Cancelled: FanGraphs Phoenix Meetup: March 13

In light of the continued spread of the coronavirus (and out of an abundance of caution), we’ve decided to cancel our March 13 Phoenix meetup. We’re sorry to miss everyone, and the number of confirmed cases in the greater Phoenix area is still quite small, but we’d hate to get our readers together and then have any of them, our staff, or the folks at Angel’s Trumpet get sick.

We hope to see you at other FanGraphs events later in the year!

Announcing FanGraphs Live! New York

The offseason is almost upon us, which is sad, so we’re hosting a reader event at SubCulture in New York City on Thursday, November 21 to help get through the long winter months. The evening will feature drinks, plenty of time for mingling, and a fun slate of not one, not two, but three panels staffed by FanGraphs writers and our friends from around the game, plus audience Q&A.

The panel lineups are below. Ringer staff writer and Effectively Wild co-host Ben Lindbergh and I will emcee the proceedings to make sure no one misbehaves too badly. And while we hope you’ll join us live, if you can’t, don’t fret. The panel program will be released as an episode of Effectively Wild.

Major League Update
Jay Jaffe and The Athletic’s Lindsey Adler and Marc Carig.

Baseball by the Numbers
Craig Edwards and MLB.com’s Mike Petriello

UMP: The Untitled McDongenhagen Panel
Eric Longenhagen and Kiley McDaniel

Doors open at 7 PM; the event will kick off at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $35. FanGraphs members will receive $10 off each ticket purchased — a coupon will be automatically applied if you are logged in when you purchase.

Tickets can be purchased here.

We hope to see you there!

FanGraphs Saberseminar Boston Meetup: Tonight!

Saberseminar, the excellent annual baseball research conference, kicks off this weekend and that can only mean one thing: it’s almost time for FanGraphs’ Saberseminar meetup at Meadhall in Kendall Square! As we have in years past, we’ve reserved space on the bar’s mezzanine level and ordered some tasty snacks to share. We’ll kick things off tonight at 7 p.m., just in time to have a beer and watch the Red Sox take on Mike Trout and the Angels.

Event Info
Friday, August 9th from 7 to 10 p.m.
Meadhall, Upper Mezzanine
90 Broadway, Cambridge, MA

In addition to many of Saberseminar’s presenters, there will be a number of FanGraphs folks in attendance, including Jay Jaffe, David Laurila, Rachael McDaniel, David Appelman, Sean Dolinar, FanGraphs alum Paul Swydan, and yours truly. It should be a fun evening of good beer and good conversation, and we hope to see you there tonight. Until then, please enjoy this GIF of Mookie Betts being charming.
