Eno Sarris: Impossible. I can say that I think he’ll be at the top of the lineup, so more runs than RBI. And I do think he can be healthier. So something like 90/80?

How does the move to Philly change your thoughts on AJ? The groundballs help keep the ball in the park but I’m not sure about the defense for the Phillies infield and their lack of shifting compared to the Pirates. I had him pegged for about 15 wins and 3.50 ERA with Pirates but I’m thinking 11 and 3.90 now.

Eno Sarris: Yeah you can push the ERA up a bit, but I’m not buying this idea that it’s New York all over again. It’s still the NL, the ballpark is not that tiny, and he started using a two-seamer more since. I’m not calling him an ace or anything, but he’s a mixed leaguer.

Eno Sarris: Upside. Even with the curve ball, I’m taking Harvey and Cashner and winning when they’re both healthy.

Eno Sarris: Well in terms of age and prospect pedigree, for sure. And Garcia is in the right place for his power to blossom. You might lose out on year one though.

Moving to a 14-team league from 12 teams — auction draft, OBP league. Never done such a deep league. Any suggestions for how drafting strategy might/should shift?

Eno Sarris: Take a look at the 13th – 16th best at each position to get an idea of scarcity in your league. It changes just with two teams.

Hi Eno…I recall last year this time where Starlin Castro was being mentioned as the possible best SS (including on Rotographs) and a year later, he’s being drafted much later in early mocks. Has that much changed?

Eno Sarris: All the momentum he had, in terms of the fact that everything was pre-peak and moving in the right direction, was halted. It’s hard to project him past 2012 now, not after 2013. So now he looks like a .280/12/15 guy at best. Still useful, but you can’t project him much past that.

Eno Sarris: What’s harder. hitting or pitching in snow? Running is, at least. Pitching might be too. Maybe the Sox would have the best advantage, because of their hitting, and they aren’t really built on speed.

Eno Sarris: For me, Ozuna. His strikeout rate was much better than what you would expect from Marisnick, and he has power and speed. Even with regression, I think he’ll be better. and they stuck with him some, which is a good sign.

Eno Sarris: They just won’t give you any Ks and that makes their upside so much lower than others. I might keep the cheaper one, but I don’t have much hope that either will add more Ks.

Eno Sarris: Yeah he’s a lock. It was going to be two of Erasmo, Paxton, Baker, now it has to be three, or Maurer over Baker. Deep leaguers shouldn’t forget Maurer.

Eno Sarris: Wait on catchers yessss. Pitchers? I still want in on the elites, I used to wait until the tenth, but I feel better picking two guys in the top 20. So that usually means picking pitching in the 5th and 7th or so.

Eno, what do you think of Maikel Franco, he’s ranked #52 on BPs top 101 list this year, but his performance, power and ability to make contact seem to suggest he could be a big time fanto-3B soon. Thoughts?

Eno Sarris: I like him and took him with my third pick in a fantasy league farm system draft for BP, and most people liked the pick. In fantasy rankings, you have to bump all the position players higher and leave defensive concerns largely to the wayside. He’s got power and his team will give him a chance at third.

Eno Sarris: Mocks have him going at the turn, but wow. I mean, I don’t love love Adam Jones’ real-life game, but we’re going to take Harper ahead of him now? There’s some faithcasting in there. I’d rather have him in the middle of the second, perhaps ahead of Stanton, who’s a one-catter, but that means I won’t get many shares of Harper.

Prognosticators have been down on A. Simmons it seems for this year. He’s still pretty young. Why wouldn’t he improve?

Eno Sarris: I think the power might come back, but pop-up rate is fairly strong year to year and he’s shown that flaw twice now. He might not have a lot of good batting average years.

Do you like the idea of “Hitters early, pitchers late” or do you think there is no foolproof strategy and it is more of a play it based on how the draft goes?

Eno Sarris: Pitchers hit the DL more often, stay longer. Pitchers’ projections are about 75% as successful as hitter projections. Pitchers make up less of your lineup. Pitchers are grouped into two positions while hitters have many more. These are reasons to wait. If your draft starts going nuts though, I would try to get the last of a tier rather than just poop out of top pitching alltogether.

Eno Sarris: No! Ramos is a great value pick. Lobaton is there for when he’s hurt or needs a day off.

Eno Sarris: Not many of them. In deep leagues, La Stella is interesting, but he doesn’t have job off the bat. Gennett in slightly more shallow leagues, but not in mixed leagues IMO. You know who I like, perhaps unreasonably, in mixed leagues?? RENDON! I think he showed health and he’s going to improve across the board. Remember the pedigree and that he has more power than he showed.

Eno, Gattis was a big story in 2013, now McCann is in NY and Gattis is projo’d to hit 4th in good Braves line-up. The man can crush it, seems like a legit candidate to hit 30+ HRs this season assuming health. Wouldn’t that make him a top 5 catcher easy? Thoughts?

Eno Sarris: There is concern that his bad plate approach will give him fewer chances to hit those bombs. And he’s so much older than the other power guy at the position, there’s not much projection left. I wouldn’t go putting him in 30 homer pants yet.

Eno Sarris: Well 1000 would be pretty amazing. But yeah, even 100 is too much for him. He needs more power too.

I was hoping you could briefly describe your methodology for creating a value formula each season. Do you use slope regression on prior seasons results and use those results in a Standard Game Points (SGP)formula?

Eno Sarris: Zimm is your guy for that. I’m much more intuitive. I use Steamer to rein in my excitement, and then I add and subtract little bits here and there. I’ve been using Zach’s system with some tweaks, but I might switch to Art McGee’s system this year.

Eno Sarris: I was doing a query last night and Chen has the worst slider in baseball, 6.7% swinging strikes. Turns out it’s a cutter, but that still stinks. I’ll take a shot at Erasmo’s changeup and home park.

Eno Sarris: Def skipping over Seager/Ararmis/Sandoval, and Lawrie in ninth…. Donaldson in 9th… that’s kind of sexy. But Headley in the 18th… might want to get both. What happens if you wait on Headley and someone nabs him.
