Very Sortable Table: Arizona Fall League Rosters
Regarding Yesterday, A Thing That Was Announced During It
A thing that was announced yesterday — via some manner of stone tablet and/or atop some manner of rocky peak, one assumes — was the preliminary rosters for this year’s Arizona Fall League, or AFL.

Regarding the AFL, What It Is, Again
The AFL is a league composed of myriad top prospects that takes place (geographically speaking) in the Greater Phoenix Area and (chronologically speaking) over October and November. This year’s schedule, for example, runs from October 9th until the November 17th championship game.

Regarding What the Author Has Done
What the author has done is to publish a sortable table of all presently known AFL-bound players, including both the AFL and MLB parent club for each one. Also, for the greater convenience of the reader, each player’s name includes a hyperlink to his FanGraphs player page.

Regarding the Six AFL Teams and Their Corresponding Stadia

St. Louis at Washington | 19:05 ET
After losing to Pittsburgh by a score of 5-0 on Wednesday night (box), St. Louis now has just a one-game lead over the Pirates for the second wild-card spot. Left-hander Jaime Garcia, who has been excellent in two August starts (14.0 IP, 57 xFIP-, 0.5 WAR), faces the East-leading Nationals. Drama, is the thing the author is attempting to convey.

San Francisco at Houston | 20:05 ET ***MLB.TV Free Game***
Actual thing of note: during his last start, Astros right-hander Jordan Lyles averaged 94.6 mph on his four-seam fastball — this after sitting mostly around 91-93 mph earlier in the season. A thing to discover in this game is whether the velocity gain is real or merely the product of a too-enthusiastic PITCHf/x system at Citi Field.
