Position: Baseball Operations Associate Analyst
Reports To: Baseball Operations Analyst

Location: Minor League Affiliates (Sacramento, Richmond, Eugene, San Jose)
Position Summary:
This individual will travel with a minor league team and provide on-site analytics and technology support serving staff and players while helping to implement key organizational initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess technical skills, the ability to communicate effectively to non-technical people, and both passion and intellectual curiosity for the game of baseball.
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide statistical analysis and quantitative research to support the affiliate coaching staff
- Execute advance preparation and after action reporting
- Conduct research for ad-hoc requests from coaches & staff
- Assist in the construction and update of player plans throughout the course of the season
- Utilize technology and information to assess player strengths and areas of development
- Distribute and provide analysis for various daily, weekly, and monthly reports
- Identify noteworthy player trends to notify PD leadership
- Help player development staff track progress toward player and organizational goals
- Educate coaches and players on relevant baseball analytics topics
- Support on-field needs, including but not limited to operating technologies like Trackman Portable, Blast, Rapsodo, Trackman
Position Requirements:
- Understanding of current baseball analytics topics
- Experience with SQL, R, or Python
- Experience with current player development technology such as TrackMan, Rapsodo, Blast Motion bat sensors, or K-Vest
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to speak Spanish is a plus

Position: Senior Software Engineer
Reports to: Principal Engineer, Baseball Systems

Position Summary:
The San Francisco Giants Baseball Engineering team is seeking an experienced senior data engineer that will impact the Giants’ major league and affiliate teams. You will architect data infrastructure & systems, build tooling, product enhancements, and work with a team of baseball minds to evolve our baseball systems. We are looking for a candidate with a passion for technology and curiosity for baseball analytics, who will research and develop new solutions to enhance our applications.
You will be instrumental in helping to define, implement, and iterate the robust data infrastructure required to produce actionable insights enabling management to make informed decisions on players and acquisitions rooted in advanced analytics.
This position is responsible for engineering leadership within the organization, with a heavy focus on data. Join a tight-knit group of software engineers that are helping to build the future of the Giants.
Position Responsibilities:
- Shape the future of the Giants’ baseball platforms
- Work on projects from conception to completion including building prototypes
- Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of all baseball systems
- Build and maintain web/mobile applications, core software components, and ELT pipelines
- Work closely with the Baseball analytics and data science teams to build out data workflows
- Test, deploy, maintain and improve software applications
- Provide excellent customer support for all our baseball systems
Technical Skills/Experience:
- Cloud Computing: Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, or Microsoft Azure
- General purpose programming languages: Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, SQL, or Go
- Databases/stores: Google BigQuery, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Redis
- Web application frameworks: Django, Flask, Angular, React, or Bootstrap
- Distributed systems / data processing frameworks: Dataflow, Spark, Kafka, Kubernetes, or Docker
Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field or equivalent practical experience
- 4+ years of relevant work experience, including development and/or test automation experience
- Good knowledge of algorithms and fundamental computer science concepts
- Strong communication skills and great product sense
- Significant experience in system design as well as scaling systems
- Strong quantitative abilities and existing knowledge of baseball analytics
