NERD Game Scores: Surprise Meeting of Corey Kluber Society

Devised originally in response to a challenge issued by sabermetric nobleman Rob Neyer, and expanded at the request of nobody, NERD scores represent an attempt to summarize in one number (and on a scale of 0-10) the likely aesthetic appeal or watchability, for the learned fan, of a player or team or game. Read more about the components of and formulae for NERD scores here.

Surprise Meeting of the Corey Kluber Society
The Purpose of This Post
The purpose of this post is to announce an impromptu meeting — in this case, at 7:10pm ET tonight (Tuesday) — of the Corey Kluber Society.

About the Society
The Corey Kluber Society (or, frequently just “the Society”) is an organization composed of individuals all bound by their singular enthusiasm for the works and days of Cleveland right-hander Corey Kluber.

A Very Brief History of the Society
The Society transcends time. Its past exists in the future; its future, the past. For this reason — and for other obscure ones which require decades of contemplative study — any chronicle of its history is necessarily very brief.

How to Attend a Meeting
Bathe in the uncreated light. Either that, or observe Kluber’s start by way of MLB.TV. One or the other.

On the Agenda
The agenda for today’s meeting (subject to change) is as follows:

1. Welcome, announcements, etc.
2. High-fives and down-lows. (Too-slows forbidden after recent incident.)
3. Report from the Subcommittee on Sump-Pump Manufacture and Repair.
4. Meal: Toblerones and danger.
5. Digestif: ancient rainwater.
6. Postprandial banter.
7. Observe as Kluber gleams the cube of existence.

How to RSVP
Abandon all vanity posthaste.

Readers’ Preferred Broadcast: Cleveland or Tampa Bay Radio.

Two Other Brief Notes
Today’s Free Game
Today’s free game features St. Louis at Chicago NL, starts at 20:05 ET, and can be accessed by means of this hyperlinked text.

Broadcaster Rankings
Recently, the present author facilitated a crowdsourcing effort to reproduce the broadcaster rankings which appeared on this site roughly four years ago. The results from that effort are published here in one easily digestible post.

Complete Schedule
Here’s the complete and very sortable table for all of today’s games. Pitching probables and game times aggregated from MLB.com and also the rest of the internet. Note that calculations both for team and game NERD scores feature adjustment for postseason odds that increases as season progresses. Read more about those adjustments here and here.

Half the time I don’t know what you’re saying, but I still enjoy reading it.
