Correction
Yesterday, while reviewing five recent moves of not no consequence, I omitted the recent acquisition by Boston of Colorado infielder Brad Emaus. The Emaus move is decidedly less inconsequential than the one by the Brewers including Jeff Bianchi. (H/T hawk-eyed reader BoSoxFan).

Reynolds to Play Third — and Davis, First — Base for Baltimore
Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter told MLB.com’s Brittany Ghiroli earlier this week that he believes the club is strongest with Mark Reynolds at third base and Chris Davis at first. Reynolds has posted about a -25 UZR at third base (for an even less appealing -30 UZR/150 or so) over the last three seasons. The newest edition of the Fans Scouting Report has Reynolds at -12 fielding runs for 2011 and -13 for the last three seasons combined. Davis, meanwhile, enters his age-26 season having posted a 90 wRC+ in 1082 career plate appearances — including an 89 wRC+ in 2011 despite a .366 BABIP. In summary: Buck Showalter knows a lot about baseball; however, it will be surprising if his propsosed arrangement is actually the most productive one for the O’s. More interesting — if not definitively more productive — would be a platoon of Matt Antonelli and Ryan Flaherty at third with Reynolds at first. Says this guy, at least.

Parra Still a Baseball Pitcher
According to MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy, the Milwaukee Brewers and left-hander Manny Parra agreed to a one-year deal Thursday, both (a) avoiding arbitration and (b) reminding all of us that Manny Parra is a baseball pitcher. Parra didn’t pitch in 2011 owing to injuries. Of the 2200-plus pitchers to throw more than 400 career innings since 1900, Parra has the highest BABIP-allowed, at .336.
