I don’t think the White Sox would offer arbitration to Manny Ramirez because (I believe) a baseball arbitrator can’t aware anything less than 80% times the prior year salary, which is still higher than Ramirez’ perceived market value.
That 80% limit doesn’t apply to any player who has 6+ years of service time. Given his service time, the White Sox could offer Manny a cut significantly greater than 20% of his current salary.
