Eno Sarris: wait a second. that’s impressive. 17% whiffs on the change, 16% whiffs on the slider, 8.7% on the four-seam…

Eno Sarris: too many homers on the change so far. not a bad sleeper, dude.

Brad: What do you make of Brandon Mauer having an uber-elite batted ball velocity against of 84.09 mph?

Eno Sarris: He also had the highest spin rate on the curve and is bringing it back. And is in mix for rotation. But he’s burned us so many times, I’ll call him a deep league dollar guy at best. Maybe more if it sounds like they pimping him for closer.

Bork: It’s a good thing the D’Backs are holding onto that last pick instead of going for it this year. Will really ensure their teams future success instead of going for it this year.

Eno Sarris: But they could trade that player right away like they have the last two!

Brad: How much do you trust John Lamb’s per pitch data? Smallish sample size but 15% whiffs on the cutter, 22% whiffs on the change, and 19% whiffs on the curve seems pretty impressive

Eno Sarris: Actually I really like him. Doesn’t have great velocity, but he’s in the right league now to hide that fastball, and anyway the fastball has great rise. Give me a piece of Lamb in any league.

Justin: Is Piazza’s election to the Hall a sign that perhaps the rest of the steroid-clouded players stand a chance?

Eno Sarris: He literally said, of himself and other players under the cloud, that baseball has made mistakes, people have made mistakes, baseball has healed, and it’s time to move on with positivity. What a weird answer! Non-answer. In any case, I do hear more analysts talking about just lumping them all together and calling it the steroid era and acting accordingly, so I do think at least Bonds and Clemens will be in and it will be a super uncomfortable time full of Hot Takery and BS but they should be in.

Eno Sarris: Good god yes. He was a top-20 guy in exit velocity, under 25, and has an up the middle approach, cut his k%. I was in on him in Miami, and in SF, and would love love him in Texas.

Brad: is it crazy to think Billy Hamilton could hit .260 with 70 steals this year?

Eno Sarris: No. OBP might still be .305 or summat. But the book is not writ on a guy that started switch hitting in the minor leagues. Dex Fowler had fits and starts.

Fred Bird : Cardinals / Rockies trade still a possibility I suppose, but while everyone knows it’s hard to value Rockies ofs, how do you value Matt Adams?

Eno Sarris: Yeah, I have one share of Adams that I’m staring a hole into. It’s in an OBP league and fairly worthless if Moss and Piscotty are going to play 1B some, and I think they will. But if he gets traded to Coors… What do you think the chances are? 10%

Brad: Is it fair to look for some more batting average out of Anthony Rizzo based on his improving K% and Swinging strikes?

Eno Sarris: It is, but projections have him regressing to his previously established K%, which is the more reasonable way to go. But he’s 26, and he could have that Huge MVP Year any year now.

Vic: More surprising in 2016 for Buxton….80 runs, 15 HRs, 30 SBs, and a .280 AVG or 40 runs, 5 HRs, 10 SBs and a .230 AVG?

Owen S.: This may be a question better suited for a Dave, but let’s see if you can help: Why do most players have two separate steamer projections? One on their main page, and one listed under their team’s depth chart. Aroldis Chapman, par example, has a 1.4 WAR projection on his player page (65IP) and a 2.2 WAR projection on the 2016 Yankee depth chart (65 IP). Double-You Tee Eff

Eno Sarris: I believe it has to do with who controls the playing time… wait what? same playing time? Maybe it has to do with putting him at the closer role or not. Depth charts may also have something to do with leverage, if they put him at closer or something.

Eno Sarris: Dang. I really want in on Heyward on a new team with a new hitting coach, but Thor is the madness. I’ll go Thor, though his forearm things in the past are a little scary.

Harrison: Quick fantasy question. Would you trade Stanton in a points league for either Machado or Arenado. Need help at 3b.

Eno Sarris: Yes. Machado, I think, though I’d take either. Both first rounders. Stanton also, but back end.

Eno Sarris: I’ll rein it in a bit and call it .260/.320 with 22-25 homers.

Eno Sarris: Eh, he hits everything in the air, wouldn’t be surprised if his natural BABIP level wasn’t any better than .265-.270.

Owen S.: What are your thoughts on Ramirez? Better or worse than Cabrera? Obviously neither hold a candle to Rodriguez.

Eno Sarris: McCullough said he thought he took the biggest offer, and I suspec that’s true.

Zach: Is Comforto a .300 20 HR guy at peak?

Eno Sarris: I’ll give him more power.

Eno Sarris: He has excellent oppo power though, so the batting average is certainly possible.

Brad: Am I wrong to be a little skeptical of Lucas Giolito’s eliteness? “only” a 10% swinging strike rate in AA by Statcorner last year…big fastball big curveball combo doesn’t seem one that is often Elite

Eno Sarris: I traded away my share. Ks went down, the change didn’t seem to progress, his team could easily go with high floor over ceiling given their place on the run curve..

Josh: Why does steamer seem to hate Sonny Gray so much, especially with the WHIP?

Eno Sarris: Been writing about that. Easy answer is that he’s had a low BABIP so far, but not in a sample big enough to believe it. Hard answer: he may be elite at getting pull grounders and oppo flies, which are good outcomes.

Prince Wednesday: I whipped up a batch of the honey, dijon, sriracha spread, substituting Texas Pete and it’s awesome too. Recommend trying if you haven’t.

Eno Sarris: It’s the bees knees.

Mike: Speaking of Fowler…would he be a fit for the Mets? Can platoon in CF with Lagares or play other OF positions to spell Grandy and Conforto. Or is he just too pricy?

Eno Sarris: Problem is that his best side is the side Lagares hits from, and his D might not be CF any more. I *also* don’t think they going to spend on him.

TheRealYohanFlande: Why are the Braves so adamant about holding on to Freeman? Seems like if you’re gonna rebuild, you should just go all in. Also, is the singer Adam Ant a weird pun on the word “adamant” or is that just a coincidence?

Eno Sarris: I think they think they have him under contract so long and so good that they’ll be good again while he’s still there. Looks like a decent skillset for aging too. and… yes, I’ve had that thought, but I don’t know for sure.

LarryA: Silino Branchos ZIPS projection was really really nice. Im talking about a 31% K-rate, 6% BB rate. Are we looking at a Betances type year from him?

Eno Sarris: Super straight fastball, but maybe so straight it’s slightly cut? In any case, yes, I would make the sexy time with his statistics.

Mark: What are your thoughts on young Rockie OF Dahl and Tapia?

Eno Sarris: Tapia is so so so weird. In his two-strike counts, he crouches down and becomes an extreme slap hitter. It’s such an obvious tell that I think it will be easy for pitchers to manipulate him. Maybe he can be a slap-hitting D guy with speed, but I’m not spending much to find out. Dahl a little more interesting, and could come up this year, so I’d take a share.

Eno Sarris: yes.

Q-Ball: Awhile ago you penned an article basically entitled “The Pirates should think out of the box and sign John Jaso for 1B”. 2 weeks later, the Pirates did exactly that. Did a Pirates intern show Huntington your article? Are you a genius?

Eno Sarris: I am not a genius, no way. Just went through the same thought process they went through, probably: cheap, left-handed, doesn’t require players to get.

Eno Sarris: (and has some upside, has been great v LHP)

Codes: Framing stats should always be described as rate stats right? I get irked when I see framing numbers presented as pitches saved over the course of the year. In my mind I liken this to hits per season. Am I wrong?

Eno Sarris: Some people really prefer counting stats. I don’t get it.

What if……: ……you had your own hour long regular show on the MLB Network, what would be the theme of your show? Who would you want as your co-host/sidekick?

Eno Sarris: I’d have fun doing pitching and hitting with Farnsworth, or maybe just making it all about pitching with Sporer.

Eno Sarris: No, not those jabronis. I’ll put Conforto against Duda because he’s a more complete hitter, but Duda pretty awesome cleanup guy.

Phil: You all about the Grapefruit Sculpin? It’s got a ridiculous BA and beergraphs rating and all my Untappd friends like it too. I just had it yesterday on draft for the first time… and man did I not dig it. Tasted like rather bitter grapefruit juice sat in the fridge for a year. Maybe I had a bad batch or keg? Maybe the most disappointing beer experience of my life given the hype and that I adore regular Sculpin.

Eno Sarris: To me it tastes like a Shandy, too sweet, dunno if that fits your description. I have it sometimes, but I don’t prefer it.

jtt: Are Coors park effects too harsh on non-power hitters? Dexter fowler and juan pierre posted similar numbers after they got traded but their wRC jumped like 40 points

Eno Sarris: There’s definitely something there. I don’t blame the park factor structure, Coors might just be that much of an outlier. Also, there’s evidence that Coors has a hangover effect on hitters, that they hit worse on the road than they ‘should’, which also probably hurts the park factors.

Hoff: I’m debating about FG+ for my go to fantasy source this year. Say something to put me over the top!

Bracho Cheez: Bracho’s swstrk (15%) on the fastball is so weird, especially considering it’s 93. How can that be a fastball? That’s Mariano elite.

Eno Sarris: The x value on that is so far divergent from average (almost four inches ‘straighter’) that I bet it acts like a cut fastball. And a cut fastball at 93 is actually pretty sexy.

Eno Sarris: Hoover will, but I bet on Diaz longer term. Wish he wasn’t so old though.

Eno Sarris: I’d call it something I’m nervous about rather than projecting. The change has two inches of drop and 10 mph of difference.. if he trusts it, then he’s ace-level.

Drew: How tf does Clemens get more votes than Bonds? I’m angry about this. They are both highly connected to PEDs so if you’re not voting for one because of that, then how can you vote for the other?

Hambino: Hey Eno! What do you think about Nomar Mazara? I have a hard time separating baseball prospects from fantasy baseball prospects.

Eno Sarris: I’ve been staring a hole into his page, even checked with some people in the game. I think he’s a really good prospect, but more top 25 than top 10. Especially in fantasy, since he won’t steal many bases and doesn’t have big power. Betting on batting average is super scary.

Uncle Philz: dude. Jerad Eickhoff. Pretty damn good last couple months of last year. so-so velo but elite slider if you look at the swstrk. Expectations?

Eno Sarris: On the list because the fastball rises well and gets lots of pop pups. And the change has been good in small sample. I’ll probably rank him 60-70 or so. Definitely a mixed leaguer.

anon: Can you explain the difference between the defensive measures and what is not included in current measures?

Eno Sarris: Right now, most defensive positioning stats give the player credit for his positioning because we haven’t known where the player starts the play and because they used to do more of their own positioning. In the future, as we get more data on where the player starts the play, we’ll be able to talk about how far the player has actually gone to make the play.

Eno Sarris: Going from 20th best bat to 10-15 because he’s a SS is fine with me.

Felix: Yelich or Rendon in a Dynasty league? Both had injury issues last year.
