Eno! Explain what is going on at these winter meetings.

12:01
Eno Sarris: Madness.

12:02
Eno Sarris: Also: second wild card means everyone wants to compete now.

12:02
Comment From Killa Cam
Did the Tigers just give up a great glove for a bad pitcher? What do you make of that?

12:02
Eno Sarris: Eh, Simon has a good splitter and cutter and okay sinker, I think he can be a number five, and they needed the depth.

12:03
Comment From Eddy
How much do the Marlins have to overpay for this alleged Mat Latos deal to look bad? I really like him on the Fish and it seems like they have to try hard to mess it up.

12:04
Eno Sarris: They didn’t pay much and they got Latos for a year. I think the Marlins will be competitive this year. They did it quickly too.

12:04
Comment From Los
Any trades happen since yesterday? I haven’t been paying attention.

12:04
Comment From John Stamos
I hope you’re not suffering the windy bay right now! Dynasty question – would you rather have Masahiro Tanaka or Max Scherzer? Injury questions made this one tougher for me.

12:05
Eno Sarris: Still in San Diego! Stay warm and dry, bay area. Scherzer. I think that elbow will go sometime soon for Tanaka, and there just hasn’t been any indication that Scherzer’s injury prognostications are going to come true.

12:05
Comment From Sam
Thoughts on the McCarthy deal?

12:06
Eno Sarris: I wouldn’t focus too much on the four years because if you just think of the money outlay, he can miss time and still be worth that money IMO.

12:06
Comment From Ian
That’s quite a haul for Simon, right?

12:06
Eno Sarris: People are excited but it’s a glove-first guy and a probable reliever, no?

12:06
Eno Sarris: (glove only?)

12:06
Comment From mtsw
If MLB was a fantasy league you were commissioner of, would you veto the Kemp trade?

12:08
Eno Sarris: No. I’m not as anti the trade as some. The wild card is Grandal’s PED suspension. And as you can see in the Forst interview, teams like SD and OAK have a hard time attracting FA bats. So here they get an impact bat. I think they also liked Rivera.

12:08
Comment From Scott
Thoughts on Rex Brothers if he gets moved to Mets? Does getting out of Colorado help?

12:09
Eno Sarris: Sure but velocity loss and bad command… Eh. If they ship Gee out, it’s for salary relief to make up for the $8m or so they spent on Cuddyer. I don’t think Gee gets you much back.

12:09
Comment From Pale Hose
The next market inefficiency is not knowing who is on the roster. #Dodgers

12:09
Comment From Ryan
Tigers trading for Alfredo Simon – not a very SABR-friendly front office? Or are they just looking for 180 innings of not-Buck-Farmer?

12:09
Eno Sarris: They in win-now mode and wanted a cromulent fifth guy.

12:10
Comment From CecilFielder
Eno great piece this morning the David Forst. Reading that was awesome but made me think (in reference to the question about looking for fly ball distance guys)- do you ever think we give billy beane credit for things he actually wasnt looking for? Forst kind of said they dont look for that…

12:10
Eno Sarris: If you look closely at that answer, he basically said there was something *else* about those hitters that they liked. I mean, we’re just trying to figure out what they’re doing, we don’t *actually* have a bug in their office.

12:11
Comment From Sadwick
Update: Everyone was just traded for everybody. Reports say everyone else is chipping in some money. I personally think they all got fleeced, while all of them made out like bandits.

12:11
Comment From Scott
I can’t figure out the Mets. They know the fans aren’t stupid right? Grandy and Cuddyer is not getting us to the stadium and certainly not moving them into contention. Are they putting too much on players like Noah, Matz, Nimmo, Conforto, and Reynolds to come up and really move the needle for them?

12:12
Eno Sarris: I just think they’re trying not to be the team with the biggest free agents — they’re not shopping all the way in bargain bin, they’re buying mid-range guys. Free agency sucks.

12:12
Comment From eno is the new edward murrow
Giants assistant general manager Bobby Evans told Eno Sarris of Fangraphs.com that Jon Lester will not be signing with his club.
“We did not receive a rose,” Evans said. It’s not surprising after Evans indicated earlier Tuesday that the Giants were in the “back seat” as far as Lester goes. While the Dodgers haven’t officially been ruled out for Lester at this point, it appears that this is going to come down to the Red Sox and Cubs. Lester could make a decision later Tuesday.

Eno Sarris: I just liked the joke.

12:13
Comment From Art Vandelay
Are the Marlins gambling on Latos loss in velocity just being a side effect of injury? Is it possible he gets those 2 mph back or are the Marlins just making trades to make trades?

12:14
Eno Sarris: I think he was good enough with velocity loss that you’d rather have 2014 Latos than 2015 Desclafini.

12:14
Comment From Marty
What’s reasonable to expect out of Miley? I find him generally underwhelming, and a 4th or 5th starter, which the red sox have plenty of already.

12:15
Eno Sarris: I think it’s a weird rotation in general. I don’t see an ace. But it’s deep and the offense should be good. I might like Miley a little more — the change and slider combo is good, and the K boost came from using fastball less — but I really thought they’d try to get an ace.

12:15
Comment From Art Vandelay
To be fair, I am very excited to watch the Marlins next year. Hell, I enjoyed watching them this year.

In a 10 team league, How confident would you be that you could win by abstaining from the 1st 5 rounds of the draft and then selecting your entire roster at the end of the 5th round. I’m in a bet with 9 friends where I get to choose the round and my odds (for gummy bears of course) shift depending n the round. Deciding somewhere in the 5-7 range.

12:16
Eno Sarris: That’s going to be tough because in a shallower league, the RL is really high and you might miss out on all the stars. I’d confidently do it with three rounds. Five is the most I’d try. They’d have to give me odds.

I’m not one to propose imaginary trades, but wouldn’t Noah Syndergaard for Jurickson Profar make a lot of sense for both sides?

12:18
Eno Sarris: Profar might need shoulder surgery still. I guess I’d do that, but the medicals might scuttle it too. And I’m no doctor.

12:18
Comment From John
even the astros are making moves. Why is Sandy too scared? and if you want to blame the Wilpons, ok, why won’t the new commissioner force them out the way Selig did with LA?

12:18
Eno Sarris: Wilpons are Selig cronies. Old buddies. Sucks. Scared? We’ll see.

12:19
Comment From Honus Wagner
It looks like the Reds are finally selling, do you think Jay Bruce gets moved now?

12:19
Eno Sarris: I remember a quote on Reds saying they were all in or all out and it certainly doesn’t look like they are all in…

12:19
Comment From Mooty Betts
Why no talk of Cliff Lee in a trade to Boston? Would he potentially cost less than Hamels?

12:19
Eno Sarris: Because of his elbow?

12:19
Comment From dbet
Do you think the Dodgers will make any moves? It’s been a slow offseason for them

12:19
Comment From J. Peterman
What are Josh Rutledge’s odds of starting at 2B in 2015? Better than 75%?

12:20
Eno Sarris: I guess they’re bringing back Beckham too, but they need a partner for Freese at third, so yeah I’ll give him those numbers. But outside of Colorado I fear for his fantasy value.

12:20
Comment From Art Vandelay

So did all of the GMs go out with you for beers and decided to get crazy?

12:21
Eno Sarris: No but I did get snarky remarks about beer from a lot of front office guys. Guess I’m the beer guy now. Watch me do my beer dance. DANCE MONKEY DANCE

12:21
Comment From Perplexed
What are the Padres thinking?

12:21
Comment From MIke
Is the Kemp trade really that bad? Is this going to define Preller as a bad GM?

12:22
Eno Sarris: I just don’t think it’s that bad. They’ve had no trouble getting defenders from their system, but impact bats haven’t been there for them.

12:22
Comment From Curious
Any idea who might be taken in the Rule 5?

12:22
Eno Sarris: The A’s are definitely taking someone. They couldn’t keep the glee off their faces. They want someone.

12:22
Comment From Marty
can you try to explain what the dodgers are doing in a couple sentences? I honestly have no idea.

12:22
Eno Sarris: Concentrating on 2015.

12:23
Comment From Phillies113
What’s more exciting: Winter Meetings, or the trade deadline?

12:23
Eno Sarris: Meetings because clean slate, full of hope, and everyone’s doing something.

12:23
Comment From here goes nothing
Do you think Oakland is sitting pat on LF with a Gentry/Fuld platoon, or is there something out there to be had? Along with 2b and back half of rotation, it’s the only obvious spot to improve. Related: why are there so few good LFs in the league right now?

12:23
Eno Sarris: I think Lawrie will end up at second and the A’s will sign a third baseman.

12:23
Comment From Pat
In daily leagues, do you place more value on splits? Upgrade a lefty, who hits righties well, and downgrade a righty that mashes lefties, but is just okay against righties

12:25
Eno Sarris: Has to be a decent sized bench so that you have the space to put guys in and out. Ottoneu is perfect.

12:25
Comment From Fabio
Could you compare and contrast Kevin Gausman and James Paxton for Ottoneu points?

12:25
Eno Sarris: I’ll take Paxton because that system penalizes homers and Baltimore vs Seattle. Velocity is about equal and Paxton’s offspeed stuff has been better so far.

12:26
Comment From Sadwick
Sorry Eno, I have to go. I was traded to another chat for a commenter to be named later and lude considerations.

12:26
Comment From Bill
What’s your sense of other moves to come? Are there any blockbusters bubbling?

12:26
Eno Sarris: Hamels is dangling. I’m sure they’re just asking Ruben to eat money if he wants prospects.

12:26
Comment From What do the Cubs still need to do to seriously challenge for the division this season? Sounds like theyll probably add Lester buddies/veterans Gomes and Ross. Will they try to deal prospects this year for a big bat or another top of the rotation pitcher?
What do the Cubs still need to do to seriously challenge for the division this season? Sounds like they’ll probably add Lester buddies/veterans Gomes and Ross. Will they try to deal prospects this year for a big bat or another top of the rotation pitcher?

12:27
Eno Sarris: I think they’re right there. And since they have so many young guys, the variance is on the right side of the ledger. If a guy like Bryant comes up and mashes right away, that’ll change things.

12:27
Comment From MIke
SD Toronado v SF Toronado?

12:28
Eno Sarris: SF. Because it smells bad and the people are mean and it’s dingier and darker. Does that make sense?

12:28
Comment From Walt
what is desclafini’s upside?

12:29
Eno Sarris: Okay velocity, good breaker, change has been okay but he doesn’t trust it yet. Want to see if the whiff rate holds up after throwing more changes or he might be a reliever.

12:29
Comment From Ryan
I dont know about everyone else but i seem to really like what the dbacks got in de la rosa and webster for miley, thoughts on the deal?

12:30
Eno Sarris: I love Webster, y’all know that. Great changeup. Okay sinker, maybe he should turf the bad fourseamer. Good breaker. The problem is people really don’t like his body language and think he can’t even get Lincecum command. I’ll have some deep league shares. Rubby is better but health riskier. I think it was a good return.

12:31
Comment From Art Vandelay
Now the Marlins get Rienzo? uuuuhhhh…

12:31
Eno Sarris: That’s weird.

12:31
Comment From Los
At this point I’m expecting the Dodgers to trade a player they don’t even have.

12:31
Eno Sarris: I think they did. I saw the Heaney to Angels deal go official before the Dee Gordon trade.

12:31
Comment From Con
Do you fellas from Fangraphs ever get interest from MLB clubs to join their front offices? There is some very talented people amongst you.

12:31
Eno Sarris: We’ve lost a few guys already.

12:31
Comment From John
Gee is Wade Miley, no? And look what that got Arizona

12:32
Eno Sarris: Without looking, how much velocity separates the two? And age?

12:32
Comment From Snarfle
Scott, put your Mets pessimism aside. They just signed John Mayberry Jr.!

12:32
Comment From Jake
Eno, I heard Dodgers traded a loaf of white bread to the Tigers for some rye. Can you confirm?

12:32
Comment From Ryan
Does it get harder for Friedman to maneuver once word gets around that he’s been pulling off these great looking deals? Do other GMs start asking for more to avoid getting “ripped off”? (also, is that why he made all his moves within a ~6 hour window?)

12:32
Eno Sarris: Friedman already had that reputation and he pulled these deals off.

12:33
Comment From Snarfle
Is there anyone who Andrew Heaney was traded for that’s better than Andrew Heaney?

12:33
Eno Sarris: Howie Kendrick in 2015 alone.

12:33
Comment From Matt
True or False: Masterson wouldn’t be successful as a SP in the AL unless he learns a changeup/splitter. Should have went to Tampa and talked to Cobb.

12:34
Eno Sarris: I know he gets trotted out as a guy that succeeded without a change, but his career hasn’t been easy, he wishes he had a change, and he has an elite slider. You can’t do what he did without an elite slider.

12:34
Comment From Jake
With all the signings by the Cubs where does that leave Wada? Trade or long man in the bullpen? Just inked him to a one year deal

12:34
Eno Sarris: Swing.

12:34
Comment From Snarfle
Let’s get some early predictions going. How many times in the first month of the season will you say, “Oh yeah, [PLAYER] is on [TEAM] now”?

12:34
Eno Sarris: My bet is on Heaney and three times.

12:35
Comment From Sadwick
The Royals just signed Kendrys Morales to a 2 year $17M deal, $18.5M with incentives. Butler signing looks way better in comparison.

12:35
Eno Sarris: It’s like they just took the Butler deal to Kendrys without thinking about the drop in talent.

12:35
Comment From Ned Yost
What is the likelihood that Jarrod Dyson is one of my starting OF come opening day? What would you expect from Dyson if he was a full-timer in 2015?

12:37
Eno Sarris: Right now, it really looks like it. But career 47 wRC+ against lefties, I think they’ll find a platoon partner for him. If they don’t, his overall numbers will go down but his counting numbers will look nice. Could steal 50 if he starts every day.

12:37
Comment From Booby Bonilla
Does Lee stay in Philadelphia? If so, why?

12:37

Eno, what has been the best beer you’ve had in San Diego so far?

12:38
Eno Sarris: Had an IPA from Jeff Bagby called Dork Squad (on the beach!), had Societe The Pupil, had Cascade Sang Royale, had Alpine Hoppy Birthday. Can’t choose.

12:38
Comment From Snarfle
Some real Forst-Nxion stuff there Eno. A little forst? I’ll see myself out.

12:38
Comment From John
but selig is gone! cant the wilpons be gone too?

12:38
Eno Sarris: We can dream.

12:38
Comment From Jay
Hey Eno, I know that Markakis are N. Cruz are flawed players and there is strong reason to have not signed them to the contracts they received but don’t the O’s have to make some move. I mean…give me somethin’.

12:38
Eno Sarris: Mike Morse?

12:39
Comment From LarryA
If you give Dee a line of .280 50sbs, 85 runs, isnt that still a 3rd rounder

12:39
Eno Sarris: I’d guess .250 and fourth/fifth rounder.

12:40
Comment From Bobby
Was Heaney a big overpay for Gordon?

12:41
Eno Sarris: I like the shape of Heaney’s change. I think it might be good. But his velocity is already below average for a righty. Not sure he’s an ace. So a mid-rotation guy for a flawed starting 2b? Why is everyone so sure the Marlins got got? Even if Gordon sometimes needs a platoon caddy and is more .250/.310, he’ll probably be above-average compared to the league overall.

12:41
Comment From ooboo
take a guess at A’s next move – FA signing or another trade? pitcher or position player? If you’re right (on both), I’ll buy you a delerium nocturnum cuz that’s the best beer ever for now! (or tall beer of your choice – great Frost interview)

12:42
Eno Sarris: Position player. But Beane and Forst both admitted to me how much easier it was to talk pitchers into signing. Could try to sign a pitcher and trade a pitcher for hitting.

12:42
Comment From enooooooooooo!! Mayberry to the mets, does this mean hes on the 40-man. If so…METZ

I tried to talk myself into Lowrie at 3/$30 for the Mets and be done with it. IF they think they need to upgrade at SS, I think he's the best option out there. But then this…

12:42
Eno Sarris: I mean they already have an okay bat bad glove option at short too.

12:42
Comment From LarryA
Do you actually dink all those beers from your drunken BG article in their entirety? I the same age as you and 1 bomber or 2 pints in, im wasted

12:43
Eno Sarris: I had all day and into the night, 12 hours. But you saw the madness I descended into.

12:43
Eno Sarris: (and some were tasters, many actually)

12:44
Comment From Marty
What should MLB do to get small market teams like the Mets and Yankees more involved in the hot stove?

12:44
Comment From Phillies113
Chase Utley has said for a long time he wouldn’t waive his no-trade rights, but do you think he’d reconsider now that Rollins has been moved? The Angels are close to home for Chase, and they suddenly need a 2B. Think there’d be any interest?

12:44
Eno Sarris: Not a bad idea.

12:45
Comment From SteveV
WHAT….. Heaney is a lefty and MLB says…..Heaney’s fastball sits in the low 90s, and it reaches 95 mph regularly.

12:45
Eno Sarris: Phew. I forget handedness sometimes. That makes his 91 mph average… average for a lefty.

12:46
Comment From Marty
And YOU get a player! And YOU get a player! And YOUUUU get a player!!

The Marlins have acquired righty Andre Rienzo from the White Sox in exchange for lefty Dan Jennings, Miami announced. What is this trade about?

12:47

Comment From Ghost Hands
Rule 5 is done… Oakland didn’t take anyone. Texas did take DeShields though.

12:48
Eno Sarris: That’s kind of exciting actually. Means he has to play in bigs, and he has a little bit of power, some speed… interesting.

12:48
Comment From CecilFielder

12:49
Eno Sarris: Keuchel.

12:49
Comment From Jim
The fact that the Rollins trade hasn’t been announced has to mean they are working on Hamels right? And then the Dodgers sign Scherzer.

12:50
Eno Sarris: I want to laugh but nobody should laugh this might happen. (I have not heard anything.)

12:50
Comment From Eddy
2 years/$14 million sound like a fair deal for Morse from Marlins? If they nab him, are they instant wild card contenders?

12:50
Eno Sarris: Might already be.

12:50
Comment From Matt

Comment From Dave
what is the projected rotation for the Cubs with Lester now in CHITown? Lester, Arrieta, Wood, Hendricks, ???

12:54
Eno Sarris: Jackson? Straily? (I still like Straily)

12:55
Comment From John
if the royals kept Butler, you all would have trashed the deal, but now that beane has him, and a couple of weeks have passed, its a great deal!

12:56
Eno Sarris: 1) We are not an ‘all.’ We are different people with different ideas.
2) My piece was about Butler’s fit on Oakland. Couldn’t have written that if he went to Royals.
3) 3/30 is a small deal these days and I like small deals because FAs suck.

12:56
Comment From dbet
Kendrys Morales’ agent must be very good. How does he keep getting all this money?

12:56
Eno Sarris: Scott Boras is pretty good. Talked for like two hours and a 100 reporters ate it up. I passed on the BORASCRUM.

12:56
Comment From SteveV
How can you get 6 yrs of a #1 starter talent for 1 yr of Kendrick?

12:57
Eno Sarris: Because Heaney isn’t established yet and because with the second wild card, this coming year counts more than the years after it.

12:57
Comment From John
true story, morales and bulter are virtually indistinguishable the last 2 seasons and are projected to have the same WAR next season

12:58
Eno Sarris: That surprises me. I’d rather have the younger Butler. And guess what, we’re talking about one year and what seven million bucks? yeah I’d pay that for the younger guy.

12:58
Comment From STiVo
Dodgers just traded Brett Butler for Randy Milligan

12:59
Comment From Sirras
Orioles took Logan Verrett in the Rule 5 Draft. That’s some sort of move…

12:59
Comment From Foul Bunt
Cascade doesn’t really count if it’s a PDX brewery, does it? I guess Alpine is from Alpine, but it’s SD Co.

12:59
Eno Sarris: Oh you wanted me to talk SD only? I had a hard root beer from Mission that was… exactly like root beer, so pretty impressive.

1:00
Comment From That Kid From Ahlington
People are ripping the Red Sox brass for essentially trading Lester for Porcello. At least they got something for him right? Better that than he walking for the compensation pick alone.

1:00
Eno Sarris: You can’t ignore the timeline. You can’t say the Athletics turned Russell into Semien, it doesn’t work that way.

1:00
Comment From Ringtone Composer
What will the Marlins do with batting order? Gordon, Yelich, Stanton…? Low OBP for Gordo, but seems like every old-school type would hit him first because SPEED.

1:01
Eno Sarris: Yeah I think that’s going to happen.

1:01
Comment From Guest
With Porcello gone, does Shane Greene start in Detroit? Limited sample, but you got to love that above average sinker, cutter, slider, and changeup.

1:02
Eno Sarris: Yeah I think I was wrong about Greene in my first look. Change has promise, and he’s going to start throwing more high fourseamers. I think he can be fantasy relevant, decent pitcher for Tigers.

1:02
Comment From Pat
do you think the Dodgers are done makign offensive moves? Seems like they have really given up a lot of power the lineup had so far to compensate for better defense.

1:03
Eno Sarris: I think they spread around the power, there’s no real power sinkhole and Grandal, Kendrick upgrade them at those positions.

1:03
Comment From Marshawn Lynch
what article is he referring to about you drinking tons of brews?

1:04
Comment From gump
what’s the ettiquete on asking for beer tasters at a bar? recently saw a friend taste 4 before ordering and i didn’t even know that was possible. is it like an ice cream store, where it’s ok at every bar to have a few tastes before ordering?

1:04
Eno Sarris: Bar to bar and worth asking because nothing sucks like having to finish a beer you don’t like.

1:05
Comment From Bruce
Does Delino Deshields now have to spend the entire season with the Ranjers? Also do people call him Bop Jr?

1:05
Eno Sarris: Unless they put him on the DL, yes. (they should)

1:06

Re: The question about the Cubs rotation. You forgot Jason Hammel.

1:08
Eno Sarris: Ah yes it’s him. Your long local Edwin Jackson nightmare is over.

seriously, what exactly are the braves doing at this point? and why is john hart so insistent on pitching prospects when we really need position prospects?

1:09
Eno Sarris: Actually yeah if there’s a team plan I don’t get it’s the Braves one. I mean sure I can understand years of Miller over one year of Heyward, but yeah why does the Upton deal have to net pitching too?

Why would the Yankees hand Ellsbury a blank check, go for Beltran for 3 years and then nickel and dime or not even make an offer to guys like Russell Martin and Dave Robertson?

1:10
Eno Sarris: guess they liked Miller over Robertson, but you would think you would have heard more from Yankees by now yes

Confused about the Butler/Morales comp: Butler is steamer projected for 1.4 WAR and Morales only 0.3 next year.

1:11
Eno Sarris: Phew. That makes more sense to me.

Speaking of pitch type stats: After how many pitches do things like SwgStk% and GB% rates stabilize?

1:11
Eno Sarris: Don’t know yet, have to run that. But I’ve reasoned it out in my head that 100-150 pitches is decent (because it’s 150 PA for K%).

Could a low-level prospect lottery ticket nab Tyler Clippard?

1:12
Eno Sarris: They might prefer lower ceiling closer to bigs but it seems like he’s attainable.

Should the Padres turn around and package one of their pitchers for another good lineup piece to team up with Kemp?

The A’s traded for Canha, seems like a decent 1B type….the one position they’re already flush with.

Does 25-year-old Rick Porcello resemble the 25-year-old Josh Beckett the Red Sox traded for following the 2005 season?

1:15
Eno Sarris: Not really because of strikeouts. I like Porcello but I don’t think he’s an ace. Perhaps that’s not important. Just get good pitchers. But then you think about the postseason…

When teams deal a guy like Haren who said it’s LA or retirement.. does the acquiring team talk to him or his agent or is it just a total gamble that he won’t retire and will play for your team?

1:16
Eno Sarris: I don’t think you can talk to another team’s players without permission. And it looked like they didn’t know what would happen.

1:16
Comment From Guest
If Haren retires can he just resign with the Dodgers at a later date?

1:17
Eno Sarris: Pretty sure this can’t happen.

What is A’s biggest need now and can you spin a quick trade idea for it?

1:18
Eno Sarris: I think it’s third base. There are still free agents there.

1:18
Comment From Joe
The Marlins probably want Haren to retire. If he does, the Dodgers give theMarlins the $10M anyway (plus another player) and the Marlins can use that money to sign a hitter, which they said they would do.

The Orioles took a guy in the majors portion of the rule 5 draft who has never played above High-A. Is making baffling Rule 5 selections the new market inefficiency?

1:21
Eno Sarris: I think you can bring in a guy to spring training like this, maybe he can be a backup or a reliever, and if you like him but want him in minors, you offer something, or you hand him back. Low risk, and you get a free look under the hood. (dirty)

Back to my A’s question. You asked Forst about position vs category. What category or stat do you still think they need? Also, Lawrie has elite D at third. You think his bat projects better at 2b?

1:25
Eno Sarris: Beane admitted to me that his flexibility in position was part of the reason they liked him, so I’m reading between lines. That was about power as a need specifically.

O’s took Logan Verrett with THEIR rule 5 pick but traded cash for the high A guy (Jason Garcia) who was Astros’ R5 pick, but Orioles still have to roster him like any other R5 pick afaik.

wade miley trade still having fits: “@SteveGilbertMLB: Dave Stewart on RedSox deal “We’re still squabbling about the extra player. If we get through that than we’ll be OK.””

1:28
Eno Sarris: So apparently Stewart is crazy. He was an agent and tried to poach Jason Grilli from Sheffield. Sheffield started a fight late night in the hotel but Stewart’s a black belt and laid him out. Now Stewart’s a GM but HIS WIFE is running the agency so he could sign a client of hers and pay his own family.

rule 5 is mostly a waste of time but, other than Johan, there’s: jose bautista; alfredo simon, josh hamilton, joakim soria, dan uggla, shane victorino, jayson werth and RA Dickey.

Eno Sarris: There we go. But some of those guys had to lose even more and find new teams after the rule 5.

Has anyone ever used the phrase “horsing around” to refer to something that should have happened? It’s like the 50’s version of “shit got real”.

Saw your Tweet about being a fan of the Dbacks Miley deal since you like Webster. Still, the Dbacks now have about 11 starters for 5 spots. A little redundant?

You’re the right guy to ask: do you know any beer people, preferably without any baseball expertise? I’m looking to add diversity of opinions to my front office, and I like brewskis.

Beane says Wendle is average to above average in every tool. Is there a current MLBer that currently fits that description?

The chat app appears to be not working.
The scroll bar is stuck at the bottom, and when you scroll up it only goes back to “15 minutes ago”.
If you click on “Read More” nothing happens. Stuck with only the last dozen or so posts.
Also there is no way to expand the view, so we can only see maybe 2 or 3 posts at a time which makes it really hard to read because the scroll bars NEVER work. When you get to the bottom and see the “X New Messages” alert, the scroll bar gets stuck, then the page auto jumps to and auto-scrolls down to the very end of the chat so you lose your place AND the scroll bar is still stuck at the bottom. Frustrating.

Is there another format that you guys can use for chats?
