Information: Who Is and Isn’t on the Red Sox
A Note on What’s About to Happen
What’s about to happen — or, depending on when you’re reading this, what has happened already — is the Red Sox and Dodgers are going to conduct business with each other. Adult-type of business. Serious adult-type of business.

A Note on the Aforementioned Business, What’s Unclear About It
So far as the serious and aforementioned business is concerned, it’s not entirely clear — to the author, at least, who necessarily serves as the reader’s surrogate in such matters — it’s not entirely clear who’ll be on the Red Sox after the business has been conducted. Like, on the Sox’ 25-man roster.

Regarding Who’s Not on the Red Sox Anymore
As of this afternoon, here are the players who’ll no longer be on the Red Sox, it seems: Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford, Adrian Gonzalez, and Nick Punto.

Regarding Who Is on the Red Sox, Probably
As of this afternoon, here are the players who will be on the Red Sox — or at least within the Sox organization: middle-infielder Ivan De Jesus, right-handed starter Rubby de la Rosa, first baseman James Loney, corner outfield-type Jerry Sands, and right-hander Allen Webster.

Regarding the Red Sox’ 25-Man Roster, Though
Three of the players traded to Dodgers — Beckett, Gonzalez, and Punto — were on the Sox’ 25-man roster, which means the Red Sox have three vacancies to fill on same. James Loney already was on the Dodger 25-man roster, which suggests he’ll join the team immediately. The other four players coming to Boston, however, were all in the minors as of this morning — and all appear headed there, for the time being, within the Boston organization.

Regarding the Red Sox’ 25-Man Roster, Continued
If breaking news is to be believed, the Red Sox have filled the remaining spots on their 25-man roster — for the present, at least — with players from their system. According to the internet, shortstop Jose Iglesias and outielder Che-Hsuan Lin are likely to be recalled.

Today’s Notable Games
Houston at New York NL | 13:10 ET
Starting opposite R.A. Dickey (who requires zero introductions) in this contest is left-hander Fernando Abad, a thing that’s notable insofar as Abad has recorded 81 major-league appearances — including 30 this season, already — without every starting before. Here was his line as a reliever: 23.1 IP, 22.0% K, 5.0% BB, 48.6% GB, 2.98 SIERA, 89 xFIP-, 0.0 WAR.

Readers’ Preferred Broadcast: Either Houston or New York NL Television.

San Diego at Arizona | 20:10 ET ***MLB.TV Free Game***
Jake Elmore is the player who’s received the bulk of the starts, it appears, in Stephen Drew’s absence. His (i.e. Elmore’s) numbers so far: 25 PA, .174/.240/.217 (.182 BABIP), 20 wRC+. And, actually, two other of his numbers: 2 BB, 1 K. By which second group of numbers the author intends to communicate that Elmore has a strikeout rate of 4.0% and had only of only 10.6% in 511 plate appearances at Triple-A Reno.

Readers’ Preferred Broadcast: Arizona Radio.

Today’s Complete Schedule
Here’s the complete schedule for all of today’s games, with our very proprietary watchability (NERD) scores for each one. Pitching probables and game times aggregated from MLB.com and RotoWire. The average NERD Game Score for today is 4.5.

Note: the following Game Scores include the poorly conceived playoff-odds adjustment discussed in a recent edition of Daily Notes. Also note: the following table is entirely sortable.

Josh Beckett probably won’t be the starter for Boston, given his not being on the team. It’ll be Aaron Cook.
