Live from the Winter Meetings, Day 1
Baseball’s Winter Meetings begin in earnest today from Nashville’s giant Opryland Resort, at which Resort the author — along with several other members of Team FanGraphs — will be embedded to better network with people who might eventually help their careers cover the big, breaking stories as they happen.
Colleagues Dave Cameron and Jeff Sullivan — from which pair (among other assorted and notable personages) I will likely be publishing some audio today — both suggest that, among those deals that might be made this week, is the possible signing (by the Angels, Dodgers, or Rangers) of right-hander Zack Greinke. Said possible signing of Greinke would be significant not for its own sake, but also for the extent to which it would establish the market for other free agent pitchers Anibal Sanchez, Ryan Dempster, etc.
Sightings at the Winter Meetings
As of Monday morning at ca. 10am ET the author has only seen one person — that is, FanGraphs contributor and RotoGraphs editor Eno Sarris coming out of the bathroom.
