Eno Sarris: Crazy thing: Dude is 26. Feels like he should be 30. Even my more conservative power peak thing found a peak around 26 for power, so maybe we shouldn’t regress him ISO as much as Steamer has (from .174 to .158). New Park.. lefty… This is what I’ll give him: 90% of last year, over 500 PA. That’s his upside. So .260/.330/.420, 18 homers, two stolen bases.?

Saw you mention recently on Twitter about playing in a Scoresheet league. Playing in Scoresheet league myself for the 1st time this season. Any advice on roster construction/breakdown of starters/relievers/hitters for the 35 man roster. And awesome to see a Baltimore beer as rookie of the year. (http://www.beergraphs.com/b…)

Eno Sarris: I kinda hate it. The user interface is pretty bad and for $70 a year… the defensive stats and how important they are feel like a black box, there’s no analysis out there and very little demand for it… combing through player lists is painful… But it is nice to get the box scores once a week and play a ‘real’ game. I think you need seven to eight starters, seven or so bench bats, four or five prospects (if you can keep prospects) and the rest are relievers, half and half by handedness.

Do you think Trevor Bauer could outperform the more hyped Carlos Carrasco kind of like how Kluber did Salazar last year?

Eno Sarris: What worries me is that his change is no good. I think he could do the Richards, but knowing his past, I think he’ll keep throwing that change. Then again, I kinda love Kyle Boddy and he’s working with Bauer, so yeah. Once you factor in price, I might like Salazar and Bauer better than Carrasco this year.

Are you high on Miguel Sano this year? He had some Kris Bryant-esque hype a couple of years ago before he lost last year to injury. Sounds like he could be up this year…instant impact?

Eno Sarris: Like him more than Gallo (similar power to me, better contact rates), but maybe not as much as Bryant. His value has dropped, though, so now is the time to get him. He’ll find a way into that lineup by the end of the year.

Eno Sarris: It’s Hamels or Salazar since you can’t benefit from Jose Fernandez in 2016. Kinda like taking a shot on Salazar in the 19th actually. Since Hamels is only a couple rounds of value, his upside is tantalizing. Melancon could push his way into the convo. If you want floor value, Melancon. Salazr is the lotto ticket.

Eno Sarris: Slightly better. I’m happy the injuries were to his lower half. Well, not happy, that’s mean. But Zimmerman found that leg injuries were less worrisome, so let’s hope for a mini bounce due to healthy legs.

Eno Sarris: He’s still the lefty-swinger, and he might play all over. i’m going to call him an only-league sleeper, but a bench pick in mixed leagues at best. And even then, I think I like Owings and Kang better.

For roto snake in-draft strategy: z-score values in my spreadsheet, adding up my drafted team’s z-score sum in each category to help target a balance, and also comparing my drafted players stat sums to averages of past winning teams…good way to go?

Eno Sarris: Yes but don’t go too far and pick a one-tool speedster too early just because you need speed. The waiver wire and trades can rough some edges out.

Eno Sarris: Economic mobility and income inequality, as well as international issues. As a German Jamaican American that has lived without furniture or heated water and has had a mother that used every trick in the book to get me a good education here, I want to make it easier for other people to move upwards.

Thoughts on Jake Odorizzi in 2015?

Eno Sarris: I’m worried that his breakers will never be good. High fastball, splitter combo is great, but he’ll always give up homers if he doesn’t have a third weapon, and so far the slider and curve are not good.

Eno Sarris: I love love House, but where’s he going to pitch. He needs to beat Salazar out, and I doubt that happens. He’ll be a great in-season pickup when Floyd gets hurt. Griffin is a decent DL stash if you have more than one DL slot. Tom? Eh.

ENO. A story for you. I live in Minneapolis, where they don’t sel beer on Sunday. This means Minnesotans must go to Wisconsin to get beer, which in turn creates a market for an awesome liquor store in Hudson, Casanova’s, that does nice things like stock bombers of Toppling Goliath and fill growlers with all sorts of delicious beers on tap in their attached restaurant. So what you do is, you get some pseudosue,have your wife taste it’s gentle citra deliciousness, and you convince her that a weekend trip to quaint decorah will be the bee’s knees. Eno Sarris: I want Calhoun. really similar value, and you get some money back. Dearth of talent might mean that you need more money to get anything in the draft. (There’s also a non-zero chance that calhoun outperforms Choo, cost aside)

On the grumblometer–the meter for how much I grumble when I make a pick–I fully expect SS to induce a 7+, and I wouldn’t be surprised if 2B got at least a 4, but am I crazy for thinking I’ll find a close to grumble free 3B? There’s a decent top-tier, then some fun stuff with Arenado and Frazier. And now that we’re used to Longoria and Wright not being amazing, I can see how far they drop and not grumble if they fall to me. 3B grumble free?

i’m in a weekly 2-catcher league. it just seems like the dumbest thing in the world to draft catchers before the end.. because you can’t ever get more than 5 starts from them each week or whatever. (but since we start two catchers their replacement value is super high, and so all the auction values are really high.) thoughts?

Eno Sarris: You want to pick among the middle regular catchers, IMO, so you get a guy who actually plays as much as the rest. There’s a ton of .260/18 there in the middle, pay the least for a couple of those.

How do you decide on a hit/pitch split for valuing players? Should you calculate the “right” one or base it on league history? I guess what I’m saying is my league crazily overvalues pitchers and a 60/40 split seems insane to me.

Eno Sarris: Zach Sanders makes compelling arguments that you should value at the split that your lineups say (if you have 9 P and 13 O, then 60/40) and then allocate your resources post-draft the way you’d like to. Then again, that means you won’t buy an ace. (But I don’t buy aces).

How many “projection” buys do you do during the course of an auction? Towards the end once you are down to deep bench/bullpen guys?

Eno Sarris: I use my bench for upside at my weakest spots. I don’t spend too much time trying to get Solarte types there for more PAs unless it’s a really deep league. In most leagues, I want youth on my bench. You’ll drop them if they don’t get the gig, and move on with your life.

Eno Sarris: I like the Dust Bowl beers, but I didn’t fall in love with any of them. I think the MLB might just be trying to be cautious with a changing legal landscape, but yes, they are the ones dragging their feet right now.
