Eno Sarris: Not in a real baseball way really, but for fantasy, should manage a good average and 30+ steals even in 2/3 time.

Tim: What is Jurickson Profars ceiling and his likely outcome?

Eno Sarris: It’s about his power. Without league average or better power, he’ll need to play a good defensive position and OBP over .330. Full health, does he have power? Unsure. Maybe. If he does, then he could be a .280/.340/.450 type player, maybe 15/10 type hr/sb, maybe at second base? or limp-armed CF?

Dan: Saw you said Kersh’s slider is his third best pitch in your most recent article, I’ve always been of the opinion that it’s his best. You think Curve/Fastball/Slider in that order?

Eno Sarris: Fastball/Curve/Slider. He throws like a cut riser at 93 from the left side as a starter, that’s an impressive combo of weirdness and stuff, plus elite command.

Eno Sarris: Guys projected for less than half a win that I find interesting: Eddie Rosario, Juan Lagares, Jurickson Profar, Brett Lawrie, Brandon Moss, Byung-ho Park, Sean Rodriguez, Matt Kemp, Tommy LaStella. Off that list, it’s obviously Moss for me, but he’s maybe better than that if his playing time changes.

DLowe: Hi Eno! Which of the following relievers (if any) do you see getting the most save opportunities this coming season? Hector Neris, Jim Johnson, Brad Ziegler. Thanks Eno

Eno Sarris: Neris.

ChiSox2020: If the Pirates are in win now mode and keeping Cutch for the next two years should they be more willing to part with Meadows than Glasnow? Glasnow can certainly be more of a contributor on a contender then Meadows in a loaded outfield.

Eno Sarris: I think they’re hoping for a Cutch bounce back and either injury or poor play on another contender for a need for need swap.

Erik: What do you make of the argument that since there’s not a single reliever in history (besides maybe Mariano) who you would have traded borderline Hall of Famers like Larry Walker or Edgar Martinez for straight up, no relievers belong in the Hall of Fame? Is Hall of Fame “value” close enough to trade value that an argument like that makes sense?

Eno Sarris: I love relievers. They’re important. But if you have the top 15-20 shortstops of all time in the HoF, I think you should probably have the top 3-5 relievers in the Hall.

JV: Would you keep Brett Phillips as a top 80 prospect in an OBP league?

Eno Sarris: I love the dude. He’s hilarious. He told me he wanted to be a 1/2/8/9 hitter (whoops, he said, NL, so 7/8) and his mechanics look all kinds of messed up. I don’t think so.

Erik: Is the apparent complete collapse of the one-dimensional slugger market an accurate reflection of those players’ true value, or has the pendulum swung way too far the other way? Could we see a savvy low-budget franchise like the Rays or A’s sign a bunch of cheap one-dimensional sluggers and become a cost-effective playoff contender in a few years?

Eno Sarris: I believe the A’s were in on Edwin, and yes it certainly looks that way. Brandon Moss is a decent player.

Jean Luc: Jay Bruce for Jeanmar Gomez a fair deal?

Eno Sarris: If the Phillies pick up a decent portion of the tab, sure.

Foolsgold: Dozier for Jose Deleon sounds about right. Is Minn overplaying their hands?

Eno Sarris: I think they see LA as needing Dozier, and if they end up keeping Dozier and flipping him at the deadline, the deadline bounce might give them enough to overcome the missing 2/3 of a season that happened in between.

Bobby: Do you think Atlanta will be able to flip any of Dickey, Colon, or J.Garcia at the deadline?

Eno Sarris: Healthy Garcia or Colon, sure. Dickey to a contender wouldn’t get them much, teams don’t seem to want to rely on knucklers.

Roadhog: Trumbo to the A’s isn’t so crazy. He broke out last season, but his awful defensive metrics in RF hid that fact. Stick him back at 1B where he’s a plus defender, and he’s basically a second Khrush you just signed for 3/33 or whatever.

Eno Sarris: He wants more than that, but it’s not so crazy. I’m surprised people are missing that fact that Trumbo is actually a good 1B with the glove.

Otis Redding: You love Max Kepler, GERMANY, $9 Ottoneu FGPTS, are you keeping or cutting?

Man Of Steel: Great call last year on Sam Dyson, I was able to get him late in two NFBC drafts! Who is this year’s Dyson? I was able to get Nate Jones late this year but everyone is on him now.

Phils Question: Is multiple years of Cesar Hernandez enough to get the last year of JD Martinez? Phils could slide Kendrick to second after Cesar is traded.

Eno Sarris: I’d think the Phils would want more years in return.

Logan: I know you’ve said before that you’ve received job offers from MLB teams and that you can’t do it cause it’s just too much time from your kids and such, but in the future is it something you’ll pursue?

Eno Sarris: When the kids are in school… maybe. It’s a lot of work and travel for not a lot of pay, and I feel like I work in baseball!

Eno Sarris: Yeah but too much can overwhelm, too. Like I taught the four year old what a curveball was because it’s easy to see. He turned to me and said I SEE IT DAD I WANT TO THROW A CURVEBALL.

Thomas: How confident would you be that Nate Jones will be closing games for the White Sox – start of season 50%, after trade deadline 75%?

Eno Sarris: That’s if he’s healthy, so you have to drop it more like 40% and 66% if you add in health.

Zihuatenejo: If the Dodgers acquire Dozier and keep Puig, they will have the __th best offense in the NL this season.

Eno Sarris: Probably still second, the Cubs are sexy time.

CarlC: Is this a big plus for Rajai? Is there any chance he puts up a .250 12/40 again?

Eno Sarris: 8-10, 30+, all the time he wants probably, since the other options in CF are worse and also right-handed.

Roadhog: Remember when the A’s traded for Khris Davis, and they had a spraychart showing his HRs would still go out in Oakland? There is an identical chart for Trumbo’s 2016 homers.

Eno Sarris: Yeah problem is that the cold robs balls of distance so those same balls wouldn’t have gone as far in Oakland. But some guys are no-doubters no matter where they hit.

Guy: Does Harrison Bader play for the Cards in 2017? Does he have legit 25 homer power? You a believer?

Eno Sarris: Doubt the first, doubt the second, but he’s a decent player, was impressive in Arizona.

Alex: Do long spindly fingers improve spin rate?

Eno Sarris: Apparently not, or at least not in the relatively small sample research Driveline did.

Nelson: Are you man enough to stand up and say the new Tribe called Quest is just not that great?

Eno Sarris: It’s… like an older version of ATCQ. Father time is a bitch.

Andrew: What do you envision from Conforto this year?

Eno Sarris: I can’t put PT on it until they sort out the OF. But I like him for .275/345/480 or so. I really like the dude.

Terrible Ted: Who has a better breakout this year? J. Gray or J. Taillon?

Eno Sarris: Gray. He has a third pitch.

Frank: I’m looking to get Goose Island Bourbon County stout… thoughts? Have you tried this beer?

Eno Sarris: It’s a tank, a mac truck, not super subtle. But very chocolatey and smooth.

LarryA: Whats worse, buying a new IPA, bringing it home and only then seeing its 10 months old, or finding out is its just some Bud fake craft sub-label?

Eno Sarris: Way way way more the first one. I still drink Elysian.

iron wolf: Eno: there is some talk that Matt Strahm won’t be in the starting rotation for KC this year. Is that true, I have him stashed on my prospect list? It it is, can you recommend a sleeper starter prospect (all of the good ones are taken). Thx!

Eno Sarris: I really like Brock Stewart. Also, Adalberto Mejia should get a shot in Minny.

Josh: What do you think of the Angels bullpen?

Eno Sarris: In maybe four out of 100 universes, it’s really good — Cam Bedrosian closes with his best stuff, Bailey is healthy and a great setup guy, and Street is healthy and useful in the middle. I like Jose Alvarez even.

Eno Sarris: Baseball Hacks for people trying to get into baseball, Big Data Baseball for people trying to understand how the best orgs incorporate data and scouting.

Eno Sarris: Fulmer. Third pitch, the change, was really really nice last year.

Jake: Do you see Tim Anderson as more a defensive utility player down the line or do you think he can be mediocre enough on offense to be at least a consistently league average SS?

Eno Sarris: He’ll be okay enough to be an okay shortstop.

CarrotJuice: Does “empty batting average” mean batting average without any power, or batting average without any walks?

Eno Sarris: Usually both.

Michelle: What are the odds that Dyson stays the closer in TEX?

Eno Sarris: I’d give him 75% or so. 33% lose their jobs, but his sinker makes him relatively safe because he won’t give up homers like others.

AB: Hey Eno, have you seen Nathaniel Grow’s article on Trout? Any thoughts?

Eno Sarris: Would never happen for a couple reasons, my lawyer friends say. One is that I think judges would just assume the CBA makes baseball exempt even if it’s not explicit yet, and two is that baseball could rule that he can get out of his contract but can’t sign another one until the end of the term of the first. You see Mike Trout doing this to make another x million in Japan for the next four years? Probably blackballed when he comes back, too.

Eno Sarris: Maybe more than Blackmon. If you’re talking fantasy, Trea going to steal more than twice what Blackmon will, is my bet.

Eno Sarris: Didn’t love the Eaton return myself, but I guess they a bunch of lotto tickets. Love loved the Sale return.

Bob: Looking to trade A.J. Ramos, Gallo and Hosmer while there is any perceived value of these players. What type of return can I expect? Donaldson.. Betts..?

Eno Sarris: Aim lower.

Eno Sarris: Urias. I see better command.

Andrew Friedman: If Willie Calhoun can’t fix his defense should the Dodgers look to move him to an AL team rebuilding? Maybe to the White Sox in a package to get Quintana?

PhanGraphs: How high are you still on Aaron Nola? The injury ending was disappointing, but he really started the year off tremendously. Thanks!

Eno Sarris: Still a huge fan. Great curve, and his change had the most drop among starters last year!

Towel: Steamer had Trumbo at 110 WRC+. Stick him at first and his previous defensive metrics has him around 2+ wins.

Eno Sarris: I saw launch angle improvements and am willing to give him a bit more than 110.

Hank: I don’t get it, Francisco Lindor is considered a top player in all of baseball. Profar is considered washed up but seems to offer a similar profile, especially from an offensive standpoint. 15-15 above average OBP. What gives?

Eno Sarris: Profar’s arm and the fact that he hasn’t played short in a while?

Eno Sarris: That basically looks like his MLEs. I’d say 70%

kevinthecomic: In your experience, what are player’s responses to being rumored to be traded only to end up staying on their current team? I’m thinking of guys like Dozier and McCutcheon this winter. Are they more “meh, that’s baseball” or “I hate this @$#^! organization for trying to trade me!”

Eno Sarris: I asked a bunch of guys about being traded http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/players-view-what-its-like-to-get-traded/ and it seemed like they were pretty practical about it. You’re usually a veteran by then, and if you don’t leave, you don’t have to move your family and buy a new house and all that crap.

Kevin: Do you think if the Braves have a dreadful 1st half that Coppy will consider moving any of Freeman, Teheran, or Ender? They seem way to optimistic to me.

Eno Sarris: Yes I think they will consider it. Some of this is to try and build a good team for the second or third year of the new park.

SDinSEA: One thing I’ve never understood is why Judge seems to be more highly thought of than Renfroe. Seems like Renfroe has been much more consistent. Is it about body projection?

Eno Sarris: I’ll take Renfroe.

ManBearPuig: What is your favorite nickname for a current major leaguer?

Eno Sarris: Your handle and Cueto’s body type made me think we should call him Manburguesa but maybe that’s impolite. My brain is failing me. Aren’t they mostly terrible?

Scott: With the unpredictability of knuckleballs, what separates the guys who throw them? Would seem like command matters less since you’re just releasing it in the direction of the catcher and crossing your fingers. I’m sure I’m missing something.

Eno Sarris: Velocity. They do way better at 78-80+.

Greg Holland: What is my over/under on saves this year?

Eno Sarris: 10? He won’t be signed to *be* the closer, but he’ll be signed to a team that is collecting possible closers?

Okra: Do you think Matt Moore finally has a break through year in 2017 in SF?

Eno Sarris: Best situation for him, and the cutter could help his walk numbers. I could see a 3.5/1.25 year with 8.5K9, 3ish bb9.

Q-Ball: Tell us more about Brock Stewart. He’s flown totally under the prospect radar, but had a great year in the high minors last year, capped off with a good ML stint, and one of the top starter pitches. He might not even make the Dodgers rotation. Yet, breakout candidate?

Eno Sarris: Well, he needs the playing time, but as we saw last year, you can never count out the seventh guy on a team. He upped his velo to averaging plus velocity, great spin on the fastball, plus slider (look at piece today), changeup has like 12 mph gap. He should be good.

Lazaruto: Is wilmer Flores good?

Eno Sarris: Against lefties.

Brett: With Cotton, do the A’s have a potential #2 or is he back-end?

Eno Sarris: I’m saying two, other people say I’m crazy.

Danny: RE: Kershaw’s elite command; it’s really weird because when you look at him, he has a very weird/unique delivery that doesn’t make it look like he SHOULD have elite command. Especially compared to guys with easy deliveries and bad command

Eno Sarris: True. Fire take: I hate his delivery.

Eno Sarris: But I bet the movement on the pitch makes it easier to command?

iron wolf: I’m looking for a corner IF and knowing how much you like Healy, I tried to make a deal for him but the other guy wants CMart as part of the deal. He has talked about adding Nola and R. Lopez to finish it. Do I pull the trigger for it in a pts. league?

Eno Sarris: Maybe if third part was better than Lopez. Nola and Healy for CMart is actually okay for me if you’re not dropping a good player to make it happen, but he was willing to add a third piece, so look for a better one.

SDinSEA: Do certain talents simply break the 20-80 scale? For example, obv B Hamilton is an 80 speed. But I’ve also seen Buxton graded at 80. Hamilton is clearly faster.

Eno Sarris: Good point. The problem is the fake precision. You wouldn’t ask them to call one guy a 76 and another a 77 but that’s how life works.

SDinSEA: Is there a weighting system used when it comes to grading pitches? I.e.: Pitch Grade (X)=(command*.4)+(movement*.4)+(velocity*.2) where walk rate, y/x axis movement and average velo are taken into account?

Eno Sarris: That’s sort of what I’m working on. Taking movement, spin, velocity, velocity of previous pitch, spin of previous pitch, location, location of previous pitch, park, umpire, batter swing tendencies into account….

Snarfle: One of my coworkers just got anesthesia for arm surgery, and somehow I started thinking about what would happen if you gave cavemen anesthesia freely, and my first thought was ‘they would stop evolving,’ which isn’t true, but they might be a different sort of beast with freely available pain relief, and that made me wonder what kind of beasts WE are evolving into. This is what I did the last thirty seconds instead of checking my work email.

SDinSEA: Do you think the Red Sox should try Pomeranz in a fireman role similar to Andrew Miller? The similarities are intriguing. Both were, at one point, failed starters drafted in the top 10 that have revitalized their careers. With the potential SP surplus in Boston, could they derive greater value from Pom in this role? Prior to the development of his cutter this past season when he was still a FB/Curve guy, it would seem like a pretty engaging concept

Eno Sarris: He’s been mucked around with before, too, from the four starter days in Colorado to the up and down in Oakland and San Diego. I think they’ll start with him in the rotation but consider this as a backup plan.

ohioastrosfan: I’m very knowledgeable of the game and the more advanced stats. Started my first after college job and the guys in the office are trying to convince me to play fantasy baseball with them for the first time this year. Worth it for the #networking, but is fantasy baseball worth taking the time to play? And can I wipe the floor with my less knowledgeable coworkers?

Eno Sarris: I enjoy it. I went too far with it, peaking around 15-16 leagues, but one league should be fun.

Moltar: Honestly, I can’t hate on major brewers’ craft labels. If it means I can get a half-decent IPA at a ballpark or a dive bar, inBev can take my money.

Eno Sarris: I can’t get past this. I remember when the best beer at the park or Safeway was Stella. This is better.

Eno Sarris: Real baseball: Mazara, Conforto, Dahl. Fantasy: Dahl, Mazara, Conforto.

Eno Sarris: Dunno. It’s a low-spin fastball for all that velocity, and if you look at his K%s, they haven’t been great. I’m not sure about him.

Eno Sarris: When he hits better than .240, sadly.

Paul: Any value in the fact that Albies destroyed Lindor when you compare MiLB numbers and factor age/level? Could the Braves have something special in Albies?

Eno Sarris: I really like Albies, but I guess the defense is a big part of this. Plus Lindor admitted to concentration issues in the minors, don’t know how that factors in.

Eno Sarris: So many stars are in another world, never got cut off from the parents and had to find a job. It’s okay.

Only 38 Days : Can you admit that making a good pilsner is art? I can crap out an IPA in 2-3 weeks with all of the hops masking the imperfections. With pils, there’s nowhere to hide.

Eno Sarris: Of course. I love Firestone Walker Pivo Pils, Victory Prima Pils, and Pinkus Organic Ur-Pils, they in regular rotation in my house and I understand it’s hard to brew them.

Eno Sarris: I might do Hamels when he came in. 70 change 60 fastball. Hope that I can build up his body and get the fastball to 70. With good makeup, he can make the third pitch improve or just sequence it well.

Eno Sarris: But modern pitching thought seems to be moving to 70 curve 60 fastball or the like.
