Combined FanGraphs and BeerGraphs Meetup

BeerGraphs — a website devoted to the analytics of beer — is now alive. Very soon it will have sortable leaderboards and everything. And it’s been too long since we had a FanGraphs meetup anyway, so let’s do another one. Where better to have a top-flight beer and watch some good baseball than the Public House attached to AT&T Park in San Francisco? Please come and talk baseball (or beer) with our merry band:

June 7, four until ?, Public House at AT&T Park, San Francisco

Eno Sarris (FanGraphs, BeerGraphs)
Howard Bender (FanGraphs)
Wendy Thurm (FanGraphs)
Steve Berman (Bay Area Sports Guy)
Grant Brisbee (SBN)
King Kaufman (Bleacher Report)
Patrick Newman (NPBTracker)
Ian Miller (Productive Outs)
Adam Cacioppo (BeerGraphs)
Aram Cretan (Freewheel Brewing)
Rob Conticello (Clandestine Brewing)
Adrian Kalaveshi (Clandestine Brewing)

With a phone full of pictures of pitchers' fingers, strange beers, and his two toddler sons, Eno Sarris can be found at the ballpark or a brewery most days. Read him here, writing about the A's or Giants at The Athletic, or about beer at October. Follow him on Twitter @enosarris if you can handle the sandwiches and inanity.

If you hit up Chicago, I’ll bring some tasty beers to share. Heady Topper?

This is exciting due to baseball and friendship. Prepare to be awkwardly interacted with as I drink beer nervously.

Just think how awkward it’d be without the beer.

In this line. Prepare for me to loosen up and be social for the hour and fifteen minute window directly preceding my inevitable beer-driven decline

Oh man, I move out of the country for 3 years on June 10, I’m going to have to do everything I can to get there. Beer!

I don’t visit Bleacher Report very often. But from what I know of it, is it safe to assume that King Kaufman is terrible?

Sky

Not in this case!

ian

Totally unsafe to assume that. King rules. (heh.)

There is a Public House in Chicago where you pour your own beer right at your table. Every table has a 3 tap tower with 2 beers and 1 liquor. It is pay per ounce. It was pretty awesome. When I saw this, I thought it might be a chain. Eveidently it isn’t.

KM

I’ve seen a few tap systems like that in Philly. It’s a great concept, I’ve just never found one that poured beer I wanted to drink…

That was the issue here too. Most tables had one American Lager/ Light, one “Premium” distributed by the same company (e.g. Budweiser & Stella), and a liquor. They did have an extensive craft beer list at the bar, but that took the fun out of it. Thus, I searched and found the one anomaly; a table with Bell’s Brown Ale.

I’m noticing that the M/9 (males per 9) of this so-called “merry band” is a robust 9.0. any chance we can extend the invite to Jaymee Sire, or perhaps Erin Andrews for some national coverage of the event? After all, it is 2013, and I’m pretty sure we’ve evolved from the McGwire-Sosa “chicks dig the long ball” days to “chicks dig underlying peripherals as more accurate predictors of future performance,” am I wrong? Speaking of which, that would be a great t-shirt…

Do your kids prefer scotch or bourbon, and what are their opinions on Slayer?

Philly! We have Monks Cafe, widely considered a top 10 place for beer nationwide. Food isn’t too bad either. Now we just need the Phillies to stop being so old and over paid.
