Effectively Wild Episode 1442: The Generous Tipper
Ben Lindbergh and Sam Miller banter about Sam’s thoughts on Clayton Kershaw, Joe Kelly, and Dave Roberts, Tyler Glasnow’s pitch-tipping, Gerrit Cole’s strikeout streak, and the future of the Rays, the Astros-Yankees and Nationals-Cardinals championship series matchups, and whether it ever makes sense to predict a postseason sweep or a series lasting the maximum number of games.
Audio intro: Avey Tare, "Tipped in Hugs"
Audio outro: The Bees, "Sweet Like a Champion"

It was weird listening to your points about the Rays BP (as BP are almost all volatile) seguing into you’d feel comfortable with a bunch of CY young guys, when the Rays ALSO have a bunch of CY contenders – Morton, Snell, and Glasnow plus high-upside potential in McKay and extremely solid depth in Chirinos and Yarbrough. It’s not like the Rays only relied on their BP – the entire pitching staff is excellent. I don’t see that changing next year (indeed, the pitching probably gets better…have you seen the depth on the 40 man and upper minors?). It’s the hitting that is always the question with the Rays.
