Does the encoding really need to be as high quality as it is and has been? 128kbps stereo, for a podcast? A podcast with undeniably makeshift production values in studio and wanton disregard for sound quality from the callers. I love the content, and I don’t mean to rag on how it sounds, other than to point up how a much lower fidelity encoding would be sufficient.

And I know it sounds absurd to moan about file size, but sometimes the bandwidth isn’t there…
