Eno Sarris: I mean Samardzija got Russell, so is Seager crazy? And yet, the dodgers probably won’t do that. So maybe more of a quantity package with Holmes, Verdugo, Lee — whatever non Urias pitchers the Tigers like. They’re not afraid to pick exactly what they like despite any rankings.

Tired of getting no 3B production out of Sandoval and Tomas. I’m looking at Castellanos, Aramis, or Kang on the wire. What do you think?

Eno Sarris: The last couple of months for Tomas are pretty much what I expected to start: 4% walks, 25% strikeouts, league average ISO. I might take a shot on Kang over Tomas in a redraft, at least he might steal bases and we know a little less about what Kang would do with a regular job.

Eno Sarris: He’s great. Really great, because he has average to above-average velocity, plus plus command, plus change, and decent curve. He pitched in college last year, so he actually had 170 innings. He won’t have a hard cap, but they may skip him a few times if they want to keep him to 180-200.

Hatched an idea: LAA and LAD reverse previous trade (w/ sweetener for LAA). Guerrero, Kendrick, Zach Lee for Andrew Heaney. LAA has 6 SP and sub-replacement options at 2B and 3B. Need to option Heaney or force a vet to the pen anyway. LAD gets cost-controlled SP3/4 to bolster rotation now+future. Solid at 2B with Olivera, Kike Hernandez.

Eno Sarris: This is pretty funny and even not crazy except that Guerrero’s contract is a poison pill, he becomes a free agent at year’s end if traded.

Eno Sarris: But it was more years of Price. Listen, every GM has their own opinion, or we’d see a ton more trades. If de Leon was the main piece, I’d want a better second piece.

Why do you love Soler so much? Outside of his first two weeks last year, the league has clearly adjusted and he hasn’t.

Eno Sarris: Dude’s batted ball mix is totally unlike last year, so he’s clearly made an adjustment. He hits the ball harder than 90% of the league, and hits it up the middle. I think it’s just a little recognition/when to swing thing, which, yeah maybe he’s needing to make another adjustment there, but it’s one he made in the minors. He’s a beast, still, in my eyes, and a great dynasty buy low.

What’s your take on Yordano this year? I can’t really see anything in his numbers that suggest he’s doing anything different from 2014, but then again Ned Yost has probably never heard of FIP either…

Eno Sarris: He’s underperforming his stuff *and* getting a little unlucky, which is a strange combo and hard to analyze correctly. I’d be a cautious buyer in keepers but not with a strong offer.

Eno Sarris: Jeffress more velocity and a righty, just about as many holds. Will more Ks and a lefty. It’s close, but Will owned more often, so I wanted to point out JJ is an option.

Eno Sarris: Also, K-Rod seems most likely closer to be traded. Paps has a bad contract, Ramos is cheap. Clippard the other one, I’d take Pomeranz there despite being a lefty.

Eno Sarris: Pitching, because of learning a pitch, is highly variable from year to year. And I’ve been yelling about Gausman’s breaker for a while. The curve could be it, we’ll see.

In addition to not fully understanding why the Guerrero poison pill can’t just be waived or contracted around, I also don’t understand why it “kills” his trade value. He’s kind of an unknown/upside acquisition anyway. Would a team prefer getting additional 2yr/10m guaranteed or prefer him as a rental? I think it could go either way, and doesn’t drastically alter my Heaney for Kendrick/Guerrero/Lee idea.

Eno Sarris: Sure, it can be negotiated around. I just think it makes it less likely, because it’s another hurdle. And despite his good work, I don’t think an analytically inclined front office is targeting a 28-year-old bad-glove righty with that plate discipline. Your deal makes some sense, though, since he’s not a central piece. It would also be fun as hell to write about.

Eno Sarris: Carrasco has had more innings in his career, more innings in one season, more innings last year.

In a H2H league I need a catcher (non-keeper). Dude has Gattis and wants my Kris Bryant. I have Justin Turner as a backfill. On the surface this doesn’t seem fair but Gattis is basically a DH so the counting stats are great for a catcher. What say you?

Eno Sarris: Interesting: Ten catchers projected for more PA going forward than Gattis, but only one with more PA to date (Posey). Must be factoring injury in. If you give him more PA going forward, to match what he’s done to date, you’re only giving up four or five SBs and maybe ten points of batting average in the trade. It’s defensible. I probably wouldn’t do it because I would just go find a catcher and enjoy my really good third baseman.

Eno Sarris: Latos seems to be a common ask here. He’s looked better since he returned from DL, with velocity up a bit, and K-BB okay. I like Nola a lot, but I’d only really make the jump if I was bottom half and needed to go for lightning, or in a keeper league.

Wilmer Flores has a bad BABIP over nearly 200 games. What is it in his batted ball profile that leads him to such a low BABIP? Or is it a matter of luck?

Eno Sarris: One thing he does really badly is pop the ball up a ton. Almost twice the league average. That’ll kill your BABIP.

Eno Sarris: Also, he’s bad.

Eno Sarris: I doubt anyone takes that lovely Burnett Chavez package, but if someone needed SP depth and had a ton of closers… I might sell low on Ross. I do think he can pick it up, but maybe it’s just easier for hitters not to swing when they know it’s one of two pitches.

Eno Sarris: A little upgrade in the win now category without much of a step back, maybe even an improvement with Gomez to Machado. I like it.

Eno Sarris: Only worry pitching is if it’s H2H and Harvey only gets to 180 or so, or gets shut down if they fall out.
