Eno Sarris: Well, a few things happened that are worth watching. He put on 4mph of gas, and who knows if that can continue. That has helped his K%, so his projections in that cat are low. Also, I saw AN Erasmo Ramirez pitch in winter ball, and he wasn’t good, and I’m STILL not sure which Erasmo that was. And it might have been one game is all. I wrote about him, and there are some issues (curve sucks, slider is only average), but I like what he’s got going and he was 92-94 in rehab.

9:03	Eno Sarris: Well this is interesting! I thought they were protecting Wacha’s innings for this role, but if they called up C-Mart now, must mean that Wacha is next in line. I’d drop Nolasco for him actually. More upside. I don’t hate Nolasco, but I just see downside there, especially away from home.

9:08	Eno Sarris: I think we know what he is. I’d say his floor is higher than Ramos’. Ramos could be a powerless .265 hitter. But Ramos’ ceiling is higher, since he’s shown better BAs. Talking fantasy, not real. Wieters overall is a great real-life catcher imo.

9:09	Eno Sarris: I hurt that muscle, got a cortisone shot, and was good in about a week actually. They called it a pitchers’ injury, but for me it was from typing/carpal tunnel issues.

9:12	Eno Sarris: There are a ton of great beer bars in the gaslamp, so you’ll be set. Try the Ballast Point, Green Flash, Societe, Alpine and Port Brewing beers. They don’t all have great distribution and are, for the most part, insanely good.

Eno Sarris: Slightly overworked by postseason innings, with some fatigue that is making him miss his mechanics a bit, causing him to lose a tiny bit of command that is turning pop outs into home runs. I wrote about it and stand by it. I think he’s not far from who he normally is. Look at his K and BB numbers.

Eno Sarris: Well, there are 20 names on the list. If they are announcing this before appeals, one appeal can take a month. I’m not saying this will take 20 months — they could combine cases, and read Wendy’s article today about the nuclear option — but I’m inclined to believe this will take a while and the MLBPA will fight tooth and nail. There’s too much He-Said-He-Said in this.

9:23	Eno Sarris: We’re updating once a month, about, but we’ll add search to the leaderboards very soon. As for checkin numbers, I don’t think it works with our agreement with data providers. But you can sort by wOBAR if you don’t want to have the most popular beers at the top.

Heyward only has 21 3-hit games in his career. He just rarely has that “big” game. Do you think that hurts his value, as he seemingly must be incredibly consistent to put up good numbers without the occasional big game to boost things? Or, just totally random fluctuation, and we should expect regression?

9:43	Eno Sarris: I think he has been fairly consistent. Also, is that number really that low for a guy with his PT?

9:44	Eno Sarris: His velo is down from above 94 to below, and that’s a dividing line actually. He could expect a few more homers. Still, his stuff is great. I think he’ll be great the rest of this season.

9:45	Eno Sarris: The quickest any stats become stable is about 50 PA, and gb/fb stuff is 150 PA. So you want to wait a couple weeks if they are swinging less or more, at least a month if they putting the ball on the ground more.

Eno Sarris: Define it and it becomes absurd. “An RBI is when a batter makes contact in the field of play (unless you’re talking a foul out), and makes less than two outs and a runner on base scores. Add in extra rules about whether or not the fielder tried to throw to the right base in the case of fielder’s choices.” Basically, what are you measuring? You’re measuring how much contact a player makes and how good his teammates are. There are better measures even for those skills.

9:59	Eno Sarris: Hitters, I like to look at K% (relevant to batting average, stabilizes fairly quickly) and GB% (relevant to power and batting average, stabilizes fairly quickly). For pitchers, swinging strike rate and BB% and GB%. Oh, also fastball velocity.
