re: child care, I have a three-month-old, and about two months ago my wife and I were watching a nature documentary featuring panda babies, which are basically naked rats that die off at a prodigious rate. My wife said something to the effect that they were the most helpless dumb babies in the world and they shouldn’t logically survive.
This was like the day before her parents came from California to New York, and my mom came from Alaska to New York to help us take care of the dang kid.
From observing my friends’ kids, the line between two children and three is stark because of this: with two kids, they can only ever be in one fight with each other. But with three kids, you have three potential fights going on. With four kids, the number of simultaneous fights goes up to six.
