Eno Sarris: I wouldn’t regress him to the levels that the projections are using. Ever since he started trusting his changeup more, he’s been able to pitch to a mid-to-high threes ERA.. which yeah still makes him a sell high.

Baseball Guy: Can we take a moment to appreciate that it is June 1st and Ryan Schimpf has more homers than regular hits? He’s made it up to a 100 wRC+ despite an Avg that would make Alcides Escobar shake his head.

Eno Sarris: Weird dude. Averages the highest launch angle in the sport but can also touch the high fastball. Love him… still scratch your head.

CamdenWarehouse: In related news, I’m not sure The Players’ Tribune should exist

Eno Sarris: It should exist, if only to show us that having a filter, a writer that will judge the words and put them in context with other words and actions, is valuable, and that we don’t all want to read stuff written by PR people in concert with their clients.

Eno Sarris: To be clear, I’m not saying they’re all written by PR, players are smart. But it’s only exactly their side of the story.

William Murray: Is there anything to worry about with Benintendi’s slump? Are pitchers starting to pitch him differently?

Eno Sarris: More fastballs. Maybe didn’t have as much power right now as we thought he did. Still going to hit close to .300 going forward with good speed!

Eno Sarris: Love him. He’s going to hit close to .300 with 30+ homer power soon. Right now? Can’t push a .280/25 type too far north. top 75? top 50?

Erik: Carlos Gonzalez has too much of a track record to just drop, but should he be riding my bench, or starting over someone like Adam Jones or Eric Hosmer?

Eno Sarris: I’d start him over Hosmer.

Erik: What boring, established veterans would you be treating Dinelson Lamet as equivalent to?

Eno Sarris: If you’re talking comp.. I wonder if we’re not looking at a young Greinke without the command. Good rising 4s, sometimes 2s, great slider, really good power change. Command is huge, so he won’t *be* Greinke, but it looks similar in terms of movements and velocities. Without the command, I think I might consider him like a Matt Shoemaker in terms of value. I’m buying though.

2-D: Has the script flipped in redraft leagues that pitching is now more coveted than hitting?

Eno Sarris: Man it’s weird. Pitching, especially with pitchers hitting the DL more than hitters and everyone hitting the DL 50% more often this year, is definitely scarce. But given that DL thing, I’m not sure you should spend a lot more on them before the season. But in season, they’re what everyone wants. Fantasy baseball is in a weird spot, and I can’t believe the people saying this is about the same as usual.

Twoseamers: Who’d you rather have in fantasy ROS – Buxton or Haniger. Eduardo Nunez or Pham?

Eno Sarris: Haniger Nunez

Eno Sarris: Problem is track record. The guys that get good prospects back have done it for a while. I think they keep him and try to ship out Robertson, maybe together with Jones.

JRK: Thoughts on Renfroe going forward?

Eno Sarris: I’d buy. He’s going to hit 30 homers this year, has shown more patience as pitchers have begun to be scared of him, and can make a little more contact still. could settle in as a .250+/.325/.450+ guy.

Big Tuna: I recently made some trades and have been lucky with injuries recently, but I’m antsy to keep tinkering with my roster. How do I control myself? When does it become too many moves?

Eno Sarris: When you haven’t even given one iteration of your team long enough to know what you even need. The graph view of your standings is your friend.

Eno Sarris: I do deals like that all the time. I like the bird in the hand, mostly.

Jeff: Why has everyone in the media soured on Quintana? aside from ERA, Him and Jon Lester are posting identical stat lines, yet one is considered elite ace , and quintana is considered damaged potential trade target. Lester 65 IP 64 H 23BB 67k in NL, Q has 64IP 66 H 24BB 64 ks in the AL, 5 yrs younger and 45 mil cheaper over the next 3.

Eno Sarris: Just looking too hard at ERA. That said, I don’t know why Q has lost the command of the curve. That’s been his calling card, and right now it’s not there.

Kiermaier’s Piercing Green Eyes: What’s a good go-to deli sub to order when you don’t know the place? I’ve always used Italians but I’m finding the salt hard on my stomach these days.

Eno Sarris: I like Nola. Velo up, use of change is up. command is better than this.

Sim: Perdomo ran into a couple of good offenses recently and got smacked around. But he has a 8.72 K/9, 2.70 BB/9 and a 65.9% groundball rate. Good things to come?

Eno Sarris: Lefties still love him (.310/.381/.471!!) so he’ll always be a little worse than his overall numbers until he believes in that changeup.

Beano Harris: How would you rank these closers ROS: Osuna, Knebel, Herrera, Edwin Diaz?

Eno Sarris: Will Herrera close in his new spot? On talent, he’s first, then Osuna and Knebel and Diaz.

Eno Sarris: though they’re all pretty close and I love them all more or less. Glad Diaz lived up to my faith in him and got the job back.

JJ: Thoughts on Daniel Norris? 10 Team AL only. Need an injury replacement. Erasmo also available.

Eno Sarris: I really think he’s one tweak away from being great, not even good.

Eno Sarris: Dude called me a geek, I called him a nerd, and that sums up why he’s any good. He can now throw his slider and change to both sides of the plate against both hands, which is impressive.

Aron: Let’s say you’re a GM of a team that was supposed to be rebuilding. You’re approaching the trade deadline and your team has somehow overperformed their win expectancy by a large number, 10 games in this hypothetical, and you have a WC in your sights. Should you buy and know it’s likely a waste? Sell and stick to your plan? Or, as I’m now realizing, just probably hold. If I still have your attention, what if it’s the opposite and you’re a team that’s greatly underperformed (or been injury-plagued)?

Eno Sarris: Hold in the first, maybe prioritize some guys that are ready over guys that need help, like send Buxton down again or w/e. In the second, you just sell the guys that aren’t nailed down next year.

Eno Sarris: We have releases on the home page and a weekly piece that has release information. Many of those are at breweries, so it’s as easy as me adding in more information about the party (tickets, line up, that sort of thing).

Any increase in velocity could push him to ace status.” His velocity is up 2 ticks according to pfx! But he has a 5.06 ERA (with better peripherals). Is ace level performance coming? You promised!

Eno Sarris: Take one tick away because the way velo is measured is different now. Injuries are a thing for him, obviously, or his walk rate would be lower. I still love him.

Eick: Eno, Fulmer’s ERA does not come close to matching his peripherals going back to last year. Should I be looking to sell high in redraft? In my keeper he costs $5 to keep so I’m holding for now. Make sense?

Eno Sarris: Changeup peripherals match up the most weakly with overall peripherals among any pitch type — they don’t always make for good strikeout rates. But they usually make for weak contact. I’m holding, and I”m happy.

Ice cubicle: The Yahoo dudes keep wrecking McCullers’ trade value. Are you worried about him breaking down or Houston slowing down usage?

Eno Sarris: Not worried about the second. They’re in it to win it, other than a ten-day stint here or there, they’ll let him throw I think. The first? Will always be something to worry about with him.

Eno Sarris: Like choosing between my children. I love love Conforto’s all fields with power approach, so him first, Judge second, and then Bellinger by a contact rate smidgen over Sano.

STiVo: Cool article about Rendon. He’s the man. (Though he seems aloof from my I-don’t-know-him perspective.) I’ve always thought he had a great looking righthanded swing.

Eno Sarris: He was actually pretty down to earth. I think Trea is struggling and didn’t want to talk (used the iPad to avoid me) but Rendon put his feet up and joked. Could also be about their current stats.

Bruce: Aside from 2-3 guys including Gleybar, most Yankees are post-peak. Shouldnt they be big time buyers at the deadline?

Eno Sarris: This does not fit with my interpretation of the team, considering guys that are not on the team currently, and the youth in their rotation other than TANAK. However, they’ve become competitive so quickly that yeah I do think they should be buyers. If they can get a rental starter without giving up Frazier, I’d do it.

Bleh: Running low on saves, got Betances (obviously wont get them forever), Neris, Norris, and J Wilson and Britton on the DL. Should I try to swing a trade for Osuna or Oh or….?

Eno Sarris: I was very impressed. Instead of complaining about how soft his slider is, he’s embraced it and is backfooting people like nuts, and then breaking out the FOSH change. I’d hold/buy.

Eno Sarris: eh. Ariel Miranda is better than I thought, but no front end guy still. And that’s the nicest I can be!

Jon: What should the Pirates do?

Eno Sarris: Hope Cutch goes nuts and becomes tradable?

Thwerve: Randall Delgado. Nobody’s talking about him yet, but he’s been starting, and the results, and quick check of K-BB%, SwStr, and Velo all look good. I look at the movements and the change is not great but it’s at least different than his 4-seam. Also seems to possibly have a 2nd changeup with 4-seam movement which is weird, pitch f/x thinks its a slider. He’s started before a long time ago. I guess the whiffs have always been there but the command has never. What’s your take?

Eno Sarris: He’s always showed up as a guy with multiple good pitches, Rise on 4s makes the change better than it seems, good slider, yeah minus command. I think he could be a sneaky good deep league pickup. Even his projections are pretty good.

Eno Sarris: I don’t think the release on it is the same. Maybe he doesn’t trust to let his arm go like he used to? Or maybe the ligament itself is not allowing the same movement? It’s weird, but that pitch is still not back. I’m going to go back to trying to sell him again, shhh don’t tell anyone this time.

Eno Sarris: Sorta screwed. Have you tried a saison? It’s a little different.

Eno Sarris: It’s a bit high for me. HIs secondaries are all pretty meh right now, he’s living off the fastball, and as it warms i think he’ll give up more homers.

Eno Sarris: He did change his hand slot and has hit more fly balls and seen more power since, so on that front I believe. BA will come down, surely.

Phil: Am I the only one who thinks Bundy’s velocity decline is mostly a classification issue? His 4-seam is clearly down a little, maybe even intentionally, but a lot of it seems to be a failure to take into account his increased use of a 2-seamer. The eye test tells me he has two distinct fastballs right now. His most recent start showed an increase back to the 4-seamer I think. He still needs more whiffs though… the change and cutter are too good to be this hittable.

Eno Sarris: Brooks has him up to 7% sinker? Also says his sinker is .4 mph slower than the 4s so I don’t think that’s it.

Eno Sarris: Decent. A bit above average. Has good patience! average or better in patience, contact, power… just doesn’t really pop in one place other than patience.

Geoff: Whit Merrifield is hot. You think he’s really this good?

Eno Sarris: You have to really believe in his new power, and he is hitting more fly balls, but it’s a pretty small sample. Probably still just a .260/.300/.400 guy

Jake: With launch angle becoming so popular lately, and Joc Pedersons power, how is it possible he has such a high ground ball rate? What’s up?…or down.

Eno Sarris: The only thing he’s really told me about his approach is that he’s trying to hit fly balls. So it’s not for lack of trying! I think the injury has been hard on him.

Eno Sarris: he’s never had a game wth that many curveballs before! But he has been moving towards this slowly over time, the other biggest games are all this year and late last year. It’s possible that he should whittle down to fewer, better pitches, and it seems like he’s doing that.

Eno Sarris: I try not to tie advancing my strategy for evaluation to one player, just always trying to get better. But there have been a few that I looked wrong on that just needed a little time.

Eno Sarris: Overrate guys that hit home runs and do little else, pitchers with great velocity that are missing secondary pitches or command. Underrate guys like Robbie Grossman that are good but not great at a lot of things, and pitchers like Biagini maybe, pitchers with a good assortment of pitches that are not amazing.
