Thoughts on Alcantara and Enrique Hernandez in super deep dynasty?

Is there any statistical impact on wearing batting gloves as opposed to those that don’t?

What would you recommend for an Opening Day beer – to enjoy at home while watching the first game of the season? something unique or safely excellent?

12:03
Eno Sarris: Probably safely excellent because it’s more about the beer that day.

12:03
Comment From hscer
that your picture or just an exceedingly fitting stock image?

12:04
Eno Sarris: took it myself at my local

12:04
Comment From Patrick Enas
Are you buying Joey Votto next year?

12:05
Eno Sarris: I’ll take the over on his projected runs and RBI, but that will depend a little on Jay Bruce and Marlon Byrd. Which is a little iffy, but I do have some love for Bruce. I think it was the knee. And the quad in Votto’s case.

12:05
Comment From Boss
Are you jealous about all the attention Dave’s new baby is getting? Maybe you should get off your butt and go make another baby!

12:06
Eno Sarris: A third? No, dude, no. Not now at least.

12:06
Comment From Darth Stout
Who to keep of Oso Blaco or Yan Gomes? The money is negligible and the scoring is Otto.

12:07
Eno Sarris: goin’ with gomes because I think he’ll get on base more, only hit a couple fewer homers.

I’m going to be traveling to Columbus OH at the end of the month for a concert and I am hoping to get my hands on some beers that aren’t available in PA. Anyone know places where I can get 3 Floyds or other wonderful beers? West Coast IPAs?

12:07
Eno Sarris: Maybe we can help.

12:07
Comment From American League Hustle
I’m starting to prepare for my AL-only league auction, and have come to realize that based on those likely to be kept, 3B will be a barren wasteland. Thus I ask you, is there any chance that Trevor Plouffe could provide sneaky good value next year? I recognize that Sano is potentially on the horizon, but that could take awhile and Plouffe did put up 14 HR/80 RBI last year. Help me, Eno!!!

12:09
Eno Sarris: Only problem with Plouffe has been his platoon split really. He’s been bad against righties. But last year he finally had an above-average walk rate, average strikeout rate, and average power against right-handers. First time he did that. I’d believe his projections, and maybe even tick it a little forward. But at 28, there’s not much room left.

12:09
Comment From CecilFieldersButtPlug
i ve never had a dopplebock before and tried the flying dog one. not a big fan.

12:09

12:10
Comment From Harry Porter and the Voldemalts
ENOOOOOO! How come there is never any national love for NC beer besides Hop, Drop and Roll? I mean its good but Asheville is the hot spot for tasty brews!

12:11
Eno Sarris: Wicked Weed is great. I like Foothills myself even if it’s not Asheville. I visited recently and enjoyed all of my beer. Local beer bar had Victory specials and Terrapin specials. Nice place. I think the answer, as usual, is distribution.

12:11
Comment From BEER BARON
Chances Kang signs with the Bucs? Any fantasy value?

12:12
Eno Sarris: I think it’s high. I was talking with a talent evaluator I trust and he’s big on Kang. Thinks the power will translate. The leg kick might make whiffs, but if the power comes over… he’ll be very useful. I think he’s fringe mixed league last round material at this point. Projections are almost useless given sample size of hitters that have played in both leagues, but the pitchers that have done so do help.

12:12
Comment From CecilFieldersButtPlug
have you ever had einstock wit? Iceland can brew some beer! it was spectacularly smooth like a ken griffey jr swing.

12:12
Eno Sarris: Super easy to drink.

12:12
Comment From Miketron
So my wife got me a bunch of different beers for Xmas. One had “Brett”, which basically makes the beer taste like a barnyard? I think its the most awful beer I’ve ever had.

12:13
Eno Sarris: Don’t drink saisons then. Or Brett IPAs. I love that taste, and yes it’s described as a barnyard funk, but if you don’t, that’s fine. I don’t love the Belgian yeasts in Dubbels and Tripels.

12:13
Comment From Art Vandelay
Please Ichiro go to the Marlins, they would instantly become the most fun team to watch next year.

Comment From PrettyRickey
So where does Zobrist end up? Top suitors seem to be Angels, Cubs, Giants, and Nationals. Think they can get a couple top 100 guys?

12:16
Eno Sarris: I don’t even know if the Giants have two top 100 guys. Angels too. Angels and Giants go for it, though, and both have a need where he could probably play. He might be wasted in the outfield, though, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Giants were secretly in on Scherzer. Angels too actually. I’m going to guess the Nationals, who have the best assets.

12:16
Eno Sarris: Sexy talk about the Nationals.

12:16
Comment From Brad
Tell Michael Salfino to stop being so hard headed.

12:16
Comment From Los
Interesting discussion with Salfino last night. You guys are totally right in using the % instead of the /ip. One question of his that I would like answered, how do you explain what (k%-bb%) means in one sentence.

12:18
Eno Sarris: A pitchers’ strikeout percentage minus his walk percentage? I’ve just been referring to it as strikeout minus walk percentage. Sometimes I get insular and we talk to each other and I forget about the big wild world, but that implies the denominator is batters faced. I could add as sentence like “Batters faced is a better judge of a pitchers’ true talent because innings can be extended by walks.” or something. Sometimes you just use a thing long enough and people get it. And all I’m trying to do is get it right.

Why the negative tweets about Raines Vote total on Tuesday. He had a nice bump and is looking good for 2017

12:19
Eno Sarris: Just nervous about the fact that he only has two years left. Yes, normally people with 50+% get in, but normally people had 15 years. He only gets ten.

12:20
Eno Sarris: with two kids. Might get more travel in coming years though. BeerGraphs needs to give me a budget.

12:20
Comment From Curtis
Will we see 20 starts form Marco Gonzales in 2015? or will it have to be in another uniform for that to happen?

12:21
Eno Sarris: Comfortably sixth, but I’m a little nervous about Adam Wainwright’s health. He’s out of the Tommy John honeymoon window and he’s just had surgery. C-Mart’s platoon splits may end up torpedoing him, too, even though I love C-Mart.

12:21
Eno Sarris: He deserves a better nickname.

12:22
Comment From Jim
Justin Upton’s move to Petco reduces his power potential. Would you rather have Jups or Y.Cespedes for 2015?

12:23
Eno Sarris: Cespedes also not in a *great* hitters park. If exact same price, I take Upton. He hits moon shots, I think he could do better than 23 projected homers. It’s really close on projections. But if price is vastly different — and it has been in drafts I’ve seen — then I’ll take Yoenis and the extra cash.

12:23
Comment From Ryan
Noticing a lot of Cardinals players (Wong, Carpenter, Molina, Adams) getting meh projections compared to where they’ll likely be drafted this year. Is this the Cardinals “clutch factor” at work? Everyone expects more R/RBI than can reasonably be projected?

12:24
Eno Sarris: The runs and RBI thing is interesting. Steamer’s consistently come up low for me. Carpenter, for instance. 126 runs, 99 last year, projected for 81. But it’s systematic, so if you start changing pieces, you’ll throw the whole thing off.

12:24
Comment From Jim
Thoughts on the New England Brewery Co.’s Ghadi-Bot name fiasco? Think they will have to end up changing the name? I can’t cant a hold of it anywhere in CT right now.

12:24
Eno Sarris: Never had it. Would be a shame if they had to change, though, because it’s a top top beer.

12:25
Comment From Boss
So I went and saw Mike Love and the Beach Boys last night and they had a special guest….none else but Uncle f’ing Jessie!! Stamos ran around the stag all night playing every instrument from guitar, drums, and bongos. Even sang a song called “Fovever” from Full House that Carl Wilson wrote. Im 30 but I felt like a kid all over again.

12:25
Eno Sarris: Pretty cool.

12:26
Comment From STiVo
How many $ do you value Le Mookie at for 2015?

12:27

Comment From Bruce
Ill be in SF with 2 small kids for 3 days in March. Wheres the best part of town to stay to be able to get around, to kids stuff, and do beer stuff on my own.

12:29
Eno Sarris: Ooh tough one. SOMA has Cellarmaker and City Beer Store within blocks of each other, but not great for kids. I guess you could stay near downtown and the kids could do MoMA, the big movie/games center (Sony? I think that’s it), Yerba Buena, the waterfront. You could head to SOMA for those two. I can’t think of stuff for kids in the mission, which is all burritos and pho and cool shops with handmade hipstery stuff. Good beer there, though.

Comment From lunch
it’s weird to say, but as a braves fan i’m jealous of the padres’ offseason. isn’t kind of a crazy / possibly dumb plan to go for it more fun than rebuilding? especially seemingly dumb rebuilding. i want dumb fun moves, not dumb seemingly responsible moves.

12:31
Eno Sarris: Both changed GMs. One came in and said screw all these prospects, I’m trading them for win now while I find my own prospects. The other said screw all these players I’m going to trade them for young players I like. I will say, though, with offense down, I’ll take more offense on my team and find the pitching.

12:31
Comment From RotoLando
At the top of the hour, start reading the bototm of the chatbox

12:31
Eno Sarris: Hey I used the legacy code. Is this still a problem?

12:31
Comment From Rick
Have you had the chance to get to former Oriole closer Chris Ray’s brewery (Center of the Universe) just outside Richmond? It might be a chance for a FanGraphs/BeerGraphs fusion field trip.

12:31
Eno Sarris: I said some stupid snarky thing about Chris Ray and someone pointed that out and I felt bad because dude’s a person and he might have good beer.

12:32
Comment From Vil B.
Eno: are you as big on Dickerson of the Rockies as Podz? Would you trade Cespedes for him in a keeper pts. league? (Low deduction for K’s, .8 for BB, neither has great numbers in this regard.) It seems like Cespedes’ best years are behind him and Dickerson’s are yet to come. And there’s that ridiculous ballpark too. Thanks.

12:32
Eno Sarris: Yeah I’d do that.

12:32
Comment From Nelson
Whats your favorite beer bar in SF?

12:32
Eno Sarris: City Beer Store. Because you can take some home with you, and the taps are awesome. But Toronado’s is classic, smells like a biker’s armpit, has great sausages next door, and a bigger tap list. Usually has Alpine Nelson too. so 1 and 1a.

12:33
Comment From Hoff
Can you please explain why writers voted for guys like Erstad, Percival, and Aaron Boone this year when the ballot was so loaded with talent?

12:33
Eno Sarris: They covered the dudes, I guess.

I have an Uncle flying in from AZ next month. Any beers I should ask him to bring me (I love in CT)

12:35
Eno Sarris: not the biggest fan of AZ beers. If he can get a stout from Arizona Wildnerness… SanTan and Four Peaks are only okay to me, but he can find them. Maybe the Double Knot or Kilt Lifter from Four Peaks.

12:36
Comment From CecilFieldersButtPlug
WOOOweeeeee. I am exhausted from all this over use lately! Tell Cecil to relax.

12:36
Comment From Curtis
Zach Walters defense good enough for him to get enough time to hit 20HRs?

12:37
Eno Sarris: I doubt it, but he’s not listed on our depth chart at third base, and Lonnie Chisenhall has some give to him. Was Walters’ arm the problem with shortstop? If not, then he could play third and give Lonnie Chiz a run for his money.

12:37
Comment From mtsw
Do players with poor plate discipline hit better against the strongest pitchers? In particular, strong pitchers’ control advantages seem like they’d be neutralized by guys who swing at everything. Is this why the 2014 Orioles seemed to hit so well against other teams’ aces?

12:38
Eno Sarris: I’m not sure it’s that easy, but I will say this: I want my lineup to have both kinds in it. I want 50/50 Joey Vottos and Vlad Guerreros, not one of only each.

12:38
Comment From hscer
I decided I should have at least one beer I can drink, just in case. After two goes, it appears to be just the basic Blue Moon. If that’s my choice, would a connoisseur like you–or perhaps a slightly meaner one–just tell me to give up?

12:38
Eno Sarris: Eh, it’s a wheat beer, has more taste than most Big Beer.

12:38
Comment From mtsw
Are Ryan Howard’s upside-down platoon splits last year just from increasing prevalance of shifts or is his performance vs RHP likely to regress to the mean in 2015?

12:40
Eno Sarris: Don’t stare too hard at one-year platoon splits. I know I mentioned them for Plouffe, but I did talk about components at least, which stabilize faster than outcomes. Howard still struck out 37% of the time against lefties last year.

12:40
Comment From RotoLando
Better Cuban: Tomas or Castillo?

12:40
Eno Sarris: I’ll take Castillo. More athleticism.

12:40
Comment From Vic
Need to keep either Calhoun, Starlin, or Samardzija and throw back the other two in a 15 team 5 x 5. Could keep for next 3 years without a round penalty. Please rank.

12:41
Eno Sarris: Nervous about Samardzija in an AL homer park, so he’s easy to throw back. I’ll take Calhoun over Castro.

12:41
Comment From Biggy
Keeping Miggy, Trout, Cutch for sure, but leave out one: Rizzo, Strasburg, or Puig?

12:42
Eno Sarris: Puig for me. More five-cat goodness, young, future bright.

12:42
Comment From Ryguy
Buy or sell Lawrie this year…will the underlying talent finally breakout?

12:42
Eno Sarris: I’m buying mostly because his price has bottomed out.

12:42
Eno Sarris: Roast. Beast.

12:42
Comment From Walt
I get very angry when looking at past Cy Young or MVPs and find out that the winner is not even the 3rd best candidate. What were voters doing back then?

12:43
Eno Sarris: things *have* gotten better. TEH WINNNNZZZ was usually the answer back then.

12:43
Comment From MidwestSam
Please tell my league mates that Chris Carter has SOME value in an OBP Dynasty. Or explain to me why he doesn’t.

12:43
Eno Sarris: He does. I’m just worried that his floor is vs LHP DH.

12:43
Eno Sarris: (He’s not good at the defense thing)

12:43
Comment From Biggy
In a forever keeper, who to leave out of: Gausman, tanaka, Carrasco, richards, Gio?

12:44

Comment From Ryan
Are there any unheralded prospects that you might not find on top 100 lists that you see having a big impact this year, e.g. Refsnyder before the Drew signing?

12:46
Eno Sarris: Kinda think Jace Peterson has a shot in Atlanta. They like his plate discipline, and the plan is to back up everywhere, but Callaspo, Johnson — that’s opportunity.

12:46
Comment From Mitchell
Do you think Kiermaier can contribute as an every day player?

12:46
Eno Sarris: yes. I’d put him in center and do Souza/Jennings on the sides.

Off the cuff, sonny gray is a top _____ pitcher in dynasty.

12:47
Eno Sarris: 30? 40?

12:48

I was at an Giants game two years ago when Kickham came in to pitch, and this lady behind us screamed “KICKHAM!” about every 30 seconds the whole time he was in the game – so about 3 straight innings.

12:52
Eno Sarris: Probably related.

12:52
Comment From CecilFieldersButtPlug
how long does it take to *trust* platoon splits

12:52
Eno Sarris: It’s something like 1000 PA in the split.

12:53
Comment From Joe 2.0
Some guy just asked about Diickerson or Cespedes and you said you would take Castillo ?

12:53
Eno Sarris: Is this because of the way the chat is flowing? I said Castillo over Tomas and Dickerson over Cespedes.

What do you think of RAJs recent trades acquiring young arms?

12:53
Eno Sarris: I like Lively!

12:53

I don’t get it, do you love mad dog, hate him, or both?

12:53
Eno Sarris: Hate him so bad. I just have to watch MLB network all the time.

12:53
Comment From GS1
Arsenal Scores (or whatever the second version was called) eventually going to hopefully be on the leaderboards or just for fun?

12:54
Eno Sarris: I think it’s best used to identify sleepers before the draft. I don’t think it’ll have predictive value or really gets to the true talent of a guy as much as it uncovers small-sample pitchers or changes in pitching mix that we should watch out for. More of a spring / early summer roll out stat.

12:55
Comment From Bruce
What did Carrasco change to make everyone take his last 3 months over his rest of career?

12:56
Eno Sarris: Velocity went up from being in pen, finally got the results that were commensurate with his stuff. Still some risk that a) the velo goes back down and that’s more important than we thought and b) the command issues come back or are exacerbated by lower velocity. I probably won’t pay top price for him, even though I owned him many times last year.

12:56
Comment From Larry Bernandez
Is Smoltz at least more worthy of a the hall of fame than Glavine? Glavine’s career WAR was like 15 wins lower than Smoltz.

12:56
Eno Sarris: Yeah, and even from watching them, I take Smoltz over Glavine any day.

12:56
Comment From Patrick Enas
Are HLD too random to predict? They correlate with IP and, like, nothing else.

12:56
Eno Sarris: yeah I wouldn’t bother. Use depth charts for that.

12:56
Comment From Ceej
This year, is Sano above or below the line where he should be kept in a long term keeper league where he starts at $1 and it goes up every year?

12:56
Eno Sarris: Above. I think he sees some time this year.

12:56
Comment From Bruce
You going to Phoenix this year?

12:57
Eno Sarris: yes. Hopefully not twice, but maybe. Probably early in the month.

12:57
Comment From Bruce
AZ Wilderness is fantastic and I go every year during ST, but I don’t think you can get to take home

12:57
Comment From Bat
Eno, as a fellow Mets fan, what do you think of the Mets’ decision – at this juncture – to not acquire any SS to compete with Flores? Absent them making a move for Arreubarrena, or Miller or Taylor from the M’s, or Evereth Cab, it seems like the plan is (1) play Flores and (2) if Flores stinks and Tulo proves healthy, go after Tulo. And (3) if Tulo’s not available and Flores stinks, play Reynolds or Tejada? Is this basically the plan?

12:57
Eno Sarris: I think the plan is play Flores and hope that he hits a little and that he can become more of a centerpiece for Tulo trade than he is now. I hope that’s the plan. Because personally I don’t believe his glove works at short, and I’m a little skeptical of his bat as well.

12:58
Comment From The Oriole Bird
Man, I want to go to Bamberg right now and have some Schlenkerla. Can you dig it?

12:58
Eno Sarris: It’s too smoky for me. I only like my smoked beers cut with some sweet (like vanilla beans).

12:58
Comment From JohnnyBlazzeee
Re SF. San Francisco is 7×7 with over 100 bus lines and 10 muni lines. Stay where you like.

12:58
Eno Sarris: Great point! Everything is a 15 dollar cab fare away.

12:58
Comment From GS1
Eno. Eno. Eno. My Baez for his Carlos Correa in a keep forever dynasty league?

12:58
Eno Sarris: I’ll take Correa.

12:58
Comment From DaveDS9
You think Chris Taylor will be the man this year at SS for the Mariners?

12:59
Eno Sarris: Platoon with Miller, with Miller heading to the OF against lefties.

12:59
Comment From Mike T
Do you think Piazza got robbed yet again for the Hall? Would you have voted him amongst all the suspicions with Clemens, Bonds, etc?

1:00
Eno Sarris: I vote Clemens and Bonds in, but even if there’s a line to be drawn there, I think Piazza is on the other side of that line. Not keeping people out on suspicions, that’s Wrong with a capital W for me. And I don’t care if a writer you trust saw something. It was one thing, maybe, and who knows what he saw. He should have reported it if it was real.

1:00
Comment From Andy5
For 2015 only (and without a big long explanation of league rules), would you trade Andrelton Simmons for Hosmer or Roark? Or just hold on to Simmons? I could potentially keep them longer than just this next year. I know I’m not giving you much to go off here.

1:00
Eno Sarris: Trade Simmons. For Hosmer is fine.

1:01
Comment From Mike T
10 team AL Only League (Auction). I just was able to acquire Lorenzo Cain in a cost cutting move, do you see him as a potential breakout candidate?

1:01
Eno Sarris: He’s 28 and was healthy for the first time last year. I think you’re hoping he does the same thing again. Maybe a 15% chance he manages 600 PA and does a little better only by accruing more stats.

1:01
Comment From Sirras One

Braves/Padres approaches: both have benefited the Nats

1:02
Comment From Biggs Darklighter
What do you anticipate out of Kipnis this year? Top-5 at the position?

1:03
Eno Sarris: I think the projections are going to miss that Kipnis played hurt. Zimm found an effect here. So I’ll take the over on his projected power and give him .260/16/20 type numbers. Yeah I think that’s top five.

1:03
Comment From Art Vandelay
Have you ever tried a beer brewed with savory ingredients? (beef bones, herbs, etc.) Any idea where to find anything like that in Northern CA?

1:03
Eno Sarris: Lot of Coriander and Salt combos. Try the Cascade Gose. It’s kind of amazing.

1:04
Comment From Shawn
Schnitzel or Jerk Chicken?

1:04
Eno Sarris: aw damn…. Jerk Chicken. But if you’d said Bratwurst

1:04

Any guys that you’re predicting to make a big step forward this year? Someone like Rizzo did last year?

1:04
Eno Sarris: Need to look harder but Grandal comes to mind.

Comment From Coach Me
Thoughts on life coaches? I only ask because the Mets just hired Rick Ankiel to be their “Life Skills Coordinator”!

1:04
Eno Sarris: Um what

im about to move from NYC to boston this weekend (permanently). any craft brew stores anyone recommend? ill be living in the north end and was pretty spoiled living a block away from Pony Bar in nyc

1:05
Eno Sarris: Well you’ll get more Jack’s Abby which is great

1:05
Comment From mg
Do you think the Marlins will trade Haren? How would he do as a Marlin?

1:05
Eno Sarris: I wonder if they don’t come to a number and he walks away. Or they convince him to pitch the first half of the season, see how the team is doing, and then trade him for peanuts if the season is no good

1:06
Comment From L. Scott
Scherzer has only had 2 excellent seasons, is he a little overrated? Expecting 7 more years of dominance is a little naive, no?

1:06
Eno Sarris: By peripherals, he’s had three excellent seasons, three above-average. I’d pay him for similar going forward.

1:06
Comment From Guest
I think when all this is over, me and arsenal score should get an apartment together. Seriously though, love the work with arsenal score and please do more with it moving forward.

obligatory let eno choose what i get at pony bar tonight. thinking Short weisse http://ues.theponybar.com/

1:07
Eno Sarris: The Weiss yes but what is that Cigar City and the Brooklyn Cuvee interests me too.

1:07
Comment From Boss
Giants could offer Susac and Crick….that’s good enough though, right? Ugggh why can’t we just have a Zobrist/J. Zimmerman/Betts three way trade?

1:07
Eno Sarris: It is but I think the Giants really like Susac. I think they’d part with Crick though.

1:07
Comment From Joe
How does Grandal stand out to you? New lineup? Better park?

1:08
Eno Sarris: The Mesoraco plan. Better power in the minors than he’s shown in bigs, took some time to establish as a catcher, has shown okay peripherals but there’s room for growth in power.

1:08
Comment From DustyRhodes
@CecilFieldersButtPlug try NightShift out of Everett. Great local metro Boston outfit! unique brews! great brewry w bar & food trucks!

1:08
Comment From Josh I
You don’t like Sonny Gray’s sexy curve?

1:08
Eno Sarris: No, it’s a great pitch. And the slider/cutter thing might be enough. Just wondering what will happen as the velocity fritters away.

1:08
Comment From Joe
Brian Dozier’s 2014: huge fluke or only a little fluke?

1:09
Eno Sarris: I’d call it peak vs fluke. He’s been very similar for two years now. Maybe the power steps back a bit, but not much.

If you could choose your draft slot this year, in a serpentine draft, what spot would you want?

1:09
Eno Sarris: 1 and 12.

1:09
Comment From guy
Nick Franklin gonna start the year in TB?

1:09
Eno Sarris: After Zobrist trade, yes.

1:09
Comment From Sabean Wannabe
Giants fan thinking outside the box. What would it take to pry Cliff Lee away from the Phillies? Risky move because of age/injury and contract, but he has recently put up high WAR years i suspect Philly wants to wait and prove he is healthy to up their price.

1:10
Eno Sarris: See I like that, and they have history trading with each other.

1:10
Comment From Ryguy
Believe in Salazar this year or another roller coaster ride?

1:11
Eno Sarris: I think he’ll always have homer issues (iffy command up in the zone) and now he’s supposedly fighting for a rotation spot with House, but the K% means you have to like him on some level.

1:11
Comment From Bruce
Unit going in as a D-Back?

1:11
Eno Sarris: yeah I think so. They just hired him too.

1:12
Comment From Ryan
Latos 2015 post injury sleeper? Top 30 potential?

1:13
Eno Sarris: he’s still on the board at pick 146 http://www.couchmanagers.co… so you don’t have to pay like he has that potential. (shh he’s on my queue though)

Comment From Tom
I was at a Cubs- Cardinals game at Busch Stadium during the height of the McGwire-Sosa war. This dude from Chicago was there with his dad. Throughout the game, the dude yelled, “Sammay! Sammay So-sa!” as loud as he could. He had a sign he made and wanted to get on ESPN. He stood next to his dad and held the sign over the railing, then dropped the sign, yelled, “my sign,” and reached down like he was going to jump down and get it. His dad yelled, “Junior, no,” and grabbed Junior by the belt. Saved his son’s life. Weirdest thing I ever saw.

Eno Sarris: One man interlude.

what do you think Petit’s role will be this season?

1:15
Eno Sarris: He could beat out Lincecum in the spring, but I was interested to see recently that his third time through the order stats are much worse than league average. Might be the deception plays better in short doses.

1:15
Comment From mtsw
Assuming they could get him essentially free (i.e. Philadelphia sending 95% of his remaining salary and getting a bag of balls in return) does Ryan Howard to the O’s make sense? Delmon Young + Howard could be a potent DH platoon.

1:15
Eno Sarris: Yeah AL teams could get some value out of him if Phillies swallow money. Young/Howard would be… amazing.

1:15
Comment From jocephus
what % of your article ideas come from sitting on the toilet?

1:15
Eno Sarris: Shower.

1:16
Comment From Patrick Enas
Would you go into a draft and pick SP based only on K%-BB%?

1:17
Eno Sarris: No not at all. I don’t use it in drafts. I use it in the early season. It’s the best *in-season* estimator. Season to season, I’d rather use components, stuff.

1:17
Comment From DustyRhodes
Most polarizing bat in fantasy drafts this season…

1:17
Eno Sarris: Bryce Harper?

1:17
Comment From Justin
Who would be your biggest targets in an auction format draft?

1:18
Eno Sarris: I never end up with the top top guys because they cost so much. So I’ll probably have two second rounders like I usually do. Donaldson/Puig would make me happy. Rizzo/Rendon.

Comment From Jono
I asked a few weeks ago about beer progression for holiday dinner. Went with an IPL (Hopnius Union to start) Double Stout for dinner (Goose Island- Bourbon County Brand Stout) and ended with a Sculpin IPA. All highly rathed but the GI-BCBS was WAAAAAY too much for me. It’s a meal by itself. Disappointing…. but thank you for the great advice.

1:19
Eno Sarris: I bet you that was an awesome dinner.

1:19
Comment From 804NatsFan
Ankiel to be Nats (not Mets) minor league life skills coordinator. Can you believe he’s only 35?

1:19
Eno Sarris: Well I guess he showed real gumption in coming back like he did.

1:19
Eno Sarris: Two careers before he turned 35.

1:20
Comment From Ghost Hands
Are there any differences in handedness splits with BABIP? Or is it noise regardless of L/R?

1:20
Eno Sarris: BABIP takes forever to stabilize, so chopped in half, it’s worse.

1:20
Comment From Phillies113
Now that Hall of Famers have been announced, is there anything to look forward to in baseball between now and pitchers/catchers reporting?

1:20
Eno Sarris: Still some moves left.

How close are Jansen, Doolittle and Allen in fantasy value this season?

1:21
Eno Sarris: I’ll put Jansen and Doolittle on the same tier, not Allen though.

1:21

$100 cap 5×5 who would you rather have $11 Encarnacion or $3 Springer?

1:21
Eno Sarris: 5×5? Edwin. Springer a lock if it was OBP.

Happy New Year!! 12 team roto dynasty league. Donaldson and Cole for my Darvish and D. Gordon. 3B are ARam and Lawrie. 2B are Lawrie, Utley, Dozier, and Baez. Gordon made up about 65% of my SB’s. Accept? Thanks.

1:24
Eno Sarris: Damn I like the incoming parts better than your parts. (dirty). I wonder if you couldn’t trade Baez for someone like Hamilton/Gordon if there’s a team that has some speed but is more rebuilding. Baez/Utley might even make a competitive team take notice. Lawrie/Dozier is fine at second base IMO.

1:24
Comment From mtsw
Does Biggio get in the HoF a year earlier if he gets hit by 3 more pitches in his career and has the all time record?

1:25
Eno Sarris: the Hall of Fame makes us do ridiculous things. Like I was arguing on my Smoltz piece that his case as a full-time reliever might have been better than his case as a starter, mostly because of saves. Saves! Not that I think they matter, but they matter to the voting.

1:25
Eno Sarris: So: maybe.

1:25
Comment From Jordan
Thoughts on a $29 Kipnis and $10 Rosario? Ottoneu 5×5 with $400 budget. I have a $6 Grandal as well at catcher. Thanks

1:25
Eno Sarris: I like Kipnis, but that’s very borderline. I’d be shopping Rosario hard.

1:26
Comment From Curtis
Is there a way to conduct a study on say how many teams that drafted Trout won their fantasy league?

1:26
Eno Sarris: We could do it in ottoneu, but it’s not fair because it’s a dynasty. Problem is getting the data.

1:26
Comment From Jon
Who are some of your favorite pitchers to target this season?

1:28
Eno Sarris: Wood, Stroman, Richards, deGrom, Paxton, Hutchison, Hahn, Greene, Chase Anderson.

1:28
Comment From Jon
Who do you like from Kipnis, Wong, Alcantara and Walker?

1:28
Eno Sarris: Kipnis. Walker. Wong only if he’s super cheap.

1:29
Comment From Douggie
Maybe they aren’t in it for the money (which can’t be true), but why doesn’t a beer like Heady Topper have a national distribution or at least a larger one?

1:30
Eno Sarris: to some extent, being small has benefits. For one, you can control the quality better. For two, you get hype factor and people come to your brewpub from miles away. For three, you own your own company outright and don’t have to take investors to increase expansion. Alpine shows the problem with this, though. They were the first Nelson beer, they could have flooded the market with it. Instead they focused on owning their own brand. Now they got bought by Green Flash.

HEY ENO, YOU SHOULD COME ON MY SHOW. WE CAN YELL ABOUT PITCHER WINS AND SABERMETRICS!!

1:31
Comment From I Punched Mickey Mantle
Could Chris Davis lose plate appearances due to the continued terrible K rate?

1:31
Eno Sarris: Christian Walker is close, it’s possible. I think they give him this year, they might sink or swim based on his production since they lost some punch.

1:32
Eno Sarris: Okay everyone! I have to go! Thanks for chatting!
