SB’s are the only one dominent stat. 14 team roto.
9:20 |
Eno Sarris: .250 true talent batting average, with almost zero power vs a guy that *should* help in all categories, with no dominance. Obviously, team needs are a big deal here. But needs aside, I’d take Prado for my team. I like five-catters.
9:20 |
Comment From Guy who doesnt get itHow can Jose Bautista add more than 100% Win Probability Added for the Jays. Stupid mathamagicians and their new fangled stats.
9:21 |
Comment From CircusfaceThe hell? I was really banking on Rutledge!
9:21 |
Comment From Warm JetsDo releases with David Byrne count?
9:21 |
Eno Sarris: Love the sly lyrics of the day answer but no answer in that lude.
9:21 |
Comment From DanGyorko or walker for 2b? Simmions or Hardy for ss? 5×5 roto Who has the higher ceiling?
9:22 |
Eno Sarris: Walker, if he steals. Hardy for now, Simmons might have higher ceiling, but hardy is healthy and slugging and that’s what he does.
9:22 |
Comment From GeoffMatt Harvey for Yoenis Cespedes? Yes or No?
9:23 |
Eno Sarris: Might actually take the pitcher here. Usually, injuries mean take the hitter, but Yoenis has had some injuries and is not a first rounder. And even if he’s like Adam Jones, he’s been injured more, which makes him about a third rounder on upside. Then you add in current struggles.
9:23 |
Eno Sarris: Which might go back on what I was saying earlier that Yoenis ~ Adam Jones, but I don’t think it does. Injuries and play separate them, not upside or talent.
9:24 |
Comment From Clownbro mcQuestionsany thoughts on Henry Urrutia?
9:24 |
Eno Sarris: As a polished, older Cuban that’s dominating, he’s ready-ier than most for the bigs, but where does he play without an injury? Are they going to DH him?
9:24 |
Comment From Mike TroutHow are we to understand my 2013 FLD rating?
9:24 |
Eno Sarris: Positioning? Small sample blip.
9:24 |
Comment From Guestthoughts on feldman ROS? tim hudson? who would you rather have
9:25 |
Eno Sarris: Feldman. It’s not like either is going to give you many Ks.
9:25 |
Comment From BubbaBiscuitIs Francisco Liriano for real?
9:25 |
Eno Sarris: I love a lefty with home run issues in a park that suppresses righty home runs. so for home starts, really like him. On the road against weaker offenses, like him. 75% of a really good #3 or so. Ks!
9:26 |
Comment From GuestMore surprising: Rockies or Nationals?
9:26 |
Eno Sarris: Rockies and I think they’ll fade.
9:27 |
Comment From TylerHow does Gausman do tonight & beyond?
9:27 |
Eno Sarris: Toronto is a tough matchup. I think he’ll be okay tonight and better going forward.
9:27 |
Comment From SandyDoes Ellsbury bounce back some? (Not to 2011 levels, but certainly better than what we’ve seen)
9:28 |
Eno Sarris: yes. I think he’s a true talent .275 10/35+ guy, which is really good actually.
9:28 |
Comment From JTFinally channeling your namesake in here!
9:28 |
Comment From person hscerMan, I forgot today was your chat day…twice. remembered this morning and then forgot again til just now.
9:28 |
Comment From MattKings Lead Hat; 77 Million Paintings and Digital Lion maybe? What 2b do you have as good value pickups/trade targets?
9:29 |
Eno Sarris: Lude with a real nice answer. I’ll add: he’s doing hospital rooms now. Hospital rooms!
9:30 |
Eno Sarris: Neil Walker is showing up in a bunch of places as an option. He’s better than most. Obviously Gyorko is probably gone and should be. Rickie Weeks shouldn’t be out there. I had to pick up Mark Ellis…
9:30 |
Comment From person hscerOnly 5 games today. Good day to sit out of FG The Game? (BTW am I the only one who plays this anymore? :P)
9:30 |
Eno Sarris: If you’re with the pace, yes!
9:31 |
Comment From PopAL only- assuming a call up Kyle Wilson of Nick Tepasch?
9:31 |
Eno Sarris: I actually like what Tepesch is doing. It’s solid enough. GBs are real IMO.
9:31 |
Comment From MikeyWho do you like better the rest of the season? Andrelton Simmons or Jhonny Peralta? And no post-interview bias, please.
9:32 |
Eno Sarris: I don’t believe anything Peralta is doing right now. Still a .250/14 true talent guy. Have to think even .280/10/10 beats that. Yes, yes it does.
9:32 |
Comment From TomGood move to stream Danks at Miami tomorrow?
9:32 |
Eno Sarris: Most against Miami so yes.
9:32 |
Comment From Clownbro mcQuestionsJesus is being let loose on AAA…..straight up drop in anything but dynasty?
9:33 |
Eno Sarris: yes. Well, and AL-only two-catcher leagues like AL-LABR where I”M JUST SCREWED.
9:33 |
Comment From GnatsIs Denard Span unrosterable? I figured hitting atop that lineup he’d be good for 100 runs….now he just gives me the runs….thoughts?
9:34 |
Eno Sarris: In twelve-teamers he’s probably a bench piece at best. .270/5/25 is not super.

Comment From Clownbro mcQuestionsHow much wood could travis wood chuck if travis wood did in fact chuck wood?
9:34 |
Comment From GrohmanI’m in a league where I buy a six pack every three days and drink it. Wait, this isn’t a league…
9:35 |
Eno Sarris: After a good interlude, I’m always ready to answer more questions.
9:35 |
Comment From Guest #1Do Propect catchers fail more often than other position players? Im wondering whether to invest in Gary Sanchez
9:35 |
Eno Sarris: yes, in fact they do fail more often. There’s a royals review piece on the bust rates of prospects that did it by position.
9:35 |
Comment From GuestRe: Josh Rutledge. Was it just BABIP (un)luck that caused this? His LD% is very low, and GB% is very high
9:35 |
Eno Sarris: well, BABIP is generally low if your LD is low, but yeah I do think luck factored in.
9:35 |
Comment From JeffWWs offered Segura for Zunino in a dynasty league. Who has the better upside?
9:36 |
Eno Sarris: Zunino can’t hit a curve ball right now and is a catcher. But maybe he’s closer these days. short is hard to man too. I’d take Segura even if I think he’s “only” a .300/10/30 guy.
9:36 |
Comment From SagarI own both Masterson and Corbin in a Dynasty League. Which is the better sell high?
9:37 |
Eno Sarris: MASTERSON. Sorry, I just don’t believe. Sinker slider means you don’t have a breaking pitch going away from lefties. Means he’s throwing the slider at the hands of lefties and right now they’re swinging. If they don’t swing, they walk.
9:37 |
Eno Sarris: Or hit homers.
9:37 |
Comment From Baseball4NerdsHi Mr. Sarris! Curious question. I’m a bettor and have used the stat SIERA for pitching. Do you think that stat will ever play a significant role for teams to judge the pitchers in any way?
9:38 |
Eno Sarris: I do think that each team tries to evaluate pitchers independent of their environment, and I do like that SIERA is not 100% DIPS in that it assumes some control over things like BABIP and LOB%. So I would say that teams are using something that looks like it.
9:38 |
Comment From Feeeesh headRicky Nolasco sold his soul to Beelzebub…true or false?
9:38 |
Eno Sarris: But it’ll only last for a few weeks so it was a bad bargain.
9:38 |
Comment From accAre you in the camp that Moore is a sell high
9:39 |
Eno Sarris: I hemmed and hawwed about this on the podcast this week. I’m not rational about him. All the points that Podhorzer made were good. I still like his stuff and think he can have a great year.
9:39 |
Comment From LarryAHow can people be saying Steals are down? Ortiz swiped 3rd last night, and Hafner has 2 already
9:39 |
Eno Sarris: Singlehandedlychangingthings
9:39 |
Eno Sarris: singlefootedly?
9:39 |
Comment From JoshI need avg/speed help in a keeper. Im stacked with pitchers and considering trading Iwakuma and Valverde for Adam Jones. Good move?
9:39 |
Eno Sarris: Yes but he’s not a great speedster any more.
9:40 |
Comment From MetsamorphosisMy Pitchers are: Waino, Miley, Lincecum, Griffin,Teheran, Corbin, Romo, Grilli. 3b is M’brooks/Arenado. Do I trade Waino for Panda?
9:40 |
Eno Sarris: No you need that ace. I think Arenado will get it going again. (Kiss of death)
9:40 |
Comment From NedIsn’t an inverted W just an M? Lookin at you Chris Sale
9:41 |
Eno Sarris: just read about that again. the emphasis is on the inverted, not the letter.
9:41 |
Comment From hoohaThe Rut-Rut demotion was simply done so that when he comes back up and his BABIP stabilizes, everybody points to the GM as a genius and the demotion somehow “fixed” him.
9:41 |
Comment From SandyHow concerned should I be about Middlebrooks’ propensity to K and not walk? I knew he had an aggressive approach, but come on if he continues at this pace he’ll be seeing the pine relatively soon.
9:42 |
Eno Sarris: The K thing is more of a problem in fantasy unless you in an OBP league. And it’s a real problem.
9:42 |
Comment From EddieHow big of a betrayal to the roto community was Colorado’s decision to demote Rutledge?
9:42 |
Eno Sarris: They care naught for us.
9:42 |
Comment From ChuckBetter stash: Brett Anderson or Dan Hudson?
9:42 |
Comment From GradyDoes Grandal take over the bulk of playing time next Tuesday when he’s activated from his suspension? If so, what can we look at from him going forward?
9:42 |
Eno Sarris: I like him. I think he will. Maybe .275+/15-hr pace? Upside of .280+/20 pace.
9:43 |
Comment From TomAre you buying either of the hot Mays out of Belt and Gyorko?
9:43 |
Eno Sarris: I’m buying Belt as a .270/18/10 kind of guy now. Maybe he’ll push that to 22 or so. Gyorko not stealing a bunch. Maybe .275/18? So, yes buying to an extent.
9:43 |
Comment From JohnJohnHave Kinsler DL’d and grabbed Gyorko to sub for him…Profar is still available despite the hype…should I scoop him up or roll with Gyorko for the next 2 weeks?
9:44 |
Comment From PopDoes EY get a look at 2B in Colorado? Seems Weis relly likes him
9:44 |
Eno Sarris: “really likes him” is what he said about Rut-Rut before sending him down, and EY before not playing him.
9:44 |
Comment From jesseMORE RUTLEGDE QUESTIONS; Gyroko, N.Walker, Freese or Lawrie – who replaces rutledge in a 5×5 h2h obp league
9:44 |
Comment From AJBrett Lawrie – How much longer do we wait? He couldnt steal last year, doesnt steal this year, seems to have average power, and regressing contact skills. Is he just replacement level?
9:45 |
Eno Sarris: I’ll give Lawrie a few more weeks. And, given what he’s shown, I’ll even give him a final bench spot next year if he’s crappy all year. There’s talent in there somewhere.
9:45 |
Comment From V.LoweIs James Loney really going to continue to climb stone mountain this year?
9:45 |
Eno Sarris: I don’t believe in Kotchman redux.
9:45 |
Comment From RazorYou taking Gausman or Wacha ROS as of today?
9:45 |
Eno Sarris: Gausman. Cards might not ever start Wacha since they’re all up in Gast and Lyons’ biz and Carlos Martinez is up.
9:46 |
Comment From SteveHas Myers lost some of his luster? His AAA numbers this year have been uninspiring.
9:47 |
Eno Sarris: He was showing a contact problem and then it got worse. But power doesn’t stabilize quickly and we have a long track record of power for him. I’ll stick with my belief that he’s going to start at about a .250/.350 level with 20ish homer power. Better in OBP leagues.
9:47 |
Comment From DavidWas offered a 1$ Erv Santana for 10$ Gausman. AL only. thoughts?
9:47 |
Eno Sarris: I wish Gausman wasn’t so expensive, but Santana is another fastball/slider guy I don’t believe in.
9:47 |
Comment From Always MOAR questionsI know he’s not close to the majors but is Buxton worth picking up in a 12 team keeper league yet? Or should I wait for a while on him?
9:47 |
Eno Sarris: I think he’s a way away.
9:47 |
Comment From jesseIm in a H2H 5X% OBP league; Ivw wound up with 4 Cards (Holliday, Freese, Carpenter & Beltran); strategically is this an issue?
9:48 |
Eno Sarris: Might run into a buzz saw at one point, but I think you’re fine. Might sell Beltran because his knees make me nervous.
9:48 |
Comment From EricWith Montero’s demotion, do you think Nick Franklin is due up soon?
9:48 |
Eno Sarris: just because they’re willing to give up on guys now? Maybe.
9:48 |
Comment From V.LoweIs Joel Peralta work a pickup? Between the pinetar and the 89 mph fastball, I’m not sure he has the stuff for a closer
9:49 |
Eno Sarris: yeah but McGee is still faltering and Farns hasn’t found his way yet. That’s a conundrum. I’ll bet against Rodney any day of the week, but who am I to bet ON?
9:49 |
Comment From Finders KeepersWho is a good 2B prospect to pick up in a Keeper points league? Wong? Gyorko? Someone else?
9:49 |
Eno Sarris: Gyorko for sure.
9:49 |
Comment From JeffROS…Heyward or Fowler?
9:49 |
Comment From Topper HarleyAren’t these moments the best? Ready? Nice call on Gyorko!
9:49 |
Comment From CeetarGiven seasonal creep, what winter beers do you think are the best BBQ beers?
9:50 |
Eno Sarris: wow is it still cold for you? Sucks. I’d probably just go IpA since it’s an inbetween/spring beer anyway. or a lighter milk stout — they exist.
9:50 |
Comment From DavidWas offered a 20$ Granderson by a rebuilding owner for 10$ Wil Myers in an AL only keeper. Thoughts?
9:50 |
Eno Sarris: If you’re competitive, maybe, it’s not like that Myers price is so awesome.
9:50 |
Comment From RazorWill BAR replacement level take into account how widely available a particular beer is or isn’t?
9:51 |
Eno Sarris: Yes, but we’ll attack that two different ways. The first way is just to give credit for many check ins. Later, we’ll look at replacement level on a regional basis.
9:51 |
Comment From NapolisDeadHipsThe Twins may not know this, but they should call Alex Meyer, he’s better than Kyle Gibson.
9:51 |
Eno Sarris: Truth. But readiness?
9:51 |
Comment From SethSo you’d say that all things created equal in keeper value in an OBP league, heyward = harper + say, fister?
9:52 |
Eno Sarris: I’m going to agree even though obviously that doesn’t look right at the moment. You have to remember the good Heyward, not the injured/smallsample bad Heyward.
9:52 |
Comment From Johnny RocketsWe know you like A-Cash-money, but do you share similar concerns that your colleagues do over the shift in his repertoire?
9:52 |
Eno Sarris: yeah the lower K% is a little worrisome. Plus, with injury, he’s a decent sell.
9:52 |
Comment From GeoffI wish Rosenthal and Martinez weren’t called up and started the year in the minors as starters so they could be up now taking Westbrook and Garcia’s spots. That would be some nice strikeout upside starters who throw heat. Any shot Gast and Lyons blow up and they stretch one of those two out? Or Kelly? Thanks!
9:53 |
Eno Sarris: Martinez maybe. I feel like he was a starter this year even.
9:53 |
Comment From GregoryWho do you believe in more – Liriano or Kazmir?
9:53 |
Eno Sarris: Liriano is in the correct league for a pitcher of this caliber.
9:53 |
Comment From Guest #1Wait! is Yan Gomes actually something?
9:53 |
Eno Sarris: Big change in contact rate. And who’s playing first base for the Indians? That said, it would blow my mind in a way.
9:53 |
Comment From MixRutledge is in AAA, leaving me to pick up the pieces. I have J.J. Hardy on my bench already, but a quick glance at the waiver wire shows Alexei Ramirez and Jed Lowrie as other options. Who do you think I should use? Thanks. (OBP, SLG, HR, R, SB)
9:54 |
Eno Sarris: Lowrie over Ramirez, roster both Lowrie and Hardy because of injury. Get Lowrie in there v RHP. Maybe Hardy at home for power?
9:54 |
Comment From Topper HarleyOver/under! Ruggiano: .250 avg 22HR 18sb
9:54 |
Eno Sarris: under under under… and yet useful
9:54 |
Comment From Clownbro mcQuestionsbeer recc of the day: “The Shed” brewery from VT’s IPA is very very good and very reasonably priced.

Comment From SagarIf Zunino gets called up, would you drop Sal Perez for him?
9:55 |
Comment From jesseThe BP report liats League as a RED, is there any actual indication other than his sucking to think Janseen is imminetly headed to the closer role?
9:55 |
Eno Sarris: Well that and the fact that Kenley got a save recently. I think that’s up in the air.
9:55 |
Comment From JJ ownertalk me out of holding roster spots for O’Day and Strop as a JJ owner. Which to drop?
9:56 |
Eno Sarris: Strop. he’s got the velocity but he’s being used less in high leverage than O’Day, and his walks are crazy.
9:56 |
Comment From GregoryOver/under 15 saves for Rex Brothers this season?
9:56 |
Eno Sarris: Over actually. I thought Betancourt might be injured before the groin thing because his velocity and control have been worse and he’s a control monster usually.
9:56 |
Comment From jessewhy not a 4 base error??
9:57 |
Eno Sarris: I think they’re just reticent to award four bases on an error.
9:57 |
Comment From HogwagonHad my first Dark Lord over the weekend. #Glory. That’s all i got for you
9:57 |
Eno Sarris: I really like that brewery.
9:58 |
Comment From Bryn SmithTell us something about Archi Cianfrocco.
9:58 |
Eno Sarris: He was never once better than replacement on the field, but on the jersey, he was supercalifragilistic.
9:58 |
Comment From FishThe M’s are calling up Jesus Sucre! Sweet Jesus!
9:58 |
Eno Sarris: A JESUS FOR YOU AND A JESUS FOR YOU AND A

9:59 |
Comment From GrohmanBeer fantasy league. The equivalent of Miguel Cabrera is a 6-pack of something that you would be happy to see in your fridge every single time. Who (what) beer is your #1 pick? (Remember – must come in 6 packs to have max value).
9:59 |
Eno Sarris: I’ve seen a sixer of Ballast Point Sculpin IPA before.
9:59 |
Comment From person hscerWait, you’re allowed to write your own ludes?

Eno Sarris: I make the rules.
10:00 |
Comment From BeeriousPlease explain? Are all Saisons Bretts? Are all Bretts Saisons?
10:00 |
Eno Sarris: No, all Saisons are not Bretts. Just the best ones.
10:00 |
Comment From CircusfaceBest play of all time: HR of Canseco’s head or Babe “calling his shot?”
10:01 |
Eno Sarris: We all saw the head one and it was glorious. Came about the same time he threw out his elbow pitching didn’t it? What a year.
10:01 |
Comment From JPTraded Anibal Sanchez for Matt Holliday… not to shabby right?
10:01 |
Eno Sarris: yeah I like that.
10:01 |
Comment From MaxamuzI once was driving through Nebraska and took a picture of a Rainbow and lightning strike at the same time. It would make Duda proud.
10:01 |
Comment From BJDisappointed in Desmond Jennings?
10:02 |
Eno Sarris: I always thought he was about a .275/10/30 guy with a little upside, so no I’m not yet disappointed in him. Just, like, giddyap dude, get it going a bit. You know. supportive.
10:02 |
Comment From RKThink Jerome Williams keeps his job? Think he’s serviceable?
10:02 |
Eno Sarris: deep league serviceable
10:02 |
Comment From JoeJoeDonaldson (out-of-nowhere dude), Lawrie (in the tank now, but the potential is there), Arenado (steady but unspectacular for this season) or Chris Johnson at 3B ROS?
10:03 |
Eno Sarris: Donaldson and Lawrie. Go the quantity route.
10:03 |
Comment From CJI have 5 OFs in a 3 OF, 1 UTIL league…trying to figure out how to deal with the playing time…Kemp, A. Jackson, Jennings, Gardner, and Fowler. Thoughts?
10:04 |
Eno Sarris: Gardner sits v LHP, and in general can sit a bit. Start Kemp, AJax all the time. Fowler is better v LHP, but I’d start him most of the time and all of the time at home. Jennings and Gardner sit, mostly.
10:04 |
Comment From MiketronI wouldn’t get too excited about Gibson yet. His control/velocity doesn’t seem all the way back yet. He has just dominated some weak AAA teams.
10:04 |
Eno Sarris: Weird because at one point his velocity was ahead of his pre-surgery velocity.
10:04 |
Comment From TravisWhat do you think Gattis’ ceiling for homers is?
10:05 |
Eno Sarris: This year? 20. Full season? 30? Not great in patience and D, but I think he’ll be ATlanta’s starting catcher next year.
10:05 |
Comment From MaxamuzCan Matt Cains woes be fixed by adjusting his release point? I believe its lower than usual.
10:05 |
Eno Sarris: That might mean injury problems. But he’s just been unlucky if you ask me.
10:05 |
Comment From ChristopherI’ve got Ian Desmond at short in a Scoresheet league, with Didi on the bench. I need some relief pitching and a center fielder not named “Ruggiano.” What should I do?
10:06 |
Eno Sarris: Desmond for a big bopper star CF. I think Didi’s defense will make him serviceable even if he’s not this good, and Dez’ defense will never be plus.
10:06 |
Comment From ChetDoes anyone stand out to you on this list: Morrow, Maholm, Cahill, Hellickson, Niese, Parker, Kennedy? Thanks!
10:06 |
Eno Sarris: Maholm and Cahill. I know they are GBers but they’re good GBers. Still holding out hope for Parker.
10:06 |
Comment From Guesttrade m.moore for samardzija?
10:07 |
Eno Sarris: Just straight up? I had them 16/17 so that’s just weird. I guess I would, but I’d ask for an upgrade elsewhere or it’s just treading water mostly.

10:08 |
Comment From Hogwagonhas Jarrod Parker slowly/quietly started to look better? good buy low candidate?

Comment From KamUnstash Lewis and stash Carpenter or Beckett?
10:09 |
Comment From LarryAHas someone done a study that shows that some position players are more fragile than others, or is the ability to stay on the field more of a myth than anything
10:09 |
Eno Sarris: Seems like a myth. I have a graph of DL time lost by position in my piece on Lowrie.
10:09 |
Comment From KevinHow do you handle it when people make you completely asinine offers in fantasy?
10:10 |
Eno Sarris: leave em open so that I remember who they’re interested in and I can tell if they’re about to make a move with those players (they have to cancel).
10:10 |
Comment From dudeGausman or Jose Fernandez ROS?

10:13 |

With a phone full of pictures of pitchers' fingers, strange beers, and his two toddler sons, Eno Sarris can be found at the ballpark or a brewery most days. Read him here, writing about the A's or Giants at The Athletic, or about beer at October. Follow him on Twitter @enosarris if you can handle the sandwiches and inanity.
Should I trade Lincecum for Daniel Nava or Jason Kubel? My offense sucks, my pitching is at least okay. (Ottoneu/Fangraphs points)
no.
You can get more for The Freak, as bad as he has been.
