Contract Crowdsourcing 2014-15: Day 5 of 10

Free agency begins five days after the end of the World Series. As in other recent offseasons, FanGraphs is once again facilitating this offseason a contract-crowdsourcing project, the idea being to harness the wisdom of the crowds to the end of better understanding the 2014-15 free-agent market.

Below are links to ballots for a collection of immobile DH-types and also Ichiro Suzuki.

Other Players: Nori Aoki / Emilio Bonifacio / Asdrubal Cabrera / Melky Cabrera / Nelson Cruz / Michael Cuddyer / Chase Headley / Torii Hunter / Adam LaRoche / Jed Lowrie / Nick Markakis / Russell Martin / Michael Morse / Aramis Ramirez / Hanley Ramirez / Colby Rasmus / Mark Reynolds / Alex Rios / Pablo Sandoval / Chris Young (OF).

So I can’t vote that I think Suzuki won’t get an offer from anybody? I think he’s done.

When life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade! Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn lemons! What am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Ichiro Suzuki lemons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man whose gonna burn your house down – with the lemons!

He’ll end up somewhere. The question is how low his salary will go. With just ~150 hits to 3000, he’ll play for league minimum if that is what it takes, probably. So it’s just how much teams will bid up beyond that to make the offer look at least reputable.
