Tony Blengino is making everyone else at FanGraphs look like they are writing for NotGraphs.
I don’t think Tony Blengino needs to worry about his financial situation anymore, because he just struck podcast gold.
Fun podcast, Carson (and Tony).
It’s funny, as a Mariners fan, a couple of player comments really stood out. The one about Miguel Olivo and how much area of the “pie” is consumed by negative stuff so that you can’t make even a useful video game player (“maybe even as a catcher”) out of that skillset, it REALLY struck me how much and how long ago Tony Blengino was marginalized in the M’s FO. Tony obviously didn’t just come up with that point of view yesterday…yet the Mariners went out and got Miguel Olivo in spite of what he MUST have been telling them (and I’m sure he wasn’t saying Olivo’s defense was going to make up for his offensive deficiencies) just a little less than three years ago. And if I am not mistaken, had to exercise an option to keep him around a second year.
I always enjoys fangraphs audio and Carson is always great. However, this podcast was THE BEST.
I cannot imagine a world where Tony Blengino is not a MLB GM at some point in the very near future — until then, he must be a weekly guest with Carson on the podcast.
