9:05	Eno Sarris: Easy one is never play Moreland or Heyward against lefties. It’s unclear if either really has a problem, but there’s been enough smoke that in fantasy you can call it fire.

Eno, are you at all worried about Yoenis not running? BABIP is very low, so I think the average bounces back, obviously you have to get on base to run, but even when he’s been there he hasn’t run. Considering trading Greg Holland and Yoenis for Adam Jones in a 5×5 roto, but I don’t want to. Thoughts?

Eno Sarris: I’m worried that he’s been caught three of four times. And that his strikeout rate jumped. Weird — his contact rate is about the same, but he’s swinging more at stuff in the zone and it’s not working as well. I think that he’s probably a true talent .270 hitter with 25ish/5-10 type numbers. Still great. Maybe Adam Jonesian. So I guess I wouldn’t really make that trade.

9:08	Eno Sarris: Well he wasn’t that bad in fantasy but two real life parts of his game — defense and patience — were below average. then again, I REALLY don’t think much of DJLM, so I think this is temporary. Obviously surprised by it. I thought he was a little BABIP love away from looking really good.

11 Team NL-only roto. I’m in first overall. Something like 3rd or 4th in saves, with two closers. Nobody else has more than two closers. Should I trade a future keeper piece for a third closer in a pre-emptive strike to lock up the category? Or stand pat and see how things shake out? Waiver is reverse-standings, so I’m pretty much never going to get an emerging closer off of injury or role change.

Eno Sarris: I think you think two steps ahead. Like pick up Boxberger in SD. or a handcuff for a guy that seems like he’s fine, like Melancon (probably gone, but you get the picture). Another way to think about it: you can only get three more points in that cat and nobody has more closers than you. Just need to get lucky.

Eno!! So if Billy Hamilton gets called up where does he jump to on your SS rankings? He may not even play everyday, but pinch runs late on in games and gets a bunch of SBs… For the right team, given that SSs low on the board are in general pretty dire, that could have a lot of value in itself, no?

Eno, I’m in first place (by a lot) of a shallowish 12 team h2h. Just traded some of my depth and Doug Fister for Hamels. Immediately got offered Verlander/Heyward/C. Perez for Kershaw/Swisher. My utility and RP slots are weakest, but I’m hesitant to change up my team too much when its going so well. What do you do in similar situations?

9:23	Eno Sarris: Might actually take the pitcher here. Usually, injuries mean take the hitter, but Yoenis has had some injuries and is not a first rounder. And even if he’s like Adam Jones, he’s been injured more, which makes him about a third rounder on upside. Then you add in current struggles.

9:38	Eno Sarris: I do think that each team tries to evaluate pitchers independent of their environment, and I do like that SIERA is not 100% DIPS in that it assumes some control over things like BABIP and LOB%. So I would say that teams are using something that looks like it.
