Eno Sarris: I’m going to take the Dodgers. Kershaw gives them two wins (I know it doesn’t work like that, but humor me) and that’s a nice bank. Not sure Sonny Gray changes that calculus.

Nick: Got offered Kyle Tucker and Schebler for Stras and Cahill and a keeper? Take it or leave it?

Eno Sarris: Eh. This run environment seems to create Scheblers left and right and if Stras is a keeper he’s best in deal.

Senor Crabs: I hate to be this guy, but I traded 4 years of Kris Bryant for 4 years of Gregory Polanco and 5 years of Maz and Aaron Nola. Did I do ok?

Eno Sarris: Maz is Mazara or Matz? If it’s Mazara, I don’t think this is as bad as it looks right now. Polanco was hurt early this year and can still give you a good BA 20/10+ kind of package which is rarer these days. And I still think Mazara’s peak is .300/30/120 type stuff in that park with his approach. Matz? Don’t love taking a step down in hitting for pitching in keepers, like ever.

MC: Can the Dodgers get Britton with Willie Calhoun as the headliner?

Eno Sarris: That cat can hit. And sending him to an AL team softens the blow of his brick hands.

Eno Sarris: 1) That division is straight poo poo no chaser.
2) They have the same run differential that the Boston Red Sox are currently sporting.
3) They have the best pitching in the American League.
4) Hitters are surprisingly easy to acquire, and a guy like Nunez could really be exactly what they need.

Jaime: Everyone’s talking about the Yankees’ super bullpen with Chapman, Betances, Kahnle and Robertson, but I’ve watched most Yankee games this year and nobody has looked nearly as dominant as Chad Green

Eno Sarris: I love me some Chad Green. They going to stretch him out now?

cmon man: Deal McCullers for 75 cents on the dollar or is he gonna be alri?

Eno Sarris: don’t do that.

Kyle: T or F: Sonny Gray would only be a marginal improvement over Collin McHugh in an Astros potential Playoff Rotation.

Eno Sarris: yes, but! marginal improvements are still pretty huge in playoff situations, and turning game three from a cluster tuck into a Gray plus situation, and giving the team options in a game four situation, that adds up to more than marginal. For example, if you’re up a lot after Gray wins game three, you can run the McHugh/Fiers/Morton situation out as your game four starter, or turn Morton and McHugh into really really nice sixth inning guys.

Eno: Have you drank anything from Other Half or Trillium?

Eno Sarris: All of it has been great.

Kyle: Day one of bottle weening for the 2 year old has resulted in multiple instances of sippy cups being hurled across the living rooms, as well naked temper tantrums. Stay tuned!

Justin: What do you think a trade haul for a rental # ~2 SP like say Darvish looks like these days?  is the Cueto-KC template a good approximation?

Eno Sarris: We disagree about how good Yu Darvish is!

2-D: Any different feelings about Clevinger after seeing him in person?

Eno Sarris: Yes! I think the thing you don’t capture until you are behind home plate is the deception. He does that gross arm swing between his legs, looks like a hippie, and then it’s all legs and arms and hair coming at you. I saw tons of swings and misses on the changeup because of that deception.

Dookie Howser, MD: What are the odds that Sandoval sees playing time for the Giants this season?

Eno Sarris: Time share with Hwang after Nunez gets traded? 30%? There’s still Ryder Jones and Christian Arroyo at some point.

Shawn: Any data on how package stores are doing? I’m in CT, and New England is an IPA mecca these days, so I rarely go to the package store to buy IPAs and instead go right to the brewery. I would assume it’s like that in other areas? Any idea if this is hurting the package stores, or is the IPA craze actually helping to get people in the stores?

Eno Sarris: There’s a fight to the death when it comes to shelf space, that’ll kill some mid-size breweries. But the package store itself I think is doing okay for now. I, for example, don’t love the breweries within 15 minutes of my house. I love the ones that are 45 minutes away…

Moltar: I know I missed my opportunity to sell high, but I can’t even get a nibble on Vargas as a throw in in a trade. Is he heading for drops-ville? I’m gonna need his roster spot once Keuchel comes back, and my only other drop option is Maeda.

Eno Sarris: I think I’d rather have Maeda, and they’re right next to each other.

Eno Sarris: I did love that. I think it’s how he solved the inside fastball/cutter situation.

jeff: seeing what Phelps just fetched from Seattle with that extra yr of control, you think the white sox could get a similar haul for swarzak? same age, only 2 homers allowed, half the walks and same k/9 rate as phelps. just a free agent next year.

Eno Sarris: One thing, and I’m surprised how rarely this came up with Kahnle talk: doing it for more than one year is pretty important if you’re talking about paying for a reliever with years of control. Kahnle could lose his command just as easily as he found it, and Swarzak could lose that extra tick he found. Phelps, as a reliever, has been pretty much solid to better than that.

Matt: I saw you Tweet a picture of a Snarf’s sandwich while in Chi. Snarf’s is like if Subway tried to knockoff Potbelly. Just terrible. I’m not so much mad as disappointed. I thought better of you, Eno.

Eno Sarris: I was hungry and a local steered me there. They may not have known my threshold for sandwiches. It lacked enough meat.

Dookie Howser, MD: As a Jamaican, do you find it offensive that the top comment on your Brad Zimmer article was by somebody under the handle “bobmarleydied”?

Eno Sarris: 1) didn’t notice! 2) well, he did?

Tiny Rick: What was your strategery on prospects in a dynasty again? Keep the top 10, trade the rest?

Eno Sarris: Keep top 10 hitters, fade the rest. Might open that up to top 20. I don’t like to trade for prospect pitchers, ever.

Delino Deshields IV: Danny Salazar’s supposed to come off the DL this weekend. Would you run him out vs. TOR in an AL-only? Thanks!

Eno Sarris: I’d leave him on the DL for that, just to see if he changed anything while down.

Bird Watcher: What’s your thoughts on Greg Bird in 2018?  Starting 1B for NY that can be counted on from day 1 of regular season?

Eno Sarris: I still like him for .250/.350/.500 type work, and given the circumstances of his injuries, I’m hesitant to call him injury prone.

Eno Sarris: I think so. Watch the changeup. It’s great. He’s throwing it more. I think there might be some walk rate implications from throwing it more, but I believe in him.

Phil: Lester and Duvall for Pollock and Sonny Gray. Which side you want?

Eno Sarris: Pollock and Gray.

Timbo: Expectations for Moncada rest of season? Bad BA with >15 HRs+SBs?

Eno Sarris: Striking out 28% of the minors, without Judgian power levels, that seems about right. Ball might get him to 10 and 10 and .240.

GraphsFan: Eno, what does a replacement-level sandwich consist of?

Eno Sarris: Bread, cheese, meat, one sauce and one of the elements is above average. If you don’t even have one interesting piece in it, it’s below replacement.

Sour beer: Corbin is a top __ pitcher #rest of year.

Eno Sarris: 50/60. Changeup is the best it’s ever been.

Sour beer: How legit is Godley? I’m debating trading for him before his dynasty value climbs super high.

Eno Sarris: It’s not amazing velo, but he has great sink on his sinker, and the other pitches look legit. I think he’ll settle in as a good number two.

sn4k3rjaker: The fact that the Twins are still, somehow, not terrible is a delightful surprise to me, and now my brain is delightfully inebriated with the libations of playoff aspirations… It really seems to me that one SP would go a long ways in Minnesota. I still have this fever dream where they go ahead and buy Sonny Gray, to try to get better for the next couple of years, and take advantage of this muddy AL playoff situation. I guess that’s not really a question, but how nuts would that be?

Eno Sarris: I mean, they’re not that far from the Mariners in terms of playoff odds, Berrios and Santana could do you right at the beginning of a series, Sano/Kepler/Dozier is a decent lineup… just wish they could be better at finding relievers.

Hiram Boccachica: What’s up with Donaldson?  Does he turn it around or is this kinda a lost year for him?

Eno Sarris: I’m thinking about this a lot. Not lifting the ball, not hitting the ball hard, possibly hurt, but how often are the injuries going to come when he’s 32+? Kinda want to turn this on the crowd.

Ricky: Hey Eno – have you noticed a change in approach from Stanton this year? It seems he’s standing much closer to the plate and his batting stance is closed as well. It’d be great to see an article with side-by-side comparisons !

Eno Sarris: I’ve seen some of that, but my guess is that he’s just decided to have a two-strike approach. Some of his exit velo was down but he’s making more contact. I might focus on that, but I keep hoping he’ll talk to me some day.

Ralph: Trevor Story is hitting .353 over the last few weeks, albeit with limited power. He BACK? Big 2nd half coming or nah?

Eno Sarris: He’s pushed his launch angle from bad (around 30) down to good (around 20), so yeah, I think some good is coming.

Eno Sarris: Box scores man. Let the world burn down around us but give us box scores and lineups to mess around with.

Jim Lahey: Kendall Graveman and Jharel Cotton both stunk up the joint ln in AAA during rehab appearances. Which OAK SP interests you more ROS and in the future?

Eno Sarris: If you could jam em together you’d have an ace. Do you want the guy that throws one pitch 80% of the time or the guy with two secondaries that are better than anything that the fastball guy throws? I might take Cotton still. I wish he had better extension, though.

Ranger: How much does fb-pitch velo difference matter for pitches other than change?

Eno Sarris: I found it had some effect on ground ball rate for the slider, but it was a smaller velo gap leading to more ground balls, which makes some sense.

Reginald Denton III: Did you see Priests at Pitchfork?  Heard they were rad.

Eno Sarris: I did… and I didn’t really get it. Wasn’t danceable to me, she seemed like a mess, the music was… halting? Maybe i just caught the wrong songs, but I wasn’t super into it.

Eno Sarris: This guy was pretty good, at least his good songs were really good.

Eno Sarris: Especially liked that he had like three or four or five different flows. Danny Brown seems to have one.

GraphsFan: How many games do you watch end to end? Or does your baseball life consist more of analyzing swaths of data and gifs of interesting plays?

Eno Sarris: oooh yeah end to end? very very few. Happens for the big games we’re all watching, and maybe day games on MLBN (or A’s or Giants) while I’m working , but mostly I watch snippets of games and jump around from interesting pitcher to interesting pitcher.

Houzer: How much is Dombrowski gonna pay for Donaldson? Cashman has poked the bear …

Eno Sarris: The other rumor is Machado. I bet it’s coming. The rental three Bs that cost less are not very exciting. I might personally prefer to get Lowrie for very little and keep Devers because Devers is a top ten prospect for me.

Dan: Eno! I’m so boned. Traded Alonso for pitching then promptly lost Correa and, apparently, Souza. My only surplus is relievers: Diaz, Wilson, Dyson, Norris, Rosenthal and probably Clippard this weekend. I hate to buy high, but the dude with Jose Ramirez really needs saves – do any two of those guys get the job done? Or some combo of them plus someone like Harrison/Melky/Brantley?

Eno Sarris: Buying Jose now is not buying high. Do it with anyone not named Diaz and any of those hitters.

Eno Sarris: Rather have a job in development if I work in baseball ever.

GraphsFan: Do you have a favorite moment from your playing days?

Eno Sarris: My last year I was 3/10 with three drag bunts in three games. One time I ran hard to first, barely made it, got on the bag, hawked a loogie, and it landed on the first baseman’s sleeve. I debated wether or not I should wipe it off, ended up doing it, and got the most withering look ever.

Luzinski’sSweatyGooch: Does the M’s inability to develop hitters during the Jack Z regime make them the most inept player developmental program in baseball history?

Eno Sarris: The park plays a role. Imagine you’re a young guy looking to feel confidence in a short opportunity. As a pitcher you come in, and a blast dies on the wall. Okay, you turn around and pitch again. Now imagine you’re the hitter in that same scenario.

Dan: Should Mike Montgomery be owned in a 12-teamer?

Eno Sarris: Man his strikeout minus walk situation is… not good. He’s probably league average for real baseball, slightly below average in fantasy, and a streamer in 12.

Hamilton Porter: Should the Frazier trade stop the Yankees from pursuing Alonso or Duda if they’re intending on playing Headley at 1B?

Eno Sarris: No, Headley can still hit against lefties.

Eno Sarris: B) above-average starter. Fastball is a little straight and command isn’t great, but he’s in the NL and his secondaries are plus.

Estuve : I don’t understand why Treinen isn’t dominant. The stuff that comes out of his hand is bonkers.

Eno Sarris: It’s so bonkers that batters don’t have to swing.

Estuve : Would you ever advise a guy with 100ish to throw a 97ish two-seamer?

Eno Sarris: Yes. The difference in average launch angle between the 4s and the 2s is ten degrees. 1mph exit velo too.

Phils Fan: I’m in a 10 teamer and shipped out Sonny Gray, Alex Cobb, and Jeff Hoffman to acquire Carrasco. Sonny’s looked sharp and Cobb seems proficient even without that og change worked in completely. I’m a bit on the wait and see side, but how do ya think I did?

Matt: I don’t think Green is getting stretched out. Only has 2 (3?) pitches. Fire in the ‘pen. Not great to make it 3x through order.

Eno Sarris: Yeah, talked to him about trusting the splitter more and if the cutter and slider blend together. Asking mostly because I’m not really a Mitchell guy, Cessa fairly bland…

Eno Sarris: Oh wow the Astros are going to get Lowrie in the Gray trade aren’t they, and push Bregman to short lol. This is totally happening.

Eno Sarris: Because using Doolittle as the closer opens up a lefty problem behind him. If they get Wilson, Doo can close.

Eno Sarris: There are only like 18 players projected for more than 8 stolen bases.
