re: child care, I have a three-month-old, and about two months ago my wife and I were watching a nature documentary featuring panda babies, which are basically naked rats that die off at a prodigious rate. My wife said something to the effect that they were the most helpless dumb babies in the world and they shouldn’t logically survive.

This was like the day before her parents came from California to New York, and my mom came from Alaska to New York to help us take care of the dang kid.
