Let’s face it, I’ve drawn some pretty tough lineups in my first three starts. Am I piecing it back together start by start, or are O’s fans clutching at straws?

The starters Oswalt would potentially be bumping haven’t even been the issue so far this year.
The Red Sox bullpen, as a unit, is also sporting a .358 babip and a 20.8% HR/FB rate and further the teams they’ve faced this year are Detroit, Toronto, Tampa, Texas and NYY, each of whom has an above average offense. The bullpen may not be great, but it’s not nearly as bad it has looked.
They’ve also got a number of relievers likely to come back soon as well as Dice-K (1st rehab start tonight) or Cook who might bump Bard to the pen anyways. I’m not opposed to signing Oswalt if they’re certain he’s healthy, but if they have any reservations then I don’t fault them for saving their money.
