Comment From Compton Brandon Moss seems like the kind of baseball player that I’d like to have a beer with. What beer pairs well with a Brandon Moss?
12:01
Eno Sarris: Something bubbly because he’s a maniac. So much energy.
12:01
Comment From Lenard Eno, can I just say that you’ve been absolutely killing it with these interview articles.
12:01
Eno Sarris: Hah. Thanks! This one was just a ton of fun.
12:01
Comment From Jose Did you ever have the chance to talk to Mussina about pitching?
12:02
Eno Sarris: No and I want to, if only to talk about the knuckle curve!
12:02
Comment From timmys tiddies stream edinson vs the braves today?
12:02
Eno Sarris: Sure, although I kinda like Koehler better.
12:02
Comment From Kris Rollins and Moss pieces are amazing, keep em coming! You think your ‘relationship’ with Doolittle helped with the Moss one? Or are they all their own entity when it comes to a 1 on 1.
12:02
Eno Sarris: There might be something to that, just because they can see who you talk to. But these days I mostly hang out by Jaso and Fuld and their lockers.
12:03
Comment From Kanye West Corey Kluber, I’m real happy for you, and imma let you finish, but Phil Hughes had the best strikeout to walk ratio of all time. THE BEST STRIKEOUT TO WALK RATIO OF ALL TIME
12:03
Comment From neal phil hughes has 16 walks, and 16 wins. conclusion: phil hughes should walk more batters
12:03
Comment From Art Vandelay Just allow that to soundtrack the next 22 minutes of your life.
12:03
Comment From Lenard Thoughts on what type of triple slash Yelich will consistently produce in his prime? What about a potential career year?
12:04
Eno Sarris: I think the career year will look like .280/.360/.480 or something, with 25/20. I like him a lot. The ‘bell curve’ problem will be batting average and strikeouts, in that he’ll have to grow into a better batting average and it will fall off again at some point.
12:05
Comment From Perplexed Fantasy GM Hi Eno. I need your guidance!!! I’m fighting for a fantasy title and it may come down to who wins the K category. I’m a hair away from reaching my innings limit, and I own both Kuroda and Gausman. Given that they’re facing off tonight, I can only choose one. Can you look into your crystal ball and tell me which one I should start in hopes of getting the most strikeouts?!?
12:05
Eno Sarris: I’ll bet on Gausman because of the Yankee lineup.
12:05
Comment From Tony G. Are there any quirks that fantasy owners should expect on the final day of the season? Are players on teams headed to the playoffs more likely to sit, play a few innings, or play the full game like all the others?
12:06
Eno Sarris: So man quirks. Pitchers will be shut down. Stars will take a seat before the game or early in the game. Final day sucks. I even think if you’re blowing up your innings by streaming a ton of pitchers, it’s better to do it on Saturday than Sunday.
12:07
Comment From Larry Loophole I’m not sure if you can answer this, but you’re my best hope! We use Yahoo for our keeper league, and I know that they count all statistics accrued on the day you hit your positional cap, even if you go over the maximum on that day. My question is in regards to hitting your innings limit, and what happens if I have 0.1 IP remaining going into the final day of the season. Does Yahoo round it to 0 and prohibit me from sending out my pitchers, or does that 0.1 let me suit up my arms and “cheat” the system? Hope that made sense and thanks as always for your help!
12:07
Eno Sarris: I think it’ll let you start em. Unfortunately, I don’t know. Perhaps hit up Andy Behrens on twitter?
12:07
Comment From AL Pitching Coach Assuming that getting the win is my primary focus, would you be so kind as to rank your confidence for the following starts: Kazmir @ Texas, Holland vs. Oakland, Gray @ Texas. Many thanks!!!
12:08
Eno Sarris: Gray number one, Holland number two.
12:08
Comment From Kris Prefer Baez or Polanco as a last round keeper next year?
12:09
Eno Sarris: Baez because of position mostly. I still like Polanco, but his ceiling is lower and ceiling is super important in fantasy, where okay is not great.
12:09
Comment From Stephen Red, purple, or green grapes?
12:09
Eno Sarris: Red?
12:09
Eno Sarris: Green can get sour.
12:09
Comment From Woods What is your take on Rougned Odor for next year and beyond in real life and in fantasy? His 20-y.o. rookie season has yielded a 92 wRC+ and 0.6 WAR compared to Profar’s 2013 20-y.o. rookie season of 75 wRC+ and -0.4 WAR, with a possibly similar power/speed mix.
12:10
Eno Sarris: Yeah and a setback for Profar. He’s inching towards actually having a job in hand in my projections.
12:10
Comment From Guest Betts or Bogaerts? For real life…
12:10
Eno Sarris: Betts can’t play short. I’ll take XB.
12:10
Eno Sarris: (and I LOVE Betts)
12:11
Comment From Zapp Brannigan Over the next 5 years, who’s better…Harper or Puig?
12:11
Eno Sarris: Puig. I love his opposite field power, I like his swing better, I think he’s better in center, hasn’t had same injury issues.
12:11
Comment From Guest Yan Gomes is the __ best catcher in baseball.
12:13
Eno Sarris: The strikeout rate is creeping up again, the BABIP makes me a little nervous, and I don’t think his framing and blocking skills are elite. Still, by WAR, which doesn’t have some of those things in it, he’s third. I’ll make him a top-five guy. There are some elite framers that are decent otherwise (like Martin and McCann) that might deserve to crowd in with him.
12:13
Comment From Trevor Plouffe I finish the season with 14 HR and 80 RBI, having missed a month with injuries. So why does my name rarely get mentioned as a good fantasy producer? What am I worth in a 2015 AL-only league?
12:14
Eno Sarris: Miguel Sano is the problem. At least in the second half next year. Plus, he’s right-handed, so some of that comes from murdering lefties. But I’ve owned him some and think he’s a great 5-8 buck guy.
12:14
Comment From Double Simcoe When an umpire is consistently calling a wide strike zone (or any other such anomaly) throughout a game — what’s going on there? Is he actually seeing things a different way, or just trolling both teams because he’s bored?
12:14
Eno Sarris: Might be his setup. The closer in he can get, the more space the catcher gives him, the more everything looks like a strike I think.
12:14
Comment From Vslyke What are your expectations of Mike Minor going forward? Worried that his injury history is going to mean we see less of 2013 Minor and more of 2014 Minor.
12:15
Eno Sarris: The homer issues seem legit. I think 4/1.3 with a decent K9 is what I would envelope project for him.
12:15
Comment From Dr. Zizmor Regarding RP ranking heading into 2015 and the application of nonparametric methods of analysis, do you feel the best is Kruskal-Wallis, Wilcoxon, or ppe jopJPOJJ OMG I AM A WEREWOLF
12:15
Comment From John Stamos I want you in my space.
12:15
Comment From a boblowblalawbomb ENO! you’ve gotta step up your baby making music game
Comment From Double Simcoe Will be in Toronto this weekend? Breweries/specific beers that I have to try? I’m familiar with Unibroue so I’d only be interested in beers of theirs that are not commonly available in the States.
Comment From John Do you think the Braves should dump BJ in the offseason or give him a shot next year (like they did with Uggla)? His plate discipline has been much better in the 2nd half of the year.
12:17
Eno Sarris: I think they will end up finding that nobody wants him, even at half price, and maybe penciling him in as the backup CF.
12:17
Comment From Vic Michael Brantley’s 2015 version could be who?
12:18
Eno Sarris: Okay, good K%, some speed, athleticism, power projection.
Comment From Yessir If you had to keep one for next year in standard roto.. A. Garcia or A. Eaton?
12:20
Eno Sarris: Garcia in 5×5. Eaton has OBP skills.
12:20
Comment From Go Yanks Does a baseball player drinking some beer turn you on? Or thats just me?
12:20
Eno Sarris: It’s often bad beer…
12:20
Comment From Hrkac Circus Who is the playoff team this year that every other team wishes they could play? I hate to say it, but is it the A’s?
12:21
Eno Sarris: Giants? I think the A’s pitching is better and I think people tend to gravitate towards the pitching matchups on a nightly basis.
12:21
Comment From Ace Hi Eno! I’m in a situation where I really need to protect ratios, but it’s also imperative that I stream to catch up in strikeouts. It’s slim pickings out there. Would you trust any of these guys?
Buchanan @ PHI; Treinen v. NYM; Lobstein v. MIN; Eovaldi @ WSH; Tropeano @ NYM
12:21
Eno Sarris: Buchanan I actually like. Tropeano a bit, Eovaldi last. If floor is a concern, move Treinen second because of the grounders.
12:22
Comment From Pale Hose Eno takes cold showers in Jamaica.
12:22
Comment From Pale Hose Eno is the most prominent never nude
12:22
Comment From Double Simcoe Eno, join my church! Ludeitarian Ludeiversalists are a very tolerant sect, provided your beliefs exist within an episode, period, or space that generally functions as an intervention, or interspersal
12:22
Eno Sarris: well done.
12:22
Comment From Pale Hose Eno’s high school nickname was Enis the Penis (likely coined by Cistulli)
12:22

12:23
Comment From Miketron how bout some Aphex Twin since he has a new album coming out?
12:23
Comment From hscer did you ever end up doing that duolingo thing
12:23
Eno Sarris: Once again, I will promise myself to work on it this offseason.
12:24
Eno Sarris: By the way, Alberto Balsam is what I wish Brian Eno’s ambient music sounded like.
12:24
Comment From Rated Rookie Taijuan Walker seems to be rewarding everyone who was patient with him, the Mariners especially. What’s your 2015 outlook for him? No. 2/3 fantasy starter?
12:24
Eno Sarris: Three plus pitches by whiff rate, plus velocity, only question is command. Nice home park.
12:24
Comment From jocephus is assistant to the traveling secretary for the mets a good job?
12:25
Eno Sarris: If you do it for the Sox, watch out for Manny.
12:25
Comment From hscer if Hughes’ ERA were his FIP he’d probably also be like 19-8 and gosh the idea of Cy Young winner Phil Hughes…
12:25
Comment From Mix Hi! I’m in a league that allows for three keepers, and I’m VERY fortunate to have several options. We use OBP and SLG instead of AVG and RBIs. Who would you keep from Jose Bautista, Jose Altuve, Anthony Rizzo, Michael Brantley, Andrew McCutchen, Clayton Kershaw, Corey Kluber? I’ll have to try and find people to trade away the other players to, so I really appreciate the feedback. Many thanks!
12:26
Eno Sarris: Cutch because speed with SLG is tough to find. Rizzo because I love him. No pitchers. Altuve I guess, then you can load up on sluggers?
12:26
Comment From Miketron im pretty sure yahoo the yahoo innings limit uses partial innings so he can use a bunch with .1 innings left.
12:26
Comment From Guest The Phil Hughes/$500K bonus situation is pretty good stuff, reminds me of the “19 is not 20, Eddie” line from Comiskey.
12:26
Comment From Billy Beane If Oakland clinches a wildcard spot before Sunday, do they still send out Sonny Gray on the final day of the season?
12:27
Eno Sarris: No and then I won’t have a wild card game to cover. Although it is interesting: The Giant’s and A’s may have a similar issue: play your stud to get home, where you play better (and your opponent is worse in the case of Pirates and the road) or keep the stud for the game? The A’s have more bullets though, and so are likelier to send Gray to get HFA.
12:27
Comment From hscer You should do a German only chat. Sure, only like 3 people would show up, and it can’t possibly be Fangraphs-sanctioned, but why not…I mean, besides those other things
12:28
Comment From The Humber Games While everyone’s focused on the poor choice of having Jeter hitting second all year, what about the Yankees’ cutting of Dean Anna after 25PAs? Anna was projected for 2WAR, Jeter produced -.1, sounds like the difference between no shot and a long shot at a wildcard
12:28
Eno Sarris: Refsnyder at second and Drew at short? It’s okay, what are you going to do? Those guys love tradition.
12:28
Comment From jocephus craig ain’t gonna stick in boston is he?
12:29
Eno Sarris: He’s the one on the outside for me: Cespedes Castillo Betts with Shanf as the fourth guy. Is there room for Craig as OF5/1b2?
12:29
Comment From jocephus i like big betts and i cannot lie
12:29
Comment From Marty Some scotches pair well with moss.
12:29
Eno Sarris: Auto Lagavulin mention. Face full of Moss.
12:29
Comment From Lenard Yelich, Dozier, Betts, Stroman, Bryant, and Mesoraco can all be kept at the same level for the next two years. Which two do you choose? Other relevant info: I am also keeping Stanton and Abreu
12:30
Eno Sarris: Nice. Damn. I’m a little worried about Dozier’s batting average never being better, and as a high ball hitter, he’s dependent on mistakes for power. Makes me want to maybe take Yelich and Betts, with Mesoraco making the choice harder for Betts.
12:30
Comment From hscer I wish to argue with you about your opinion on Harper vis a vis Puig, but I cannot.
12:31
Comment From Ryan Most Reports Ive Seen Dont Give Pompey Much Offensive Potential But The Stroke He Put On His Bomb The Other Night Seemed Solid. Good Lower Half Creating Torque For The Upper Half, Minimal Head Movement, good Bat Speed, And It Seemed RepeatabLe. What Am I Missing
12:31
Eno Sarris: Wel, for one, a good sense of when to capitalize. Even Hunter S Thompson would’ve opted for fewer caps. I do like Pompey, a lot. The only question for me is what time next year he takes a job in that OF. And perhaps the power upside, not the offensive upside.
12:32
Comment From Pale Hose If hypothetical Eno was able to enter enough random public amateur leagues for the law of large numbers to apply, what percentage would he win?
12:33
Eno Sarris: Tough one. Sometimes the cookie crumbles the wrong way. I’m in 12 leagues this year, all sharps. I’m going to win three I think. In one, I’m bottom half, but it’s frigging TOUT and I’m last. Competitive in the rest. I’ll say 60-75%?
12:33
Comment From Shawn The Braves…with our mid market payroll, and the contracts that have really limited our spending for next sending, could trading Kimbrel be an option? Another year of dominance, below market contract for next four years, and demand for certainy in relief seems to make him very attractive. I dont want to give him up, but it seems it may be the most effective way open payroll and get needed pieces.
12:34
Eno Sarris: The old Braves way was to find a closer every year. Al Pena! Kerry Ligtenberg! So if they find an old school Braves Wayer, it’s not crazy.
12:34
Comment From FloMo Would a trade of one year of Boston outfielder Yoenis Cespedes at $10.5 million for one year of Seattle righthander Hisashi Iwakuma at $7 million make sense given the needs and surpluses of each team?
12:34
Eno Sarris: I think the Sawx may trade for a starter, but I think they may use some of their guys like Ranaudo and Barnes to get a younger, more years of cost cotrolled starter.
12:34
Comment From AndrewY How concerning was deGrom’s shoulder tendonitis earlier in the year? Should we be worried his arm will fall off next season?
12:35
Eno Sarris: It’s too bad that he’s now had a major elbow event (TJ) and a minor shoulder event. He has good command and uses a wide array of pitches, and hasn’t thrown as much as other young starters, but he has the injury asterisk because of those two events.
12:35
Comment From Nuke Laloosh 10 team dynasty, roster 30, keep 20. If Buxton stays healthy in the AFL, I’m planning on keeping him. Would keeping Sano, over say Taveras, be a case of keeping too many prospects?
12:36
Eno Sarris: We can’t say everything about Taveras’ future, but we can say that Buxton’s ceiling is probably higher. In a ten teamer, it’s all about ceiling. So that decision is okay for me. Sano has ten-team slugger upside too. You can find relievers and SP4/5s in your ten-round draft.
12:37
Comment From john omg the firestorm Olbermann created by daring to say derek jeter is not a god… seriously, yankees fans are pissed, and some really (typically) rational people defy all logic in their rabid defense of the captain
12:37
Eno Sarris: And yet he was a very good player and probably a deserving Hall of Famer. Just not the top circle HoF that he might seem in the middle of a (deserving!) goodbye year.
12:37
Comment From Guest Should the Pirates do anything to resign Russell Martin
12:38
Eno Sarris: The things he does don’t have great value on the open market, at least not the framing (look at Jose Molina’s deals). I think they’ll keep him.
12:38
Comment From Squints Is it realistic to think that Taveras will take a decent sized step forward next year, or like your cohorts, do you have less and less faith in him with each passing day?
12:38
Eno Sarris: I *squinted* and saw .275/18 in him, maybe with 5 stolen bases and decent defense in the COF. It’s enough to keep him out of real-life bust territory, but fantasy?
12:39
Comment From Miketron who has a better chance of breaking out next year Gausman or Bauer?
12:39
Eno Sarris: Gausman has one good pitch and a history of good command. Bauer has two good pitches and a history of poor command. Both have good velocity. Bauer’s made the adjustment, so I’ll take him. Still waiting for a wrinkle from Gausman.
12:40
Comment From The Real Bob Loblaw SPELL MY NAME CORRECTLY! Bob Loblaw! It’s the BobLoblawLawBomb, check out the details on my BobLoblawLawBlog.
12:40
Comment From Reginald Denton III I know “Latch” got all the pub, but I’m more of a “White Noise” or “Help Me Lose My Mind” guy.
12:40
Comment From hscer using firefox instead of chrome has added a whole hour to my projected battery life. I knew chrome used a lot but wtf google?
12:40
Comment From a boblowblalawbomb next years michael brantley is starling marte!!!
12:41
Eno Sarris: Hmm. Marte had more speed than Brantley ever had and strikes out more. Not sure he has a ton of power upside, but if you talking purely power breakout, I’ll give you a maybe.
12:41
Comment From Fronk Dalton Pompey’s minor league stats look like Jackie Bradley Jr’s and Andrew McCutchen. Where does Pompey fall in the Bradley to McCutchen scale?
12:42
Eno Sarris: Not that close to Bradley, IMO. Better K rates, for one. And hasn’t looked as passive at the plate.
12:42
Comment From guest what do you think the braves could get in trading justin upton?
12:44
Eno Sarris: I mean, I feel like I’m missing the need that these trades will have to remedy. I like their pitching, and they getting more back next year. Their lineup strikes out too much but they have a couple options at second that could improve that, and maybe you could move one of those guys to center. Center and third base aren’t great. I suppose you could target a CF or a 3B, but it’s kinda hard to pry those guys away.
12:44
Comment From AndrewY Jon Niese seems like a guy that should have good trade value. Excellent team-friendly contract, lefty starter, very good first half and not too far removed from some good seasons. Is his injury risk really so great that his trade value has tanked?
12:45
Eno Sarris: Great winter trade guy, when memories of injuries have faded a bit and he seems like a good bet for 180 innings again next year. (I’m trading him if selling Colon/Murphy and spending $15+ m on a COF situation is not working out).
12:45
Comment From Jim Hanley end up back with the Dodgers? Seems like if they do you end up with both him and Seager on the left side in 2016. Considering Seager is not a real SS, that could be ugly right?
12:46
Eno Sarris: Press box talking says Hanley’s gone and signs somewhere to play third. Hilarious, real-life possiblity: Giants get Hanley to play third, Dodgers spend 7 years on Pablo.
12:46
Comment From bill I know you loved kipnis coming into this year…does he scream value pick next year?
12:46
Eno Sarris: To me, yes. The oblique hurt his power. I could still see a baseline projection of .275/15/20 next year, which is great at his position.
12:51
Eno Sarris: Not sure if this question will post — internet issues — but will David Robertson accept a QO? I think they’ll give it to him and that will hurt his free agency status, but there always seems to be a team that’ll pay for a closer (Detroit?).
12:51
Comment From Big Joe Mufferaw Yanks eliminated… Jeter’s final game in the Bronx Tonight.. Whats the best beer to drown my sorrows? Something VERY strong and good.
12:52
Eno Sarris: Allegash Curieux. 11%, available, and it’ll be a curious night.
12:52
Comment From Guest Keeper dilemma: Wilmer Flores or Randal Grichuk? Who you like better next few years?
12:52
Eno Sarris: I’ll take the infielder.
12:53
Comment From beerme Eno, ever try NightShift out of Boston. they have a good local craft Habenero brew! Also, Betts beats Blaylock in the Mook-Off!
12:53
Eno Sarris: Hah, Blaylock was a decent point guard though. I want some Nightshift, we had a great review of it on BeerGraphs.
12:53
Comment From Rated Rookie Maybe that’s because Alberto Balsalm isn’t really ambient music.
12:54
Eno Sarris: Yeah! Maybe I don’t like ambient music! (I definitely don’t like ambient music. Snoozefest.)
12:54
Comment From Vslyke Altuve is a horrible choice over Bautista
12:55
Eno Sarris: Dunno, Bautista is going to be 34 next year and hasn’t stayed healthy recently. I’d project him for about .250/.360/.500 and 28 homers.
12:55
Comment From Miketron Do either David Price or CJ Wilson make another start in the regular season?
12:55
Eno Sarris: Price more likely.
12:55
Comment From neal how does brandon mccarthy finally reaching 200 innings for the first time at the age of 31 make you feel?
12:56
Eno Sarris: I talked to him at beginning of season about that specifically, and he said it was all about bulking up to survive the sloughing off that happens to him over course of season. Said he loses notches on his belt buckle every month. I suppose everyone could try it, but it doesn’t work for everyone the same way.
12:56
Comment From Elijah Will Manny Machado ever play shortstop or has that possibility been erased by the knee injuries?
12:57
Eno Sarris: I’d say it’s out, also because he’s played so long at third, and they’ll probably need to think about ss as an early-season thing either way, so they’ll probably just get an ss.
12:57
Comment From Big Joe Mufferaw Why arent there more failed pitchers who transform themselves into Knuckle Ballers? I know its not that easy, but still, the minors are littered with organizational arms who will never make it.
12:58
Eno Sarris: It’s hard to admit you have to go to a ‘trick’ to make it, I guess. And Wilson told me that everyone in the clubhouse has a knuckler, so not all knucklers are good.
12:58
Comment From Just A Guy What kind of upside does TJ House have? Seems like an extreme ground ball pitcher with his stikeout and walk rates has some potential to be more than the 4th or 5th pitcher many people project for him.
12:58
Eno Sarris: His secondary pitches are good. He’s a soft-tosser, though, so I figure homers on the road could be an issue. Is it okay to call him a 3/4?
12:58
Comment From GSon Zach Walters.. a version of Russell “Paul” Branyon.. or someone who is going to make more contact going forward?
12:59
Eno Sarris: Not a bad goal for Walters, Branyan.
12:59
Comment From Matt How much will you incorporate framing into Lucroy for FanGraphs Player of The Year/NL MVP. If we use BP’s framing stats, he has saved 22 runs, making him worth more than Trout at 8.5 WAR.
12:59
Eno Sarris: I will think about it. He’s in my top three for sure.
12:59
Comment From Brandon You probably don’t remember, but a few months back I asked you about me trading Beckett+Skaggs+Teixeira for Liriano. I went with it against everyone’s advice and I am blown away that it actually worked for me. Who woulda thunk it?
12:59
Eno Sarris: Well done!
12:59
Comment From Marty The chats get weirder as fantasy leagues come to a close. Fantastic.
1:00
Comment From Marty They just put Nats playoff banners up on K Street in DC. That’s gonna be really depressing when they get bounced in the LDS.
1:01
Comment From hscer Olbermann decided he would use Jorge Posada’s answer at a press conference that Jeter was the #1 all time Yankee as the starting point for his rant. Like Posada’s going to say, oh, 5th or 6th? And he deliberated too, obviously aware of the team’s history pre-him/pre-Jeter. After playing the clip, Olbermann went on the list of Yankees he thought were better and named…Mussina? His 8 years with NYY? And Red Ruffing, which was just KO’s way of saying, ” I know baseball history, see!” So I didn’t watch all 7 minutes. I figured I knew what I was getting, having also heard about it for 24 hours beforehand.
1:01
Comment From john oh, im not taking anything away from jeter being a great player, its just hilarious the way yankees fans are reacting… hes not the greatest ever, greatest ever SS, greatest ever yankee, and there is a legitimate argument to be made that he was never even the greatest player on his team
1:01
Comment From Schiraldi Low-amplitude trade ideas: Allen Craig to the Mets for Bartolo Colon.
1:02
Eno Sarris: Hey I like this! Not sure the Sawx do, but they could use a vet in the back, it looks like Craig isn’t going to be super useful. We know the Mets don’t mind ceding defense in certain places.
1:02
Comment From The Oriole Bird If you were the Nats, would you consider sending Stras to the Sox for Mookie? (Dave suggested yesterday that this would be the kind of value hypothetically required by the Sox.)
1:02
Eno Sarris: I mean, just looking at the Nationals, not sure it makes sense. They need their ace.
1:03
Comment From Zapp Brannigan Do the Cubs make a big move for either Scherzer or Lester, or do they wait another year before splashing the FA pool for pitching?
1:03
Eno Sarris: What about a younger japanese pitcher like Maeda?
1:03
Comment From You Cannot Fight in Here, This Is the WAR Room How many werewolves are in an average Eno chat?
1:03
Eno Sarris: Well if you count the airspeed velocity of a swallow and then multiply that by xFIP gaGAWERAWE Aaw 4earw34 IOM A WEREWOLF
1:04
Comment From Marty Next year’s ranks: Alex Wood, Jacob deGrom, Pineda.
1:04
Eno Sarris: deGrom Wood Pineda. I like them all, but Pineda’s innings will be lowest number in the set.
1:04
Comment From dutchbrowncoat have you heard of / seen any research on umpire performance based on pitcher arm slot? it seems that pitchers who throw across their body or use a strange arm slot can gain some level of advantage on the hitter, but if the hitter has a harder time seeing it than the ump might too.
1:04
Eno Sarris: Love it.
1:05
Eno Sarris: (but arm slot is tough because it’s not a release point thing you can do, it’s almost something you have to use video for)
1:05
Comment From Ron Jeremy Hey, Enoooooooooo. Come over here and give daddy a hug. Btw, where do you expect Yosmany Tomas to sign?
1:06
Eno Sarris: If only the Mets could get the okay, contingent on getting rid of Bartolo and Murphy, it might make the most sense for them. They need a young infusion of major-league ready COF talent.
1:06
Comment From Ron Jeremy Boneshaker is the BOMB! I live in the area, and it is awesome
1:06
Comment From Terrible Ted Girlfriend goes on birth control to clear up acne. Today is a good day.
1:06
Comment From Dustin Polokaniszky Is it normal that I always follow your chats in the nude?
1:07
Eno Sarris: Okay that was a new peak weirdness, really great you guys.
1:07
Comment From Dustin Polokaniszky Rob Refsnyder. Aaron Hill 2.0?
1:07
Eno Sarris: Supposedly his defense is bad. I dunno. He should’ve been up this year is my only worry.
1:08
Comment From Dustin Polokaniszky What to make of this Vargas jerk in Minny? Is he any good going forward?
1:08
Eno Sarris: I think he could be a major league quality bat, but he’s not an OF. So where does he play?
1:08
Comment From Elijah Matt Kemp is a top ___ fantatsy hitter in 2015.
1:09
Eno Sarris: To be safer, I’d project him for about .275/20/5. (not 650 PA). So that strikes me as a n OF2/3, and probably in the top 100 if barely.
1:09
Comment From Bill Any suggestions for looking at the data from this years league results, and using it to formulate a plan for next year? I ended up with a lot of players who were great in real life, but not so great in fantasy.
1:10
Eno Sarris: Look up Standing Gains Points and Jeff Zimmerman.
1:10
Comment From Doctor Bandwith Eno! H2H final and I feel like I’m going to have a panic attack. All 5 off cats are a toss up. Assuming all these guys play and pitching matchups are somewhat equal, which 4 should I be starting out of heyward, de aza, ryan zimm, pearce, cuddyer, blackmon and gordon? Any obvious must starts, for example cuddyer against lefties?
1:11
Eno Sarris: Blackmon at home versus righties, Pearce versus lefties, deaza versus righties are all great matchups, with Cuddyer versus lefties i there. Otherwise, I’d probably just start Gordon and Heyward, unless they got crowded out by all the other matchups.
1:11
Comment From Ben SEVEN YEARS for Pablo Sandoval? Please tell me you’re kidding.
1:12
Eno Sarris: Not that I’m giving him seven years, or even six. But he’s young-ish and it’s possible. I doubt the Giants give him five even.
1:12
Comment From Jim No way Dodgers sign Pablo long term to play 3rd with Seager waiting in the wings. Unless you think Seager is a real SS?
1:12
Eno Sarris: They playing Hanley at short so
1:12
Comment From Guest Top Gun is the greatest movie of all time…. that is all.
1:12
Comment From 1990JaromirJagr I compared Jeter to Alan Trammal and was appalled that they were like..the same player. SO sick of the jeter tour crap
1:12
Comment From Weatherman So they’re expecting lots of rain in New York today. Would they still consider postponing a game at this point in the season, especially since Baltimore is heading out to Toronto after the game?
1:13
Eno Sarris: They might not even play the game if they postpone it.
1:13
Comment From Terrible Ted Mesoraco>Santana next year?
1:13
Eno Sarris: F it. Yes. I loved Mes going in but I didn’t pimp him hard enough as a mixed league option. So let’s go all in.
1:13
Comment From hscer Funny you say that, because that’s the exact purpose I use ambient music for–helping me sleep at night. Which it actually does.
1:13
Comment From Gila Monster The thing that is worrisome about Altuve is that he isn’t terribly fast, just a great baserunner. Have to worry that the steals could fall off.
1:14
Eno Sarris: Yes and steals do age poorly. I’m not saying Bautista wasn’t right there, but I like getting a second baseman, even with some regression.
1:14
Comment From Gila Monster Where DOES HanRam go? Yankees make sense depending on the A-Rod situation. Red Sox make sense depending on plans for Cechinni. Dodgers still make sense
1:14
Eno Sarris: Yeah but they have have soured on him because of his in and out of lineup stuff.
1:14
Comment From Quadrangular Back to Derek Jeter’s endless final season. The next logical step would be to take the farewell tour to Broadway, right? Nathan Lane could play a young(er) Joe Torre and Hugh Jackman could play Mariano Rivera…
1:15
Comment From klof is there something stopping utility guys from performing if given more of a chance? justin turner playing every day would be great, yeah?
1:15
Eno Sarris: Usually a guy like that is being used in the best situations. So, for example, Turner is playing mostly against lefties. He’s a righty. So if he starts playing against righties, you’ll see more of the true talent Turner, which is probably not an everyday starter. (Definitely not, really.)
1:15
Comment From Compton Is playing Roxette in the clubhouse contributing to the A’s decline? Can’t think that could be helping in the slightest.
1:16
Eno Sarris: Oh is the audio of the Moss thing up? Awesome.
1:16
Comment From hscer Nats won’t get bounced in the LDS for one reason: Bryce Harper is a Mormon.
1:16
Comment From klof what year would you have moved jeter off SS if you were yankee manager?
1:16
Eno Sarris: When A-Rod first came to the team?
1:16
Comment From mhm keep yelich as a 22nd rounder for 2 more years, kluber as a 14th for 2 more years, freeman as a 7th for 1 more year, baez as a 12th for 2 more
1:16
Eno Sarris: I think I like Yelich here. That’s a lot of value. Position player. Lower bust rate than Baez.
1:17
Comment From klof would there be any advantage for an ump to set up over the catcher’s outer shoulder instead of the shoulder closest to the batter?
1:17
Eno Sarris: He’d lose the inside corner I think.
1:17
Comment From Rob Thoughts on Bill Simmons getting suspended for saying what everyone else believes?
1:18
Eno Sarris: He made a big show of it, but you know what, I think it was worth it. Of course a rights holder suspended him though. They have NFL games on that network!
1:18
Comment From hscer an unladen swallow. and it is African or European?
1:18
Eno Sarris: I tied a pilsner to him so both questions answered.
1:18
Comment From zurzles has Goldschmidt’s 2015 value taken a hit because of the injury? is he a top 5 guy?
1:18
Eno Sarris: No hit from me.
1:18
Comment From Matt Damon MATT. DAMON.
1:18
Comment From Reginald Denton III Why are people having such a hard time grasping the fact that intangibles were a big part of how great Jeter was? And intangibles play a HUGE part in a player’s popularity (just like they do in most celebrities’ popularity).
1:19
Eno Sarris: We don’t know how to measure them, so mostly we throw them out of our calculations.
1:19
Comment From Vslyke Re: J-Up question. HE and Heyward are both FAs after next season and the Braves are unlikely to re-sign both.
1:19
Eno Sarris: Sure, but you think this team is now completely broken a year after they won 96?
1:20
VideoStauber:
1:20
Comment From Art Vandelay What do you have against Yes, Eno?
1:20
Eno Sarris: Nothing.
1:21
Comment From Hrkac Circus The Twins claim they’ll make another run at starting pitching this offseason. Can you think of any realistic targets? I’m fully prepared for the underwhelming names I’m about to hear.
1:22
Eno Sarris: Francisco Liriano? Hahahahaa. Gavin Floyd? Brandon McCarthy?
1:22
Comment From Alan Thanks for the Jimmy Rollins piece – think he gets back in this weekend?
1:22
Eno Sarris: Needs to do more Yoga! I bet not.
1:23
Comment From Seabass Can’t we just all agree?
1:23
Comment From Marty My god, we are in mid-february form already….
1:23
Comment From klof O GOD CURIEUX IS SO GOOD
1:23
Comment From Art Vandelay Four games in two days! How many do you think Rendon and Ramos will play in? One each day?
1:23
Eno Sarris: Good guess.
1:23
Comment From Bill How do you approach streaming starters throughout the season? I wanted to leave a roster spot open all year and just pick good matchups if possible. I’m in a Wins league, so it seemed like a good idea.
1:24
Eno Sarris: I usually only do it in H2H, and even then, I usually find a guy I want to keep, try to sell a starter in a two for one and then keep going.
1:24
Comment From Art Vandelay Don’t the Rockies finish in LA? I think they’re done at Coors.
1:25
Eno Sarris: Blackmon vs righties on the road is still his fifth-best option probably, maybe fourth-best on a bad day.
1:25
Comment From The Oriole Bird Per MLB Network yesterday, MLB announced that they wouldn’t make up today’s Yanks game if it gets postponed, unless the makeup could affect Baltimore’s playoff seed.
1:25
Comment From Rated Rookie
1:25
Comment From Marty Top Gun is the sweatiest movie of all time. FTFY.
1:26
Comment From Bill Actually, Jackman would be a poor choice, because Mariano’s cutter is the only known force in the world that can break adamantium.
1:26
Comment From Bil Who would you have rather built a team around, Jeter or Chipper?
1:27
Eno Sarris: Probably take the shortstop. It’s how I’ve tried to build fantasy teams too. But I really like Chipper’s bat. Switch hitter with power and patience, great player.
1:27
Comment From Marty I support Bill Simmons. I also think if it weren’t for sports he would be the day manager at a Worcester strip club.
1:27
Comment From Ryan I’m listening to you on a podcast while reading stuff in your chat. META!
1:27
Comment From CMG8462 Somehow stumbled on Wilmer Flores Z&O contact rates since he’s been the “full time” shortstop. He’s at 90% for both.. Is there anyone outside of a juan pierre type who does that? I feel like that’s incredibly uncommon especially with his ISO potential.
1:28
Eno Sarris: Yeah but O-contact dives quickly. It’s a good sign for his over all contact, but not sure how it will age.
1:28
Comment From throneberry fields forever Eno, could you please rank your faves for next season: Stroman, Paxton, Pomeranz, Norris, Urias
1:28
Eno Sarris: I’ll move Norris ahead of Pomeranz and keep it that way.
1:28
Comment From hscer btw Eno nice job going with the Braves in the NLE in 2013 and making the switch in 2014
1:28
Eno Sarris: It’s all a game of darts.
1:29
Comment From Alex Sometimes, in the dark of night, I like to shout “BANANA HAMMOCK”
1:29
Comment From 1990JaromirJagr re: broadway tour- Robert Deniro for Joe torre, and vin Diesel for Mariano
1:29
Eno Sarris: Vin Diesel for Mariano shaking my damn head. Has to have some class.
1:29
Comment From Compton Who do you like in a Cole v Bumgarner wildcard showdown?
1:29
Eno Sarris: The audience.
1:29
Comment From Bil Is Bobby Abreu one of the more underrated players ever?
1:30
Eno Sarris: Yes that bad body hid a great approach.
1:30
Comment From Bubba Better keeper in an OPS league, Seager or Frasier? Not sure if I expect Frasier to keep stealing 20 bases.
1:30
Eno Sarris: I think I like Seager.
1:30
Comment From Alex You streaming Norris today against the M’s?
1:30
Eno Sarris: yes
1:30
Comment From Rated Rookie I’m having a beef patty for lunch (from the Royal Caribbean bakery in Atlanta).
1:30
Eno Sarris: GIMME
1:30
Comment From concerned citizen How do you try to regulate games played at the different positions through out the year? I tried to keep the estimate close all year and now am going to be short at a couple spots.
1:31
Eno Sarris: With a short bench, if I like the guys on my bench, I push them in as much as possible. I hate being short.
1:31
Comment From Steve Sorry I’m late. Just finished the boil on our IPA.. 32 North is coming along!
1:31
Eno Sarris: NEW BEER
1:31
Comment From klof Going to get a growler of Russian River beer for the wine bus at my sister in law’s wedding in Sonoma next month since I don’t enjoy wine nearly as much as beer. What RR should I get a growler of? Elder being the obvious choice. What else shouldn’t I miss?
1:32
Eno Sarris: Hmm they won’t let you get growlers of everything, but if you can get your hands on some Consecration or Sanctification if you like sours, do it.
1:32
Comment From hscer isn’t chipper’s career war like 10-15 higher than jeter’s?
1:32
Eno Sarris: 10. But over the course of 20 seasons…
1:33
Comment From Vslyke I don’t think the Braves are completely broken but good luck convincing most fans after our brutal September.
1:33
Eno Sarris: Yeah they may have to make a splash, especially with Cobb coming.
1:33
Comment From 1990JaromirJagr JAROMIR MULLET > MATT> DAMON.
1:33
Comment From klof My five outfielders for next season: Stanton, Puig, Yelich, Marte, TBD. This will only get better?
1:33
Eno Sarris: Yes.
1:33
Comment From jocephus peter dinklage should play cashman
1:33
Comment From Joe What do you expect from A-Rod next season, assuming he plays and stays relatively healthy?
1:34
Eno Sarris: .250/18 and 450 PA
1:34
Comment From Syed Is Arrieta as good as he has been this year? Advanced number all look like they are sustainable… is he really a top 20 pitcher in baseball?
1:34
Eno Sarris: Only thing I worry about is health with all those sliders and some past health issues.
1:34
Comment From Guapo I was on the fence with my kegerator choice until I saw you liked Dirtwolf. Nice call. Also, when will you join Carson on a podcast?
1:34
Eno Sarris: Right. Now.
1:34
Comment From Rated Rookie Have you ever been to Mandeville? Kingston gets all the press, but the mountains are where it’s at.
1:35
Eno Sarris: Of course! Been to the top of the mountains a few times.
1:35
Comment From jocephus will FG pay me to write up weedgraphs?
1:35
Eno Sarris: step one: data stream.
1:35
Comment From JMo Eno: What do you expect from Harvey in 2015? IS there a set innings limit for a TJS pitcher in the first year?
1:35
Eno Sarris: No, that’s harder to figure out. Maybe 160 IP or something?
1:36
Comment From zurzles what about buttgraphs, i’m real smart about those
1:36
Eno Sarris: We like big data and we cannot lie.
1:36
Comment From Bumble Believer Odd how the once-great but now spiraling A’s are facing the once-horrible but now hottest team in the league Rangers.
1:36
Eno Sarris: Which is why the schedule game never works.
1:36
Comment From Syed Do you think it would be wise for the Cubs to lock up Arrieta, if so how much would he get? They have him for 2 more arb years already
1:37
Eno Sarris: Given how I feel about his injury history, no.
1:37
Comment From 1990JaromirJagr Jack Black as Nick Swisher.
1:37
Eno Sarris: oh my god yes
1:37
Comment From Marty It’s gonna be hilarious when the a’s make it to the World Series. Where’s your Cespedes narrative now haters!!
1:37
Eno Sarris: Someone asked me for my world series pick recently and I said A’s Nationals because don’t bother me.
1:38
Comment From Mike Under-the-radar fantasy catcher for next year? With eligibility loss of Mauer/Santana it seems to be weak and getting weaker
1:38
Eno Sarris: Wieters? Deeper? Grandal?
1:38
Comment From Ryan Madonna As A-Rod
1:38
Comment From Reginald Denton III Does Angel Pagan really impact the Giants that much? They’re like 20 games over .500 with him, under .500 without him.
1:39
Eno Sarris: Sometimes that’s just how the team was going, not my favorite stat. Blanco’s probably better as a fourth guy, but Pagan to Blanco would be okay if Morse was healthy and could hit some.
1:39
Comment From throneberry fields forever Grandal! If he can bring his OBP back up!
1:40
Eno Sarris: He fits the Mesoraco call.
1:40
Comment From Will what tips do you have for someone trying to get over nerves when conducting interviews?
1:41
Eno Sarris: If you can practice on someone, do it. Even in the situation. Like I talked to a bunch of relievers before I talked to Brandon Belt on my first day with the Giants. George Kontos! Thank you for breaking me in.
1:41
Comment From Marty Do you have any shirseys? Favs?
1:42
Eno Sarris: 1) I haven’t bought clothing since my son was born, with the exception of a suit and two pairs of jeans. 2) I don’t own any jerseys other than my softball one (Thompson Twins, with Eno on the back, in royal blue). 3) It would have to be ironic.
1:42
Comment From Guest Will the Thrill Clark
1:42
Eno Sarris: just… cause?
1:43
Comment From Rated Rookie Keep/discard which of these OFs for 2015: Myers, Polanco, Taveras. (16 keepers, keep-forever with players kept slotting in the first 16-draft picks.)
1:43
Eno Sarris: If you have to discard one, Taveras. Myers has shown 28 HR type upside, and Polanco’s “bad” debut was better than Taveras’.
1:43
Comment From Nate Is Anthony Rizzo an MVP candidate in the years to come? Yahoo sports gave him some love this year.
1:43
Eno Sarris: Hey! I said he’d be a top-three first baseman going into the season!
1:44
Comment From Zapp Brannigan Shirseys are an abomination unto mankind. Buy a t-shirt or buy a jersey.
1:44
Eno Sarris: yeah but maybe something like a Piazza Marlins shirsey would make sense.
1:44
Comment From John Are Javy Baez’s issues fixable? Or is he doomed
1:44
Comment From Alex I traded Baez and Taveras for Bryce Harper earlier this year. Feeling pretty good.
1:45
Eno Sarris: Baez is young enough and the sample is small enough that he could still get back to 30% whiffs and use his defense to make a .225/.305/.430 line work. (just spitballing)
1:45
Comment From zurzles buy jeans or buy leggings eno. enough with the jeggings.
1:45
Comment From Guest Grown men wearing game jerseys look ridiculous.
1:46
Comment From hscer Technically, the actual players are also grown men. I guess for them it becomes an age thing, i.e., managers wear something else already.
1:46
Eno Sarris: Oh god Bobby Cox in a uniform hobbling to the mound.
1:46
Comment From mcgolfin Who can the Indians get in the offseason to push them over the hump? Or do we just have to hope that Swisher can do something because “we can’t raise payroll because attendance is bad”
1:47
Eno Sarris: Not obvious to me what they do, which I think is a good sign. With Ramsey, they have an interesting outfielder coming. With Lindor coming, they could move Chisenhall or Kipnis to the OF. The rotation looks nice. I bet they work on the fringes. Hopefully find an Axford type that works. Maybe get a Colon type (not suggesting a trade).
1:48
Comment From jocephus

1:48
Comment From Rated Rookie Dusty Baker wearing sweatbands might have been the most offensive managerial sartorial offense.
1:48
Eno Sarris: I think my bladder may explode.
1:48
Eno Sarris: I gotta go. Thanks guys!
1:49
Comment From Fronk noooooooooooooooo
