Eno Sarris: I have no big doubts about Cobb in the short term. The curve and change are solid, and he has great control and command. Long-term, I do wonder what happens as the fastball velocity starts to slip.

Eno Sarris: At the winter meetings, his manager seemed to think things needed to fall in line for Cron in order for him to play. So I’ll take him at his word. Obviously, Ibanez/whomever takes over for Pujols at first when he DHs is not the very best DH situation, though, so he’s got a shot. And I know prospecters are all about Cron’s flaws, but gotdang if he doesn’t look exactly like Trumbo statistically.

I know most guys are generally conservative with rookies, and for good reason. But, if Taveras and Bogaerts were better than expected this year, what could they conceivably hit in 2014? Talking a Trout/Jose Fernandez best case scenario.

Eno Sarris: Taveras is *really* blocked, but I think he could .290/20/10 if something happened in the spring. XB is a lot closer, probably has the job. I think he’ll *probably* suffer from a 22-24% strikeout rate and hit .260, but if he pushed that down to 20% and had a little BABIP love, he really could hit .280+/25/15. At short.

Eno Sarris: I thought I answered this on twitter. My bad. Ks is all about Gausman. Upside is Gausman’s. Combo of upside and security is Wood. That leaves Ross with the smallest upside, even if he’s got the most secure role. I think I’d take Gausman, just because the Braves got those two old dudes behind Wood, and I love Gausman’s stuff, but Wood is a good pick too. Ross still no changeup, crazy bad mechanics.

Commish in our keeper league wants to change AVG to OBP this year. OBP is superior to AVG, obviously but I’m hesitant to make any changes. What are your thought on making changes to keeper league stats?

Eno Sarris: Usually in keeper leagues, the decision is for the *next* year, which in this case is 2015. In other words, you always want a draft between you and the rule change, so that you can adjust to what’s coming. I like OBP.

Eno Sarris: Choo will steal bases and has a more complete line and is an OBP monster, but you are getting ahead of the aging curve here, and buying power as power is down across baseball…

Eno Sarris: Probably want setup guys on teams that don’t have great other options. Like Cody Allen. Maybe Santiago Casilla will be sneaky good. Farquhar should get saves or holds and Ks. Dingers suck, so maybe a guy in a pitcher’s park like Ryan Cook.

Eno Sarris: This season only? Baez has to be close, and Bryant can play if they give up on third base. If Castro sucks again, maybe they move him to second and bring up Baez. Olt should see some time before Bryant. If Olt is cromulent, maybe Bryant comes up in COF. Lots of moving parts. Baez is obviously closest.

Eno Sarris: No I don’t think so. Good projection for him is about .265/20/10 which is useful, but not that outstanding in the OF.

Eno Sarris: His only real problem is that he’s not a good basestealer and he hits the ball straight up in the air too much. If he can get rid of that 17% infield fly rate, he could hit .300, he has enough power and contact. But IFFB% is actually correlated about as well year-to-year as wOBA, so it would take a semi-fundamental change. I’d feel better going by the projections on our site, maybe taking him a round earlier if you think he can level the swing.

Eno Sarris: Okay help me try this one on for size. 70/30 is close to ideal. Here comes jenky math. Hitter projections correlate around .70 with reality. Pitcher projections correlate at .5ish. .5 is about .75 of .7. .75 of 40 (which is the positional split between hitters and pitchers) is 30.

Eno Sarris: If he stays in bigs, it’s because he’s doing just enough. .260/.315. If he can manage that, I actually think his D will be good (on athleticism alone) and then he can steal 60+. It’s no lock he can manage that. Dee Gordon has spooked some people.

Cole/Taillon is exciting. Lots to like. Just wish they’d have gotten a 1B. Maybe they’ll get Morales for cheap.

What is a good fly ball / line drive / ground rate? I see the numbers in a vacuum on each player’s page, but how do you read the peripherals comparatively?

Eno Sarris: 21% league ave for LD. “good” for GB/FB is tough. Generally, you want fast guys with higher GB rates (but Carlos Gomez has been much better with a high FB rate and power) and you want power guys with higher FB rates (but not too high). I like guys that hover around 1.0 GB/FB, seems like a level swing. Look at Donaldson’s GB/FB and power over his career.

League switching to H2H this year. What are the main stategical differences between it and roto?

Eno Sarris: You have to worry a bit more about young pitchers at the end of the year (innings limits), maybe it’s not great to have too many hitters from one team (they can run into a great-pitching buzzsaw of a team at the wrong time), and remember that your last two or three spots in the draft are almost irrelevant and you might as well reach for upside that might be quickly reached, like a closer candidate or a young guy that *could* make the team out of ST.

Pizza Port: high quantity of releases (over 400 on Untappd, average ~50 a year), generally stick to common pale/IPA/2xIPA/stout/porter styles with a couple exceptions, mediocre Style+ compared to other options, BAR depends on quantity of releases. Decent floor because of so many new beers, upside for BAR and I guess maybe Style+ if you think they’ve been improving recently. Eno Sarris: Projections start, at the very bottom, with Marcel for the most part. Marcel weights last year 5 times, the year before 3 times, the year before twice. Then divide by ten. Steamer then puts in last year velocity and GB trends. Then you compare the player to their place on the aging curve. Lots of stuff in there.

Going to take the plunge and try Ottoneu pts. league! Am I right in saying that it’s pretty similar to regular pts. leagues in that you want power, good BA, and good walk rate for hitters, and SPs that can get you approx. 200 innings with a good K rate without giving up a lot of HRs?

Is playing with both sides of a real life platoon (e.g. Gomes-Nava, Parra-Ross maybe) a viable fantasy strategy for 4th OF slot?
