Eno Sarris: Still in San Diego! Stay warm and dry, bay area. Scherzer. I think that elbow will go sometime soon for Tanaka, and there just hasn’t been any indication that Scherzer’s injury prognostications are going to come true.

Eno Sarris: No. I’m not as anti the trade as some. The wild card is Grandal’s PED suspension. And as you can see in the Forst interview, teams like SD and OAK have a hard time attracting FA bats. So here they get an impact bat. I think they also liked Rivera.

I can’t figure out the Mets. They know the fans aren’t stupid right? Grandy and Cuddyer is not getting us to the stadium and certainly not moving them into contention. Are they putting too much on players like Noah, Matz, Nimmo, Conforto, and Reynolds to come up and really move the needle for them?

Eno Sarris: I just think they’re trying not to be the team with the biggest free agents — they’re not shopping all the way in bargain bin, they’re buying mid-range guys. Free agency sucks.

Giants assistant general manager Bobby Evans told Eno Sarris of Fangraphs.com that Jon Lester will not be signing with his club.
“We did not receive a rose,” Evans said. It’s not surprising after Evans indicated earlier Tuesday that the Giants were in the “back seat” as far as Lester goes. While the Dodgers haven’t officially been ruled out for Lester at this point, it appears that this is going to come down to the Red Sox and Cubs. Lester could make a decision later Tuesday.

What’s reasonable to expect out of Miley? I find him generally underwhelming, and a 4th or 5th starter, which the red sox have plenty of already.

Eno Sarris: I think it’s a weird rotation in general. I don’t see an ace. But it’s deep and the offense should be good. I might like Miley a little more — the change and slider combo is good, and the K boost came from using fastball less — but I really thought they’d try to get an ace.

In a 10 team league, How confident would you be that you could win by abstaining from the 1st 5 rounds of the draft and then selecting your entire roster at the end of the 5th round. I’m in a bet with 9 friends where I get to choose the round and my odds (for gummy bears of course) shift depending n the round. Deciding somewhere in the 5-7 range.

Eno Sarris: That’s going to be tough because in a shallower league, the RL is really high and you might miss out on all the stars. I’d confidently do it with three rounds. Five is the most I’d try. They’d have to give me odds.

Eno Sarris: Has to be a decent sized bench so that you have the space to put guys in and out. Ottoneu is perfect.

Eno Sarris: I’ll take Paxton because that system penalizes homers and Baltimore vs Seattle. Velocity is about equal and Paxton’s offspeed stuff has been better so far.

Eno Sarris: I think they’re right there. And since they have so many young guys, the variance is on the right side of the ledger. If a guy like Bryant comes up and mashes right away, that’ll change things.

Eno Sarris: Right now, it really looks like it. But career 47 wRC+ against lefties, I think they’ll find a platoon partner for him. If they don’t, his overall numbers will go down but his counting numbers will look nice. Could steal 50 if he starts every day.

So a mid-rotation guy for a flawed starting 2b? Why is everyone so sure the Marlins got got? Even if Gordon sometimes needs a platoon caddy and is more .250/.310, he’ll probably be above-average compared to the league overall.
