Job Title: Intern, Professional Scouting

Report to: Manager, Professional Scouting
Location: Jupiter, Florida
Job Classification: Hourly/Non-Exempt

Position Summary: Support the Professional Scouting Department, Baseball Operations, and Professional Scouts by working closely with the Professional Scouting Manager in creating & maintaining department systems & processes throughout the season. Responsibilities include but are not limited to those outlined below.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in the creation & maintenance of documents regarding assigned coverage and assigned targets throughout the season.
  • Aid in ad hoc projects regarding Spring Training, scheduling, the trade deadline, and free agency as needed.
  • Provide critical analysis of daily transactions and incoming scouting reports.
  • Proactively provide insightful thoughts to improve department systems, initiatives, & processes.
  • Provide additional technical support for Professional Scouts.
  • At the discretion of & assignment by the Professional Scouting Director or Professional Scouting Manager, the Professional Scouting Intern will have the ability to attend Florida Complex League, Low A Southeast League, & Miami Marlins games & complete reports for development.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Strong work ethic with strong attention to detail.
  • Understanding of the role of Professional Scouts and the scouting evaluation process.
  • Accessible and has the ability to communicate effectively with scouts and other baseball operations personnel.
  • Ability to work extended hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays throughout February – October 2022.

Suggested Education & Experience:

  • Familiarity with and interest in Scouting.
  • Completed or in the midst of pursuing an undergraduate degree
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Preference to exposure to Trackman/Bats, SQL Server, Tableau, and/or R
