Three Notes
• The leaderboard now contains 20 of the 33 first-round picks from the most recent draft.

• Yankees draftee, third baseman Eric Jagielo, is the only player among this year’s first-round picks to have played at two levels thus far. After having been assigned initially to the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League, Jagielo was promoted shortly thereafter to Staten Island of the Low-A New York-Penn League.

• The highest level to which any of this year’s first-round draftees has ascended is Class A. Tim Anderson (SS, Chicago AL) and Jason Hursh (RHP, Atlanta) are playing in the Sally League; Chris Anderson (RHP, Los Angeles NL), in the Midwest.

Today’s MLB.TV Free Game
Houston at St. Louis | 20:15 ET
Bud Norris (109.0 IP, 108 xFIP-, 2.1 WAR) faces Adam Wainwright (133.2 IP, 72 xFIP-, 4.4 WAR). Of note: after years of posting walk rates in about the 6-7% range, Wainwright has recorded just a 2.5% mark this season. Of other note: Houston appears recently to have promoted outfielder Marc Krauss. In 213 Triple-A plate appearances, the 25-year-old Krauss had recorded a 43:45 walk-to-strikeout ratio and nine home runs.

Readers’ Preferred Broadcast: St. Louis Radio.

PHI vs. PHI
[insert wittier joke about brotherly love than I can currently muster]

I’m actually a little disappointed not to be watching that HOU game tonight. It sounds modestly interesting (more so if the Astros win).

I’m seriously starting to miss the Astros being in the NL Central. I’ve been to so many games with them as the visiting team over the years that they’re like part of the family. And I definitely hope that they beat the Cardinals because I’d rather see the Pirates win the division. (Mostly because I love their ballpark.)
