Brian: Your pitcher rankings suggest you’re lower on Verlander than most. I know Sporer is a believer. What are you seeing that he isn’t?

Eno Sarris: I think I’ll revise that up. Apparently he’s got the best fastball spin rate, and when seen in tandem with the fact that he found his rise again last year, I think a lot of his struggles were release point related. If that’s true, and he’s healthy, it all seems fixable. I’ll move him up above Shields, maybe into the low 30s. I should update those.

Bork: Can you get a free agent to get an Eno clause in his contract in which you get to be around a team 24/7 like Laroche had?

Eno Sarris: Judging how Greinke gave me an hour last week after he told the beats that they had to pool their questions, I might have a chance.

Astro Boy: Who’s leading the way for the Astros’ 1B job as of today?

Eno Sarris: Taylor White?

Wayne: Does Cano bounce back this year, or are we seeing the beginning of the end?

Eno Sarris: I think health was a big part of that picture.

Jack: Eno, there isn’t a real possibility Buehrle returns to the South Side – is there?

Eno Sarris: Doubt it if he’s not throwing, but the point was to stretch my mind and think of anything that *could* happen, not necessarily what’s likely to happen. There are plenty of reasons to argue against each of my bold predictions, as well as this White Sox one.

Eno Sarris: Ross. Worried that Roark gives way to Giolito fairly soon.

Please Help: Specific question but much appreciated if you can answer it. I’ve been offered Smyly for my Semien in an AL-only league. I could use the pitching and I have Rollins on my bench, but man I love Semien this year. Would you pull the trigger?

Eno Sarris: Nah. I’d rather pump up Rollins with a good first week or few, and then try to trade for a struggler I like.

Andrew: Hi Eno! I have first pick in my draft this weekend. Keep 3 years no penalties 5×5 w/ OBP instead of AVG: Who do you pick between McCutchen, Gordon, or C. Seager? Am I overthinking it by leaning Seager? Thanks!

Eno Sarris: Cutch clearly out in front in an OBP league and unless it’s super deep, Seager has to hit close to his top percentiles to make it the wrong decision.

Whit: Do you like Rizzo over Arenado this year fantasy wise?

Eno Sarris: I do. Rizzo Is not a minus in any category with those steals, and I’m not sure Arenado hits 40 again.

Eno Sarris: Jose, if only for non-baseball reasons.

Texas Dolly: Who’s the closer in Texas on Opening Day?

Eno Sarris: Sam Dyson. Closer to free agency than Keone Kela, power righty arm with Ks and a super high floor with the GBs, and he got the last save.

Maxamuz: I’m relying on some sleepers for the back end of my rotation. I have Kluber, Archer, Salazar as my top 3, with Wei-Yin Chen, Jason Hammel, Carlos Rodon, Kevin Gausman and Alex Wood rounding out the back. Am I going to regret this decision not to go more heavy over top end SP in a league with QS / K9 / ERA / WHIP / SV / HLD?

Eno Sarris: k9 means you have to get as many aces as you can, unfortunately. However, the three ace approach isn’t terrible. I might sit some of those guys in bad matchups to try and keep the k9 high, get some really good relievers.

Adam: Would you ever see a case for keeping Carrasco over Joey Bats in an auction league, when you know it’s going to be a dogfight for the top SPs, and a ton of SPs are being kept already?

Eno Sarris: It’s okay, yes.

Eno Sarris: They shrugged off the Matt Cain debacle, so they probably going to be fine. At some point every machine slows down, but you have to think at least one of their two pitchers is okay going forward.

Matt: Michael Wacha or Jake Odorizzi: Both seemed to be relatively equally ranked, but Wacha has a higher perceived value, and will likely be more expensive. Given that, who do you go with, if only one?

Eno Sarris: Michael Wacha. I don’t believe in Odorizzi’s breaking ball yet.

Yakety Sax: Really enjoyed the interview you (and others) did with John Smoltz. When he talks about the fastball-slider or fastball-curve-slider guys that just can’t throw a change, the first guy I thought of was current Brave Mike Foltynewicz. Folty threw a lot of two-seamers last year (more than a quarter of his pitches). You think he should focus on throwing more fourseamers up in the zone to go along with the curve and slider? Also, can Smoltz teach him the split? Lefties absolutely killed Folty last year.

Eno Sarris: I’ll have to look at his arm slot, but if he’s anywhere close to over the top, yeah perhaps a 4s would be better. Not everyone’s hands work for splitties, and hasn’t he had some injuries?

Merv Throneberry is back: Thinking of trading Osuna for Dilson Herrera in a dynasty deal in hopes of a 20/15 showing by next year…thoughts?

Eno Sarris: Roberto? Maybe, but he could start. Marcello Ozuna? No.

Jake Larsen: Of the craziness that has gone on this offseason, what’s the pinnacle for you thus far? Gossage? Yo’s cars? Panda’s tantrum? Fowler?

Eno Sarris: None of it is really out of character for baseball though is it? Though the tantrum being about defensive stats is fun.

The Dude of NY: You compared Samardzija to Lincicum on Twitter. Besides both having difficult names to spell, what are the odds that Samardzija is a disaster from year one?

Eno Sarris: The reasoning: stuff guys with bad command that age poorly as the stuff goes. Lincecum’s bendy stuff was better, too. Probably not that insane, and apparently he hit 94, but even if he averaged something like 92.4, even if you give him a full mph between now and the season — which is too much for me three starts in — he’ll be at a career low, and his number of 94+ fastballs (which have much better outcomes) will be drastically down.

Bryce Sharpens His Image: Eugenio Suarez is moving up some depth charts, should we be more interested than before?

Eno Sarris: Always liked him a bit. Not going to go over board or anything.

Rusty: What types pitchers would you target in a 10tm ESPN league where everyone rosters 9SP’s all year and cycles through pitchers on the waiver wire like crazy? Do pitchers with projected low innings totals, but with great ratios and stuff (Drew Smyly, Rich Hill come to mind) have more value in a league like this? Would you spend 33% of your budget on pitching in a league like this?

Eno Sarris: Don’t bother with the ‘sleepers.’ Get some aces early and then peace out on starters. You’ll be rotating guys in anyway, how long you going to keep Rich Hill if he gets rocked for a few starts.

No one beats the Wiz: Are you bullish on Kyle Hendricks? He was solid in the 2nd half last year (2.84 xFIP and 9.78 K/9). Seems like a great value and a chance to finish inside the top 30 SP and he’s going at like pick 210 right now in Yahoo! Playing for a good Cubs team!!

Eno Sarris: As much as I like Warren, after talking to Hendricks, I’m sure he’ll win the job. I like that he’s refining his curve to steal strikes, but I’m a little worried that he only has one swinging strike pitch. Still, good command, a mechanical adjustment that improved his command last year, a refined pitch this spring, I’ll absolutely take him there.

Randy Savage: I’m in a 1 catcher obp league. Should I try to wait towards the end of the draft to grab whatever one of Grandal, Vogt, or Wieters falls, or should I go ahead and pay for say a Lucroy? There seems to be a lot of same-ness after the first 3 or so catchers are off the board.

Eno Sarris: Take the guy that drops.

Bork: You should be a child with you everywhere like Laroche, by the time he is an adult he will be the ultimate lude machine, and your life will be complete.

Eno Sarris: And he would be nonsensical to 99% of the population.

AL-only Guy: I currently have one closer in my AL-only league. I’ve been offered Cody Allen for my Hanley, and I’m not sure if I should consider it. I’ve always been good at plucking vultures off the wire, so I feel like giving up a guy with Hanley’s upside could be a mistake so early on in the year. Not to mention, I don’t exactly have a great backup to replace him as of yet. What say you?

Eno Sarris: Try to find your closer. One closer and a few setup men is a good spot for March.

Rusty: I have Addison Russell value at about $6 in a 10 tm league w/ 18hr/10stl/.265 BUT It’s a keeper league where you can keep them forever at $5 over the prior year price. What price would you pay for Addison Russell in a league like this?

Eno Sarris: I can’t imagine pushing past $10.

Spirou: Avisail Garcia making adjustments to his batting stance + now having a clear path to regular playing time.If i tell you 270-20 HR over a full season.Are you a believer ? Or maybe the WS will make a trade ?

Eno Sarris: The only thing that makes me wonder about him is that he did find some exit velocity and more fly balls late last year, which might mean the power is coming. Mostly I feel we’ve waited long enough.

RotoLando: Give us an unreasonably optimistic prediction, based on a super small sample size.

Eno Sarris: The hell he will. Bad joke. Yeah, Rosario and Park have enough bust rate, Buxton enough bust and injury rate, and Sano/Plouffe/Park could shuffle in a way that provides Kepler a chance this year.

Big Bob: In 2 yrs, who’s the better fantasy SS……Seager or Correa

Eno Sarris: Correa

Aaron: This year is my first time auction drafting after 6 years of snake draft. Strategies/advice?

Eno Sarris: Get your values set, have five or six targets per position, and a few ideas of key players that will make you change strategy in other spots. You can get who you want to get, but that doesn’t mean the draft won’t change your plan as it unfolds.

Jesse: There doesn’t seem to be consistency in the way “#1 starter, #2 starter,” etc. is used. Is a #1 starter a #1 for some team (meaning a top-30 starter)? It seems like it’s more often used “#1 for a contender” (meaning a #1 is really a top-12-type pitcher). I am flummoxed when I hear people say, for example, Jose Berrios projects as a #3 starter if he pans out. If he pans out, he’s the Twins’ (non-contender) #1 starter today, isn’t he?!

Eno Sarris: Not every team has a number one and we have to have a normalized term, #1 starter has to be top 15 or 20 type pitcher, IMO. I see a tier around 15-17 every year in fantasy terms, so that’s what I think of as an ace.

Erik: Is the Cubs’ hitting-first rebuild an accepted good strategy? As a Phillies fan, should I be worried that the new FO seems to be taking a pitching-first approach, given the success of the Cubs’ rebuild?

Eno Sarris: Established young pitching seems like gold, but projection systems are worse at finding pitchers, which means opportunity: you can find the guy that’s an adjustment away. The Cubs model is the way I’d go.

Tom: Are we getting tiers from Rotographs this year?

Eno Sarris: I’ll tell them all to do their positions as soon as they done with Bold Prediction season.

Ron: You can’t REALLY think Dyson is the Texas closer right now, can you? Sure, Dyson had one save in the playoffs, but I’ve seen nothing from the Rangers that indicate they’re moving away from Tolleson in the closer role in 2016. I understand if you’re wanting to make a bold call, but to say you really think Dyson is the closer right now seems like a big stretch.

Eno Sarris: I’m scarfing crazy pills but if the season started today, I’d be right. Tolleson just debuted last night and has back issues. You’re right that it’s a stretch on opening day, but I’m not buying Tolleson so that makes Dyson my Rangers pick either way.

CamdenWarehouse: How can Shark show Linecumitis? He was never that good.

Eno Sarris: Seager. We’ve seen his power in the big leagues and we’re hoping Xander finds his.

Keith Hernandez’s Moustache: Many in Mets-land are knocking the move to release Ruben “Pastrami Sandwich” Tejada. Does it really matter? He was third-string at best. Am I wrong in thinking Matt Reynolds or Gavin Cecchini can provide whatever 2016 Ruben Tejada would have provided even with a major injury that would have opened the door for more playing time?

Eno Sarris: The defense was never better than aight and the patience was a mirage born of hitting eighth, IMO.

Eno Sarris: Talent? Yes. Playing time? No.

@outfieldgrass24: Patrick Corbin is limited in innings for ’16. Robbie Ray struggles to log innings. Archie Bradley is limited in innings for ’16. Could making Bradley the handcuff for Corbin, and even Ray, be a “good” opportunity to develop him while mixing L/RHP matchups and limiting overexposure to tired starters and the underbelly of the bullpen?

Eno Sarris: I wanted to say that Tony LaRussa would never do that, but he’s innovated the game before. They seem like they could really use their depth in an interesting way. Bradley would make a great three inning reliever, IMO.

Brandon: Your view on Drake Laroche being in a clubhouse?

Eno Sarris: 1) No other kid is in the clubhouse on the road or anywhere close to 100% of the time.

Eno Sarris: 2) It does not seem unreasonable to ask a professional to leave a child at home. Who ever gets to do this.

Eno Sarris: 3) I could see a 12-year-old being a distraction, especially to a player that has been diagnosed with ADHD.

Eno Sarris: 4) Chemistry is a hell of a thing, and being perceived as being uncaring about a player’s family situation is not a good look.

Eno Sarris: 5) There are lots of children around in general, and it seems like they could have just made a rule about going on the road or something.

Eddy: What role does Tony Zych end up having in the SEA bullpen?

Eno Sarris: One of my favorite saves sleepers if Cishek doesn’t regain that velocity.

Halp: Conforto or Piscotty for this year? It seems most have Conforto higher but he has platoon issues and worse spot in lineup?

Eno Sarris: Better skills, or skills we can believe more readily. In this case, I bet on the skills still because the Cardinals team could find a way to get crowded anyway.

More likely, you see what DeSclafani did with the curve: he threw it in the AFL, then put it away for most of the season, then picked it up again some in Florida, then put it away, then it finally clicked in Cincy. I think I have that timeline right.

The strategy consist of actually garnering all aces when everyone is going after offense, and going speed/highBA guys, after you have consolidated an all-ace team, hoping to win 80% of your categories, and sacrificing HR/RBI. I was thinking of implementing the plan in a 5×5 cat league. A little hesitant on doing so. A mock landed me Goldy, Max, Fernandez, Strasburg, Cole, Carrasco, and then guys like Polanco, Pillar, Eaton, Ketel Marte & co as offense.
