Job Posting: Atlanta Braves Major League Advance Scout Trainee

Position: Atlanta Braves Major League Advance Scout Trainee

Location: Atlanta

Description:
Analyze and communicate relevant performance trends and tendencies of opponents for the Major League coaching staff and roster. Travel on all team road trips to provide support on a series-to-series and game-to-game basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Synthesize data, analysis and relevant scouting reports for coaching staff in a timely manner.
  • Create individualized materials for players and coaching staff to aid in their game preparation.
  • Prepare targeted reports for series advance meetings.
  • Handle short-term and in-game requests from players and coaching staff.
  • Work with Baseball Operations team in providing information to Major League staff and players.

Qualifications:

  • Strong foundation in the application of statistical concepts to baseball data and the translation of data into useable scouting information.
  • An active listener – ability to quickly discern the information needs of coaching staff and players.
  • Experience producing a reliable work product under stressful circumstances.
  • Experience working with individuals of a wide variety of backgrounds and beliefs.
  • Demonstrated track record in role as a self-starter.
  • Ability to work extensive hours as dictated by the Major League season schedule (including weekends and holidays throughout the season).
  • Experience working in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Preferred: Professional/collegiate playing experience.
  • Must be detail oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere and handle multiple projects at one time.
  • Must complete a successful background check.

Not included in the Job description:
Ability to keep one’s mouth shut regarding extra payments to international prospects.
Willingness to fall on the sword to insulate higher levels of management.
Creative Accounting techniques considered a bonus.
