Eno Sarris Baseball Chat — 7/20/17

1:06
Eno Sarris: This guy danced like this, sang like crazy, and ended up in a tree at some point last weekend at Pitchfork and we should all live so intensely

12:01
TimMorris: 7 game series who you got, Dodgers or Astros?

12:02
Eno Sarris: I’m going to take the Dodgers. Kershaw gives them two wins (I know it doesn’t work like that, but humor me) and that’s a nice bank. Not sure Sonny Gray changes that calculus.

12:02
Nick: Got offered Kyle Tucker and Schebler for Stras and Cahill and a keeper? Take it or leave it?

12:03
Eno Sarris: Eh. This run environment seems to create Scheblers left and right and if Stras is a keeper he’s best in deal.

12:03
Senor Crabs: I hate to be this guy, but I traded 4 years of Kris Bryant for 4 years of Gregory Polanco and 5 years of Maz and Aaron Nola. Did I do ok?

12:05
Eno Sarris: Maz is Mazara or Matz? If it’s Mazara, I don’t think this is as bad as it looks right now. Polanco was hurt early this year and can still give you a good BA 20/10+ kind of package which is rarer these days. And I still think Mazara’s peak is .300/30/120 type stuff in that park with his approach. Matz? Don’t love taking a step down in hitting for pitching in keepers, like ever.

12:05
MC: Can the Dodgers get Britton with Willie Calhoun as the headliner?

12:05
Eno Sarris: That cat can hit. And sending him to an AL team softens the blow of his brick hands.

12:05
Pie: Eno, the stove is hot

12:05
Matt: ENOCHAT! ENOCHAT! ENOCHAT! ENOCHAT!

12:05
Nihilist Eno: No Eno chat last week made me sad. Until I realized that there are no Eno chats in the void of death.

12:06
Eno Sarris: That DE-escalated quickly.

12:06
Matty P: Indians went 1-5 on the bay area road trip. Yikes. Help me feel better about this team that is now only 3 games over 500

12:08
Eno Sarris: 1) That division is straight poo poo no chaser.
2) They have the same run differential that the Boston Red Sox are currently sporting.
3) They have the best pitching in the American League.
4) Hitters are surprisingly easy to acquire, and a guy like Nunez could really be exactly what they need.

12:08
Jaime: Everyone’s talking about the Yankees’ super bullpen with Chapman, Betances, Kahnle and Robertson, but I’ve watched most Yankee games this year and nobody has looked nearly as dominant as Chad Green

12:08
Eno Sarris: I love me some Chad Green. They going to stretch him out now?

12:08
cmon man: Deal McCullers for 75 cents on the dollar or is he gonna be alri?

12:08
Eno Sarris: don’t do that.

12:08
Kyle: T or F: Sonny Gray would only be a marginal improvement over Collin McHugh in an Astros potential Playoff Rotation.

12:11
Eno Sarris: yes, but! marginal improvements are still pretty huge in playoff situations, and turning game three from a cluster tuck into a Gray plus situation, and giving the team options in a game four situation, that adds up to more than marginal. For example, if you’re up a lot after Gray wins game three, you can run the McHugh/Fiers/Morton situation out as your game four starter, or turn Morton and McHugh into really really nice sixth inning guys.

12:11
Eno: Have you drank anything from Other Half or Trillium?

12:11
Eno Sarris: All of it has been great.

12:11
Kyle: Day one of bottle weening for the 2 year old has resulted in multiple instances of sippy cups being hurled across the living rooms, as well naked temper tantrums. Stay tuned!

12:11
Eno Sarris: Sounds like my second. He still rubs my nipples and he’s three in October.

12:12
Justin: What do you think a trade haul for a rental # ~2 SP like say Darvish looks like these days?  is the Cueto-KC template a good approximation?

12:12
Eno Sarris: We disagree about how good Yu Darvish is!

12:12
2-D: Any different feelings about Clevinger after seeing him in person?

12:13
Eno Sarris: Yes! I think the thing you don’t capture until you are behind home plate is the deception. He does that gross arm swing between his legs, looks like a hippie, and then it’s all legs and arms and hair coming at you. I saw tons of swings and misses on the changeup because of that deception.

12:14
Eno Sarris:

I didn’t know Mike Clevinger was so… obscene
19 Jul 2017
12:15
Dookie Howser, MD: What are the odds that Sandoval sees playing time for the Giants this season?

12:15
Eno Sarris: Time share with Hwang after Nunez gets traded? 30%? There’s still Ryder Jones and Christian Arroyo at some point.

12:16
Shawn: Any data on how package stores are doing? I’m in CT, and New England is an IPA mecca these days, so I rarely go to the package store to buy IPAs and instead go right to the brewery. I would assume it’s like that in other areas? Any idea if this is hurting the package stores, or is the IPA craze actually helping to get people in the stores?

12:16
Eno Sarris: There’s a fight to the death when it comes to shelf space, that’ll kill some mid-size breweries. But the package store itself I think is doing okay for now. I, for example, don’t love the breweries within 15 minutes of my house. I love the ones that are 45 minutes away…

12:17
Moltar: I know I missed my opportunity to sell high, but I can’t even get a nibble on Vargas as a throw in in a trade. Is he heading for drops-ville? I’m gonna need his roster spot once Keuchel comes back, and my only other drop option is Maeda.

12:18
Eno Sarris: I think I’d rather have Maeda, and they’re right next to each other.

12:18
Davy: Joey Votto explaining how far he chokes up: [2 inches] “I’m hitting.” [4 inches] “Two Strikes.” [6 inches] “I’m scared of you.” [8 inches] “Kershaw.” It was during an MLB Network interview before the ASG. Just thought you’d enjoy it.

12:18
Eno Sarris: I did love that. I think it’s how he solved the inside fastball/cutter situation.

12:18
jeff: seeing what Phelps just fetched from Seattle with that extra yr of control, you think the white sox could get a similar haul for swarzak? same age, only 2 homers allowed, half the walks and same k/9 rate as phelps. just a free agent next year.

12:20
Eno Sarris: One thing, and I’m surprised how rarely this came up with Kahnle talk: doing it for more than one year is pretty important if you’re talking about paying for a reliever with years of control. Kahnle could lose his command just as easily as he found it, and Swarzak could lose that extra tick he found. Phelps, as a reliever, has been pretty much solid to better than that.

12:21
Matt: I saw you Tweet a picture of a Snarf’s sandwich while in Chi. Snarf’s is like if Subway tried to knockoff Potbelly. Just terrible. I’m not so much mad as disappointed. I thought better of you, Eno.

12:21
Eno Sarris: I was hungry and a local steered me there. They may not have known my threshold for sandwiches. It lacked enough meat.

12:22
Dookie Howser, MD: As a Jamaican, do you find it offensive that the top comment on your Brad Zimmer article was by somebody under the handle “bobmarleydied”?

12:22
Eno Sarris: 1) didn’t notice! 2) well, he did?

12:22
Tiny Rick: What was your strategery on prospects in a dynasty again? Keep the top 10, trade the rest?

12:23
Eno Sarris: Keep top 10 hitters, fade the rest. Might open that up to top 20. I don’t like to trade for prospect pitchers, ever.

12:23
Delino Deshields IV: Danny Salazar’s supposed to come off the DL this weekend. Would you run him out vs. TOR in an AL-only? Thanks!

12:23
Eno Sarris: I’d leave him on the DL for that, just to see if he changed anything while down.

12:23
Bird Watcher: What’s your thoughts on Greg Bird in 2018?  Starting 1B for NY that can be counted on from day 1 of regular season?

12:24
Eno Sarris: I still like him for .250/.350/.500 type work, and given the circumstances of his injuries, I’m hesitant to call him injury prone.

12:24
Dookie Howser, MD: Will you please consider a different hair style?

12:25
Eno Sarris: Yo who let my wife in here

12:25
Bob: What’s rodon’s future? Does he become an ace?

12:25
Eno Sarris: I think so. Watch the changeup. It’s great. He’s throwing it more. I think there might be some walk rate implications from throwing it more, but I believe in him.

12:26
Phil: Lester and Duvall for Pollock and Sonny Gray. Which side you want?

12:26
Eno Sarris: Pollock and Gray.

12:26
Timbo: Expectations for Moncada rest of season? Bad BA with >15 HRs+SBs?

12:27
Eno Sarris: Striking out 28% of the minors, without Judgian power levels, that seems about right. Ball might get him to 10 and 10 and .240.

12:27
GraphsFan: Eno, what does a replacement-level sandwich consist of?

12:28
Eno Sarris: Bread, cheese, meat, one sauce and one of the elements is above average. If you don’t even have one interesting piece in it, it’s below replacement.

12:29
Sour beer: Corbin is a top __ pitcher #rest of year.

12:29
Eno Sarris: 50/60. Changeup is the best it’s ever been.

12:30
Sour beer: How legit is Godley? I’m debating trading for him before his dynasty value climbs super high.

12:30
Eno Sarris: It’s not amazing velo, but he has great sink on his sinker, and the other pitches look legit. I think he’ll settle in as a good number two.

12:31
sn4k3rjaker: The fact that the Twins are still, somehow, not terrible is a delightful surprise to me, and now my brain is delightfully inebriated with the libations of playoff aspirations… It really seems to me that one SP would go a long ways in Minnesota. I still have this fever dream where they go ahead and buy Sonny Gray, to try to get better for the next couple of years, and take advantage of this muddy AL playoff situation. I guess that’s not really a question, but how nuts would that be?

12:32
Eno Sarris: I mean, they’re not that far from the Mariners in terms of playoff odds, Berrios and Santana could do you right at the beginning of a series, Sano/Kepler/Dozier is a decent lineup… just wish they could be better at finding relievers.

12:33
Hiram Boccachica: What’s up with Donaldson?  Does he turn it around or is this kinda a lost year for him?

12:33
Eno Sarris: I’m thinking about this a lot. Not lifting the ball, not hitting the ball hard, possibly hurt, but how often are the injuries going to come when he’s 32+? Kinda want to turn this on the crowd.

12:35
Eno Sarris:

How many wins for Josh Donaldson next year?

3 (21.7% | 67 votes)

4 (46.1% | 142 votes)

5 (25.3% | 78 votes)

12:35
Eno Sarris: wow y’all some pessimists

12:35
Jeb: What should the Pirates do at this point? They are kind of in no man’s land

12:36
Eno Sarris: Build for 2018. With Meadows not developing the power his butt suggested was coming, you don’t even have to sell Cutch right now.

12:36
Ricky: Hey Eno – have you noticed a change in approach from Stanton this year? It seems he’s standing much closer to the plate and his batting stance is closed as well. It’d be great to see an article with side-by-side comparisons !

12:37
Eno Sarris: I’ve seen some of that, but my guess is that he’s just decided to have a two-strike approach. Some of his exit velo was down but he’s making more contact. I might focus on that, but I keep hoping he’ll talk to me some day.

12:37
Ralph: Trevor Story is hitting .353 over the last few weeks, albeit with limited power. He BACK? Big 2nd half coming or nah?

12:38
Eno Sarris: He’s pushed his launch angle from bad (around 30) down to good (around 20), so yeah, I think some good is coming.

12:38
Gub Gub: Yo ho ho and a bottle of Chicago Hot Dog Sauce

12:38
Eno Sarris: NO

12:38
A-Z: Just wanted to say fantasy baseball and this site as extension has helped me through a difficult time where little is going right. Through the rainy days, I can still see the fantasy baseball

12:38
Eno Sarris: Box scores man. Let the world burn down around us but give us box scores and lineups to mess around with.

12:39
Jim Lahey: Kendall Graveman and Jharel Cotton both stunk up the joint ln in AAA during rehab appearances. Which OAK SP interests you more ROS and in the future?

12:40
Eno Sarris: If you could jam em together you’d have an ace. Do you want the guy that throws one pitch 80% of the time or the guy with two secondaries that are better than anything that the fastball guy throws? I might take Cotton still. I wish he had better extension, though.

12:40
Ranger: How much does fb-pitch velo difference matter for pitches other than change?

12:41
Eno Sarris: I found it had some effect on ground ball rate for the slider, but it was a smaller velo gap leading to more ground balls, which makes some sense.

12:41
Reginald Denton III: Did you see Priests at Pitchfork?  Heard they were rad.

12:42
Eno Sarris: I did… and I didn’t really get it. Wasn’t danceable to me, she seemed like a mess, the music was… halting? Maybe i just caught the wrong songs, but I wasn’t super into it.

12:44
Eno Sarris: This guy was pretty good, at least his good songs were really good.

12:44
Eno Sarris: Especially liked that he had like three or four or five different flows. Danny Brown seems to have one.

12:45
GraphsFan: How many games do you watch end to end? Or does your baseball life consist more of analyzing swaths of data and gifs of interesting plays?

12:46
Eno Sarris: oooh yeah end to end? very very few. Happens for the big games we’re all watching, and maybe day games on MLBN (or A’s or Giants) while I’m working , but mostly I watch snippets of games and jump around from interesting pitcher to interesting pitcher.

12:46
Houzer: How much is Dombrowski gonna pay for Donaldson? Cashman has poked the bear …

12:47
Eno Sarris: The other rumor is Machado. I bet it’s coming. The rental three Bs that cost less are not very exciting. I might personally prefer to get Lowrie for very little and keep Devers because Devers is a top ten prospect for me.

12:47
Dan: Eno! I’m so boned. Traded Alonso for pitching then promptly lost Correa and, apparently, Souza. My only surplus is relievers: Diaz, Wilson, Dyson, Norris, Rosenthal and probably Clippard this weekend. I hate to buy high, but the dude with Jose Ramirez really needs saves – do any two of those guys get the job done? Or some combo of them plus someone like Harrison/Melky/Brantley?

12:48
Eno Sarris: Buying Jose now is not buying high. Do it with anyone not named Diaz and any of those hitters.

12:48
GraphsFan: Would you rather be offered a job as a Manager or a GM?

12:48
Eno Sarris: Rather have a job in development if I work in baseball ever.

12:49
GraphsFan: Do you have a favorite moment from your playing days?

12:49
Eno Sarris: My last year I was 3/10 with three drag bunts in three games. One time I ran hard to first, barely made it, got on the bag, hawked a loogie, and it landed on the first baseman’s sleeve. I debated wether or not I should wipe it off, ended up doing it, and got the most withering look ever.

12:49
Luzinski’sSweatyGooch: Does the M’s inability to develop hitters during the Jack Z regime make them the most inept player developmental program in baseball history?

12:51
Eno Sarris: The park plays a role. Imagine you’re a young guy looking to feel confidence in a short opportunity. As a pitcher you come in, and a blast dies on the wall. Okay, you turn around and pitch again. Now imagine you’re the hitter in that same scenario.

12:52
Dan: Should Mike Montgomery be owned in a 12-teamer?

12:52
Eno Sarris: Man his strikeout minus walk situation is… not good. He’s probably league average for real baseball, slightly below average in fantasy, and a streamer in 12.

12:53
Hamilton Porter: Should the Frazier trade stop the Yankees from pursuing Alonso or Duda if they’re intending on playing Headley at 1B?

12:53
Eno Sarris: No, Headley can still hit against lefties.

12:53
STiVo: Eno!  Just moved to Richmond (need to catch a Flying Squirrels game).  Fun note, my kids’ pediatric dentist is Steven Lombardozzi’s cousin.  He said that he used to get up to the plate at high school games, and all the scouts would be on the edge of their seat.  Then he’d hear whispers, “Nah.  Wrong Lombardozzi.”  [Sad face.]

12:54
Eno Sarris: There’s a famous movie critic with the last name Sarris, and I wanted to write about movies coming out of college. But movie critics don’t put their names on the back of their shirts, not regularly at least.

12:54
Wilks: I’m going to be in San Diego next week and planning to go to a game at Petco. Any recommendations of places to grab food/drink?

12:54
Eno Sarris: Just right around the stadium? Half Door for beers after Neighborhood for beers and food.

12:55
Anthony: LUis Castillo is going to be a (n) ________ next season          a-ace     b- abv avg starter  c) Mid Rotation

12:56
Eno Sarris: B) above-average starter. Fastball is a little straight and command isn’t great, but he’s in the NL and his secondaries are plus.

12:56
Estuve : I don’t understand why Treinen isn’t dominant. The stuff that comes out of his hand is bonkers.

12:56
Eno Sarris: It’s so bonkers that batters don’t have to swing.

12:56
Estuve : Would you ever advise a guy with 100ish to throw a 97ish two-seamer?

12:57
Eno Sarris: Yes. The difference in average launch angle between the 4s and the 2s is ten degrees. 1mph exit velo too.

12:58
Phils Fan: I’m in a 10 teamer and shipped out Sonny Gray, Alex Cobb, and Jeff Hoffman to acquire Carrasco. Sonny’s looked sharp and Cobb seems proficient even without that og change worked in completely. I’m a bit on the wait and see side, but how do ya think I did?

12:58
Eno Sarris: A+.

12:58
VottomanEmpire: Also I just had some Hill Farmstead Society & Solitude #5 at the Bronx Alehouse near my apartment, soundtracked (unexpectedly) by Bush’s ‘Glycerine’. It was… a moment I will remember.

12:58
Eno Sarris: Admit it, you sang along.

12:58
Johnny Coconuts: Jacob Faria starting to show his warts. Could he end up on the Jharel Cotton performance curve? Or is his breaking stuff good enough to put him on a healthy Matz track?

12:58
Eno Sarris: He lost two ticks for some reason. Wonder what’s going on.

12:58
bob loblaw: any chance treinen is closing soon?  i need saves – worth it to add bearclaw?  hand?

12:59
Eno Sarris: Kyle first with Phelps gone, but Treinen’s right there with Casilla scuffling.

12:59
Daniel: Should I sell high on Ray? That curve doesn’t move a lot. He’s getting lucky. But the strikeouts are a nice fall back in bad games. If he’s a 4 ERA pitcher ROS with lots of Ks, is that worth holding?

12:59
Eno Sarris: I’d sell IMO.

1:00
Matt: I don’t think Green is getting stretched out. Only has 2 (3?) pitches. Fire in the ‘pen. Not great to make it 3x through order.

1:00
Eno Sarris: Yeah, talked to him about trusting the splitter more and if the cutter and slider blend together. Asking mostly because I’m not really a Mitchell guy, Cessa fairly bland…

1:01
Ryker: Donthink we’ll see a strong finish from Bregman?  He’s had a sophomore slump of sorts.  Do you think he gets SS eligibility?

1:01
Eno Sarris: Oh wow the Astros are going to get Lowrie in the Gray trade aren’t they, and push Bregman to short lol. This is totally happening.

1:01
Delino Deshields IV: Re: your cleveland comments: What would be an appropriate poo poo chaser?

1:01
Eno Sarris: Something with a fair amount of alcohol to both wash the taste and cleanse the mouth.

1:01
frankthetank: If you’re the Nats who’s your closer? I don’t really understand why they would go for Wilson after already getting the lefty specialist in Doolittle (maybe it’s his health concerns?).

1:02
Eno Sarris: Because using Doolittle as the closer opens up a lefty problem behind him. If they get Wilson, Doo can close.

1:02
Eno Sarris: I think I’d play matchups, which means Madson gets 2/3 of the saves.

1:02
CamdenWarehouse: Why is there a segment of the population that is so militant about me wanting ketchup on my hot dog?

1:03
Eno Sarris: I dunno man, but making up some new sauce name for ketchup is not the way out of this mess.

1:03
BT: TMI bro

1:04
Eno Sarris: I’m so much the king of TMI that I’m not even sure which statement this is about.

1:04
Aaron Judge’s Bank Account: I’ve developed a nut allergy from the peanuts they pay me.

1:04
Eno Sarris: “Best” contract in baseball.

1:04
Jim Lahey: You buying Alex Meyer? Only 2 pitches but he was dominant last night

1:05
Eno Sarris: I was a fan as a prospect, but I’d only use him at home if he’s not going to throw the change.

1:05
LegallyEagle: Best brewery/beer in Canada?

1:05
Eno Sarris: Bellwoods was great.

1:05
Reginald Denton III: You into Baby Driver, at least for the tunes?

1:05
Eno Sarris: First half hour among some of the best movie watching I’ve seen in years. Fell off after and the story wasn’t A+, but it was enjoyable.

1:06
DeepThroat: I have inside knowledge of brewery acquisitions involving NYC, COL, and Cali, but I can’t say anything. I feel like a dude who can break trade news but is sworn to secrecy.

1:06
Eno Sarris: They happening all the time but people want transparency in beer so let’s name all the shareholders and investors where the calories/ingredients would normally go.

1:06
Dark Truth Imperial Stout: You have a rule of thumb for deciding when you’re a buyer or seller in Keeper Fantasy?  I can Maybe make playoffs, but probably not compete for championship…I’m in the “meh” zone…

1:07
Eno Sarris: Playoffs are fine. In roto, I’m in fourth in one league and sold anything I wouldn’t keep in recent trade.

1:07
Big Joe Mufferaw: Which player has been the most “Bro” that you have met? (Not Lawrie)

1:07
Eno Sarris: Why can’t I have Lawrie I want Lawrie for this.

1:08
Boof: Correct opinion: Saves as a category is bad and makes fantasy baseball less fun

1:08
Eno Sarris: Between keeper leagues and the depth of the leagues I’m in, I have like one or two leagues to check when NEW CLOSER ALERT siren goes off.

1:08
Eno Sarris: Welp, so y’all think Donaldson is done being a star, huh?

1:09
Eno Sarris: Oh crap I’m a full page of questions behind.

1:09
Kyle: Verlander in an Astros Playoff Rotation intrigues me. Particularly if he came with a Mr. Wilson

1:09
Eno Sarris: Verlander as a three on any of the main contenders would be so awesome for them.

1:09
Dr. Funk: How do you stop dump trades in a keeper league? Or is there no stopping them?   I’m the commissioner of a league that just saw a $5 Judge go in a 7-1.

1:09
Eno Sarris: They are part of the ebb and flow of playing in a keeper league. I love them.

1:10
Matty P: Eno your chat makes me want to drink IPA’s right now but its noon and I am at work…

1:10
Eno Sarris: Same but ten am.

1:10
The Kyd: Healy – why won’t he take a pitch?

1:10
Eno Sarris: EVERY PITCH IS A CHANCE TO HOMER

1:11
Bart: Freddie Freeman or Cody Bellinger in a keeper/dynasty?

1:11
Eno Sarris: Freeman has power AND batting average and plays third base. I’d take him.

1:11
Dudas Luca: If you had to pick one east coast pitcher to have one east coast beer and one east coast sandwich with, what does this look like?

1:13
Eno Sarris: Marcus Stroman, Bellwoods Sour IPA, Cuban from down the street…
or
Aaron Nola, Tired Hands hazy IPA, best cheesesteak?
or
Thor, Threes IPA, and an Italian from a good deli?

1:13
Dr. Funk: I think its the light and funky dancing but the Francis and the Lights song reminds me of

1:13
Eno Sarris: I got a bit of a Prince without a guitar feeling.

1:13
Nick: Heading to San Francisco for a few days in October. If I only had time to make it to one beer bar, which one should it be?

1:13
Eno Sarris: Toronado’s.

1:13
John: You ever seen Calhoun in person? He’s listed as 5’9, longenhagen has him at 5’6.  Thats a small cat

1:14
Eno Sarris: Yes. I said that out loud. And then he hit one further than Bellinger.

1:14
ledwards: I’m in love with Joey Votto. That is all.

1:14
Lloyd Braun’s Freezer: Is Carson Cistulli for real?

1:14
Delino Deshields IV: I remember hearing about Kids books in this chat before and wanted to plug Hector the Collector by Emily Beeny (I’m not author, fwiw). Compares kids collecting baseball cards to museums collecting paintings.

1:15
Eno Sarris: silly but informative: our lude motto.

1:15
Steamah: If they turned the plane around every time I farted on one I’d still be trying to get to my Florida vacation from April of 1994.

1:15
Eno Sarris: …

1:15
Matt: Answer: A list of criteria one would keep in mind while making a thought-provoking and aesthetically pleasing film.
Question: What is a Kubrick rubric?

1:15
Shawn: In your opinion, what are the 80-grade sandwiches?

1:16
Eno Sarris: They include the elements of soft and crunchy, sweet and savory, and add either cream or vinegar to round it all out. They aren’t super messy, and you don’t lose the bread while you eat.

1:17
Sandy Ravage: I’m worried about Gary Sanchez’s defensive value at catcher. Do you think he moves off the position and to a primary DH or 1B role in the next 3 years?

1:17
Eno Sarris: I think they Posada him.

1:17
Porcho Villa: Who closes in DET once Wilson is dealt?

1:18
Eno Sarris: Bruce Rondon just got the eighth in a tight win. Only other option is Greene.

1:18
Mike: Seems like a lot of fantasy analysts love Pollock. His projections are for like 4 HRs and 9 SBs with a .280 BA rest of season. Isn’t that…pretty replaceable?

1:18
Eno Sarris: There are only like 18 players projected for more than 8 stolen bases.

1:18
Juice: Have you talked to Matt Chapman yet? I like rooting for players I’ve heard stories about.

1:18
Eno Sarris: No. (Me too.)

1:19
CamdenWarehouse: Shouldn’t a replacement level sandwich be one easily found in the wild, i.e. you can replace your good sandwich with something from the chain down the street?

1:19
Eno Sarris: Ah I was thinking about making them in the house, but yes, I guess Subway is replacement level for those reasons.

1:19
Kyle: I’d say a replacement level sandwich is your standard Turkey, and Swiss and mayo. Maybe throw some lettuce, and onion on there for good measure

1:19
Trip McNealy: I’m eating a sandwich with Oscar Meyer turkey, Target brand cheese, Hellman’s original mayonnaise, but the bread is lit AF

1:19
Eno Sarris: maybe that’s a one-win sando? At least one thing is good.

1:20
Babe Lincoln: How would you grade Bumgarner’s Raw Power, Game Power, and Hit tools?

1:20
Eno Sarris: 65/55/40?

1:20
Eno Sarris: Some of it could play up if he became a regular hitter, but he’d also get pitched differently.

1:20
Bryan: What’s your favorite girl scout cookie?

1:20
Eno Sarris: Samoas.

1:21
Troutmaggedon: How wouldn’t you rank Luke Weaver, Flaherty and Honeywell

1:21
Eno Sarris: Honey, Luke, Jack

1:21
Midwest: Driving from Chicago to Colorado soon with a stop in St. Louis to pick a buddy up. Float me some Beer suggestions for the random Midwest states will be driving through (Missouri, Kansas, Colorado). And any suggestions when in Denver?

1:21
Eno Sarris: Man we really need to get that beer map up soon. Crooked Stave in Colorado!

1:22
Marwin Gonzales- Power Hitter: Keuchel verse the star left handed Dodgers bats is 1.5 wins

1:22
Eno Sarris: Could be, and then you’d probably take McCullers over… the second Dodger pitcher.

1:22
BigBopper: Eno – need recommendation!  Going to NYC to see Phish tomorrow night, where should I go for beers in the afternoon??

1:23
Eno Sarris: Ginger Man. There are better breweries, but you don’t want to be too far from MSG.

1:25
MANKEY!: Is there any rational reason for me to hold onto Mike Moore?  Is there ANY chance for decent second half?

1:25
Eno Sarris: Best chance is around league average.

1:25
Matt: Re: You hoping Stanton will talk to you some day. Do you mean that you want a chance to get in front of him, or had the chance and he’s a jerk?

1:25
Eno Sarris: I can’t tell. I don’t think he’s a jerk. He’s just… never at his locker.

1:26
ImperialStout: Grade a peanut butter banana sando

1:26
Eno Sarris: 7/10? I mean, it’s really fun and I like it, but it’s also probably pretty mushy all around.

1:26
Eno Sarris: I was thinking about carmelizing the bananas in this situation, for more crunch.

1:26
Bradley: Next year am I starting or closing?

1:26
Eno Sarris: Archie? closing.

1:27
Oddball Herrera: Puig is on pace for 25+ HR, 15+ SBs, are we missing a breakout from a guy (who’s still just 26!), just because his BABIP is horrible and he previously didn’t live up to expectations?  I don’t hear much fantasy hype around the guy these days.

1:27
Eno Sarris: I’ll forever be his friend.

1:27
jjp: Arrival date of Acuna in Atlanta?

1:27
Eno Sarris: Sep 1? or like 8, whenever the playoffs down there end?

1:27
bombsquad rabbi: 1000 beers served at a Twins game = 1 Killibrew

1:28
Jolly Roger: Pirates just took the Brewers to the woodshed, and the Rockies pitching is…either decent and deep or a house of cards, and we won’t know for a month or so. How can the Pirates trade away anything now and not have a mutiny?

1:29
Eno Sarris: Good point, and the only 2018 FAs they have are Tony Watson, John Jason and Juan Nicasio. Not going to bring much back, and still sorta useful for that team.

1:29
Ampersand: I was running out of room to store beer in my apartment so I’m buying a house. Don’t tell my girlfriend that’s the real reason, though

1:29
Jay: Are there any studies out there attempting to predict which players might age well?

1:30
Eno Sarris: Jeff Zimmerman has done a ton of aging curves. What I’ve seen is players that don’t reach as much on pitches outside the zone (o-contact ages terribly) and are athletic (provide value on d/basepaths) age the best.

1:30
Keeper: Pick one as your ace for the next 4 yrs:  Strasburg or DeGrom.

1:30
Eno Sarris: DeGrom on health?

1:30
ChicagoCardinal: Do you think the Tigers would bypass Alex Wilson in favor of Greene?

1:31
Eno Sarris: Yeah I think Alex Wilson is out of the picture. Pitching in losses and nothing about his numbers (velo, K rate) says he’ll close.

1:31
Porcho Villa: BOOM JAKE LAMB 3 RUN HR

1:31
Eno Sarris: RAKE LAMB

1:31
Hannah Hochevar: People always say ‘trampoline accident,’ but how do we know the trampolines aren’t doing it on purpose?

1:32
Billy Beane: Why doesn’t Dombrowski want Jed!? It would appear to me that Jed! is a superior option to Frazier to begin with and his very reasonable option means that you can trade him again for a minor piece in the offseason.

1:32
Eno Sarris: Just not a splash, but might work if they are really going to keep Devers.

1:32
Bart: Why do players risk sliding head first and injuring their hands?  Trout, Bryant yesterday.  I don’t think they get to the bag any faster.

1:33
Eno Sarris: Most definitely get to the bag faster. Think about the physics. You’re running till the last second and pushing the top half of your body forward and down with gravity. You can even push off with your last step instead of jumping down with your feet. But yeah, it’s super dangerous.

1:33
ChicagoCardinal: Which reddit handle that broke the Quintana trade do you think has better info: wetbutt23 or Katyperrysbootyhole?

1:33
Eno Sarris: I can tell you which situation I’d rather look into.

1:34
Eno Sarris: Here’s another act I liked:

1:34
ChicagoCardinal: Saw Kamaiyah during Danny Brown. 3 WAR right now with high ceiling. Danny Brown 1.5 WAR.

1:35
Eno Sarris: Gotta go for upside at a festival. Can always get in the beer line if it doesn’t work out.

1:35
hscer: I’m moving in a couple weeks, the complex has an indoor basketball court, and I haven’t played pickup in years. how is this shaping up

1:35
Eno Sarris: Calf lifts while brushing your teeth!

1:35
CamdenWarehouse: The Orioles have been inept at developing pitchers longer than the M’s with hitters

1:35
Eno Sarris: Same issue though.

1:36
Stan: Not posting any of my questions? F**k your face.

1:36
Eno Sarris: Holy crap dude. I can get to about 10% of the questions in July.

1:36
hscer: Andrew Sarris died five years ago. There is hope for you!

1:36
Eno Sarris: Pouring one out.

1:36
Max: Is Sandy Alderson overplaying his hand? Possible Reed isn’t worth the top 75 guy they’re seeking?

1:37
Eno Sarris: Rental reliever, he shouldn’t get much more than 75-100.

1:37
Eno Sarris: And not a rental reliever like Chapman, as good as Reed has been.

1:37
MCL: re: the guy with a 100mph 4S and a 97 2s, pretty sure this is exactly what has made jeurys familia so successful

1:37
Eno Sarris: yeah his 97 mph 2s is NUTS.

1:38
Fanthead: Eno: Your music choices sometimes feel too hip, too now, too trendy–at least for my Old School tastebuds. Don’t mean to be harsh…. But the video of the pitchfork dancing dude, crossed genres and eras with its appeal and pure fun. Thank you!

1:38
Eno Sarris: Look at that dude dance!

1:38
E: Is baseball big in Jamaica?

1:39
Eno Sarris: No, not at all, not even a blip. Talked to Chili Davis about this and he was like, I got into baseball when I came to America so I could be more American.

1:39
Rockie Dangerfield: I don’t want transparency in beer; I like my porters dark, thank you very much

1:39
CubFan: How likely is it that Nate Jones now closes for the Sox in 2018?

1:39
Eno Sarris: Isn’t he hurt again? I think Swarzak might, if Clippard blows too many.

1:39
Saves Speculator: U think Reed dealt? Wondering to stash Familia on DL while holding Sewald?

1:40
Eno Sarris: I don’t think you need to hold Sewald. If he gets saves, it’s for a week or two before Familia gets back.

1:40
JimboSlice: What is your favorite sour? Looking for a nice beer to enjoy this weekend

1:41
Eno Sarris: If you can get an Almanac hoppy sour — they have more distro these days — do it. They have one out call Tropical Galaxy, I have that in my fridge right now.

1:41
Aaron: Feels like Addison Reed isnt talked about enough. 3rd RP in WAR since trade to mets in mid 2015

1:41
Eno Sarris: Slider got harder, so this could be a Warthen Win.

1:41
Billy Beane: Trying to decide if Sonny Gray would make a great pitching coach because of his ability to make up new pitches on the fly or a terrible one, because he can just make up new pitches and other people wouldn’t be able to keep up…

1:42
Eno Sarris: Yeah I think a guy like Greinke would be better as a coach. Knows the research, wants to talk pitching philosophy and theory, has struggled, developed new pitches, changed over time.

1:42
Babe Lincoln: Update on your man crush: Conforto just hit a 2B down the LF(!) line against a LHP(!).

1:42
Eno Sarris: He’s so dreamy.

1:42
Steve: they Posada him?

1:43
Eno Sarris: Play him at catcher despite middling defense, play him forever.

1:43
Mike Soroka: Will I be able to replicate my dominance of AA in MLB without an elite pitch?  How am I doing these 0.5 WHIP games in AA without good stuff?

1:44
Eno Sarris: Really good command, really good sinker. It’s true, it might not work out, but I’m a big fan actually.

1:44
Pedro De Pacas: Meaningless question about a sando followed by pointless question about favorite beer/bar for beer….Now that that’s out of the way…ROS who would you take Wilson Ramos or Yadier….Also, have to trade one  Giles, Britton, Colome, Wade…thanks and I’ll take your answer viewing screen.

1:45
Eno Sarris: hey now THAT question is full of meaning, we may figure life out right now, let me give it a looooooooooooooot of thought. Wilson. Colome.

1:45
Babe Lincoln: Re MadBum: 40 hit tool from a SP is pretty good.

1:45
Eno Sarris: Yah but still like a .240 hitter at best, right?

1:45
Babe Lincoln: Are your taste buds better than mine?  Or are you just more brazen about talking about what your taste buds think?

1:46
Eno Sarris: Dunno, bro in law says he can’t taste the words I say I taste, but if you keep trying to put words to the tastes you taste, I think you can develop the ability a little.

1:46
troutmaggedon: How does one that drinks IPAs keep off the beer gut now that said person is 34 and has a kid?

1:46
Eno Sarris: No desserts, no chips, and start thinking about that workout routine.

1:46
Eno Sarris: (I have a little beer gut)

1:47
TheHandofRod: minor quibble with the e. coast player, beer, sandwich. Nola, Tired Hands both great but instead of cheesesteak you have to go for the Roast Pork instead. Bunch of great spots but John’s Roast Pork is the best

1:47
RotoLando: Give me something to hold on to regarding JP Crawford

1:48
Eno Sarris: Better recently, still okay plate discipline? His year has given me the sads too.

1:48
ImperialStout: crunchy pb with it though

1:48
Kyle: Peanut butter banana with sour cream and onion potato chips. grade it.

1:48
Eno Sarris: uh I’ll take the crunchy PB one.

1:48
E: it’s raining and i left my windows down

1:48
E: now its pouring

1:48
E: here comes the thunder

1:48
E: RIP interior of car

1:48
Slider: If you HAD to drink a collegey beer (natty, Busch, keystone, beast, etc), which would it be?

1:48
Eno Sarris: Coors Banquet.

1:49
Mark: Is it wrong to buy a riding lawn mower for the sole reason that I can drink beer AND cut the grass?

1:49
Eno Sarris: Not if I buy cans for the shower.

1:49
AlbeinMLB?: U think Albies has the same time table as Acuna?

1:49
Eno Sarris: He seems ready, but what are they going to do with Phillips? Or play Albies at short? He’s been playing there some.

1:49
Carter: Calhoun is confusing. Why is everyone talking about him? He getting called up? I hope so. He is a little guy who doesn’t run but hits for power

1:50
Eno Sarris: Probably trade rumors.

1:50
chuck: I was curious if you’ve been following Freeman’s defense at third. Is the sample size large enough to judge on yet?

1:50
Eno Sarris: Not with numbers. That would take like two years.

1:51
Eno Sarris: .289 .373 .556 in July?

1:51
Ryan: It’s easy to criticize KC for being delusional about their playoff hopes, but the trade for JD Martinez seems to indicate they wouldn’t get much in return for, e.g., Hosmer.  So, might as well stick in there for one more shot at the post-season, then blow things up, right?

1:51
Eno Sarris: It’s not like their farm system has anything in it. The fallow time will be long.

1:53
Hannah Hochevar: I like how many early Trojan reggae bands end their name with “All Stars”

1:53
Eno Sarris: That makes these guys the All Star All Stars (Featuring Dennis Brown, Sly & Robbie, Aswad, Ini Kamoze and David Hinds as The Reggae AllStars)

1:54
Jim: Don’t worry about Stan. He’s just mad Eminem won’t write him back.

1:54
BartolosChin: Does anyone realize that Bryan Shaw is actually a bad reliever? Dude has gotten incredibly lucky at points, and his ERA does not reflect the true pitcher he is.

1:55
Eno Sarris: 400+ innings from a reliever is a pretty good sample, and I’m guessing it has to do with sawed-off bad contact on that fire 95 mph cutter that looks like a slider.

1:55
JAK: Think Xander will ever hit for power consistently? He’s got the tools to do it (I think), but his approach is geared towards slapping the ball and hitting for average. Not partaking in the launch angle revolution.

1:55
Eno Sarris: He told me “I’m going to keep doing this until it doesn’t work” so I guess he won’t change.

1:55
Porcho Villa: How long do you think it would take you to answer every single question? If two hours = 10%, does that imply 20 hours? Will you ever do a 20-hour chat since it’s the only way to avoid people chat-shouting f your face at you?

1:56
Eno Sarris: In the offseason I get much closer to like 80%. But yeah, around the trade deadline, I’d have to practically do a full day. Which… no I couldn’t. I’d have to poop at least once.

1:56
Drew: Ever had anything from Jackie O’s in Athens, OH?

1:56
Eno Sarris: Everything is so good. Mystic Mama a great tropical IPA, and the sours are great too.

1:57
Anthony: If lower arm slots are associated with lateral run, and fade is the most important attribute of a changeup, why do a lot of side -arm pitchers struggle to throw changes?

1:57
Eno Sarris: Probably because of pronating from that slot. The lower down you go, the harder it is to turn your hand towards the thumb.

1:58
Anthony: Is there any way to search platoon split leaderboards? Like which pitchers are most susceptible to platoon disadvantages without going pitcher – by – pitcher?

1:58
Eno Sarris: You could run this http://www.fangraphs.com/leaderssplits.aspx?splitArr=&strgroup=season&… for each side, but you’d have to do some excel work to get left minus right.

1:58
TJ: Somehow Eduardo Nunez was dropped the day Correa hit the DL and I was lucky enough to snag him…are these Boston rumors legit?  Would LOVE to have a SS-eligible speedster playing for the BoSox as a Correa consolation!

1:59
Eno Sarris: Nunez is going to go, I’d bet. Boston, Houston, there are plenty of places that could use him.

1:59
Porcho Villa: Who wins in a three way cage match between Jeff Wilpon, Sandy Alderson, and Terry Collins? Mets fans.

1:59
Porcho Villa: How long until we discover the sixth tool

1:59
Eno Sarris: Makeup?

1:59
Anthony: What makes Dan Straily sort of good? Can he keep doing this?

2:00
Eno Sarris: 1) Has the biggest or second biggest difference between the fastball and changeup vertically, meaning he’s combining a rising fastball (popups) with a great change (whiffs and grounders).

2:00
Eno Sarris: 2) Throws anything in any count.

2:00
Eno Sarris: 3) Has decent command and three legit pitches.

2:00
Eno Sarris: I think he can be league average, slightly better, for a while, yes.

2:01
KingKenta: I am opening a noodle shop in silverlake with limited space for beer. What are some sick cans that you like that pair well with food?

2:02
Eno Sarris: Firestone Walker Easy Jack won’t crowd your food out. Cucumber Crush from 10 Barrel would give you a nice tart and fresh option. Something bigger for the IPA crowd: Breaking Bud from Knee Deep?

2:03
Eno Sarris: I don’t think a ton of the LA beers are in cans, for what it’s worth. Wouldn’t want a ton of Golden Road, for instance.

2:03
Eno Sarris: You could, of course, throw some San Diego beers in there. Like an AleSmith X instead of Easy Jack.

2:04
ChatzMcGee: Do you have a favourite player page whose stats you most enjoy marveling at? Mine is Ted Williams, also Joey Votto (and Greg Maddux).

2:04
Eno Sarris: Barry mofo Bonds. Look at all that black on BR.

2:04
CubFan: My question was if Jones was closing in 2018? Swarzak is a FA next year.

2:05
Eno Sarris: Oh sorry woops. Yeah I guess so, but man is that dude fragile.

2:05
Ice Cubicle…: I’m so tired of the Texas pen. Claudio closing now?

2:06
Eno Sarris: Research has shown that velocity and strikeout rate matters, and research aside, have you watched Claudio? I can’t imagine him closing for me. If not Bush, and he just pitched (badly) in a blowout, LeClerc.

2:06
jj: Pedro – love looking at his page

2:07
Eno Sarris: OH man I made it to the end! I also have work to do and went over two hours!

2:07
Eno Sarris: Thanks everyone!

2:07
It’s Physics: You don’t get to the bag faster by diving headfirst.

2:08
Eno Sarris: okay later everyone!

Due to volume this didn’t get a response. I’d welcome anyone’s thoughts or insight. This is my first season in a dynasty league and I’m having a hard time getting comfortable with valuing future draft picks when trading. It’s a H2H Pts league and we keep 10 player w/ no restrictions. With Robertson heading to NY, I’m exploring upgrading at RP. I have Neris, so I could slid him into that spot as an option. I have an offer on the table for Godly (who I can roster as a RP w/ no innings issues) for a pick swap – My 4th for his 11th. I wouldn’t be keeping him next season so this would just be for a playoff push. I’m having a tough time trying to assess the value of my pick in this deal.

I like Godley but I wonder if he’s a real ‘difference-maker’ for your fantasy team. Particularly since you’ve said he’s not a keeper, I think I’d either sit tight with what I have, or ask your trade partner offer up either a better quality player than Godley or add another good-but-not-keepable asset to make it worth your while to sacrifice some future.

I’d be asking for an underrated Jimmy Nelson, or maybe Aaron Nola who has been awesome the last month and projects as a #2 SP assuming health.
