Eno Sarris Baseball Chat — 12/5/13
11:44 |
: See you in fifteen!
|
12:01 |
Bear in mind Should be easy. |
12:01 |
Happy Repeal Prohibition Day, Eno! |
12:02 |
|
12:02 |
Oh, cool. While convincing myself to love Will Smith, I found the Oliver five-year projections box on player pages. This changes … some things a little bit. |
12:02 |
: Those are pretty awesome.
|
12:02 |
Seriously, the winter meetings are going to be pretty pointless now, right? |
12:02 |
: Yeah now I’m not as excited to go… just kidding, I’m working on two pieces that aren’t so much about breaking news. And it’s a big bar meetup anyway.
|
12:03 |
What does Ubaldo get on the open market this offseason? |
12:04 |
: Crowd says 4/50, I think it could be 4/60 actually, given some inflation in market. I’d be a little scared if I was an AL team giving him four years. Not exactly the healthiest, even if the splitter might give him more years of good work.
|
12:04 |
Would you rather spend a day on the beach with Dave Cameron and Jeff Sullivan wearing bikinis + thongs that are 3 sizes too small or waive Mike Trout in a keeper league? |
12:04 |
It’s last week ago. I’m a Nats fan. I ask you “Lombardozzi, Krol and Ray for Fister, who says no?” Do you: a) ignore the question, b) reply with snark, c) say the Tigers, or d) other. (Cameron’s answer: “B, and then some mocking.”) |
12:04 |
HEY ENO HOW COME MARSHMALLOW ISNT N REGRESSION |
12:05 |
: Killer opening interlude.
|
12:05 |
The AL Central is looking like it’s finally trying to compete with the East and West. Now if that pesky Cleveland team could sign a pitcher, that’d be fun… |
12:05 |
: They absolutely need to sign a pitcher. I like Kluber and Salazar, but they need more.
|
12:05 |
Thinking about keepers: Victorino before Jennings? Lawrie before ARam? (no prices, 5×5 H2H) Thanks! |
12:06 |
: Lawrie before A-Ram for me, just based on age and worst case scenarios. I think I still take Jennings’ age and upside, but Victo’s last season makes that one a pick em if you want.
|
12:06 |
Dutton says Royals are still in Beltran. Is the the end for Lorenzo Cain again? How would he look in a Mets uniform? Would like it much better overpaying for the shell of Curtis Granderson. |
12:07 |
: I dunno. Is Aoki really a center fielder? unsure. But Beltran can’t DH all the time in KC… if it happens, yeah, Dyson and Cain, only one of them is going to have regular playing time. #gordontothird
|
12:07 |
Thanks for chatting, Eno! I know it doesn’t mean as much as traditional media lets on, but which spot in the Royals’ batting order makes the most sense for Aoki? |
12:07 |
: Leadoff, no? I don’t see why not.
|
12:07 |
Any chance I open up the madoff wallet to pay for Tanaka now that the posting fee is only $20 mil? If not, do you see any dark horse candidates with the new changes? |
12:08 |
: Nah, I doubt it. 3/45 with an option, hopefully team option, on Grandy probably. Maybe a small signing for SP5. And then they done, save a non-tender MiLB invite. I’d invite Kalish, Axford… Turner lol.
|
12:09 |
Who would you prefer, Alex Wood or Drew Smyly now that he is slated to start again? |
12:09 |
For 2014 (cost being equal – 5×5 H2H), would you go with Masterson, Cashner, Medlen, Tillman, Porcello or Alex Wood? |
12:10 |
|
12:11 |
You buying Moore’s moves for 2014? They still don’t have enough SP or bats to really contend do they? Is Aoki as a 1 year rental really any upgrade over Maxwell/Dyson? |
12:11 |
: Aoki’s probably an upgrade, but no I don’t love his moves.
|
12:11 |
Hey Eno. Cano goes to ____ for ____? |
12:12 |
: Yanks, more money than Ellsbury, less than Cano wanted.
|
12:12 |
Is there any chance at all that Robbie Ray is some sort of stud pitching prospect held in really high esteem league wide, and us amateurs just all missed the boat? |
12:12 |
|
12:13 |
Would you rather have Gomez or Beltre in a keep 8? |
12:13 |
: Damn they should both be kept. Probably Beltre, unless it’s a super deep league with five outfielders. Just on position and reliability and batting average.
|
12:13 |
Have you ever tried to save a very deep dynasty with a lot of manager defections. Have a 24 team league, with 40 man minor league rosters that I’d hate to punt. Any advice? |
12:14 |
: If it’s close to half, you’re screwed. If it’s like six or something, you can do it. I think you just need to find a friend group that wants in so you can get a crew all at once.
|
12:14 |
If the pirates sign no stud free agent (ha!) first baseman would the platoon of tabata and lambo (alternating 1st and RF with Gaby Sanchez) be a complete black hole or approximate the middling numbers from 2013? |
12:15 |
|
12:15 |
What are your thoughts on Jose Abreu vs Matt Adams in a keeper? Both are draftable and I’m planning on targeting one or the other for my CI spot. (H2H 5×5) |
12:16 |
: I think Abreu can .275 with 25-30 homer, and Adams is about the same. I think Adams is the safer choice (although his batting average could plummet since he pulls the ball on the ground a ton and got shifted), but Abreu has a bit more upside in that park.
|
12:16 |
Billy Hamilton tools + Adam Dunn tools = (billam dunnilton) 8, 9, 10 WAR? |
12:17 |
: That’d be kind of awesome. Could he switch hit? And would he refine those tools? Because there’s a window there where he could switch hit with power and patience and still hit .240 and make bad plays in the outfield lol.
|
12:17 |
General baseball question: does good command imply good control? Can you have good command with bad control? |
12:18 |
I am officially finished college as of yesterday! What beer should I toast with? |
12:18 |
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/6984/39090 Although that’s mean. Just have a good cheap IPA from your locale lol. Save the cash for the next year of joblessness. God I’m such a downer. Have a good day!
: oops . DAve: |
12:19 |
: Howard: I think it’s usually the other way around, you can have good control but bad command, implying that you can put the ball in the zone, but then are hittable in the zone because it goes down broadstreet sometimes. if you had good command, you could put it where you wanted. Maybe sometimes you’d put it outside the zone on purpose and it would look like you had bad control?
|
12:20 |
Do you think Brad Lincoln could make any kind of impact for the Phils? Better than signing Mujica right? |
12:21 |
: I mean Mujica is a good pitcher, but I have some worries. For one, that’s big money for a guy that had shoulder fatigue last year. Also, two years. Also, that’s now a TON of splitfingers in one pen. Does that matter? I wonder if it’ll make both of them more hittable. Uehara and Mujica throw the pitch more than their fastball, and nobody else does.
|
12:21 |
: Oh, Lincoln. Eh, projecting releivers is nigh impossible. That’s one takeaway that I didn’t really emphasize in my non-tender piece: relievers are the non-tenders that are better deals.
|
12:21 |
has anyone, to your knowledge, used classification statistics (such as k-means clustering) to predict a player’s output? — something akin to identifying players with similar minor league and/or college numbers to predict their mlb career? |
12:22 |
: Mostly seen that with pitch classification, but have wanted to do this with baseball players for sure.
|
12:22 |
CLAP! CLAP! CLAP CLAP CLAP! CLAPCLAPCLAPCLAP! E-NO! |
12:22 |
I played a game of OOTP as the Astros and I traded J.D. Martinez for a bag of beans and he became a ~3.0 WAR/Season player. |
12:22 |
those are some nice lyrics for a mets fan |
12:22 |
: Luded
|
12:23 |
So how good is Will Smith going to be as a starter. Is that increase in SwStr% soley due to the fact that he moved to the pen? How much of a problem is it that he didn’t throw many change-ups last year? I want to like him but it doesn’t look very realistic that he will last in a rotation, even a bad one like Milwaukee currently has. |
12:23 |
: Worried about that. He has bad splits. Maybe they see something they can fix with the changeup.
|
12:23 |
How much of Choo’s improvement last year is attributable to the Reds lineup/ballpark? How big of a fantasy impact will there be if he lands on a bad team in a bigger park (Mariners) vs. a better team in a smaller park (Tigers, Orioles) |
12:24 |
: Sorta big for him, actually. He was practically same hitter, park gave him a homer or three. Yanks would be awesome. Orioles.
|
12:24 |
A lot of people seem to hate the Aoki trade for the Brewers. Aoki is a good player, but nothing amazing and at 31 so he’s probably not going to get better. Smith is only a reliever, but was a starter in the minors and has 6 years of control. Overvaluing Aoki, undervaluing Smith, or spot on? |
12:24 |
: Feels like they could have gotten a smidge more. Smith looks like a reliever to me.
|
12:24 |
To what extent should changes in batted ball type (LD%, GB% up with FB % down) be taken into consideration when explaining a rise in BABIP? |
12:25 |
: Very much so. Especially since batted ball rates stabilize faster — you can believe them in smaller samples. LD is tricky, that’s a hard stat and it’s done by eye and has a lot of noise in it. But if a guys GB/FB has changed significantly and so has his BABIP, you might regress it less heavily to the mean than you would otherwise.
|
12:26 |
Is Ellsbury destined to haunt the Yankees for years to come? Is signing free agents really their only plan at this point? |
12:26 |
: Top 10 draft picks have a much better outcome than the lower rounds, and they haven’t figured out the Cards’ magic of drafting lower-ceiling more-likely-to-be-productive guys to fill in the problem spots.
|
12:27 |
Would Daniel Murphy be of any interest to the Dodgers in a deal for Andre Ethier? He came up as a 1B/3B. If so, would Dodgers be willing to throw in any cash? |
12:28 |
: This is unterrible. Dodgers would have to throw in cash, Ethier is overpaid. But Murphy is over-rated, a borderline two-B that is post-peak for defense and will get worse there, no patience, not much power, and one elite skill (contact rate).
|
12:28 |
I’m asking every expert this (and yes, I’m considering you an expert): It’s extremely unlikely that the Pirates trade for Price, yes? Yes they have the pieces and could use the pitching, but even if you just consider salary reasons, I don’t see the Pirates as a legitimate option. |
12:28 |
: Nope. If they were going to make a crazy trade, I’d guess it would be for offense. Like the Stanton rumors. Also not likely, but a smidgen more.
|
12:28 |
Do you know if there’s a way to pull Steamer projections (and others when they’re released) on custom leaderboards? Is that a feature that’s coming? |
12:29 |
: There’s a projections leaderboard that will be populated with our projections that you can download. Dunno when that will be up.
|
12:29 |
Do y’all write the skeletons of your articles preemptively. For example, did some have maybe the first 3 paragraphs written about Jacoby Elisbury when he was a free agent, and then they finished it after he signed. |
12:29 |
: I just admitted to writing the Loney thing to the Bucs, but that was yesterday when it really looked like he was going there. Will have to edit heavily if he doesn’t go.
|
12:29 |
LCD Soundsystem. My question is just to ask you to please explain to me the appeal of LCD Soundsystem. It’s among the most boring music I’ve ever heard. 7 minute loops. Nothing ever happens! Please help |
12:30 |
: I don’t think you’d like the second half of Brian Eno’s career then.
|
12:30 |
Is Dayton Moore essentially copying the Cardinals model of building a lineup? Sacrificing power and walks for LOTS of contact. |
12:30 |
: Giants did that and it worked. It’s zigging when the league is zagging, for sure. I’m a little more worried about that Royals pitching staff.
|
12:31 |
Every winter the media proclaims an offseason winner and that team proceeds to suck. Have there been any clear cut winners so far and what are the chances those additions end up costing the team? IMO it looks like the Yankees are adding alot of pieces and are a few away from being media darlings. |
12:32 |
: And Ellsbury could pull a hammy, ARod gone all year, Jeter sleeps on his neck wrong, and all of a sudden it’s Kelly Johnson, Eduardo Nunez, a Nix brother, and Teixeira backed by Gardner, Soriano and good luck.
|
12:32 |
Minor deal.. but.. The cubs send Don Vogelbach & Alberto Cabrera to the Pirates for Jose Tabata and Andrew Oliver. Who hangs up or do they make this deal? |
12:34 |
: It’s basically Vogelbach for Tabata, and unsure it matters, because then you switch the problem to the OF… maybe you think Polanco is ready sooner and you can fake Lambo/Decker in the OF for a month or two, Vogelbach is better at first? All depends on how Pirates’ prospect guys like Vogelbach, people split on him.
|
12:34 |
What reasonable offer from the Mets would have topped the Royals for Aoki? |
12:34 |
: Familia? Maybe another high-A arm? Problem is that Aoki’s only signed for one year, and 2014 is a bit more important for the Mets IMO.
|
12:35 |
Some context regarding prohibition: prior to prohibition only men could get served alcohol. this was done in an establishment called a saloon. a large number of these men were pissing away their pay checks (or bags of gold or however they were paid back then) on alcohol leaving women and children starving and/or homeless. prohibition was seen as a way to release the grip that saloons had on men and, by extension, their families. to that extent, it worked. people (both men and women) now go to bars, bars which have things like ‘cut off’ rules. true, we did have to go through mob controlled liquor distribution and americans now drink hard liquor whereas before it was mostly beer, but, to a large extent, prohibition was a necessary and successful piece of public policy. |
12:35 |
: one man lude.
|
12:35 |
What is there to like about Tillman? I feel like he has peaked. |
12:36 |
: Look at his pitch peripherals and you’ll be left cold. I just traded him ($3) with $6 Derek Norris and $9 Jorge Soler for $53 Strasburg in ottoneu points FanGraphs staff league. And I’m going to try and trade him in another league.
|
12:36 |
Wwll all 30 teams bid the maximum on Tanaka? What do you think he eventually signs for? |
12:37 |
: I’d guess it’s more like 15-20 teams. Not all teams have $20m lying around. And for some teams, like the Giants, it’s hard for multiple owners to agree to send one big check like that. Most players sign and you pay them in little checks over the course of a year.
|
12:37 |
What’s your take on what’s happening in Oakland? |
12:38 |
: He’s got a one-year lease on a very unique ballpark and may have to change his strategy a bit if the new park plays different. And they were close last year, so he’s going after the window.
|
12:38 |
If I have Trout in the 23rd, Billy Hamilton in the 27th, Encarnacion in the 15th, Chris Davis in the 17th, Goldschmidt in the 12th, and Segura in the 25th, who do I cut in a keep-five? No one will trade. More to the point, is my victory assured? |
12:39 |
: It’s Hamilton or Edwin Chicken Wing there. Great list. Hamilton more variance, Edwin less upside and costlier…
|
12:39 |
Going to have to drop one of Jason Castro, Drew Smyly, EY Jr. before I can make moves this offseason. Who should I cut? |
12:39 |
: EY JR. best as a sub in real life.
|
12:39 |
if the Lerners don’t mind a $300,000,000 payroll in 2018, they could sign Cano. Better infield: 1b LaRoche 2b Rendon ss Desmond 3b Zimmerman or 1b Zimmerman 2b Cano ss Desmond 3b Rendon? |
12:39 |
: Obviously the second batch is a better infield LOL. Just… that’s a lot of money.
|
12:39 |
First story on MLB’s scrolling story feed right now: “Chemistry lesson: Sox teach value of vetsAfter ‘glue guys’ played a big role in Boston’s title run, the market for veteran leaders should thrive.” Oy. How about “solid players played a big role….”? |
12:39 |
– Misses LCD Soundsystem. No question, just sad 🙁 |
12:40 |
I know saves are silly, but I heard Nathan referred to as the active saves leader. Which is true. But I’m sad that Rivera’s retired. |
12:40 |
: Sad interlude guys.
|
12:40 |
Jemile Weeks is organizational depth, no? |
12:40 |
: No, I think he gets a chance at second. It’s poop or get off the pottie time for Schoop pronounced scope and Weeks is the guy that’ll goose him.
|
12:41 |
Hi Eno, Are you a runner? I seem to recall you mentioning something about that. If so, how much do you run? |
12:41 |
: I quit. I get bored. I play basketball now for workouts. about a 40/50/80 guy in practice, that drops down to 30/40 in games.
|
12:41 |
What does 2014 hold in store for me now that I’m a Ranger? |
12:42 |
: I’m really interested in this, and not only because I own him a bit. His power dropped as he advanced, perhaps because he was trying to make more contact. Now he gets a real nice power park. But he’s probably not a CFer if Oakland let him go for a song. Do they give him a shot in the OF right away? If so, he’s an interesting sleeper already.
|
12:43 |
Ok, time for the big question: those of you in offices where someone could be looking over your shoulder at any minute, what are some of your chat participation strategies? |
12:43 |
: IMPORTANT
|
12:43 |
Are you familiar with Ninkasi Brewery in Eugene, OR? I’m taking a tour today. Their single-hop Mandarina is beautiful. |
12:43 |
: JEALOUS
|
12:43 |
Will Konerko be relevant at all next year? |
12:43 |
: NO
|
12:43 |
: (unless they trade Dunn.)
|
12:43 |
10x Mixed, what round do you keep Carlos Gomez? |
12:44 |
: Anything below fifth round, he should be an easy top 50 guy.
|
12:44 |
Jayson Werth led the NL in wRC+ last year (min. 400 PA). Weird. Someone in yesterday’s chat pointed out that the 4 yrs $80 mill left on his contract doesn’t look so crazypants now. It’s at least debateable. |
12:44 |
: Yeah but he’s old, and BABIP had something to do with that. Still a crazy contract imo.
|
12:44 |
Without spoiling your piece, think Loney would be a good signing for the Buccos? How many years/dollars would you go? |
12:45 |
: I was working on 2/15 and liked it. 3/30 is a little tougher, but okay.
|
12:45 |
: And yeah they need some help there.
|
12:45 |
Billy Hamilton + Adam Dunn = Mike Trout. There, I said it |
12:46 |
Is anyone’s rotation better than the Nats in 2014? |
12:46 |
: It’s super deep and excellent. I won’t be picking the Braves again in that division.
|
12:46 |
Over/under Bryce Harper WAR in 2014: 6.1 |
12:47 |
: Both projection systems have him under five, and though I like him better than that, I’ve learned that I have to use the projections to rein in my enthusiasm. I might take over 4.7, or even 5.1, but 6.1…
|
12:47 |
If the Mets land Granderson, do they have a shot to win 80 next year? |
12:48 |
: Yes I think so. They’ve been hanging out in the mid-seventies and Wheeler looks like he’ll be good. Lagares was a find. And they’re not done.
|
12:48 |
Are Cubbie fans off their rocker to think Samardzija will bring in a haul that includes two top 50’s and at least one other “prospect”? |
12:49 |
: Two years of an excellent pitcher should get them at least one top 50. And another prospect or two. And yeah I think he’s excellent. By K-BB and GB, he’s excellent. Velocity, two really good secondary pitches, no reason for platoon splits.
|
12:49 |
The Tigers bullpen seems much worse overall even with Nathan right now. What should they do? |
12:49 |
: They need more. More relievers.
|
12:49 |
Realistic upside projection for Profar this year? Think he’s stuck at 2b long-term or still a chance he gets to SS eventually? |
12:50 |
: .275/20/10? That’s kind, but not too kind, in my mind. They’d have to trade Andrus, and that seems unlikely.
|
12:50 |
Ron Shandler and Baseball HQ swears that Votto will go too high in next years drafts to be profitable because 37 HR not likely to return. However, at the same time, some of the research that has been done talks about opposite field home runs being a clear indication of power. He had a massive percentage of them last year (54%) whereas only >15% is considered a breakout candidate. Could there be power lurking? |
12:51 |
: He’s chosen his bed. I doubt he ever hits 35+ again. Oppo homers are a clear indication of power, but it’s easier to pull fly balls for homers. But Votto chose OBP over SLG, and that’s fine for his real-life value. I don’t think 37 coming back either, and Votto was only worth 15 bucks last year.
|
12:51 |
: In batting average leagues.
|
12:51 |
Any chance the Mariners & Rays agree on a trade for Price that does NOT involve Taijuan Walker? Scares me the thought of repeating the Erik Bedard fiasco from 2008 |
12:52 |
: Lotta people worried about this. Price feels like he’s better than Bedard, and Walker is a pitcher not a position player, so it’s not quite the same thing. But is Price what the Mariners need?
|
12:52 |
It’s a WINS trap, it’s a RBI rap We gotta talk it out while we’re young `Cause guys like us, Eno we were born to chat! |
12:52 |
now picturing billy hamilton carrying adam dunn on his shoulders while sprinting around the bases. adam dunn is still holding the bat. he whacks the catcher across the face in celebration of another inside-the-park home run |
12:52 |
Eno you’ve really grown on me, like ivy… crawling over me… |
12:52 |
: Weird interlude guys.
|
12:52 |
Beer Question: What is it you like about Saisons? |
12:53 |
: The pepper doesn’t attract everyone, but what I like is that saisons are lighter than IPAs and Stouts, but have more taste than Pilsners and Lagers. It’s like having a light Belgian. And Farmhouse / wild yeast appeals to me.
|
12:54 |
Favorite winter ale / Christmas beer? |
12:54 |
: Don’t have one. The seasonals and me… dunno, we don’t get along. If you’re talking Black Butte XXV from Deschutes or something, then sure.
|
12:54 |
Better risk Abreau 6/$68 or Napoli at say 4/$60? |
12:55 |
: Napoli has the health risk, but he’s a surer thing with regard to production and it’s a shorter contract. I think I take him.
|
12:55 |
Mujica was only good because he had Busch behind him. Fenway will rewake his gopheritis. |
12:55 |
: I think there’s some risk of that. He throws the splitter 65% of the time. If people sit on the 89 mph fastball…
|
12:55 |
Everyone is really down on Granderson, but prior to freak injuries, guy was an excellent power hitter. Wouldn’t a 2 year deal, and move to Corner OF be a laudable for a team like the Mets? |
12:56 |
: I’d go to 3/45 and be happy actually. It’s not like that deal kills your franchise, and it could really help.
|
12:56 |
What would a trip to Safeco do to Cano’s power? Same as Beltre’s? |
12:56 |
: They moved some fences since then. But you’d have to take some off the top for sure.
|
12:56 |
Morneau fantasy relevant now that he is at Coors? Looking at his opposite field power from last year (0% HR to opposite field), it doesn’t look good. |
12:56 |
: .280 with 20 homers? That’s fantasy relevant. As long as he stays on the field.
|
12:56 |
pretty sure you could have nine Kojis pitch every day, one for each inning, and hitters would still never figure out his splitter |
12:57 |
: Could be true. I mean, Dickey throws the knuckler all day every day.
|
12:57 |
What are some factors you look at to predict next year’s breakouts? |
12:58 |
: Age, production two years and three years ago (to avoid recency bias), bad results but okay processes (stuff like Lawrie’s contact rate), pedigree guys that are finally getting a shot (Mesoraco), and most of all: Opportunity.
|
12:58 |
Vacuum: keep Strasburg, Tulo, or Machado? |
12:58 |
: Tulo. Tulo plus replacement level SS hits the highest value mark.
|
12:58 |
Am I crazy for thinking OF, 1B, DH is a little crowded for the Astros? They have to play Springer, Singleton, and Grossman, right? Carter and Fowler also have to play. Castro DH’d a lot last year too. |
12:59 |
: They know this, which is why they gave every OF/1B/DH they had last year a month of a shot. They’ll do the same this year, maybe with fewer contenders and longer looks (100-150 PAs).
|
12:59 |
Haven’t heard you mention Duda in a while. Is he still a thing you think about? |
1:00 |
: Love the handle. yes, yes I think about it often. Because right now the Mets have two 1Bs and need to figure that out. I’d love to know what names they are looking at for Ike.
|
1:00 |
Pirates should think about dealing Tony Watson or Justin Wilson, right? Young, cost-controlled, hard-throwing lefty RP could bring something back, and two is probably a luxury they don’t need. Correct? |
1:00 |
: Except that they are contending, and lefty RPs don’t usually bring back MLB talent. Not that you’re wrong, just that the timing is off.
|
1:00 |
If too many splitfingers worries you, does too many fastballs? |
1:01 |
: The Pirates? Maybe. I like diversity. In lineup, and in the staff.
|
1:01 |
Have you ever joined a beer of the month club? My dad just got me 3 months of a club for my birthday. |
1:01 |
: Lucky man, those are fun.
|
1:01 |
do we need a sandwichgraphs |
1:01 |
: yes

1:01 |
More painful to watch: Will Smith throwing to a righty-laden lineup, or Will Smith in ‘Wild Wild West’? |
1:01 |
: we all lose
|
1:01 |
yanks lost about 60 million due to not making the playoffs and having an old/bad team last year. What are the chances they just forget this 189 million nonsense (which only saves 30 mil) |
1:01 |
: looks like it’s happening
|
1:02 |
I know it was a couple weeks ago, but a big thank you to the dude from Milwaukee who was posting as “Guest.” Thanks to his tip, I was able to get my hands on some Zombie Dust. Awesome beer! |
1:02 |
What would you say is a fair price for Heyward in Otto? |
1:02 |
: a little higher in points, maybe 30+ there, as high as 35+ for a contender looking for a big year. 4×4 lowest, maybe 25+. 5×5 somewhere in between.
|
1:03 |
Have 1st pick next year in 5×5. I am thinking of Cabrera over Trout because of position scarcity and track record. I still am skeptical of Trout’s inflated BABIP and the possibility for large BA regression, his power with a fairly average batted ball distance (~282 ft), and speed being available late in drafts. Am I crazy? |
1:03 |
: Age and DL history have me leaning Trout. And speed without power is available later, but getting 20+/30+ from the same lineup slot is not.
|
1:03 |
Should the mets give Granderson a 4th year? |
1:04 |
: If it lowers the AAV closer to $10m, eh. Just don’t want to do 4/60 and just give it to him with no qualifiers. Could be under 2 wins in year two or three fairly easily.
|
1:04 |
whats tanaka’s xfip after his first year on the yanks? |
1:05 |
: He’s not as good as Yu in my mind. If he goes to a small park in the AL, I could see some homers. But you smartly ask about xFIP, so I’ll go for around 3.50.
|
1:05 |
Beer Question: I was explaining how a baseball stat guy I follow also does statistical methods for beer (FanGraphs->BeerGraphs). I was asked, “how do you statistically quantify beer?” I was dumbfounded even though I have looked at BeerGraphs. How do you (at a high level)? |
1:06 |
: You can’t do it really. But what you can do is try to correctly evaluate what the crowd is saying. Tendencies from the crowd skew results, so we try to evaluate every beer against like beers (in style). Also, the hyped beer with 25 guys that love it, versus a Guinness — how you give credit for volume/amount of ratings is important. We haven’t figured it out, but we’re working on it. And we hope to be able to help you find more beers you like soon.
|
1:07 |
I’m interested in starting an ottoneu league for the upcoming season, but I only have a handful of friends who I can count on as reliable owners. Where’s a good place to find reliable owners who I can reasonably trust to remain active? |
1:07 |
: There is a page where you can claim existing teams that have been dropped. And I think a place where people get together to make leagues. Ask @ottoneu or me on twitter, we’ll help.
|
1:07 |
I know it’s early for rankings, but is Darvish potentially the number 2 pitcher behind Kershaw in 2014? |
1:08 |
: Probably. The only thing that really worries me about Yu is health.
|
1:08 |
Do you think the Cardinals use of young starting pitchers in relief roles helps their long term development or is it just something they have been doing based on their surplus of starting talent in comparison to their bullpen. Will more start following their example? |
1:08 |
: That’s been going for a really long time. Just looks nicer when the arms as quality as their’s have been.
|
1:08 |
What’s the % chance that the Cardinals identify who they want to draft years in advance, find incriminating photographs of those players, blackmail them into playing worse in college, and then draft them lower than they should be drafted? Because come on. |
1:08 |
how can someone find dance yrself clean boring?! |
1:09 |
RE: LCD being boring. You might even say it gets innocuous… |
1:09 |
Should we believe any rumors reported by @incarceratedbob? He is saying Cano to the Yankees is done. |
1:09 |
: No I don’t think so. Hasn’t been my experience.
|
1:09 |
Can you please tell all SD Padres fans that Gregerson is not an elite reliver, and should not be viewed as one? |
1:09 |
: Elite is a tough word. Probably not elite. But he’s very good!
|
1:10 |
Is Mike Rizzo one of the best traders in baseball? Matt Capps for Wilson Ramos. Morse for AJ Cole, Blake Treinen and Ian Krol (as the PTBNL). Gave up a lot for Gio Gonzalez, but everyone he gave up has been worth a combined 6.1WAR and Gio has been worth 8.2 WAR. Meyer for 3 years of Span (who was a 3.6 win player during a down offensive year). And of course the Doug Fister deal. It’s hard for me to think of a trade he’s lost. |
1:11 |
: The Meyer deal will look different as soon as this year. I saw him in Arizona and love love love him. But right now he’s built a good team and a lot of that has to do with deals. As long as he doesn’t become a Ruin Tomorrow.
|
1:11 |
What do you think of Kelly Johnson’s defense at 3b, is he a good enough hitter/defender to be a league average 3b? |
1:11 |
: Eh. not quite average. But above RL and decent enough of a stopgap. I doubt 211 games will stick, even as bad as it looks. Just too random a number.
|
1:12 |
so will KC tell Aoki to steal more? They had the most steals in the bigs last year. |
1:12 |
: Maybe, but Aoki’s success rate wasn’t great. It’s easy to tell Dyson to go…
|
1:12 |
Have you ever checked out the Cleveland beer scene? From Akron to Cleveland theres some good stuff. Great Lakes, Fat Heads, Thirsty Dog to name a few. |
1:12 |
: I got some Fat Head sent to me and it was excellent!
|
1:12 |
I’ve noticed a lot of beers with some sort of “hop” in their name have a grapefruitty finish. Some taste like rotten grapefruit and linger, while some finish clean. Where’s that flavor coming from? |
1:13 |
: Probably the Citra Hops in there. If it’s ‘rotten’ could be an older beer. There are a few hops that smell/taste citrus. I recommend buying beers with the hops labeled on the bottle so that you can gain an understanding of which hops you like. It’s a big deal.
|
1:13 |
Murphy would be uber UT player and hedge against Guerrero sucking/not being ready at 2B. It’s not a bad suggestion if the LADs throw in 25M for Ethier. Almost better than throwing lots of stupid money at Grandy and losing 2nd rd pick. Mets would need to add legit 2Bman tho. Talk of EY at 2B ridiculous. |
1:14 |
: Yeah EYJR already flamed out at second.
|
1:14 |
Zack Wheeler, Michael Wacha, Mat Latos, Taijuan Walker….16-team keeper league, can only keep 1 of them…whom do you keep? |
1:14 |
: You keep the guy that has the most definite projection next year… Latos. Sorry, not the sexy answer, but you’re not in a dynasty league.
|
1:15 |
Hey Eno, haven’t tuned into your chats for a while, sorry – what are your feelings these days on Rutledge? I was able to take him for next to nothing in my dynasty league ($2M salary, $165M cap), but is he even worth that? Thanks, really hope you see this. |
1:15 |
: He’s worth a flier. There’s a pile of junk at second base in Colorado and a nice BABIP in spring might give him a chance. He doens’t have great plate discipline, but he has the tools to go .275/20/20, and that’s worth keeping an eye on. DJLM is all batting average and defense, so if he doesn’t get the BABIP love he’ll look worse.
|
1:16 |
Beers you wish were at more bars in California? |
1:16 |
: Beers from Founders, Victory, Three Floyds.
|
1:16 |
Any hope left for Dee Gordon? |
1:17 |
: Trade to a team like the Marlins that can try him at second or in CF?
|
1:17 |
Wilmer Flores. Better served by 600 big league ABs or 200 in Vegas then a promotion? |
1:17 |
: 200 in Vegas and a trade. Mets don’t have a place for him.
|
1:18 |
What are the Mets doing here? Looks like they are about to blow their budget on yrs 33-36 of Grandy (Cameron’s #2 biggest landmine of the FA class)! There will be nothing left to fill in rotation, pen, SS…. AHHHHHH |
1:20 |
: I don’t hate Granderson as much as Dave, and OF is a need for them. I’ll take the OLIVER projection and 3+ wins from Grandy next year in the corner OF, making 3/45 reasonable. No way that’s a killer. AS for their budget, it would leave them with $5-7m, probably for an SP5. And Ruben at short, who I also don’t hate, and think can be a 1.5-2 win player, particularly now that he’s working on his conditioning. Only thing that I hold against Sandy right now is talking crap on Ruben in the media. Silly.
|
1:20 |
Rumors of Sox inquiring on Kemp… What’s your take on Kemp going forward? |
1:21 |
: Don’t love Kemp. Sneaky bad plate discipline that should age badly. bad defense, should be a corner OF real soon. Better than he was last year, but the contract sucks.
|
1:21 |
Richard Justice seemed to hedge about the use of Michael Choice as a starting LF’er for the Rangers. He seemed to hint that the Rangers were in the mix for a better “Choice”..who is that ? |
1:21 |
: Choo’s the rumor, right?
|
1:21 |
40/50/80? is that threes before twos, or do you choke in the lane/under the basket? |
1:21 |
: threes before twos.
|
1:21 |
I make the chat window small so people can’t really tell what I’m doing |
1:21 |
: BUT WHAT IF I YELL
|
1:22 |
What’s your take on Miguel Sano? Will he make enough contact to be fantasy relevant in 2013? Is he Pedro Alvarez or Giancarlo Stanton? |
1:22 |
: Pedro Alvarez is fantasy relevant and a great comp.
|
1:22 |
Please pick 3:soler,asche,bonifacio,mejia,odorizzi,hughes |
1:23 |
: Soler, Asche… Mejia
|
1:23 |
hscer: It really helps if you have two monitors so you can always leave work up on one. Barring that try to arrange your office/cubicle/box of workplace sadness so that you can either a) see people coming b)hear people coming and/or c)people walking by cannot see what you are doing at a glance. |
1:23 |
: “workplace sadness”
|
1:23 |
Re: Basketball stats- defense is a bitch. |
1:23 |
: and I’m fairly stupid once i’m on the floor for some reason
|
1:23 |
The Salty deal to the Fish makes sense (they’re paying for about 1-win), but why did they do it? |
1:24 |
: Get value anywhere, if only to trade later.
|
1:24 |
the key to chatting at work (for my office, at least) is just have an email window up and also don’t act all skulky about it. my job requires all kinds of random internet activity anyway, so it’s more about people believing that i’m working and not examining too closely. also i work in IT so it’s the one department where internet activity is NOT monitored, so do that. |
1:24 |
La Stella:the next Martin Prado? |
1:24 |
: Hey! Not bad! A lot of contact, medium patience, some power, some speed. Well done.
|
1:25 |
What, if any, move(s) do the Cards make with the surplus of great, young arms? |
1:25 |
: I would’ve said get a shortstop, but they’re good now.
|
1:25 |
Castellanos spent most of last year in the OF right? Is it that easy to just pick up playing 3B again? |
1:25 |
: More years at 3b than OF, so just think back a bit further I guess. He didn’t move because he was bad there, which is why it could work.
|
1:26 |
Is hamilton worth a keep in a keep 9 when I’d have to drop cespedes? |
1:26 |
: No
|
1:26 |
how is it that teams have not figured out the Rays approach of “sign all the relievers that are cheap and then use whoever turns out well” yet? |
1:26 |
: Plenty have. Do you remember what the Braves did under Schuerholz? Do you remember Alejandro Pena?
|
1:27 |
With Walt Jocketty announcing Devin Mesoraco “will have the opportunity to become a frontline catcher with us” what should we expect? |
1:27 |
: I’m cautiously excited. He makes good contact, has upside for more patience and power. And now… opportunity. But I wouldn’t take him as a top 12 catcher or anything. Unless you’re picking your catcher in the last rounds and expect to need to go to FA in case it doesn’t work out.
|
1:28 |
Will Machado play SS this year? |
1:28 |
: I’m guessing no.
|
1:28 |
Cruz or Granderson keepers in ottoneu @ $20 each? |
1:29 |
: Sure. In all three formats, I’d be keeping them at that price. Five outfielders, established track records.
|
1:29 |
Also, better NL only keeper: Daniel Murphy at $11 or Devin Mesoraco at $4? And, WHEN’S THE NEXT PODCAST!?!! |
1:30 |
: Today on the podcast. Shoot. Heart says Mesoraco because I get all excited about guys I like, but Murphy’s the brain piece. He’s at an important position, more track record.
|
1:30 |
Should the Cards trade a SP prospect or Lynn to Dbacks for owings or ahmed |
1:30 |
: Maybe before Peralta. Maybe now. I don’t love Lynn. He has no weapon against lefties.
|
1:30 |
The previous description of prohibition seems markedly different than the one Ken Burns put out there last year. Prohibition was pushed through by rural, god-fearing puritans to quench the foreign-born, city-dwelling, devil-worshiping, drinking menace is how I’d characterize it. |
1:31 |
: Sounds like a BeerGraphs post, wish it was publishing today lol.
|
1:31 |
if Celebration counts as a “winter ale” then that wins for me |
1:31 |
I only drink beer brewed by monks. Eff the free world. |
1:31 |
Mujica replaced Busch for Sam Adams. Upgrade? |
1:32 |
Koji and Mujica have pretty much identical repertoirs. 88-90 fastball with a splitter that they throw a huge percentage of the time. Koji strikes out way more, but they both have elite walk rates. Not having seen Mujica much, what’s the difference? Does Koji get better deception? Or is his splitter that much better? |
1:32 |
: I think they both have elite plus plus fastball command, but Koji has better command of the splitter itself. But yeah, so close to same guy!
|
1:32 |
: FWIW, when he left Texas, the book on Koji was that he had slight homeritis, which is what you hear about Mujica.
|
1:32 |
Speaking of Dickey – Any chance of a return to Cy quality form? Didn’t have a bad year last year… |
1:33 |
: Not quite Cy. He’s in the AL now. But yeah, health was a big part of why he didn’t throw the hard knuckler as much last year.
|
1:33 |
I miss Maxamuz. |
1:33 |
that question about Duda raises an interesting point. Where is Maxamuz these days? /anxiously looks over shoulder |
1:33 |
Shut up Marty… Wild Wild West is awesome |
1:33 |
: People are weird.
|
1:34 |
What does Gumballhead taste like? |
1:34 |
: Don’t ask me, I loathe it. Sweatsocks dipped in alcohol.
|
1:34 |
if you’re watching a parade, don’t follow it, it never changes |
1:34 |
What’s a dumber trade: the Erik Bedard catastrophe or Matt Capps for Wilson Ramos? |
1:35 |
: Capps because he was trading for a reliever.
|
1:35 |
Isn’t Billy Hamilton tools + Adam Dunn tools = Eric Davis? He was awesome |
1:35 |
Which of these would you target as a 2B 5×5 roto league: Dozier, Wong, Gennet, Rendon or Franklin? |
1:36 |
: Rendon, Franklin, Dozier, Scooter in that order. Wong last, he could be as ‘bad’ as .270/10/20. Rest should beat that.
|
1:36 |
Hey Eno – I want to play in more competitive dynasty type of league this year. Where would be a good resource to latch on somewhere. |
1:37 |
: Hit me up on twitter or join an ottoneu league?
|
1:37 |
So the pirates have hard throwing lefty relievers available and want MLB players in return. Can I interest you in a Jesus Guzman? |
1:37 |
: Hmmm. My initial reaction was not positive. But eh. They won’t get Ike Davis for a lefty reliever, I don’t think.
|
1:38 |
Traded $2 A Russell and $6 Peralta for $5 Corbin and $5 Rendon in Otoo 4×4. Have a glut of prospects, needed to convert some into MLB talent. Could I have done better or is that about right? |
1:38 |
: You got Rendon, so that’s good, but I don’t like Corbin. I might try to flip him.
|
1:38 |
The 5-year Oliver projections have Mike Trout at 71.2 career WAR following his age-26 season, just behind Eddie Murray on the all-time list. My God… |
1:38 |
I have 400 cars. And 400 scars and 400 guitars. I have 400 houses. 400 mouses and 400 houses. |
1:38 |
45:33 is a brilliant piece of music. Nothing but *boring* loops. |
1:38 |
Et Tu Brute: I’m interested in joining an Ottoneu league. Hit me up, @smartano |
1:39 |
About Cabrera/Trout: Doesn’t your Tulo argument from before about value over replacement carry some weight here with 3B over OF? |
1:39 |
: In five OF leagues, 3B has gotten to the point where it’s about equal with OF.
|
1:39 |
What’s Castellanos’ outlook as a full time 3B? |
1:39 |
: I wouldn’t pick him up in mixed leagues. Okay average, power we’ll have to wait and see.
|
1:40 |
Do you think that MLB is catering too much to the mid market / bottom feeding teams in baseball by changing the posting rules, protecting draft picks, etc? |
1:40 |
: They’re just trying to keep labor costs down wherever they can.
|
1:40 |
I like to pretend that Don Kelly is Stevie and Jim Leyland is Kenny Powers. It makes me happy. |
1:40 |
i’d bet good money that “rotten grapefruit” hop taste is Summit. orange/grapefruit is what they’re supposed to taste like, and garlic/B.O. is what they often actually taste like, take the average and… |
1:41 |
Beer Question: Know of any Saisons I can get in Texas? |
1:41 | : Sorry all beers are doubled right now, we’ll fix that. |
1:42 |
Keep 15 league. Matt Harvey is worth stashing for a year, correct? |
1:42 |
: Yes
|
1:42 |
Darvish: Only pitcher with a shot at 300 Ks right? |
1:42 |
: yes
|
1:42 |
Eno, I have a friend that just started brewing mead. Run away screaming, cautious optimism, or observe the effects on test subjects first? |
1:43 |
: Let someone else taste first lol.
|
1:43 |
I’m in a second year classic 4×4 league. I was offered Wil Myers ($20) and Shelby Miller ($10) for Goldschmidt ($19). Do you make this trade? |
1:44 |
: Man. If you think Myers could be close to Goldy in pure value, OFs > 1b in ottoneu. And Miller will be a good price for five years, unless arb hits him hard. If you need pitching, it’s not terrible. Goldy is best player in deal, though, so if you’re competitive, keep him and just try to find pitching.
|
1:44 |
I am dying of a head cold today but my work holiday party is in 2.5 hours w/ free beer (decent options like SN celebration and Smutty Robust porter) and free food plus obvious networking possibilities….stick it out? |
1:45 |
: and take tomorrow off. networking is important, if you can smile and not sneeze on anyone.
|
1:45 |
wow, if Mets OP SS os Tejada entire off-season is a big fail. no excuse for failing to upgrade to something there. c’mon. stop excusing the Alderson FO. It’s become clear there really isn;t a plan there. |
1:45 |
: Disagree hard core. The plan is: don’t spend money. You can blame them for it, or the Wilpons, as I do.
|
1:46 |
chatting at work: submit questions to the chat during a meeting and it’ll sound like you are dilligently banging away at taking notes! |
1:46 |
: have to time it right.
|
1:46 |
Belt or Fowler for my Util spot? |
1:46 |
: Belt more power, fewer SBs, more upside at this point. Fowler older and leaving Coors.
|
1:46 |
as someone who works in an open floor plan, i would prefer the box of sadness. i have plenty of space to stretch out, which also means plenty of space to hear EVERY GODDAMN MINOR COMPLAINT EVER from my coworkers. one of them is whining about how she wastes her money buying designer clothes for her baby because the baby throws up on them and i want to go over and flip her desk. |
1:47 |
Are you a James Murphy fan or are you a rock kid who is strictly an LCD Soundsystem fan? He’s a great dj but you have love disco/house type stuff. |
1:47 |
: I like everything from reggae to funk to disco to indie rock, rap, dancehall, punk…
|
1:47 |
i feel like a formed a bond here today with all of you who hide these chats at work. |
1:47 |
Jerod Mayo to sell own line of mayo http://nfl.si.com/2013/12/05/jerod-mayo-mayonnaise-new-england-patriots/?eref=sihp |
1:48 |
Why. All. Of. The. Daniel. Murphy. Questions? |
1:48 |
: The things we know and the things we can’t know.
|
1:48 |
How much better numbers for Fister in Washington? |
1:48 |
: Does it depend at all on Zimmerman moving? Eh. He’s in the NL, yeah, his numbers will be better now. Much better.
|
1:49 |
What beer did you drink to celebrate the win v ND? Also, nice W v. ND. |
1:49 |
: I was having Ommegang Hennepin and Port Brewing brown that day.
|
1:49 |
Eno, your thoughts on the Josh Donaldson in a keeper league? |
1:50 |
: I believe. .280/20-25 seems attainable to me, and that plays in the top 12 at 3b.
|
1:50 |
Do i need to finally give up on the idea that J Upton is going to become first-round legit? THIS HAS BEEN HAUNTING ME FOR YEARS. |
1:50 |
: Strikeout rate means poor batting averages and the stolen bases are going, so… yeah.
|
1:50 |
What do you think of Fowler? over/under .280-12 hrs-20 SB? |
1:50 |
: under under under.
|
1:50 |
Wild Wild West is awesome in the same way that the Hindenburg explosion was awesome. It’s amazing to watch something that big and that expensive go up in flames. |
1:51 |
did people really need 2 Chainz to tell them they were different |
1:51 |
ENO! Have you had the Saison from Parallel 49 from BRITISH COLOMBIA CANADA??? ITS 6.5% AND F*ing fantastic. also I miss you |
1:51 |
: Posted for the last part lol, but a good interlude.
|
1:51 |
My suggestion for workplace chat viewing is to just not care if anyone sees you slacking off. I’ve been doing it for years and no one has ever said anything. |
1:51 |
: hah.
|
1:51 |
Who is the rookie brewer of the year? While I’ve never had any, I keep hearing about Toppling Goliath. |
1:51 |
: Time for BeerGraphs to roll out the ‘of the year’ posts.
|
1:52 |
Is the O’s closer currently on the roster? |
1:52 |
: Tommy Hunter? Doubt it.
|
1:52 |
I’m here as an imposter. |
1:52 |
: Oh no.
|
1:52 |
Hosmer or Butler long terms? |
1:53 |
: Hosmer younger, similar, plays better D. But you like em young, so you knew that.
|
1:53 |
Annoyed Mets fan here, how could the Mets not beat Will Smith in an offer? Do you think the Mets need to get creative here and ship off solid unspectacular Dillon Gee for a solid bat? |
1:53 |
: Yeah, Aoki might have been okay, for one year. Gee’s better than his results last year, IMO.
|
1:54 |
Juan Pierres Mustaches is right! Summit is gross! Stop making my IPAs taste like foot. |
1:54 |
Darvish is the only pitcher with a shot at 250 K as well |
1:54 |
WHAT HAPPENS TO j.p. nolongercatchia? |
1:54 |
: Catches in Texas, most likely.
|
1:54 |
ENO I’M LATE AND IT’S REALLY COLD |
1:54 |
: it’s cold even here.
|
1:54 |
In my OOTP game Jameson Taillon became a 6 WAR player for his first two years then retired to play professional basketball |
1:54 |
I’ve hit ALT+TAB about 200 times in this chat already. No one knows a thing. |
1:54 |
Don’t forget to cast your Hall of Fame votes! http://deadspin.com/who-should-be-in-the-baseball-hall-of-fame-vote-now-1476310675 |
1:55 |
So based on one of your announced Ottoneu trades, are you buying Strasburg this year? |
1:55 |
: It’s iffy for me to keep Stras at that price, but I wasn’t going to keep anyone but $3 Tillman on that list so, I thought, might as well take him. I do like Strasburg a lot. one year, he’ll be healthy all year and win the Cy Young.
|
1:55 |
Soria or Scheppers for saves in Texas. My thinking: Soria will be a top closer again and is natural choice. |
1:56 |
: Bet they sign another candidate. Soria gets first shot, Scheppers as backup plan.
|
1:57 |
Fister = Jordan Zimmermann disagree much? |
1:57 |
: Not too bad.
|
1:57 |
Give us some under-appreciated 80s funk and disco song names to listen to. Please? |
1:59 |
: Thankyoufalletinmebemiceelf by sly, funkify your life and kissed my baby by the meters, headhunters all of it by herbie hancock, all parliament.
|
1:59 |
I don’t get why you say Shark is excellent. Three years in a row with FIP in mid- to upper-threes. |
1:59 |
: Homeritis, and I don’t believe he has to have homeritis. Isn’t his xFIP much better?
|
1:59 |
Beer Question: Are home brews always terrible or can you “catch lightning in a bottle” quite literally? |
2:00 |
: My favorite home brewers are opening up a brewery in San Jose as we speak.
|
2:00 |
Where would one find these five year Oliver projections? |
2:00 |
: Keep scrolling down on the player page.

To juan pierres mustache: Walls on my box of sadness are approximately 5′ 8″. I hear everything anyway with the added bonus of confined space and extremely drab colors. |

Heath Bell closing for TB in 2014? |
2:01 |
: Probably. and probably a value pick. And probably people in SD, AZ and MIA will be bad.
|

CF next year, Eaton or Fowler? |
2:01 |
: Tasty. I’ll take the chance on Eaton here. Similar BA/OBP, can’t be that hard for Eaton to hit 15 homers in the desert, and yeah, he might only steal 20, but he’s also stolen way way more than 20 in the minors.

2:03 |

DO ALL OF THE STUFF!!!!! |
With a phone full of pictures of pitchers' fingers, strange beers, and his two toddler sons, Eno Sarris can be found at the ballpark or a brewery most days. Read him here, writing about the A's or Giants at The Athletic, or about beer at October. Follow him on Twitter @enosarris if you can handle the sandwiches and inanity.
I’m in a second year classic 4×4 league. I was offered Wil Myers ($20) and Shelby Miller ($10) for Goldschimdt ($19). Do you make this trade?
My opinion: keep Goldy for now, if you’re not contending mid-year you can probably get a similar deal from someone who is.
